"Nice (but noisy) hotel"
Spent 2 nights at this hotel. Overall, the property is nice. They are in the middle of renovation, so there is no restaurant are bar available at this time. My only complaint about this hotel is that it is extremely loud. The walls are paper thin and you can literally listen to full conversations taking place in your neighbors' rooms. Be advised that […] this hotel apparently allows dogs, as our neighbors had two of them. Unfortunately, a significant contributor to the noise level. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel on the bay!"
We loved the location. It was nice and quiet, the hotel room was very clean and a good size. The only thing we were a little disappointed with, was that the hotel lobby and the restaurant was under construction and closed. The pool area is very nice, and we love the town with the embarcadero.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel was nice"
Hotel was very nice. Rooms were updated. Restraunt was being Renavated. Pool area was nice. A couple of miles out of town. But right next to a golf course and on the water. Would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
You had to wash your car frequently due to the constant amount of bird droppings in the area. Definitely a turn off!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Wonderful place to spend a honeymoon! Despite arriving during renovations to the main building and restaurant, everything we experienced became ideal! Nice customer service and location. We will definitely return and recommend!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was not what was represented on the site. It is undergoing major renovations after labor day still which appear to have been going on for months. The water in both our hotel rooms smelled very bad. The bathrooms, though renovated, had not had the mosaics in the shower replaced and they were green with mold. The rooms smelled odd and the water […] is unpalatable. We tried making coffee with the coffeemaker and the water has a distinct earth taste and strong mineral taste. Clearly there should be signs stating not to drink the water and bottled water should be provided in the rooms which it wasn't. The breakfast was so unappetizing that we checked out and went elsewhere to eat. Beautiful location, surprisingly bad hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean but can't recommend"
Overall we didn't think the value was there - I've stayed in much nicer places for what we payed. Unless you can get reservations for the nicer bay-facing rooms with fireplace and hot tub, I would stay elsewhere. Our room was clean and remodeled, but the layout was just weird and not very practical. No AC, so the window must be open for any air, but […] there were weird noises all night. Also, the towels had a magnificent amount of lint which got everywhere. I think they gave us new towels which were not washed - there was a factory smell to it and made us itch a little the first night we were there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nicely Upgraded Motel"
This is a nice little Inn on the water with nice views and convenient location to Morro Rock and Morro Bay State Park. Really nice area for hiking, on and off the neighborhood roads. The hotel restaurant and Lobby were still being remodeled, but there is a great little Cafe down the coast within walking distance near a Marina with a cool Boardwalk that […] circles the wildlife refuge. We had high hopes for this hotel based on the images shown on Expedia. However, when we showed up we saw that much of the hotel was under renovation. The WiFi was complimentary (one of the reasons we chose this hotel) but very slow and spotty. Forget about streaming anything, checking email was such a hassle that we ended up using our cellphones. I […] needed to get some work done but I was unable to due to the network connectivity The complimentary breakfast was fine but there was always a large group of flies/insects hovering in the room. Plus, the room was so small, that several of the guests had to stand or take the food to their room. The key cards seemed to work sporadically. Not sure why. The hotel should be priced considerably lower than what it is. Maybe after the renovations are complete, it will be much better. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Location, location, location ..."
The hotel is still mid-renovation, which means no on-site restaurant. An inconvenience, but it is really all about the location - which can't be beat. The room was comfortable. The bed was firmer than we are accustomed to but still comfortable. We really enjoyed drinking wine on our deck and watching the sunset. It was just a great place to relax and […] unwind. We plan to visit again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The location was nice and the grounds of the hotel were well-kept. They were remodeling the restaurant area, so we weren't able to enjoy that part of the hotel, but we spent some time in the jacuzzi which was relaxing. Pros: hotel is located in a somewhat secluded area across from the golf course Outside of the hotel was pretty quiet, located away […] from the noise of the Embarcadero. We had a fireplace and small patio. Coffee maker Pool Jacuzzi Glass shower Spacious closet with shelves Hair dryer Iron and ironing board Room was decorated simply, but tastefully. There were shutters on the patio door. Cons: Thin walls---We could hear our neighbors' snoring through the walls and lots of stomping by our upstairs neighbors. No countertop in bathroom---Virtually nowhere to set any hair styling or make up, shaving, etc. No a/c--the room was quite stuffy and we couldn't enjoy the fireplace because the front desk clerk told us it also doubled as the heater. Our room was quite hot when we arrived and took a log time to cool off. We ended up leaving the patio door open all night. The bathroom tiles were white and some of them had dark spots on the grout. Fan in the bathroom was weak. No microwave No refrigerator Front desk staff were "meh". Not able to check in early (1 1/2 hrs. early) due to "cleaning staff being a bit behind". Conclusion: We liked the quiet location, by would prefer a/c, microwave and refrigerator, along with thicker walls, so we will likely not stay there unless it's during winter so we can enjoy the fireplace. "Something is missing!"
This hotel is in a lovely spot, but the Expedia page neglects to share any information about the current restoration underway. The room was fine, except for a shortage of chairs, but on arrival, and not before (the Expedia page says NOTHING on this), we learned that the restaurant, a primary reason for choosing this hotel, was closed, and the bar as […] well - so the lovely sunset spot for enjoying dinner was not available. Then we learned that the spa was closed and the pool unheated. These are pieces of information that should be visibly shared on Expedia's page rather than travelers having to be surprised by these unexpected disappointments. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"OK for an overnight stay"
Hotel undergoing rennovation. (wasn't informed of that). Bathroom inconvenient to use. Pedestal sink only and shower....no room for necessities. Stubbed my toe three times on the rock around the shower base. Some of the electrical outlets did not work, hence chargers couldn't work.Genuine Expedia guest review

Fabulous location and friendly staff. The room was large and well appointed. My only gripes are about the herd of elephants that checked into the room above my head and the rock-like mattress. Still, I loved the hotel. I'll definitely come back......but book the upstairs room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Location; Location; Location"
The location is "priceless". The estuary is peaceful and an excellent place for "bird watching". The property is undergoping major renovations and upgrades, but the noise level was non-existant. "Nice and relaxing"
We had a clean, spacious modern room with quality furnishings and a a wall of windows providing a view of Morro Bay. Plantation shutters afforded privacy and room darkening. The king bed was firm and comfortable. We enjoyed the gas fireplace heater, needed even in August. We did not use the flat screen TV hidden in a cabinet above the fireplace. We […] enjoyed sitting on the patio chairs listening to the birds and relaxing in the pool and spa. We slept well with minimal noise from neighbors. The bathroom was spacious with a shower (no tub), 4 sets of towels and good ventilation. A single serving coffee maker worked well and made drinkable coffee using bottled water. One negative about Morro Bay - the tap water smells and is not drinkable. This is no fault of the hotel, but it would be nice if the they provided complimentary bottles of water. We ended up buying water at the office for $2 per bottle. If you visit, stock up on water at the grocery store. Note the location of the hotel by a bird sanctuary. We noticed a car window wash kit (like at gas station) in the parking lot and we soon realized why. All the cars were hit with bird droppings! It looked like a huge flock of large birds flew over. We visited during renovation, but workers were only busy during the day when we were out and about. All in all, we had a very pleasant visit and we would stay there again. The room was nice and the price was reasonable compared to other seaside hotels in the area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It's the location that's the big draw."
Beautiful partial view of bay and great view of the sand dunes beyond. Nice room. Mattress was a little hard. Shower was stained with various things. Free breakfast was good. Morro Bay is having low water supplies, affecting taste of water. Couldn't drink in-room coffee, it was so terrible. Awfully high rates -- as much as New York City.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Waste of money. Dinkiest room I've ever stayed in."
Arrived at 3pm, room was not ready. Was told I would receive a call when ready. No call. Came back at 4:15, room almost ready. Smallest motel room I've ever seen! Toilet up against the wall, had to sit sideways to clear the toilet paper dispenser mounted on the wall. Bathroom sink was in the living room!!!! I guess it wouldn't fit in the bathroom. TV […] was in an entertainment center. To view TV, you had to swing open large doors, when sitting on the bed, TV was so low you couldn't see it. Then the doors blocked access to the sink that was in the living room! Got to love it, NOT! Room was 20' from the hot tub/pool. Noisy as heck until 10pm, lights shined through "shutters" in the room all night long. Certain channels on the TV guide would not come in, in particular was FOX news, wonder why???? Bed was awful, Comforter was a "thing" in-between 2 sheets, sewed on the sides, and one end. The open end was at the head of the bed??? Pillows were nothing more than a rag inside a pillow case. $219 a night!! I would put any Motel 6, or any other $59 per night room, up against this room/Inn any day! Staff were total snobs. You'd have thought they owned the place, and actually thought it was something. Room was not the one that was pictured on the website, that I looked at PRIOR to booking. Also, NOTE: a fairly large remodel job is going on there, very noisy, stuff piled all over the place. Seedy looking construction workers hanging out, after work. Never again, absolute worst!! Run.. "Not Worth the Price!"
Room was a small enclosed box, although very clean; my wife and I got the bank of rooms where all the birds "do their thing"; no view at all; room was in front on the parking area and heard cars going/coming most of the time; half of the TV cabinet doors had to remain opened otherwise picture was partially blocked; the security lock was broken; the […] squeeze (you had to use it to wash off the birds mess!) was on its last legs; the maintenance carts kept parking in the handicapped space and forced my friend, who also got a room for him and his wife, to park in nearest open space; be aware of reserving room for one night as the price is higher and the date is hard to get, but if you change your request for 2 or more nights, then the dates are opened up and the rates are a bit cheaper! Never again will we stay in this hotel - I also wished their website would've said there are major renovations going on, but we didn't find out until arrival; I'm surprised Hotel.com did not reviewed this "hotel" before allowing it to be posted on their website??? Service staff was not helpful. Hotel and restaurant were under construction, a fact not easily identified before booking. Maids left rooms unattended and open while cleaning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Sorry but the only good thing about this hotel during our recent 5 day stay was the position - on the bay, near the water, great views. When we booked there was a note that renovations to the restaurant were going on but they would be completed by August 1st. They weren't, and they won't be until probably sometime in September. Also, there was insufficient […] staff for the number of guests - checking in and out was generally a time-consuming let down. Also, several times when I called 'Guest Services' to query something, no-one answered the phone. Room was fine, cleaning staff excellent, breakfast OK, but not even up to Holiday Inn Express standards. Won't be returning. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Fantastic location, disappointing room."
I hate writing poor reviews but occasionally they're necessary. First the good stuff... the location is magnificent butted right up against the state park. The access and parking were more than ample. Never any difficulty finding a spot within an easy walk to my room. The gal at the table was pleasant but odd. I had asked for a room with any window […] looking outward which she simply ignored and gave me a room facing the courtyard. I commented again on the choice of rooms and she again ignored my question. It was odd. She never said there were no other rooms or anything, just ignored my request. I got the distinct impression that a discrete $20 may have made a difference. Something I don't do, so I let it go. The room was directly in front of a jacuzzi, hidden by a large white fence. It was filled with guests and of course the area reeked of bleach. I went back to registration and asked for another room, and was then told they were booked solid and I could upgrade to their "reserved room" for premium cost. Oh well, nothing to be done about it except not spend too much time in the room. The room was fine except the carpet was severely stained or dirty, making it slightly icky to walk barefooted... and there was no air conditioner. Instead only one small window that opened to the jacuzzi area. I will still recommend this place to my friends because the location is untouchable... but off season only and never on the ground level facing the courtyard. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Views, Average Service and Rooms"
This hotel has a beautiful setting and incredible views. It is a bit dated but getting renovated. I have traveled a lot and am used to getting a late check out without a lot of hassle. They offered 11:30 instead of 11 and said anything after 12 would incur a 1/2 room rate. Very inflexible and rule based instead of customer service based. It is a great […] for a night or two getaway though because of the setting and views. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Rooms and bathroom were too small. No space to place toiletries in bathroom also tile color is black. You can never tell if it is really clean. "The perfect Morro Bay location"
My room was described as partial bay view, but in reality it offered a sweeping view from Morro Rock to the southern estuary - the only things that rendered it "partial" were distant palms trees eclipsing the rock and a bit of aggressive landscaping off the balcony. The room was delightfully large and uncluttered with tasteful furnishings and a gas […] fire (which wasn't needed). The Inn is right right next to one of the protected bird sanctuaries, right across from the golf course and access to hiking trails, just down the road from the marina and museum, and only far enough from the embarcadero to spare you the traffic. Unfortunately the restaurant at the Inn, which was excellent in the past, is closed for renovation. The only significant negative is noise - perhaps because the location is so quiet, conversations in adjoining rooms and banging doors seem particularly magnified. Still, very appealing accommodations in a very beautiful location. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Staff was friendly. Decent hotel with bay views (if you choose) and a little viewing deck to make relaxing near the bay easier. Room was clean and comfortable. Fixtures seemed to be mostly updated. "Inn at Morro Bay"
The staff were courteous and polite however, I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. The carpet was covered with stains and I saw old sunflower seeds and lots of dust in areas that should have been vacuumed. A pleasant memory in deed. Hotel is in great secluded location right between the ocean and the Morro Bay Golf Course, but just a few minutes driving to the Embacadero and downtown area. "Not the excellence we remember from past visits."
It must be difficult to undergo the changes you are planning. Three areas have especially suffered: We loved your fine restaurant, excellent waterfront pub, and expert receptionists (the single individual working reception seemed overwhelmed). "Nice view. A few steps away from the water."
The hotel was under construction, so it was hard to find the front desk. We were lucky to get an oceanfront room, just steps away from the water. The building shows its age, but there was obviously some effort in restoring it. The room and the bathroom were clean and simple. There was no A/C vent, although there was a thermostat on the wall (we were […] wondering if we were changing the temperature in a room somewhere ;-) A/C was really unnecessary as it was 62 degrees there at night during the summer. We just had to keep the windows open. Since the windows were open, I'm not sure how secure it is as there was only the electronic lock (no door chains) that can be easily opened from the inside. The concern was that the open window is only a few inches away from the door. The only barrier was the screen on the window. I think this should be addressed by management. We also called for extra pillows, but nobody came--at all. Overall, we loved the view. Nothing beats waking up in the morning, looking out the window, taking in fresh air and seeing wildlife out in the water. That's why despite of my security concerns, I rate this hotel generally a 4. "Peaceful setting, but watch for birds!"
The Inn at Morro Bay is located within Morro Bay State Park. It is a quiet place surrounded by tall eucalyptus trees and a bird sanctuary to the south. Our car was covered by overnight condensation from the trees overhead, leaving tea-colored stains all over. Fortunately, they had a car wash station with a bucket, soap, and hose near the parking lot. […] The handyman saw what we were doing and lent us some towels to dry the car after we washed it. He told us the bird sanctuary can be a problem too, so you may want to park in the northern parking lot. The ocean view is minimal, obscured by a breakwater. The Inn is really not close to anything. You will likely need to take your car to go into town for a restaurant. There was construction during our stay, so I'm expecting the Inn to be to have a restaurant next trip. The Inn is a motel structure, but we didn't have any noise issues as some have posted. The rooms are simple. We found the bed to be comfortable, but it only had two soft pillows. What do you do if you need a firm pillow? Most places we stay tend to have a wider selection of pillows. There is nothing we have against making a return trip to the end, but I can't think of any reason why we would return. It would be nice if there were waves from the shore that would soothe us into sleep, but that's not happening there. However, if we planned our trip around activities at the state park, then the Inn is a perfect place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel is under renovation. Call hotel for updates."
I made our reservation months ago. We were not informed that the hotel is under renovation. Part of why I made the reservations at the Inn is that they had a nice restaurant and bar on site...these were closed due to the renovations. The room itself was alright, but a bit hot and stuffy. The windows are down low so you can see the bay but the shutters […] they have block much of the ventilation and cannot be fully opened because the bed is placed right up against the shutters. We were disappointed with our stay here, especially considering there was no discount for having to put up with the renovation construction. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
