Super 8 Motel - Hartford - Hartford

i was in town to see a play. i've stayed at super 8s before, just needed a place to sleep and it met my needs. good location, on a major road in town and a fast food restaurant nearby. odd that the desk clerk was willing to take the key card outside when checking out, i said i prefer taking it inside as this is more official.

The hotel is older, but the room was clean, that is most important to me. I think it was very acceptable for the rate. It was convenient for the area and we were busy so only sleeping there, not hanging out in the room all evening.

first room we checked into smelled like stale smoke - horrible. carpet needs replacing desperately. we asked to be moved to a different room because of smell. next room was better, but not fantastic. old hotel. time to put some money into it!

Hotel staff was friendly. They even sent me my watch that I left in the room--quickly. Hotel rooms were clean/breakfast in the morning was good. Great place to stay if you are traveling through the area...very affordable...better than the 2.5 star rating...

carpets are very dirty. One would thoink a motel would have a carpet shampoorer to take care of spots before they became bad.

1-They overbooked my room, but had a cancellation at the last minute. Had to wait to check-in. 2-Listed as a non-smoking room, but could tell that it was previously a smoking room. Smelled like an old smokey bar with cheap air freshener cover-up. 3-Housekeeper didn't check mini-fridge, had leftover gallon of milk and open can of evaporated milk still […] in there. 4-Room had been vaccuumed good or not at all, plus very old dirty/stained carpet. Kept my flip-flops on. 5-Bathtub had stains that could have been scrubbed out. 6-Couldn't open window because screen was badly ripped/busted out. 7-Other rooms had newer flat screen T.V., ours did not. Cost for what you got was decent. Convenient location for the night. Room definitely needs updating. Carpet was quite stained. Bed was hard. cleanliness was adaquate.

While one expects little from a Super 8, this one didn't even give that much. The motel is old, the furniture worn and the desk people show no interest in customer service. For example, when I arrived there my second night all the parking spots were taken except for one poorly marked Handicapped spot. I asked the desk clerk what I should do. I got a […] shrug. There was parking on the other side of the lot for a business that opened the next morning and I asked if I could use that spot until morning. Another shrug. I stayed there because it was the closest motel I could find to Oshkosh during the Air Venture event. I'll try to avoid it in the future. Read more

Couldn't get the wireless internet connection to work. Bad news for a traveling salesman who relies on being connected in my job! Coffee pot was dirty. Heater barely put out any warm air. This was the dirtiest, most un-clean hotel I've ever seen in my life!! The carpet was VERY stained, the furniture was dirty and old-looking, the room smelt so bad of smoke I could not even stay for one night!

The hotel is fine if you just need a place to sleep. The bathroom could have been a little cleaner. There is only one other hotel in the city, and the only available rooms were more expensive. I was not spending a lot of time in the room, so it was not a worth the extra money.

Hotel is ok; a "place to stay". Our broken hair dryer was not replaced upon notifying the front desk and the shower curtain rod was not hung correctly so the shower curtain slid towards the middle and let water out of the tub. Overall, it's fine for a basic place to stay for a night or two. Good location.
