"Rooms are Great, Facilities Need Some Updating"
The rooms at this place are great. They are big with a separate bed area, sitting area and small dining area. They also have balconies (or at least the room we stayed in did). Last time we stayed, our balcony faced the Pacific Ave. side. This time we got a balcony facing a fence. No view, but still nice to have the chance to go outside easily. Love […] the fireplaces in the rooms. The facilities just seem like they need a little upgrade. Although, when you get to your room you will be pleasantly surprised I think. The rooms have a very rustic feel to them. But the first time we came here, on our way to our room we thought we'd been swindled for the price. The Elevators leave you imagining the worst (or at least they did for me). Super close to everything in Monterey. Very romantic little spot, at least for me and my fine lady. My boyfriend and I stayed there for Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend. We were greeted by a very nice staff. (Kyme) and got to check into our room early. The hotel is older mediterranean style with tile and stucco. Could use a paint job. But when we got into our room it was so nice. So big, with a loveseat, fireplace, dinette and balcony. A 5 […] minute walk to fishermans wharf and a bus stop right outside for a free trolley to cannery row. Running every 15 minutes. We had a great time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Spacious rooms but loud and smoking allowed"
The rooms are large and lovely. Perfect for traveling with your young kiddos, but ... Although we had to sign that the property was non smoking and we would be charged $150 for violating the policy, the hotel did not care that our neighbor was up smoking late into the night and first thing, again, in the morning. Because of this we could not use our […] deck door or windows as one of our children is allergic to cigarette smoke. The hotels solution to our complaint was crediting back the $20 parking fee. Won't be staying here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
No a/c had to have windows open, road noise on Pacific street intolerable. Bad bed too.Genuine Expedia guest review
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, nice spacious clean rooms, conveniently located . Only negative comment was that our room was very close to the hot tub, some guests used it very late at night and were very loud. Otherwise a highly recommend the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not worth the price."
Price is too high. Toilet flush was not working when we checked in, they fixed it after we complained. Next day morning found out that the water in shower was not draining. Luckily, there is a bath tub in room as an alternative. Didn't bother to get it fixed as we were checking out that day anyway. When I handed over the keys they did not even apologize […] for inconvenience. I wouldn't stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband and I have stayed at Hotel Pacific before and we really love the place. The rooms are so spacious and the fireplace was on every night. The location is across from the trolly and a five minute walk to the Fishermans Wharf. The landscaping is so beautiful at the hotel and it seemed to me that they were doing a lot of recent updating like painting […] and the such. I love the little breakfast that they serve and the staff who take care of it are fabulous! I love the place and look forward to staying again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Pacific Hotel Monterey"
Rooms can vary in style and quality. On this visit, there was a post all by itself directly in line with access to the restroom. In the middle of the night it was easy to run into, twice. The location is excellent if want to see tourist areas, eat or see downtown Monterey.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location near fishermans wharf"
PROS: Good location, ambiance, clean and good service. Walking distance to many attractions. CONS: The weatherstripping around the front/balcony doors was worn allowing wind to pass through with a faint whistle. Our room was located on 3rd floor street side and traffic was very easy to hear. Parking was additional fee of $20/dayGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"charming, and good location"
Bottom line: this hotel is very pretty, with a very convenient location, and a free, yummy breakfast. My husband, toddler son, and I stayed in a junior suite, which was very attractive, with fireplace and lovely rustic furnishings, and had a very comfortable layout. They provided us with a crib and our son slept in the living room area, separated from […] us, yet still very easy to hear him at night. It's a super easy walk to both fisherman's wharf and downtown, which made dinner a breeze. The downsides: our room was not cleaned as well as it should have been prior to our arrival. There were obviously things from the previous guest (crumpled paper bag on the floor, notepad scribbles, etc) which were not thrown away. Our phone was not connected and didn't work. The hotel has very thin walls, I think, because we could hear people walking (read: pounding their elephant feet) outside and above us, and moving room or patio furniture. The bedding/mattress were very pretty and comfortable except for the pillows, which were uncomfortable: very flimsy, without a firmer option. On the other hand, the free breakfast was generous and yummy, the overall hotel decor is very nice and distinctive, with outdoor patios and fountains, and the staff are friendly. Note that hotel parking is $20/day and not included in the hotels.com booking, though we had a very easy time finding street parking outside. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. "Close to everything"
I was disappointed with quality of free breakfast, parking fee.Genuine Expedia guest review
We love the location of this hotel. Our lovely room overlooked Pacific Ave and the street got a little noisy. Not too bad, but if you can, get a room off the street. This is a great placeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"So so stay.."
Great location within walking distance to downtown and the pier. The only things that did not work for me are.. The lights out side the room did not work. So it was very dark and could not see the card slot on the door. It was raining and was constantly flooded by the elevator and all the way to our room and in front of our room. The pillows were very […] uncomfortable and not enough of them. The continental breakfast was very disappointing. The location was great but would not stay there again price was not worth what we had! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was great, clean, quaint and fun. Nice rooms. Lack of gym was the only downside.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
No complaints except the parking fee. Took too long to get a receipt for twenty bucks. Souls just include in room rate.Genuine Expedia guest review
Could walk to wharf, pier, cannery row and aquarium. The floors and walls were thin so you heard every step the people above you took and those kids jumping down the stairs scared the heck out of me. Also the trash truck right outside my room at 6:30 wasn't very nice either. Bed was super comfy, bathroom was very nice, room was large. The old fashion […] floor heater things took some time to warm up the room but once set was fine and silent. The patio was a great place to read with my coffee in the AM. The complimentary breakfast wasn't much to talk about, basics cereal, fruit, bagels, little pre-packaged muffins, coffee and juice. Price was good. For the price I would stay there again. We stayed two nights. Clean rooms and facility. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast and afternoon tea were a little sparse. The parking fee was a surprise. It was an easy walk to Fisherman's Wharf. We would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Walking distance to fishermans wharf"
This hotel does not too many amenities that I'm used to. No pool, not really a room service, no gym. But what it lacks in amenities it makes up in convenience to the wharf, the junior suit was so big! The hallway does echo when people walk by but it's to be expected. Just hope people around are considerate while walking by the rooms. We had a mini patio […] that was nice. We were on the ground floor and can hear people walking on the other side of the wall but it was fine. You get a shower and separate bath tub. The continental breakfast was not that great. Have to pay to park in the hotel garage. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel in the center of Monterey"
Within walking distance from Fisherman's Wharf, a bit further to Cannery Row, but doable. Hotel was very nice, very comfortable. Good continental breakfast in the AM, but go early, because when they run out, that is it. 4-6 tea time. Make room in the budget for the extra $$ if you want to park in the garage of the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The good thing about this hotel is it's location."
Location is very good and the rooms are big for Monterey. The hotel is old and breakfast choices are poor. We usually stay at Embassy Suites and for more money, Hotel Pacific offers much less. We stayed in room 223 for four days and the entire time I could smell a cat pee smell outside of our room which I mentioned to the receptionist.Genuine Expedia guest review
"This hotel is a little gem"
We loved practically everything about it -- particularly at the price we were able to get through Hotels.com. The junior suite was very spacious with comfortable furniture and tasteful decor. It was clean, and everything worked. The location is great for touristy stuff around Monterey.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Large rooms with fireplace...very comfortable. Good for families...we had a room off a nice outdoor patio. Close to the Monterey Coastal Trail and Downtown.Genuine Expedia guest review
"This hotel is sad and tired"
The Hotel Pacific was a lovely hotel in its day - unfortunately age has caught up with it and it has become run down - the once lovely seashore inspired decor is now a mismatch of furnishings. The outside corridors are in desperate need of a good cleaning and new paint. The windows were dirty, there was trash and maintenance debris all over the parking […] garage. The area rug in our room was so dirty I didn't want my dog to lay on it. The staff at the front desk was tired too - when I asked if we could have an earlier check the clerk responded "You and everyone else, no"..... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Enjoyed the location"
The rooms were comfortable, spacious, and loved the outdoor little patio. Refrigerator, fireplace (gas), big bathrooms, comfortable bed. The annoying part was the noise you could hear of the people above you. Obviously wooden floors and no rugs, so just walking was noisy. Also, high traffic times if you're right on the main road was rather noisy, but […] only during AM, PM rush hour. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Staff is awesome, upkeep could be better"
The staff is awesome, very welcoming friendly and informative of the area. It was raining when we were there, so the inner courtyards, going to the rooms there were leaky pipes in garage and going up some area of the stairs were pretty dingy and smelled. Eventually we figured out a nicer path and avoided the stairs towards the garage. The room, was […] ok it is definitely older etc. but the thing I had the real problem was you could hear every footstep from the people in the room above throughout the night and you could hear the traffic and sirens throughout the night. Once it finally quited down, at 4:30 am it starts again. No sleep the first night, the second night I was exhausted and slept through everything up until the traffic started up again early in the morning. Also, the door on the balcony was nice, first time I opened and closed it no problem.... second time I had a heck of a time getting it to lock, needless to say I didn't open it again. (I think maybe from the rain with the moisture it swelled?) Truthfully for what you pay for the room and what you get for it, I think the parking should be free. It is a extra $20 a day. Breakfast was good and the condition of the breakfast room area was nice as well as the office area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great staff, but the cost is not worth the room"
The rooms need a complete remodel. The old tile work and furniture looked like the room hadn't been updated since 1960. The shower was dirty, the bathroom lights flickered, and the bathtub faucet was worn enough that I couldn't get the shower head to work. The staff was very nice and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Comfy place to hang out."
I adore this odd but comfy hotel. My suite was wonderful, well-appointed, spacious, and a good value for the area. The fireplace and rustic hearth made the room feel homey. Bathrobes, bedding, and towels were all good quality. My only wish was to see the place get a good scrubbing, outside and inside. Also, there were lots of little repairs that needed […] tending to like scrapes and dents on walls and landscape begging for attention and walkways covered in grit and leaves. Even with the minor imperfections, I'll stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Overall, a pleasant experience."
Big rooms, great location (5 minute walk to Fisherman's Wharf). Comfortable but slightly older furnishings. Nice big TV and the best wi-fi speeds I have ever seen in a hotel. Decent covered parking for a reasonable daily fee. Simple decor and furnishings. Overall, we were happy with the experience. We did not expect a 5-star hotel so expectations were […] met. Probably would be willing to stay there again. Some minor negatives but not a big deal: Not too easy to navigate through the complex, which is several buildings. Lots of stairwells. Skip the continental breakfast. Ice maker closest to our room did not work and we had to traipse all over the complex to find one that did. Signage providing directions was poor. We were there for our anniversary and had booked a deluxe room. Front desk had us down for a regular room so check-in was a bit slow. We told front desk about the anniversary and that we wanted a nice upper room and got ground floor (no effort to accommodate us at all). Room had an enclosed patio with no view (solid block walls) but door could not open because it hit the rug under the dining table. Light over table did not work. A bit noisy, particularly when a maid's cart or roller suitcases were rolled over the tile walkways outside the door. Negatives aside, it was a very nice stay. "Great room for a night in Monterey"
My daughter and I were in town just overnight for a little change of scenery. We stayed at Hotel Pacific for one night. We got a Luxury Jr Suite which had a king size bed. The room was very clean and the bed was quite comfy, and big enough for both of us to share it without kicking each other. The location was nice as it is close enough to everything […] without being right in the middle of the noise. I paid a little extra so we could have a room that didnt face the busy street and it was well worth it. All in all a great stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"You'll love this place!"
You will love this place. We had a suite and it was divine! The fireplace and patio were so nice. Shower and separate tub area was a nice unexpected bonus. Felt like a boutique hotel. "Pleasant, Quirky, Comfortable Hotel"
This is an old-fashioned hotel, with lots of character and charm. It reflects a period of time when not everything was glass and chrome and sameness. Comfortable, clean, hospitable and spacious. We would happily stay here again. This is a hotel for leisurely enjoyment.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful hotel, extremely disappointing staff"
I have heard so many good things about Hotel Pacific. I was attending a wedding and Im not from the Monterey area. I asked if I could possibly have an earlier check-in, due to the fact that the wedding started at 2:30pm and check-in time isn't until 4:00pm. I spoke with an attendant, the day prior, who confirmed an earlier check in time for me. I was […] so pleased with the service, over the phone. It wasn't until I showed up to check-in that it went down hill. The front desk clerk was not very accommodating due to the telephone mix-up. I needed to change for the wedding and they didn't offer any type of bathroom/spare room for me to use. I had to use a public restroom in downtown Monterey. It was a horrible experience and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. When the wedding ended and we returned to the hotel, they had my key waiting. I thought the room was absolutely beautiful and well worth the price, I just wish the service had been better. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was okay, however the toilet and drains backed up and the room was cumbersome for business. There was 7 am early morning construction in the hotel next to us which made it hard to work and sleep. The coffee pot and coffee was useless and they offered no bottled water and could not drink the tap water.Genuine Expedia guest review
My husband and I thought it was very noisy. We would not stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Luxury at a good price"
I booked a luxury king suite as a last minute getaway and it was absolutely fantastic. The room was more like a studio apartment rather than usual hotel setup. Bed was a little oddly placed - next to door along hallway but we were at the end so it wasn't that big of a deal. As other reviews said, walls are thin so just be aware if you and your honey […] tend to be on the loud side at night. ;) We will definitely return! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The ambiance is Spanish. The rooms are built around beautiful courtyards complete with tables and chairs. The suites have a bedroom; sitting area with fireplace, sofa and chairs; a kitchenette with a table and chairs; and a large, well-thought out bathroom. There is a continental breakfast. "Update of rooms desperatly needed!"
I have stayed at Hotel Pacific a few times over the last 5 years as the location is great. Unfortunately the rooms are very outdated and not very clean. The floors were worn beyond belief and cracks in the walls. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. The stay was definitely not worth the price. I'd rather spend a few more dollars and stay at The Portola […] across the street next time. Lesson learned. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
