Hotel Colosseum - Rome

This hotel met all of our needs. It was very near the Train Bus terminal, just a 10 minute walk to catch the Airport bus. We were able to walk to many of the tourist sites. The Staff was very helpful, confirming air travel and even getting me a Cappuccino before breakfast hours, for my walk to the Airport Bus.

Only stayed here one night while visiting Rome, but very satisfied with our experience. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Our room was on the 6th floor and had a beautiful view of the city. You could see the colosseum from the hotel room window. Very near metro stop, via cavour. you can easily walk to the colosseum and nearby roman forum. great location […] with lots of food choices, internet cafes, souvenir shops nearby. i wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. oh and my favorite part of the hotel was the rooftop patio where we ate pizza and drank beer while looking at the night-time skyline of rome. it was awesome. The location in terms of the distance to many places was excellent. This goes especially for the train station, Colosseum, Palatine and Santa Maria Maggiore. Even in the heat of August, walking to these sites was manageable. The rooms were in excellent condition, and you are far enough from the beaten path that the hotel is quiet. The only complaints […] were with the shower--luckily I am a rather thin person. However, I can see a more robust individual having a problem using the shower as both the door opening and shower itself were small--and the wall safe--hard to use a safe when they don't give you a key to lock it. The free breakfast wasn't the most amazing, but it's free, so I wouldn't expect it to be that way anyway. The rooftop deck provided excellent views, and if I was there in Spring or Fall, I would certainly spend evenings up there enjoying a glass of wine. Read more

I chose this hotel because the prices were great, the location was near the colosseum, and they had a room type called "family room" which had 4 beds and 2 bathrooms. My 2 kids are teens, but never having been abroad with them, I wanted to keep them (and my wife) in the room with me. The hotel was very clean and nice, pretty close to the Colosseum. A little strange that you have to give the key to the front desk every time you leave the hotel. We also arrived at 1:15pm and check in is not until 2pm. The person at the front desk didn't even check to see if our room was ready just stated that we must wait until 2pm. I think this is […] slightly ridiculous, I understand that 2pm is standard but during our stay in Italy never experienced someone not letting us check in early at other hotels as we had been traveling with backpacks and it was never a problem. You can't beat the location. It's walking distance from the main train terminal, so you can walk with your luggage. It's 2 blocks from a subway and about 10 minute walk to the colosseum. The hotel is too old fashioned and the front desk people are overly involved in your personal business. You have to give the key to the front desk every time you come in or out. If you bring a guest, they will charge you an extra $40.00 and tell you its the policy of them and Italy. I'll never stay here again.

It was located near the Colosseum but be ready to walk A LOT if going to Italy. Bring your tennis shoes. It is all up hill! The hotel was as nice as could be expected for a crazy busy city. I would stay there again

Hotel is well located to all sites. Room was very small but very clean and served all our needs. Beds were rather firm but still comfortable. Breakfast was more than ample. Room was very quite (we slept with the window open.) The reason for this is due to the location of the hotel being on the BACK side of the busy road. At first it seems strange walking […] up the ally to the hotel entrance but after you realize the location is safe and is a perk, you get over it quickly. Wireless internet speed was excellent. (cost was 10E for 3 days) After we learned our way around the neighborhood we liked the location even more. Lots of restaurant choices within easy and safe walking distance. You can easily eat with the locals or with the tourists --> on the strip or on the back streets, its all right there you just need to explore. Metro is at the end of the street - very convenient. This is not the hotel if you want to lounge around the lobby and sip coffee. There is no food except at breakfast, though you can buy water at the front desk. But there are also local food stores around the corner. The hotel is best described as a safe, quiet place to crash after a long day of walking. For checking your e-mail and cleaning up for a night out. The bathroom and shower are in separate rooms - shower ROOM is tiny, but the shower is modern and lots of pressure and hot water. The toilet, bidet and sink ROOM is large, clean and modern. I would stay again. Read more

Personnel were very helpful & polite. Tucked back in a side street made it hard to find but quiet. Bed was hard and TV was small but with only CNN and BBC available is doesn't matter. Shower floor is very slick when wet be careful. Overall, a good value for the location just a short walk from the ancient city sites.

The gentlemen at the front desk were exceptionally nice and helpful. They recommended a restaurant that was so good (and moderately priced) that we went back a second time. The room was somewhat small, but the view more than made up for the size. The roof garden is wonderful too.

It was just ok for the price. I thought the hotel is way overpriced for the room and bathroom size and for the neighborhood area. The shower was so small that you couldn't raise your elbows inside it and when you opened the shower door it would hit the toilet. Staff were wonderful and very helpful. The bed's were not overly comfortable but that did not really detract from my enjoyment. The only caution that I would give people is that this hotel is located at the top of a steep hill so be prepared for that when you are walking back to the hotel. Overally I would highly reccommend this hotel.

The hot and sour sour is wonderful as our their other dishes. Don't hesitate to use the metro system. There is a stop on Cavour and use it to get to the attractions. You will save yourself a TON of walking. Yes it's crowed but it's a fun experience. AND dirt cheap! In spite of the fact that we booked a double room we received a tiny, dark room with 2 tiny single beds. When we opened the window with an expectation to see the beautiful city all I saw was the stained wall of the next building right in front of my nose. I almost cried when I saw this and when we tried to change our room we received a similar room […] this time with 3 tiny single beds. After waking up with back pain from this tiny bed next to the wall - which I still suffer from - we pleaded to find a larger room with at least a double bed as according to our printed receipt after further pleading we finally received a normal room where we slept the last night. My bed was like sleeping on a firm bag of flour... But the bathrooms were nice and clean (Summer 2012) and the air conditioning worked well in the Roman heat! For European standards it was a nice hotel. We had one bad experience though. Be careful leaving bags in the bag check room. It is unmonitored and we had a bag stolen from there, very distressing (at the beginning of an 8 day vacation). Great location in relation to the Colosseum. Pretty quiet.

If you are looking for a place to shower and sleep then this is the hotel for you. If you are looking for all the extras then you may need to look elsewhere. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from the Rome Termini station and maybe about a 5 minute walk from the Colosseum. There is a train station about 2 minutes from the hotel as well.
