Room was cold as window was wide open on arrival and took hours to get not so cold! Stains on carpet and cigarette odor. Staff said after 11 pm there is no one at front desk! Parking on street IF place available. Elevator does not go to all floors. On plus side did sleep 4 people which is not always easy to find in Europe.

Overall a nice stay. If you are looking for fancy, this is not your place. But if you are looking for efficiency, nice location near the museums and one block from a tram stop (#1 Tram from Centraal Station) this is your spot. Easy walking to the large central park, museums, and shopping. I recommend and would stay here again.

We had just arrived at Hotel Blyss after traveling for over 24 hours and were exhausted, hoping for a 'blyss-ful" night's sleep. Around midnight the smoke alarm went off in our room. It stopped immediately, and we went ahead and went to bed. Between 1 am and 4 am, the alarm went off FOUR more times. Very loud, always with one loud burst. We complained […] to the hotel night manager who said there was nothing he could do...the smoke alarms were "very sensitive and when someone showered and did not open a window, the alarm would go off from the shower steam." Really? That was the best excuse they could offer. We had booked 3 nights in this hotel. We immediately found another hotel and at first light the next morning, moved all our luggage to the new hotel. The staff said that the alarm company just told them "that's the way the system works." They offered to move us to a new room, but the situation would be the same there. No thanks. We left and did not experience any Blyss from Hotel Blyss! Never again! Read more

The hotel has small rooms, but I think all hotels in Amsterdam too. it is in a very quiet neighborhood a bit off the beaten track but very close to Tram #1 which goes all the way to Centraal Station. the hotel staff is very, very, very nice but do not trust them giving you a wake-up call. bring an alarm clock. I would stay here again.

Convenient location for exploring Amsterdam, nice decor and spacious room. However hotel is next to a very busy road and tram line which meant windows needed to be kept closed, and with no air con, this was a little uncomfortable. Not the most soundproofed internally either.

The room was clean but very basic. In the room there are no tea/coffee making facilities, no bar fridge, no cutlery for use. It can get very noisy early in the morning from the nearby trams and traffic and also from other guests moving around. The reception staff were nice and checking in and out was a simple and quick process.

The Hotel is worse than a 1star hotel. The fire alarm in the hotel went on every time (even if someone took a hot water shower). During our stay at the hotel for 2 days, the alarm buzzed practically every hour and after calling the reception, we were told not to worry coz someone took a shower. I mean how can someone relax if the alarm was buzzing 24x7. […] The beds and pillows were extremely uncomfortable. They had joined 2 single beds to make it a double bed for couples with a huge gap in between. The mattress was extremely hard and the pillows were bad as well. The table lamp could only be used if the tv was not connected. No plug for sink. No bed side light or mains socket. Noisy radiator. Very thin walls - noise from next room. Poor electrical extensions to mains for tv. Poor shower facility.

This is an old property and a bit run down, but the location can't be beat. It's very handy to museums and attractions in central Amsterdam. Our room was on the "garden level" (basement), so being a floor or two higher up may have been better.

We stayed one night, 8 people in 2 rooms. They were 2 big hotel rooms with 4 beds. Kind of hostel like, but a lot nicer and pretty much the same price. We really enjoyed our stay!

Just one issue. I was given the suite where I ordered a deluxe room. You would think that this wasn't the worst thing in the world... to be upgraded to a suite, but the suite was a double room where I ordered a twin. Or, at least, I thought I ordered a twin. Can't be 100% sure on this now. Anyway, everything else was great. Highly recommended.

As the title says, no thrills, 1st impression was good very nice lobby, room was at top (very top) lift only goes to 2nd floor we were on 3rd which was a bit of a mission at the end of the day. Breakfast, what brekfast, not worth the 10 euro's they wanted, bread, selection of cold meets, jam apple warm drinks thats it. We spent 4 night at the blyss. The location is great. You can pretty much walk everywhere. B-fast is 10€ so we ate at b&b room. Massive b-fast for 12€. The room were not sound proof AT ALL. Un hôtel très bien placé, nous avions une chambre quadruple, spacieuse, bien agencée avec rangement, penderie, bureau, télé, salle de bain avec douche et veut lire, sèche cheveux et le petit plus, une porte donnant sur le jardin aménagé.
