"Consider this a place to crash only . . ."
Hotel service was terrible -- and the rooms are small but adequate and in need of a good cleaning . We stayed for 2 separate nights before and after getting back from our Alaska excursions. No one was there to check us in upon arrival the first night, and no one at all was there to replenish the breakfast items the next morning. A nice guy doing maintenance […] had access to the supply cabinet and found me a few CoffeeMate packets for my coffee, otherwise, there wasn't much in the mislabeled "breakfast area." On the next stay, we were greeted by hotel staffer Mona who was just short of belligerent and definitely rude. We saw what the "breakfast area" was meant to look like the next morning and we went out for breakfast. It was basically coffee and a collection of packages to which you could add water. There wasn't even a carafe of milk to add to the packet of coffee. For around two hundred dollars a night (with taxes), we expected a lot more, esp. from a place that advertises that it includes breakfast. Also, note that they charge to park your car, but we took advantage of free parking meters for overnight until 9 am. The proximity to the Anchorage Museum made it a convenient location. "It Was Okay"
Our stay was just okay. The hotel is clean and nice, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. However, there was no daily maid service. The reason this hotel, though, gets an overall rating of 2 from me is because the parking was atrocious. Very limited street parking, but there were two parking lots for the hotel that you had to pay a daily charge […] for. I've never had to pay to stay in a hotel parking lot. The lot should be free for the guests. Will not stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

no maid service unless you stay longer than a week. Not enough parking for all guests. Couldn't stay out late unless you wanted to park on the street. Charged $10 for parking. "Cheap place to stay downtown, but that's it."
When we checked in, there was still a dirty plate in the microwave. We also found several toys from the previous tenants, and clothes under the bed. The AC didn't work and the heater blew constant hot air. Even when unplugged it still radiated heat. Had to sleep with the window open just to keep from burning up. Stayed there for 4 weeks and was told […] on check in that they would service the room once a week. They serviced our room once, when we requested it at the front desk. Than never again. Room was clean. Bed was pretty uncomfortable. Woke up with a lower back ache every morning. Temperature was difficult to maintain. Too hot! "No room service"
No room service, had to drop off our own towels and throw away own trash. Had hotel staff come to the room to clean up the washtub. The breakfast was very skimpy, oatmeal packets, orange, muffins and coffee.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel and staff were very friendly"
Overall experience it was very family friendly and we loved it. We'd definitely make a stay there again next time we are able to visit anchorage :) very convenient location and close to everything!Genuine Expedia guest review
I think what bothered me most was the lack of service. We requested cleaning every day we were there and not once did they come. The walls must be paper thin because you can hear everything. Earplugs weren't enough to block out the children screaming in the halls at 10p at night or the stomping upstairs or the tv next door at 5am. A hidden detail of […] the reservation: the listing said free parking but when we got there we had to shell out $10 A DAY!! just to park in the parking lot, the other option was to park on the street and pay the meters which would have ended up being more costly. The free breakfast was abismal. Your choices are a bruised apple, an orange or a plain oatmeal packet, and coffee. The coffee, be warned, was burnt and had grounds all in it.. Crunchy coffee. Good: cleanliness is good overall and its quiet. Can request an extended checkout. Bad: requested staff to clean the bathtub when checking in, maid didn't clean the room and was told to throw away my own trash, staff told me to bring my own dirty towels to the front desk. The vending machines didn't work so the front desk gave us free snacks. Coffee stains on the comforters, grease stains on the table, a baby bottle under the bed, empty pop cans in the cabinets. It would have been nice to know that their parking lot is very small and requires you to pay a $10 per night fee for a permit. We had to park the first night on the […] street and be out to move our vehicle or pay the parking meter by 9am the next morning because it was a weekday. "Awesome place to stay in Downtown Anchorage!"
My husband and I stayed at Extended Stay for a night, along with our German Shepherd hound. First off, it was excellent to be able to stay with our dog and we did not feel that the quality of the place was compromised by the convenience of being pet-friendly. Very clean with cool decor. Not to mention, GREAT rates! We had a King-sized bed with a mini-kitchen […] and though it was somewhat small, it was perfect for our needs. We even had a nice view of the mountains and were just two blocks away from the Iditarod race "route." The staff was friendly and helpful in helping us settle in. The ladies cleaning the rooms were exceptionally sweet; they even made pals with our dog! ;) The hotel serves a light breakfast, which we slept too long to enjoy, but we did enjoy their coffee; it's reeeally good! Typically the hotel asks you to purchase a parking permit to park in their lot, but they were full that weekend. Not to worry; plenty of off-street parking. So nice that they offer work-out facilities and pool/jacuzzi. We did not have the chance to use during this stay, but will look forward to that next time. They are within walking distance of all the great restaurants, bars, as well as the Art Museum (which I highly recommend). I would definitely recommend Extended Stay-Anchorage-Downtown and we will look forward to staying there again for our next adventure in Downtown Anchorage. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The gentleman who checked us in wasn't helpful. He was using his phone in the back room and wouldn't acknowledge or even ignored the fact that I was standing at there. I stayed at the downtown branch on 8th street, big mistake. I rented a car at the airport, pulled into the round-about lobby area to check in and find out I can't park there to check in but need to park elsewhere and then check in. Upon checking in I was informed that if I wanted to park in the hotel parking lot that an additional $10 per night would […] be charged or I could park in the street metered parking. Since it was almost the weekend and the meters aren't required, I declined the parking fee. I checked in, I then had to go back to the front desk 3 times before I was given an electronic key that actually worked. The next day when I returned to my room I noticed the room had not been serviced whatsoever. I went to the front desk to let them know and was told they only service the rooms once every 7 days, if I wanted it more I would be charged $5.00 per day for that, wth!? The staff was courteous enough but the management was obviously not guest friendly. When I checked out they told me they couldn't give me the receipt and it would be emailed to me, normally ok but not with the hidden charges that seemed to pop up. I insisted and was finally given the receipt. The continental breakfast consisted of banana nut muffins, dry oatmeal and coffee. If there are going to be other charges that other hotels never charge then the consumer should be at least be informed ahead of time. I travel quite a bit, 1-2 weeks out of the month, I would never stay at Extended Stay again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Paid $75 for one night in a non-smoking king bed room. Small room, all the amenities needed for your extended stay experience. The room was clean, but had an overwhelming febreeze smell. "Not worth it."
Not worth the stay. Things are becoming run down, little to no parking, and noisy. If you need/want to stay in downtown Anchorage spend a little more and get a better hotel. Otherwise, I suggest Extended Stay in Mid-town. Free parking, better rooms, better amenities, better staff, and much more quiet.Genuine Expedia guest review
"good place to stay"
hotel is on the fringe of downtown but easy 5-10 minute walk to just about everything; continental breakfast included with the room price is okay, not great; of the four front desk personnel I dealt with, two were very friendly, polite, and well informed of where things were in the town, one seemed to know quite a bit but acted like dealing with people […] was a bother, one was willing to assist but really didn't seem to know a whole lot (a question like 'where's a good restaurant?' got responses from "this place is here on the map and serves this and this" to "go look in the book on the table" to "(blank stare)", so it's kind of a crap-shoot on help from the desk clerks; laundry room was a great convenience and much appreciated; shuttle to the airport was very quick, driver was very pleasant to talk with (he is a Seahawks fan, a definite plus!), BUT it only runs to 8 PM....my flight into Anchorage was delayed so had to get a taxi, much to my disappointment; the room was clean and very comfortable, the bed and pillows were excellent (perfect blend of soft comfort and firm support), the heater/AC worked pretty well, and hot water in the shower really was HOT; I have stayed in 3, 4, and 5 star hotels from north america to europe to asia, and few have been more comfortable although many were more expensive; unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?) there was not enough time to see and do everything I wanted, so I will visit Anchorage again and will stay at this hotel again Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
