I was looking for a cheap, clean room and the El Castell did not disappoint. Too far from beach to walk, but only a short drive away. Since I was only crashing there overnight, didn't really expect much for the price. The staff was very nice and the breakfast (cereal, juice, coffee, pastry, make your own waffles) was actually a nice bonus - just wish there was protein option. Rooms a bit small and dated, but bathroom was exceptionally clean. Nice that there wasfree fridge and microwave in room. I would stay again and recommend it if you understand it is basic 2 star hotel.

Nice enough place but rooms arent quite what they show on the website. And charging $20 for parking? Would be a nice place for a small family, particularly the junior sus. However, i think its moderately overpriced for the hotel and area.

The room was not very clean and the t.v. could not be viewed from your bed - only if you sat on the couch. Stupid. The heater was radiant heat and took about 45 minutes to warm the room. Best thing about the hotel was the continental breakfast - quite ample and quite good.

My wife and I however were awoken many times from guests who were conversing loudly after 11pm in the hallway as they went to their rooms. We were not overwhelmed but it was nice.Our room faced the street so there was traffic noise. It was a nice room with a separate living room area, and had a great large flat screen TV. Carpets were frayed and had spots. Furnishings were a little tired. Toilet paper roll was less than half when we checked in and we had to search for a new roll. I had a very comfortable stay at Hotel Pacific. It was a minutes walk to the Monterey Conference Center. The accommodation had bed, bath, living room, microwave, refrigerator and Large screen TV. The decor was excellent. The service personnel were friendly and efficient.

Over 25 years ago my husband and I spent our honeymoon at Hotel Pacific.Then we would return from time to time. There used to be wine, tea and cheese in the afternoon. I also remember the Bubble bath in the jar and a lovely shell to scoop it out. That was a nice extra. I understand things do change with the economy. we came to this hotel for our anniversary. The rooms were spacious and comfy but beware! Our room was on Pacific St side and we didn't sleep AT ALL because the traffic noise was SO loud! It sounded like the cars were driving through our room! Not what we were hoping for on our romantic weekend. Also, there is a rediculous parking fee and the parking […] is RIGHT BELOW the hotel! I would expect this from a hotel with a separate parking area or a valet but this hotel had neither - we parked ourselves in the lot directly below the hotel so to us this was a VERY rediculous charge. THE HOTEL WAS NICE AND COZY ROOMIE CLOSE TO THE BEACH AND SHOPPING WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN IF YOU WANT QUIET DONT GET A ROOM FACING THE ROAD OTHER THEN THAT IT WAS A GREAT STAY.

What a wonderful place to stay. From the minute we arrived on our bikes to the time we left : Great Service, Beautiful suite(2nd floor-great view), our wives were thrilled. Close to wharf, shopping and easy walking distance to both. Definitely where we will stay in Monterey on future trips.

Stayed here about 12 years ago, afternoon tea had a beautiful spread. This visit, apples, bananas, oranges and tea, period. What a great hotel! The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. It was ideal for families. The breakfast was perfect and the staff was extremely polite and helpful. It was just a short walk to Dennis the Menace park which is a favorite for our children. We will definitely be staying here again. Thanks Hotels.com:)

This hotel has a great location - few minutes walk to Fisherman's wharf and just across from some of the main historic buildings in Monterey. Be aware - parking in Monterey is paid - this hotel provides parking but for $19/day. If you have a pet, there is $50 deposit - this is not obvious when you book through Expedia. I was pretty impressed when I walked into my room, it seemed more like a little apartment than a hotel. Gas woodburning fireplace was awesome! Everything was perfect, comfortable bed, little fridge, coffee maker, etc.. We came after new years when everything slowed down so it was perfect, and wasnt too loud! Would come back!

We loved our stay at Hotel Pacific. I was a little worried about there being double beds instead of queens, but they were quite spacious and the bedding was luxurious and super comfortable.
