"Good location, Decent room, but warm room"
Pros: walking distance to Fisherman's Warf and other shopping; safe feeling surroundings for me and my two young boys to walk around; pleasant staff; check in and out was easy; kitchen area (although not used); continental breakfast (not used); second shower (not used). Cons: my boys found a plastic bag in one of the dresser drawers that had a few personal […] items in it which was kinda gross...I didn't even want to look inside; it was VERY warm in the room, even with the ceiling fan on. So warm in fact that we slept on top of the beds and then at 3am, I opened the balcony door to let air in, but then we could hear the street commotion below. There were two air controls in the room, but even when I turned them on, nothing happened. When the maid turned down the beds, she covered up one of my son's blankets, so he started to panic when we arrived back to our room and he couln't find it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Just A place to stay"
Hotel check in staff unfriendly when I arrived; friendlier as time went by. The common areas tired, worn and looked slightly unkempt. Needs a frshening up of floors, paint, furnishings and window treatments. Rooms had nice bedding and beds, but tile floors looked dirty. Rooms were roomy enough with lovely individual private balconies.Genuine Expedia guest review
Super large room. Close to where we needed to go. Only negative was the bed wasn't comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Loved our stay"
We fell in love with Monterey! We went for 2 days and had an amazing time. We were a little nervous about how old this hotel was, but it was great. The room was very spacious, very clean and we loved it. We had a little balcony that overlooked the street and we loved sitting out there while we did some computer work. The breakfast was good. They give […] you a tray in your room so you can grab your food and go back to eat in in your room. I wish they had more hot foods. But the fruit was fresh and they had many muffin and bagel choices. The hotel is close enough to walk to most places. We ended up renting bikes for 24 hours and we rode everywhere we needed to go. We didn't get a rental car. It was perfect. We will stay here again! "Great location in Monterey"
Great location. We upgraded the room for $20 a day and paid another $20 for underground parking. No ocean views anywhere, and a very busy street to one side with major traffic noise. Request 4th floor, if available. Restaurants along Alvarado Street and Fisherman's Wharf are an easy walk, but unsure how far is Cannery Row from the hotel. My wife had […] some hair products missing upon checkout. Not sure what happened. Big flat screen TV with plenty of channels. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Appreciate the upgrade:)"
Allen the hotel registeraar gave us an upgrade for our anniversary.. Nice huge room with our own gated porch/yard. Very relaxing. There is an opening on the side of the hotel that people can access from the street and get to your room. Needs a secure gate and security cameras and more toasters in the breakfast buffet. Had a traffic jam trying to make […] toast. Other than that, I loved it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"nice, close to bay"
room very large and somewhat unique with fireplace and eating area. bathroom extremely nice. sofa somewhat worn.Genuine Expedia guest review
We have stayed at the Pacific several times over the last years. The rooms are very spacious, attractive and pleasant. This time, however, we noticed a substantial decline in maintenance and upkeep: odors in the exterior hallways, broken tile, cracked granite, cracks in sinks, really dirty carpet, dark spots on white blankets, musty odoretc. In addition, […] after needing to bump our stay one night, and Expedia being unable to locate the reservation, we contacted the hotel directly. They had the reservation on file, and moved the date, indicating it was no problem. When we arrived, they did not have our reservation and claimed we did not call. My husband showed them the calls on his cell and they found us a room, though not the one we reserved. This one was on the street- very noisy. They moved us to a different room, again not the size we reserved. We elected to stay. At breakfast they handed us a wooden tray with dried food on it. When we mentioned it, they slapped a paper placemat over it and returned it. This bespeaks an attitude about general cleanliness! We are sorry to see this deterioration as we enjoyed previous stays. Very satisfy hotel was clean the only disappointment is that we need to paid for parking lotGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Not a good experience. For the hotel rating and money paid, it's not worth it. No air condition in the room w/c I could understand it gets cool during the night but when we arrived in the afternoon hit and tired and the room is hot and stuffy, it's not very welcoming, I was told to open the windows but it's either deal w/ street noise or boil . Called […] the front desk and they sent a room fan (not too clean) and found out when I got home they charged my card $2.15 plus steep parking fee of $20.00. The outside corridor is quite dirty, the continental breakfast you can skip, won't miss anything. All in all I give this hotel 2 1/2-3 star rating! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We booked this trip last minute and greatly enjoyed our stay. The room was very nice and we loved how close the hotel was to the Tuesday night farmers market and the wharf. The lobby staff was excellent and I would like to give an extra special thank you to the young lady working the desk overnight because she was nice enough to loan me a deck of cards […] after I forgot to bring mine. "Needs updating of interior"
The rooms need to be refreshed- Bathroom upgrades, fresh paint, etc. Also, Parking is a nightmare; At $20.00 a night there are not enough parking spaces. We witnessed several cars parked in the drive way entrance and in the streets. There were several open parking spaces, however they were blocked with hotel supplies and being used for storage of hotel […] items. At one point we noticed family struggling to find a parking space, so the Dad (driver) got out of their vehicle to move these supplies in order to park their vehicle ! "One block away from Wharf"
Very close distance to the main wharf for concessions, restaurants, souvenirs, coffee. The main street (Alvarado St.) also a block away with more stores and restaurants. Easy drive to the rest of the Monterey Peninsula - Carmel, Moss Landing, Pacific Grove.Genuine Expedia guest review
The service was not the best at the front desk, the young Asian girl seem lazy and not very helpful . Ladies serving the breakfast were super nice and hard workers. Parking is super expensive $20. Daily. Rooms are beautiful but the outside is dirty for example the doors and elevators. Lobby needs some improvement.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful hotel and great location"
What a great find! It is older so does not have the shiny new look, but it has so much character! Huge rooms, comfy bed,, nice little balcony, fireplace. I was really happy with my room and will definitely return.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Didn't have a room"
I reserved a room two months in advance, but when I got there, they were out of rooms. The hotel staff didn't seem even remotely apologetic about this fact, and sent me to a dumpy motel outside of Monterey, despite the fact that I paid $250 for my room in advance.Genuine Expedia guest review
The only problem was that they gave us a room that had stairs to get to the room after exiting the elevator.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to shopping"
The hotel staff was friendly The room was really spacious. We where really impressed on how big the room was and how nice it was for the price.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Too expensive for what you get"
Really enjoyed it the first time this time not so much. Over priced for what you got. Enjoy the rooms very skimpy on the amenities.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Dissapointed in reservations"
Unfortunately I couldn't tell you how the hotel was because an hour out I was bumped to their sister property in Pacific Grove. We were both disappointed with the quality of the Lighthouse Inn. It was not DT Monterey like we planned and have to hire transportation back and forth. Overall, just a bit upset how we were treated. There was basically no […] empathetic feeling from the employees that I interacted with. I understand things happen but felt no remorse especially receiving an expensive, unequal room. I have called and sent emails to speak with a manager, but no one has responded yet. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Close to downtown, and great restaurants, easy two blocks to Wharf and walk/bike trail. Cannery Row just down the trail less than a mile, walking along the bay. Dog friendly, parking, great grocery store on corner. Our room is always with a great eating area, refrigerator, microwave. Fireplace, decent balcony and plenty of space.Genuine Expedia guest review
The room was big and clean but no air condition I like the location and staff are helpful. Breakfast is ok I wish they have any type of meat like sausage or bacon. All it is was full of muffin and bread with 2 type of fruits. Very accommodating for the dogs they have a little backyard in the patio for them to poo and peep. It was loud outside especially […] when people are going to their rooms. I can hear the noise of their luggage on the cart. If there is air condition I will definitely come back. The bed was huge and there's a little living room and a coffe table plus a patio but I cannot see view outside except for the wall plus a little backyard for the dog. I just think it's overprice just for the parking there was $20. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Centrally located to downtown and the harbor. Great walking location. Cool climate, luckily they have radiant heat no a/c.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was okay, but our room faced out to a wall from the "balcony" whereas the other rooms seemed to face open space. Consequently it was very dark in our room. The light over the sink and make-up mirror was burned out so it was difficult to see. I asked housekeeping one day, and the front desk the next next day, to please replace the light, but […] in 3 days it was not taken care of. Breakfast was good except around 9 was very busy and the one lone person in charge was frantic to wash plates and utensils to refill empty areas. We ate earlier the last morning and it was much better. Overall, I think the hotel was nice (great location) and I think if we had had another room I would have been much happier. If we ever go there again i will specifically ask for a room looking out over open space. I just think when one thing isn't good, it affects your entire stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Our hotel stay was very positive however they need to work out the installation between hotel rooms because you would assume in a normal hotel room you could use a standard indoor voice. "Older Hotel near Monterey Wharf"
My husband and I stayed at Hotel Pacific for one night before a business meeting in Monterey. The hotel check-in was adequate, but the gentleman who helped us did not offer any tips of the area or even a local map. The hotel is an older, semi-remodeled hotel which is made up of 6 different buildings. Our room was on the 2nd floor, but we were still […] below street level since the hotel is on a slight slope. The room was comfortable with a couch in a "separate" living area. The bed was fluffy- but in the middle of the night, the down comforter and feather bed became completely entangled and the sheets twisted and turned - not a comfortable night of sleep. The hotel also does not have air conditioning- which I was told is completely normal for Monterey- unfortunately, we were there during a warm spell. They did bring up a small desk fan to help cool down the room, which was clean and promptly delivered. The room had 2 pillars right in the middle of the room, which were odd ... we couldn't tell if the room had previously been a two-bedroom or large closet add-on. The bathroom was spacious, with 2 showers and 1 sink across a large bathroom counter top. The bath amenities were very nice and yummy smelling. The breakfast in the morning was continental- the juice and coffee were fine, but the milk for the cereal was room temperature and not very healthy. All in all, the hotel was clean and in good walking distance from Monterey Wharf. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Elephants at midnight, responsive staff"
It is a beautiful complex and our suite was nice, with a balcony overlooking a garden. Good location, an easy walk to Fisherman's Wharf, historic areas, and downtown. We caught the free MST trolley to Canary Row. Praise for the staff for the quick response when we called about our downstairs neighbor who thought she could smoke. The only negative is […] that around 12:30 the first night our upstairs neighbor arrived and I heard every step they took and every move they made for an hour before I could get back to sleep. We were surprised that the building was not more sound proof. Earplugs did the trick the following night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great stay in Downtown SF"
This hotel is a good option if you are planning on staying in downtown San Francisco. It's close to Union square and BART. The room was comfortable and clean. Parking is exorbitantly expensive around the area, including the hotel, so avoid taking a car if you can, and choose the public parking structures nearby if you want to reduce the hotel's cost […] by half (this is what I did). Just spent one night. The room was perfect, staff was just fine. The only complaint was our room was facing out to the busy street, so letting fresh air in from the balcony let A LOT of traffic noise in. But, with the balcony door shut it was no problem. I'll stay there again!Genuine Expedia guest review

"My favorite hotel"
I have stayed at the Pacifica many times, but this time it had been a while so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I found just as I had remembered: a gracious staff who are intent that guests have the best possible stay in Monterey. And, my room was comfy, quiet and a bit of heaven. Though I had my car along, I walked the few short blocks to dinner […] on the pier and breakfast in town. I won't wait so long to return again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It's time to update, paint & change decor"
Location is excellent and the surrounding area beautiful. The property is a lovely structure, however it is in a sad condition. It needs paint throughout the property. The furniture (worn & dirty) and decor has not changed since the 80's. It is dirty and dated. The older tile work is fine. Acquire some monies, make the changes and you could easily raise […] the rates because of the location and structure of hotel. Also, they should not be asking for $20. per night parking fee. It is not advertised as such. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rooms are Great, Facilities Need Some Updating"
The rooms at this place are great. They are big with a separate bed area, sitting area and small dining area. They also have balconies (or at least the room we stayed in did). Last time we stayed, our balcony faced the Pacific Ave. side. This time we got a balcony facing a fence. No view, but still nice to have the chance to go outside easily. Love […] the fireplaces in the rooms. The facilities just seem like they need a little upgrade. Although, when you get to your room you will be pleasantly surprised I think. The rooms have a very rustic feel to them. But the first time we came here, on our way to our room we thought we'd been swindled for the price. The Elevators leave you imagining the worst (or at least they did for me). Super close to everything in Monterey. Very romantic little spot, at least for me and my fine lady. My boyfriend and I stayed there for Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend. We were greeted by a very nice staff. (Kyme) and got to check into our room early. The hotel is older mediterranean style with tile and stucco. Could use a paint job. But when we got into our room it was so nice. So big, with a loveseat, fireplace, dinette and balcony.
