Allocated room 203 on check-in. This proved to be the worst hotel room I have been allocated in nearly 50 years international travel. It was no more than a minute attic room with sloping outer wall/ceiling. There was one Velux window that could only be opened a few centimetres and the radiator valve was faulty so the heat could not be turned off. Furniture consisted of one chair, a desk, bedside table and a double industrial cloakroom steel locker! There was no way my wife and I were going to accept this room but it was too late to find another Hotel with car parking. We had to pay a suppliment of ?20/ night to get an acceptable alternative on the next floor down. 3 days car parking cost ?75. Totally unacceptable.

The hotel is a 15 Euro taxi ride from central station. You can walk to the museums in 25 minutes. There is a tram stop nearby by which makes the central zone easily accessible. The hotel reception, restaurant and commons areas are interesting and decorated to a high standard. We ate in the restaurant and found the menu limited, but to a high standard. The room was small, with only enough room to walk around one side of the bed. We ordered double room and were disappointed to find a room containing two beds pushed together. Overall the hotel was adequate for the price that we paid.

The hotel is very modern and with its black and white sleek look, and it comes across as almost theatrical in character! We had a lovely time staying in one third floor suites, although it was slightly annoying that the lift only went up to the second floor and we had to walk up a flight of stairs to get to the third floor. The location was good and the hotel easy to find. We spent a day visiting the zoo which was very close. Overall I would recommend a stay at th Hotel Arena, particularly if you like something just that lttle bit different!

I went to Amsterdam with my best friend and we stayed at Hotel Arena. BEAUTIFUL hotel!!! Very modern and super cool. The rooms are very chic. The people that work at the front desk are all very nice and super helpful. They are always willing to answer any questions you may have. The restraunt staff- just ok. Service was not amazing and the food was honestly, just ok. With that said, the service is not good anywhere in Amsterdam though, so it was not a huge deal. The bar is nice and a lot of fun. They have parties almost every weekend!!! Be prepaired for a walk if you want to go into the city though. The fastest wya is to take a quick cab ride or to walk to the subway (approx. 1/2 mile away i.e. 15 min walk). In a very friendly neighborhood. Overall, I would stay there again and enjoyed my stay. I recommend it!!!!

We stayed in a standard room at Hotel Arena. It was very small; we were used to small rooms from staying in Europe, but this was extreme. There was only one working outlet and the bathroom was cramped. Still, the room was sufficient for our needs. It is a little out of the way, and not near any attractions, but there is a tram stop nearby which takes you into the city. There are a nightclub, bar and restaurant attached to the hotel which seemed to be the main focus--the hotel seemed like an afterthought, and with loud drunk people making noise all night, it felt like that too. Next time, I would shell out a little extra for a bigger room closer to the attractions.

For those who know about European hotels this was a welcome surprise. The room (deluxe room) was larger than most and less expensive. It is a 5 minute easy walk to the tram that takes you to city center in 10 minutes. The service was very helpful and friendly. There is a bar, restaurant and night club though if you don't want to be a part of it you wouldn't know it's there. I highly recommend Hotel Arena and everyone knows of it so the cab drivers can get you there!
