Our room was nice it was a standard with a king bed . The walk to nationwide arena for a concert was short . We had a comfortable bed . The only complaint was the shower drain in the tub was very slow. You do have to go to the Crown Plaza for the pool but its just across the drive. The styling and interior of the hotel are great. The desk staff at check-in was friendly. Upon check-out, just lazy and in a hurry to get back to his phone. There was a coffee maker in the room, but no coffee, cups, etc. There was no window covering other than a blind, which everyone knows does not block out the light in a city that does not go dark. […] Had to leave the thermostat fan in the "on" position to try to drown out the constant slamming of door in room above me. Tried to order room service from the restaurant and was told it would be over an hour. Went downstairs, ordered, ate, and returned to room long before the hour was up! "Overpriced, little comfort and lack of service"
Upon check-in I asked for payment to be split between corporate account and personal credit, since I stayed two nights for work and my family joined me for the holiday week. I was told this was not a problem and went to lengths to ensure it was handled correctly. It wasn't. I called and finally after getting someone on the phone. I was told that since […] I booked through Expedia, I would have to deal with them. I asked why this was not presented to me at check-in, and was put on hold and no one returned. I waited on hold so long it forced me over to another line which just rang and rang. Obviously, the staff does not want to answer my questions or help. She even admitted there was a note on my account to split payment. As for the room, just mediocre. They're nice and big, and the place is convenient to downtown, but the beds and bedding were that of or less than what you would find at a 2 star hotel. After reading previous reviews I was expecting to be blown away by this hotel and sadly I wasn't. The hotel was very bland, nothing special about it. "Amazing architecture, great location, poor staff"
This is a wonderful hotel - the facilities are exceptional, the room size is amazing and the "feel" of the architecture and design (a great fusion of historical and modern) really makes this an excellent hotel. The problems are twofold - the staff and the beds/pillows. When we arrived (at 6:30 pm) there was no one at the front desk. The desk phone had […] been pulled out and put on the counter with a sign that said "Be right back; if there is an emergency please dial "0"." Our family waited for over 5 minutes thinking the individual would really "be right back" and I'm trying to learn patience. When I dialed "0," I realized they would never have come unless I dialed as they were next door and their explanation was "there aren't many people tonight so we were just hanging out together." They were cold and not helpful at the check in. Later at the check-out, a young man couldn't be interrupted from playing games on the hotel computer to even look up. Then when he did he received a text and ignored us while he texted. Needless to say, the hotel staff was dismal. Finally, the beds weren't very comfortable - and I'm not comparing them to a stay at a Ritz Carlton or even a Marriott, but they aren't comfortable compared even to a Hampton Inn or Hyatt Place. Even worse, the pillows were so flat that I believe you can probably buy better ones from a dollar store. My wife and I are big travelers and have stayed in our fair share of upscale/nice hotels along the way. I booked The Lofts because it is located in our favorite part of Columbus to stay and a conveinent walk to a lot of great restaurants, bars, and exhibits. We have stayed across the street at the Hyatt Regency several times and truthfully, will probably […] stay there from now on. The big disappoint is in no way a reflection of the rooms or the hotel itself but from our perspective the hotel staff. I should also note, my wife and I have over 10 years of hospitality experience in the food and beverage industry and therefore understand what it takes to leave a positive experience on a guest. With that being said, we both found the staff to be unattentive but not necessarily rude. Never once were we asked how things were up until checkout. Most times when we entered the hotel or left it we would barely get them to look up from the computer. Smiles there must cost because i didnt see one the entire 4 nights we were there. When we asked for more pillows and coffee for our room we must of somehow offended them because the staff looked like we asked for a full refund. As I stated, the rooms and locations are 5 star and with that comes the price of a 5 star place, but unfortunately when i compare it to other 5 star locations we have stayed at the staff was a major letdown and as a result we will be staying across the street from now on. You cannot turn left into the hotel, so you have to find a way through all of the one way streets in downtown Columbus to turn right into the hotel. They only have valet parking at 23.00 per night. The television service kept going out and freezing on us, even though there was no foul weather in the area. Yes, you heard that right, at about 11 PM, the staff opened our door, and walked into our room as we lay in bed attempting to sleep. We stayed for 2 nights. The walls are paper thin... Someone in the next room turned on a hair dryer and we could hear it in our room. The service is terrible as well. We called to confirm our room a few days before, they claimed that we didn't have a room reserved, but magically found the reservation once we be expressed our annoyance. Then we asked […] if we could drop off our luggage at 12pm. The person on the phone said it would be no problem and they would have our room ready. When we lugged all of our bags to the front desk, they claimed that our room was not ready and they had nowhere to keep our bags. They only agreed to keep them once a tip was offered. When we arrived later that evening, they refused to valet our car saying no one was available. A security guard finally came up and offered to park our car. "Memorial weekend get away"
1. Our stay started off immediately with not much help at check-in. There was one individual checking in, but they were less than friendly. I appeared to be interrupting or intruding their time. Questions were half answered trying to get us out of her hair as quickly as possible. 2. The room was a beautiful clean loft room, however the carpet was bunched […] up in the middle of the floor in front of the bathroom and at the entrance into the bedroom. This is an obvious trip hazard and a general maintenance item that left me feeling like the hotel did not care about safety. 3. My husband and I came in after 12am and the front door was not locked as the sign said it would be after 11. This may have been acceptable had there been a hotel attendant in lobby, but instead there was a sign saying if we needed anything to go across the parking area to the other hotel lobby. That showed a lack of safety again from the hotel. Anyone could have accessed the elevators and gone up to the rooms. The hotel should be staffed 24/7 since it is a hotel. I should not have to be inconvenienced to have to walk to another hotel for help. I felt there was a disregard for me as a paying customer. You got me there and that's all I got. There was a party in the room next door with women shouting WOOOO! about every three minutes. Heard the party at 6pm, but left the room until 10pm. Called to complain at 10:20, 10:50, and 11:05.
