The front desk clerk during the day works very hard to make you happy. The room was great. 4 twin beds for me, daughter and friend who came to meet us for a few days. Breakfast was average. We thought thought the hotel was fine. Were a bit concerned after reviewing some of the prior comments, but on the whole no real problems. We just used it to sleep and have breakfast during a trip to Paris. Used a room for 5 for the family. While checking us in another guy helped us with some travel questions and genuinely seemed to enjoy helping us (it was during a snow storm and things were shut down around Paris). I've lived in Europe and stayed in many European hotels. A lot of these hotels use creative photographic angles and sweet verbiage to describe an otherwise run-of-the-mill hotel. This hotel is a classic example of those tactics. Plus when we got to our room, the beds were made, but there was obvious food and dirt on the floor, towels piled in the shower, […] a dirty coffee cup on the nightstand...it was like the maid was interrupted in mid-cleaning and forgot to return. Having said that, when we told the front desk of our problem, they did have the room cleaned by the time we returned that evening. The neighborhood is seedy; had my wallet stolen at the Metro stop there. It's a very average hotel...there are hundreds like these in Paris, but we thought the property was much more upscale from the description and photos, and it's not. Read more

My main problem was with the Internet connection, which was not working. When I went down, after trying to get some help with it several times already, the guy behind the desk yelled that it was working for him. Well, he didn't seem to get the point that it wasn't working for me, and although I was quite happy for him, it didn't solve my problem. So, […] I started yelling back and after a while another guy, seems to be the guy who fixes things around the hotel, came overr and he went and restarted the routers (which the desk guys said they had been doing, but which hadn't helped for the past 12 hours) and finally I could get online. Even once online it was a terrible setup that made you relog everytime your device wasn't used for more than a couple of minutes. Overall, there was one really nice guy, the first night I checked in. it is just fine if all you are doing is sleeping there which we did. It is 5 minutes from Pigalle train stop from which you can connect everywhere. the neighborhood itself has a bunch of s*x shops. Very close to Moulin Rouge. The night life is not the classiest, but i had fun. TIP: we exchanged money around there for NO comission with a pretty good […] rate 1.3 dollars=1 euro, so i would suggest changing it there instead of the airport. There is a couple of places right on Clichy between the mcdonalds and the moulin rouge(on that side of the street). Cab ride from Eiffel tower was 17 euros and cab to latin quarter was 14 or so. so it is a little removed but completely doable. once you learn your way around and the train maps it is a no brainer to get to wherever you want to go. Next time, however, i will try and stay in a different area. the hotel itself is basic, rooms are small!!! nice front staff, breakfast has yogurt juice coffee, cakes, croissants, tea... nothing crazy. we woke up a little late so we only had bfast one day, so to us it wasn't worth it. they have a airport service for 18 euros per person, highly recommend it since lugging your bags in the train is no fun when they don't have escalators or elevators. This was one of the few hotels that could accommodate our family of 5 in one room. The hotel is situated between the eclectic Montmatre region and the more formal Opera area, about a 15-20 min walk in either direction to reach those sites. We didn't have time to explore the streets around the hotel, but we saw a good number of bistros of varying degree […] of sophistication, along with a lot of music shops. It should be noted that the closest metro station, Pigalle, is right on the edge of the red light district, so that could be slightly unnerving to some. The hotel is convenient but with tight spaces! If you have mobility issues, or a large number of suitcases, contact the hotel as only one side of the hotel has elevator access. Our room was just about large enough for us and our 5 suitcases (we were in Europe for a month!), with careful rearrangement of the furniture. The room was clean, modern and used space efficiently; beds were clean and comfortable. There was a flat screen TV, hairdryer, desk and a safe. The 5th bed was an adequate roll out trundle. The hotel staff were generally friendly and helpful with directions, and speak English, but don’t expect concierge service. We purchased a room with breakfast included. This consisted of self-serve croissants, meats and cheeses, cereals, fruit and yoghurts, the usual fare; reasonably healthy and tasty. This hotel is a few blocks from the Moulin Rouge. We didn't realize that within a few books, would be every kind of "naughty" for sale that you can imagine. Walking back to the hotel one night, there were NO lights on anywhere, on the whole block. Not even at the hotel itself. We found the hotel doors barred, literally with a BAR between the doors, […] and were let in after knocking. Our two pre-teens didn't seem to notice, and I didn't want to have a big discussion. The hotel itself was very run down. Maybe the structure is rotting because the water from the showers runs right out onto the floor. Both of the soap dispensers were broken, with no other soap or shampoo available. The towels were terribly rough and our mattress was so sunken in, it was like sleeping on a half deflated air mattress. The kids' twin beds were okay, and the linens were surprisingly clean and crisp. We didn't have breakfast there, so I can't comment on that. Read more

Rooms are too small, too noisy and the floor is very dirty. The towels are very old and with stain (at least the one we had). You easily hear your next door's conversation and ... !!! There is a safe in the room that is not attached to ANYTHING! You can easily grab it and take it out of the room! Elevator is too small, either you OR your luggage fit […] in that! For some of the rooms you actually had to go across the dark hallway and take stairs again!!! I guess it wasn't that bad of a stay, except for that we lugged tons of luggage up to the 6th floor -- the small elevator only goes to the 4th floor, then you must walk down a hall way and up 2 flights of stairs. However, the hotel indicated that they have free wifi (they do technically) but I was unhappy that the wifi was not available in my room consistently. Ok, it's far from the airport....well not really but when the cab driver doesn't know where the hotely is and has you lost for 4.5 hours for what should have been a 20 minute cab ride....well, enough of that. You should know to tell the cab driver that it is near the Pigalle metro station and you shouldn't pay more then 68 Euro to get there. If not, […] call the hotel and get them to send you a taxi. We didn't know this and paid 100 Euro for our ride from hell. There were some great little places to eat around the hotel. Breakfast is NOT included but is reasonable. The hotel is on the main metro line which can take you anywhere......just be prepared to walk and do steps in between lines. The metro is not for the disabled. The hotel is very old but is in the process of getting renovated. The elevators do NOT go to all of the rooms so be prepared to haul your luggage up some steps. The toilet room is also very small and the ventilation system is simply a window that opens up into a central area that everyone's window opens up into....which can stink at times. The staff is extremely friendly and full of information. They mapped out our route for us on the metro every day to make sure we could maximize our visits to the tourist sites.....Eiffel tower, Louvre, etc. I would definitely stay here again AFTER it has been renovated. Our family of 5 stayed here because it was the only place we could find where all of us could stay together. Our room was fine; one king bed, two twin beds and a trundle. As a pleasant surprise, we had a small private courtyard with a cafe table and two chairs. The desk clerks were very pleasant and helpful, the public lounge was and the breakfast, […] while somewhat crowded, was adequate. My only reservation was the neighborhood. I have been to Montmartre several times, but never with children, and I probably won't bring them to this area again. It was, perhaps, a good education for my middle-school-aged son. I did not feel completely safe walking home from the Pigalle stop after the late show at Moulin Rouge, but fortunately, nothing bad happened. The only bars open late were strip clubs. The bathroom window was broken with no screen door and the room was much smaller than expected.
