Hotel was noisy, staff was always rude, bathroom leaked and they did not care, ceiling was leaking water too, they said it would stop as soon as the rain and then said heating system did that some times after running, we did not have it on BTW, Not sure the restaurant was ever opened, no one was ever there and it appeared closed no matter when we went […] by, They just could not have cared, Terrible rain storm and they were absolutely oblivious to taking care of guest. Hospitality was not their fortay. I am not sure anyone there had ever worked in guest services or the industry as a whole. Read more

When we arrived in Cordoba at the train station we were able to take a #3 bus across the street from the terminal to a bus stop near the hotel. Waiting at the front desk was a goodie bag of books, DVD and a map of the city. The room was clean and well appointed. And the front desk was very helpful answering questions. Nice old hotel 15minutes walk from the center. Parking 16EUR/night - GPS is a must to get there. Didn't try the breakfast - little coffee shops everywhere. Nice little pool area. Nothing to complain about.

My biggest complaint about this hotel is that the windows in the rooms either look out at an airshaft or the noisy street and a blank wall.I was fooled into booking this hotel on line because of pictures of the swimming pool which is the only attractive feature of the hotel. The room we ended up with was three flights down from the lobby and looked […] out at a blank wall about 6 feet away through iron bars. When I complained to the manager he showed me three other rooms all either looked at an air shaft or a noisy street. He said all the rooms were exactly the same. At least the room was fairly quiet . Noise can be a real problem in Spanish hotels.The hotel seems to cater to bus groups and the food was very mediocre at breakfast.The staff other than the manager was very pleasant and helpful.The location is not very close to the places of interest to tourists. We were only there 1 night, mainly to see the Great Mosque, on our way to Seville. Check-in was easy, the service was great. We had a triple and the room was spacious. Everything was great, except the room had a slight funky smell to it, but we got there at like 10pm and after a few minutes hardly noticed.

Went to Hotel Macia Alfaros in Cordoba for one night. The location is great - very near the main plaza and a short walk to the Cathedral Mezquite. The rooms were large and comfortable enough, but I agree that maybe this is not up to 4 star rating- more like 3 or 3 1/2. The pool area is nice but ver small- so photo is a bit misleading. . A long and pleasant stay in Spain and Portugal was soured by our two nights at this hotel. The main issue was the pompous and aggressive front desk staff. A list of problems: 1) neglected to tell us needed a deposit for safe, special key and daily deposit...had to go downstairs and inquire why safe wouldn't lock; 2) "forgot" to give us a wake up call […] the first morning. No apologies either, just excuses. Wake up call was given second morning ;3) first room had stained carpets and bedding and a large gap in closed door - could see into room from across hallway; 4) second room was by pool, had loud private party by pool until about 12:00am, even though pool was closed to guests after 8:00pm - and had to go back and get different key for different type of safe in second room; 5) deposit required for each pool towel; 6) left do not disturb sign on room when out, cleaning crew came in anyway and made room; 7) bad odor in whole wing of hotel where second room was; 8) no air conditioning in hallways or common areas; 9) Staff insulting, argumentative (yelled at us in response to our complaints); 10) Had to register with local police, and couldn't get reasonable explanation why, although this happened in no other city during our stay; 11)They made us feel unwelcome. Hotels in Cordoba seem to be somewhat pricier than the other towns I visited on this trip (Madrid, Granada, Toledo) and so on balance this hotel offered value for money being upper 3/lower 4 star in quality. The location of the hotel is quiet and somewhere between the new commercial centre of the town and the historic quarter (maybe 10-15 mins walk […] from the Mezquita depending on how likely you are to get distracted). The furniture was fine but the carpet in room has seen much better days. Needs changing asap. There was some foul smell in the toilet/ bathroom.It was much less the second day, but was still present. The bathroom area was clean but could not locate source of smell.

Great stay. Clean hotel and the staff were all very helpful. Parking on site and walked to all attractions. Cathedral, bridge, Jewish quarters, restaurants etc..... The room was on the lower level which opened onto a typical Spanish laneway or street so there wasn't much of a view however; there was a privacy lattice so we could still open the window […] without people being able to look in. This was not a concern for us since our trip was to tour and we spent very little time in any of our rooms. The laneway ended up being very quiet with only 1 or 2 people strolling by the whole time. Our room may have been clean, but the worn, frayed, stained carpet certainly did not make it feel that way. When we commented on it we were told that it had been replaced only two years ago - the implication being that we were being too fussy. This hotel is the perfect place to stay in Cordoba, it's in a quiet yet central location. The service and staff are second to none. They helped me organise a surprise birthday cake and cava for my husband's 40th birthday during our stay which was great. A big bonus for the hotel is that it also has a car park for guests.
