"good location, close to the Tiber and Vatican City"
we were checked into the Annex. The Annex is across the street and in the next block from the hotel. The Air conditioning was minimal if it existed at all. The rooms were in the high 80s at night. We complained and were moved to the main building the next day and the room fees were comped.Genuine Expedia guest review
We took a cab to Sant Angelo, as we did not know the lay of the land, but then after the Metro and the buses were easy to use. The piazza for the buses is only 5 blocks away which we took to the Metro. The room was better than expected and close to some nice but not expensive restaurants. The location is nice as you can walk to the Vatican. I only wish […] I can stay there again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Walking distance to many sights"
The hotel, for the most part, was in a good location that provided us with close-by restaurants and within 15-30 minutes walking distance of most of the big "sights to see." The hotel provided an adequate breakfast buffet and even a very nice "happy hour" for the first night of arrival. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful with questions, transportation, […] etc. For me, the downfall was the room. It was of decent size, but honestly, I have had larger showers and bathrooms on a cruise ship. The bathroom was quite small and trying to do anything in there was quite a challenge (and I am only 5'1). I don't know if all the rooms are configured this way, or if we somehow got the smallest one in the hotel, but it did make getting ready for the day a challenge. "Overall great experience!"
Stayed here for four nights on mine and my husband's first trip to Rome. Found the staff extremely helpful and friendly with great local recommendations for food and attractions! The breakfast provided was tasty, the same spread each morning but was a great starter to days filled with lots of walking and sight seeing. Wifi was great when we initially […] checked in but as we got closer to the weekend and the hotel had more guests it become difficult to connect, however, they have two house computers available to use which was nice. Hotel rooms were small and simple but everything that was needed. Location was good. Closest to Castel Sant Angelo but we had no problem walking to all the major sites with ease. Overall great experience and would recommend fully and plan to stay here again if we make it back to Rome in our travels!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Clean and quiet room but there was no hot water for the shower which was extremely small. Our RV camper shower is bigger.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The staff was nice but..."
Our room was supposed to be non smoking but when you turned on the heating it immediately smelled of cigarette smoke. The rooms was cleaned again and deodorized when we complained with the reception but as soon as we used the heating the room smelled again. The room was so small that it was wedged against the wall so for me to get out I had wiggle out […] of bed and on the other side there was barely space for a person to stand. The next morning I went to take a shower at 8:45 am and there was no hot water! When we called the reception we were told that was because everybody is taking showers... We left after one night and asked for a refund on what we had paid. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice, very clean hotel. Near many sites."
The price of the hotel was very inexpensive compared with others in the area. I stayed in the Annex Building across the street from the main hotel. I had a room at the end of the hall which was bigger than most of the other rooms. It was an easy walk to the Vatican, Altar of Peace, Spanish Steps and shops on the Via Condotti. WiFi was fast but spotty […] in parts of the room. I would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

My daughter and I spent two nights here and it was the best accommodations we had while in Italy!! The front desk clerks were helpful, and friendly. The breakfast was light and tasty. Happy hour was a perfect beginning to going out for dinner. We will definitely be back and will stay longer!!! We loved our stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The hotel is very well located to many important sites; Vatican,Spanish steps,Trevi fount., to name a few. Our group stayed in both the annex and main hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent hotel and location"
Hotel Sant' Angelo was an excellent choice for us while in Rome. The Hotel is in a great location to get to all the major sites. We were able to easily walk to the Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, the Vatican, and Trevi Fountain. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and accomodating. The staff was very responsive to any request we had. […] We chose the breakfast option when we booked our room and are glad that we did. The food was excellent, it puts American continental breakfasts to shame. There are plenty of eating options near by the hotel as well as options for public transit. The Wi-fi worked great and was free. We would definitely stay at Hotel Sant' Angelo again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The room was of adequate size. Service was excellent and the staff was helpful. The shower was small and elbows kept hitting the door. Breakfast was good and substantial with bread, meats, cheeses, variety of croissants and donuts, cereals, yogurt, fruits, juices and coffee. The cappuccino was excellent! We were put in the annex part of the hotel which […] was a block away. Vatican was about 15 min walk and about the same to the Spanish Steps. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed here for 3 nights prior to our cruise. We were told we would be in the main hotel (versus annex building 2 blocks away). Upon check-in, we were taken to the annex building. I was very insistent that we be put in the main hotel, and, after waiting for over 30 minutes, we were accommodated. The rooms were clean; however a bolt was broken on […] our toilet seat (making you almost fall off the toilet as the seat moved from side to side). We reported it only to be told it couldn't be fixed (guess they do not have a maintenance person). The staff was very friendly and the continental breakfast was sufficient. They even provided a happy hour one of the nights, which was nice. Neighborhood was OK; we felt safe to walk around. It was a 15-minute walk to the Vatican; not bad. It was an OK stay for the 3 nights. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

My stay was very nice at that hotel.. I was there on my honeymoon and the concierge (sebastian) was very nice and made special decoration to the bed. He was also very helpful and accommodating !! The rest of staff were very nice!! The hotel was very clean and the room was very comfortable!! I recommend this hotel to honeymooners !!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything at this hotel was great. The staff members were very nice and helpful. The location is perfect to catch a bus into the core of the city. It is also near the Castle and St. Peters Square/Vatican. The room was clean, too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was amazing, most of them speak at least 2 languages, some speak more which was helpful in finding our sights and understanding the transportation system, though it is very centrally located to various piazzas , castles, and the Vatican City. The house keeping staff kept the place impeccably clean!! , very thorough and thoughtful of our privacy. […] They offered a happy hour with wonderful food, wine, water and juice, and coffee/tea each night, very sufficient for a light supper. The staff made our stay very special with they way they treated us, even when they were very busy. We arrived about 5 hours early due to our plane, and they showed us where we could freshen up and they stored our luggage until the room was ready for check in, they brought our luggage up to our room too. "easy access to Rome"
Other than not being able to check in before 3pm (understandable, hard to make sure so many rooms are clean beforehand), we had great service. The staff were friendly and eager to help with maps and directions. My wife caught a little cold and they were on hand to tell me where the nearest Farmacias were located (the one that's across the street was […] closed at the time). Our room was a great size and had a nice window to open to the NOISY alley below. However, the shower was pretty small and we tended to get water everywhere on the floor, despite our best efforts at closing the curtains more than needed. Our bathroom had a big step up into it from the room, which we found after tripping over it upon entering the room. This hotel had super easy access to all of Rome (almost all the sights were <30 minute walk), a lovely NON-TOURISTY restaruaunt nearby called Splendor (which was delicious), and they even booked us a private taxi to Fiumicino for 38 euros because we wanted to be there by 6:30am. We did have a problem getting to the hotel originally but our taxi driver used a map and was able to locate the street (it was abbreviated Via M. Dionigi, 16 on my sheet) and dropped us off by the piazza nearby and told us to walk down the street. All in all, it was a lovely hotel and I would recommend it!!! "Excellent hotel in a great location"
We loved this hotel and found it to be in a great location, close to metro stops (about a 10-15 minute walk) and within easy walking distance of many sights. "it was definitely convenienty located"
we stayed in a completely different building than the hotel reception which was inconvenient when we got there with all our luggage and baby stuff, we dragged everything up to reception in one building to be told we were staying in another building down the road. That was frustrating. They did help us with our luggage but it was still an inconvenience […] after traveling. The rooms are small and the shower head had a mind of its own which was challenging. The armoire door was broken, good thing my husband is handy. Overall it was fine but a little pricey considering all our obstacles. The best part of our stay was the housekeeper, who was so sweet and always set up the crib for our baby so nicely. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Wonderful Stay in Rome"
This small hotel, conveniently located to many sights, provided a wonderful respite before our cruise the following day. The room was very comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. We had a problem with a piece of missing luggage, and the reception person, Valeria, worked tirelessly to track down the errant piece. Cipriano was also very helpful. The hotel is not located where Hotels.com led me to believe, nor does it have the views shown in the pictures on Hotels.com's website. Hotel room was not in the main building, it was two blocks away. "Don't stay here!!!!!!!!!!!!"
We booked 4 hotels through hotels.com for a two week vacation in Italy. This was the most expensive. The hotel Sant' Angelo was the pitts. It was misrepresented on the web site and by no means was a 3.7 rating. First of all the room was so small that when my wife went to the bathroom she would hit my feet when I was in bed. Next was the bathroom, It […] was a closet. The shower stall had mold in it and the shower curtain would not close due to a make shift curtin rod. There was only one(1) suitcase stand with no where to put a second suitcase. I also read something on the desk that was left out by mistake and it showed hostil prices. This hotel should be removed from hotels.com listings. When I complained at the desk I was told they were full and no other rooms were availble for my stay. It should have no star rating. "Great location, paper-thin walls, worst coffee"
The location is great - away from the touristiest areas yet within a 10 minute walk. Surrounding area is very pretty and fun to discover. We requested a quiet room off the courtyard but were given one right above the street. We had to press the manager to exchange after one night, because the rooms have paper-thin walls and you can hear everything happening […] in the next room (everything!) Also you can hear everyone doing their business in the bathroom (everything!). After we insisted we were given another room which was quieter but still not great. The wi-fi signal in the hotel is very weak, we could not use any of our devices. Most egregious is the breakfast. I have traveled in Italy for years and this is the worst breakfast I've ever encountered - old cold cuts, fake/cheap pastries and absolutely the worst coffee in all of Italy. It tasted like mud. I tried requesting espresso and cappuccino, but it did not get better. Just awful! I will stay in this area again but not in this hotel! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Tha Vatican"
Hotel was clean and the room fine and only a ten-minute walk from St Peter's. However, the reception desk/breakfast room is almost a city block from the rooms themselves, there is no parking except for catch-as-catch-can or a garage around the corner, the elevator is a study in early nineteenth-century electro-mechanics, and there was no hot water the […] morning of our stay. I didn't believe the other reviews about the elevators lol They are tiny!!!! Only two people at a time, if you are on the heavy side, I only recommend one. "Intimate, quaint home away from home"
We chose this hotel based on past reviews and its central location to the sights we wanted to see. Boy, were we blown away! Service: we did order room service. However the staff was more than welcome to provide us recommendations and directions to local attractions. Many of them were bilingual. Cleanliness/condition: the room was as expected. Clean, […] with no signs of wear or worn out items. The rooms have universal plugs compatible with US plugs without adapters (don't forget, it's still 220 volts). Our only gripe was that on one night the hot water didn't work. They fixed it within an hour, though. Food: we elected to pre-purchase breakfast with our reservation. Impressed would be an understatement! Two staff members tended to a room of eight tables (16 seats). All the foods were freshly prepared, including the bread. Plus, by the second day, they had our coffee preferences memorized. By the way, they fresh-made each cappuccino or latte. No cheap, automated machine for this hotel! Overall: excellent experience! Highly reccomended! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband and I spent 7 nights at Hotel Sant Angelo and had the most wonderful time. "Great Rome hotel"
Great hotel, close to the Vatican, but a little far from food.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great location, but the hotel is in a big building with the doors at each floor always open. It was freezing cold and the heat is kept off in the communal areas the entire time. Would recommend only in the summer if you are looking for a cheap accommodation in a central area of the city.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel staff went out of their way to be helpful. Every night they had free wine and light snacks for their guests and some of the staff circulated and spoke with the guests. The buffet breakfast was the best I've had with eggs, selection of meats, cheeses, fresh fruits and pastries. The only complaint I would have is the shower is extremely small...about […] 2' X2', which I guess isn't that unusual for Europe as some of the other hotels we stayed in were that way. And we couldn't get Wifi in our room, but had to go to the 2nd floor and sit near their public computer to gain access. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A Good Experience"
The staff was very helpful, and were fluent in english. The location is good, close to bus stops but walking distance to all of the sights. The neighborhood was quiet at night. "Needs tweaking to make this hotel a great choice"
This was a disappointing experience having just been pampered on a cruise and choosing to spend 1 more night in Rome and being greeted by a very long line at check in and people yelling at the overwhelmed hotel clerk. People were unhappy with different aspects of their rooms. Our room was nice, but there was no hot water and the toilet made sounds as […] it filled all night. "Would Stay Again!"
We were very happy with our stay at the Hotel Sant'Angelo and would definitely stay again! This was our first trip to Rome and the hotel's great location provided easy walks to all of the sites we wanted to see. Our room was clean and had lovely crisp white bed linens. We had a double bed, which was actually two twins pushed together but was FAR bigger […] than I would have imagined. "Not a 3-star!"
Room was tidy; furniture a bit scuffed up. What really got us though, was that the room was in a building down the block from where the reception was. And neither building had a visible, obvious entrance. The room building required going through an outer door, up stairs, then another keyed door (shared building), and then into the room. Use of 3 keys […] required. Felt insecure and was inconvenient. More open, visible lobby would be advised. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Value and Comfort"
This hotel was very pleasant and comfortable. It is in a great neighborhood with great restaurants and cafes away from the tourists areas. "Would stay here again"
The staff is simply wonderful. There is no language barrier. The hotel is extremely difficult to locate in it's little alley, but most are situated as such. Initially, we arrived late via cab and were taken to the "annex" portion of the hotel. We booked the hotel instead of a hostel in order to have air conditioning. There was no air in this room which […] had to be 100 degrees with the window open. We spoke with the reservation clerk the next day and we immediately placed in the "hotel" portion with a very quaint room: mini-fridge, working AC, but a bathroom smaller than a cruise ship. Our linens and bedding were clean and fresh...no need for bedbug spray. Do NOT expect a hotel comparable to the USA...this is more of a clean dorm room. There are no amenities: no ice machines, no vending dispensers, no in-room coffee makers. We did have a mini-fridge and there was a computer in the hallway. We were here for 6 nights and though minimal in regards to US expectations, we were close to everything with wonderful restaurants nearby. Expect to walk plenty of steps, and there is no insulation regarding noise...forget your previous stay at the Marriott...this again, is more of a dorm room type situation. The breakfast offered each am by the reservation desk is wonderful, and the staff are welcoming and pleasant. The food is fresh, plentiful, and regardless of culture, accommodating to all. The front desk couldn't be more helpful; always cheerful and pleasant. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
