"Thin walls, but close to NIH and restaurants"
The rooms are small and the walls are thin, letting in a lot of noise from neighboring TVs. Still, the location is excellent and breakfast was exceptional: a waffle machine, hardboiled eggs, breakfast sandwiches, cereal, pastries, yogurt, juice, coffee, etc.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ok sleep and shower"
I just needed a place to sleep and shower for one night, this place sufficed for that.Genuine Expedia guest review
"close to NIH"
It was very pleasant. One thing that i did not like is that the comode in my room was not cleaned properly nor had a strip stating that it had been previously sanitized.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"American Inn of Bethesda"
In order to access the workout room, we had to go through the parking garage to the back. My daughter and I were staying for an interview and we felt unsafe walking through the parking garage to a remote area to exercise. The restaurant that was attached to the hotel was under construction with plastic hanging around the seating area.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Better than your average 2 star hotel"
Stayed for two nights and overall enjoyed myself. I wouldn't rate this hotel a 2 star. Maybe 2 1/2 or even 3.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Walls too thin"
The hotel was no better than "fine." The room was clean enough, but very small. The walls were too thin -- in addition to hearing a neighbor in the next room (never pleasant in a hotel late at night), there was a lot of hallway noise, and someone's alarm clock went off at 5 a.m. and woke me at least 2 minutes before it was finally turned off. The front […] desk staff was nice, but when I checked in I thought she said breakfast went until 10:30 -- either I heard her wrong or she said it wrong, because breakfast was only until 9:30; if I had been given something in writing I would have caught my (or her) error and been downstairs in time. Overall, it was the least expensive option in the neighborhood but for was very overpriced. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"decent hotel while being bombed..."
Good but overpriced hotel, local was very conveinent for my stay at NIH. Considering the bad news I received. Drop the price, you might get more guests.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We are very satisfied with the hotel. The location was perfect, which has a lot of restaurants and bars. The staff was very kind, the parking was free, the breakfast was nice that I could use waffle machine. Our two bed room was wide enough as well. There was a more expensive hotel next this hotel, and compared to the hotel, this hotel did hard bargain. We […] will definitely come back to the hotel, if we visit the area! "Waste of money"
The hotel Is old and dirty. The hotel mgr was on site and was ride but the girl at the front desk was pleasant. The area around the ice machines in the hall was filthy. The rooms are super small. The bed and pillows very uncomfortable. The bathroom was even smaller. Hot water took about 5 minutes to get hot. I booked for 2 nights and it was so bad I […] left after the 1st night even though I paid in advance for 2! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Suited our needs"
The hotel suited our needs. We stayed 3 nights the end of December. The hotel and rooms were clean. The mattresses were comfortable and slept well. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, they helped find near-by restaurants, answered hotel questions, helped with transportation to metro subway. The rooms were not the most up to date but pleasant. […] Not real satisfied with the continental breakfast, we ended up eating somewhere else the last 2 mornings. The metro subway is farther than the hotel advertises. Just have to plan for other transportation after 3pm and plan for breakfast alternatives, and parking lot holds only about 10 cars maybe. But I would recommend this hotel to family & friends, price is good, service is friendly & helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Tired and in need of a renovation"
The office staff was friendly there were no problems with the checking in and out of the hotel. However, the elevator was dirty and the carpets throughout the lobby area were dirty and tired looking. The lower half of the wall across from our room had caved in and the wallpaper was half attached with a piece of electrical tape in an attempt to cover […] the hole! There were drywall chips and dust all over the floor. The sink in our bathroom had a 2 inch thick layer of caulk around it seemingly to keep it attached to the wall and the hot water would come and go while taking a shower. The carpets were dingy and the ceiling tiles had water stains. Breakfast was pretty much cleaned up before the 9:30 finish time and the employees were happy to finsh off the waffle mix as my son and I ate. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Clean and comfortable. Wonderful staff. Great location. Easy to take metro into DC. Also offers free parking and breakfast. The facility is in need of some updating but as mentioned is very clean as is.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to NIH"
The bed was comfortable, but the elevator did not work well, the buttons would not work half the time trying to get to the 5th floor. The room was nice for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
convenient location. One bed rooms are very small, but the two-beds are fine. Maintenance and cleanliness are not great. Parking is limited, but there is a parking lot nearby, and a nice courtesy of the hotel is that they put money in the meters at 7-10 AM.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

It was nice and quiet. It was close to my daughter eventGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I was attending meetings at a nearby conference center. This hotel was very conveniently located, and provided a comfortable bed and clean room at a great price. The subway was a short to moderate walk away, and the neighborhood felt very safe. There were several good restaurant options nearby. The decor of the lobby and hallways of the hotel was quite […] dated, but the room seemed to have been updated more recently. The walls were not very soundproof. Noise from the adjacent room was intrusive on one of the nights of my stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Affordable & convenient"
We wanted to stay close to Walter Reed as well as to a Metro station. The American Inn is older but well maintained. The Metro is an easy walk. The Inn does have a shuttle that will go up to one mile away. The breakfast was adequate & contained pretty normal hot & cold choices. We'd stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good price for the location"
I stayed here on a recent trip to DC and found it to be a good location and pretty good for the price, but not perfect. I was worried about the "limited parking" but it was not a problem. They have a small lot and garage onsite, but if those fill up they have you park in a public lot across the street which they pay for until 10am. I guess if you planned […] on leaving your car parked your whole stay, you would just have to move it over the next morning when the garage empties for the day. The room was small but clean and comfortable. However, the hot water took a little while to reach the room and never got real hot. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel but parking sucks."
This hotel is nice, clean, remodeled. Some of the rooms are small so if there are two of you get a larger a room or you will not have any place for your suitcases. The parking sucks. There are only about 15 parking spaces at the hotel that are "free". If you dont get one of these spots you will have to park about a block away in a public lot. The lot […] is free on SAT and SUN but you have to pay via a meter on every other day. I would not stay here again simply because of the parking arrangements, otherwise it is a nice hotel with nice staff. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Will not recommend under any circumstance."
I couldn't believe how small the room was, there was no room at all to even maneuver properly, it was a joke. The bathroom and overall cleanliness of the room was disgusting, I felt like I was breathing in bacteria the entire time I was there. While it is in a great and safe location, it needs an immediate facelift and complete overhaul. The towels […] were thin and old, sinks were small, it took 20 minutes for hot water in the shower. All issues were unacceptable for the price of the room. I would clearly not recommend this as an option even for a one night stay. Thankfully, front desk staff was hospitable and proffessional, after one night, I checked out, I felt claustrophobic and I'm barely 5ft tall and only weigh 110 pounds. Literally there was no room in the room. Plus the complimentary breakfast was a joke, it was worse than going into a 7 Eleven. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Small but not uncomfortable"
The room and bathroom were small but not uncomfortable. The television worked and had a good selection of free channels. I did not try the radio on this visit (in my experience, the radios are usually neglected and non-functional). The parking is very limited, but I was able to move my car from the public pay parking lot across the street (the hotel […] provides a complimentary pass) soon after checking in. "Decent, Comfortable Hotel"
The rooms were a little small. But thinking that this is near D.C. and that is near a metro, the hotel has all the ammenities you can think of. The breakfast had small selections, but it was a nice to have. The rooms came with wireless internet and a very extensive lineup of TV channels. Albeit small, I do like that there is at least a few FREE parking […] spots. It's also nice that there's a county lot (free after 10pm and on Sundays). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A good Value"
We really just wanted to have a room to commute in and out of DC. It was clean, maybe a little on the small side. The pool was clean and had a life guard. The best part was the restaurant Guapo's that it attached, fantastic Tex-Mex at a great price!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fine hotel for the traveler."
While this hotel is showing signs of age - furnishings, decor - it is well kept and clean with helpful staff. My room was small but since I was traveling alone, it worked. I was pleased to find a free shuttle to the Metro. I also enjoyed a fine breakfast and pleasant view by the pool.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Small and comfortable ."
This hotel is overall good. There were no issues @ this hotel. I arrived and parking was free for the first half of the month. There are so many stores , shops and restaurants in this area. Everything you would need at your door step incase you forget anything so good for travelers and families . The room was small but very comfortable . The plus for […] me was the flat screen tv and the mini fridge in the room. I think all hotels should have a mini fridge in the room now and days if your gonna spend money on it . The in room safe came in handy for my laptop. The bed was a five star bed . It was super comfortable. The hotel and room was clean. The staff were friendly and social. The breakfast was a plus because not all hotels offer it complimentary. It was simple and a good way to start me day. After I checked out I use the computer in the computer room also complimentary to print some oil change coupons . My stay was pleasant and comfortable . I would stay again if I was in the Bethesda area . Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

No parking... They tell you to park across the street which is a public parking lot with meters. Hotel was under construction and they were making noise all hours of the day and NIGHT. Who does construction at 6 am or 11 pm.... InsanityGenuine Expedia guest review

"Close to metro and food."
We chose this hotel cause it is close to the metro and was cheaper than staying in DC. The staff was helpful in telling us how to get to the metro and other things we might be interested in seeing. The hotel is pretty close, about half a mile, to the metro station and there are many places to go out to eat (including a place connected to the hotel). […] The breakfast was pretty good, the room was very clean, the staff was AMAZINGLY helpful. We decided to stay an extra night, but our room was already reserved for someone else so we had to change rooms (which was fine with us), the hotel staff moved our stuff for us into our new room and there was no damage to any of our belongings. "This hotel has a new part and an old part, Beware!"
OK, when we got there the first thing you do when you walk through the lobby is notice the smell of what seems like cow manure, seriously. The first night we were there we were put in a corner room, it was hot, musty, old, and right by a hallway door that slammed all night. I was desperate and was ready to lose the money I already paid for the hotel […] and go get another room at a different hotel. I told the hotel manager my concerns and he reluctantly gave us another room. It was like a complete other hotel, it was cleaner nicer and the AC actually worked. I took a good look at the building, there is a older building and a newer one, so if you stay here make sure you get a room in the newer part. It is a night and day difference, my kids dubbed the first night's room the "reject room" . The area is nice, many shops within walking distance... but watch out if you get a room in the older part, it is horrible. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Hotel is clean and close to all in Bethesda. A LOT OF NOISE as our room was directly in front of the rooftop airconditioning equiptment , and we were on the first floor! VERY limited parking and it's first come first serve and they would not move the hotel's van out of a spot to accomodate, and there is no street parking on Wisconsin Ave or the surrounding […] blocks so you will have to pay to park.
