Hotel didn't clean room, said ONLY staying for 4 days don't need maid service. They only clean rooms 1 a week, have to throw your own trash, parking is small 10 bux a day for parking too!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room smelled like a combination of dried urine and chinese food, they don't have enough parking. The parking they do have they charge you $10.00 per car.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Near downtown shopping and restraunts"
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall friendlyness was greatGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Clean room but very very small space between beds and table. Coffee cups were broken/chipped. Nice airport shuttle. So-so breakfast and pool. Nice staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, close to shopping"
The best feature about the hotel is that it is within walking distance to the museum and 5th ave mall. We enjoyed the pool also.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice looking hotel, but very dirty"
Coffee stains on the comforters, grease stains on the table, a baby bottle under the bed, empty pop cans in the cabinets. It was so bad we checked out a night early and didn't care for a refund, we just wanted out. It is a shame because the place has a little potential to be a nice stay, just very dirty. Cleanliness was a joke. When I told manager there was hair and body stuff in the bed and dirty pillow, she made me feel it was my fault, I was bothering attitude. When she asked me WHAT I wanted her to do, I said im not sleeping in someone else's filth. Couldn't believe she would think I would sleep in it, even after she checked herself. I got a dif […] room, checked it, was clean sheets. Door wouldn't lock when I left the room to get coffee, had to keep pulling on door to make sure it was locked. "Exact opposite of midtown location"
Called to confirm reservations just to get greeted by rude front desk service. NO FREE PARKING (ridiculous) When we check in, front desk did not greet anyone with a smile. Then they assign a room that was not cleaned, still had previous guests luggage in room. You are tired from a long trip & you get this run around, no you wont be amused. they had very little "free parking" . they did offer parking far away from hotel for $10 a day. purchased room thru Hotels.com and the hotel also charged me for room . double charged . The Free breakfast was instant oatmeal, fruit ,yogurt and coffee. not too impressed with this place.will stick with the dimond center motel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
came into the hotel checked in, there was funky odor in the lobby, got my keys and for some reason went to check up on the room, it was not cleaned, trash not taken out, beds not fixed. Got another room. You have to pay 10 dollars a day for parking. Went to the pool next morning around 8:45 am , pool was closed and looking through the window it still […] was not cleaned from last night, you could see towels lying everywhere. When it opened we went in there the pool had lots of hair floating in it and surrounding area had trash. Next day after we were gone for a day came back to the room the room was not made up or cleaned, we complained, and the front desk said they don't do housekeeping.Definetely will never stay there again!!! out room had dirty linins, elevator was very slow, there contenental breakfast was not a breakfast, it was apples and gronola bars, not what i had in mind for breakfast, pool was dirty, just needs more upkeep then it will be a great place to stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It would have been nice to know that their parking lot is very small and requires you to pay a $10 per night fee for a permit. If there are no permits available which there were not for the first night stay you have to pay the parking meter fees on the street if you are at the hotel during the 9-5 M-F timeframe. We had to park the first night on the […] street and be out to move our vehicle or pay the parking meter by 9am the next morning because it was a weekday. When we arrived our room was clean except for the overflowing trash under the sink with beer bottles. When we notified the front desk someone came up right away to take care of it. When I showed up the heater in the room was not working and it was the next day they fixed it so it would only run on the cool setting so still no heat. They allow dogs so there was sevarl nights when the dogs would wake me up. Every night there was atleast one or several times when people would come in late and either start fighting in the hallways […] or have loud arguments in there room. Was very glad to check out. "Awesome place to stay in Downtown Anchorage!"
My husband and I stayed at Extended Stay for a night, along with our German Shepherd hound. First off, it was excellent to be able to stay with our dog and we did not feel that the quality of the place was compromised by the convenience of being pet-friendly. Very clean with cool decor. Not to mention, GREAT rates! We had a King-sized bed with a mini-kitchen […] and though it was somewhat small, it was perfect for our needs. We even had a nice view of the mountains and were just two blocks away from the Iditarod race "route." The staff was friendly and helpful in helping us settle in. The ladies cleaning the rooms were exceptionally sweet; they even made pals with our dog! ;) The hotel serves a light breakfast, which we slept too long to enjoy, but we did enjoy their coffee; it's reeeally good! Typically the hotel asks you to purchase a parking permit to park in their lot, but they were full that weekend. Not to worry; plenty of off-street parking. So nice that they offer work-out facilities and pool/jacuzzi. We did not have the chance to use during this stay, but will look forward to that next time. They are within walking distance of all the great restaurants, bars, as well as the Art Museum (which I highly recommend). I would definitely recommend Extended Stay-Anchorage-Downtown and we will look forward to staying there again for our next adventure in Downtown Anchorage. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great for an overnight stay"
Cheap room, clean, a little compact but I feel like I got what I paid for. Wanted to go swimming but didn't have time!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The gentleman who checked us in wasn't helpful. He was using his phone in the back room and wouldn't acknowledge or even ignored the fact that I was standing at there. I also wasn't able to contact the front dest with my room phone because "he left the phone on". other than the lack of customer service, I enjoyed my night.Genuine Expedia guest review
I stayed at the downtown branch on 8th street, big mistake. I rented a car at the airport, pulled into the round-about lobby area to check in and find out I can't park there to check in but need to park elsewhere and then check in. Upon checking in I was informed that if I wanted to park in the hotel parking lot that an additional $10 per night would […] be charged or I could park in the street metered parking. Since it was almost the weekend and the meters aren't required, I declined the parking fee. I checked in, I then had to go back to the front desk 3 times before I was given an electronic key that actually worked. The next day when I returned to my room I noticed the room had not been serviced whatsoever. I went to the front desk to let them know and was told they only service the rooms once every 7 days, if I wanted it more I would be charged $5.00 per day for that, wth!? The staff was courteous enough but the management was obviously not guest friendly. When I checked out they told me they couldn't give me the receipt and it would be emailed to me, normally ok but not with the hidden charges that seemed to pop up. I insisted and was finally given the receipt. The continental breakfast consisted of banana nut muffins, dry oatmeal and coffee. If there are going to be other charges that other hotels never charge then the consumer should be at least be informed ahead of time. I travel quite a bit, 1-2 weeks out of the month, I would never stay at Extended Stay again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel for price"
Paid $75 for one night in a non-smoking king bed room. Small room, all the amenities needed for your extended stay experience. The room was clean, but had an overwhelming febreeze smell. Windows opened, so I was able to air it out. Staff was great, no noise complaints, good location in downtown Anchorage. Would stay again for price.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Not worth it."
Not worth the stay. Things are becoming run down, little to no parking, and noisy. If you need/want to stay in downtown Anchorage spend a little more and get a better hotel. Otherwise, I suggest Extended Stay in Mid-town. Free parking, better rooms, better amenities, better staff, and much more quiet.Genuine Expedia guest review
"good place to stay"
hotel is on the fringe of downtown but easy 5-10 minute walk to just about everything; continental breakfast included with the room price is okay, not great; of the four front desk personnel I dealt with, two were very friendly, polite, and well informed of where things were in the town, one seemed to know quite a bit but acted like dealing with people […] was a bother, one was willing to assist but really didn't seem to know a whole lot (a question like 'where's a good restaurant?' got responses from "this place is here on the map and serves this and this" to "go look in the book on the table" to "(blank stare)", so it's kind of a crap-shoot on help from the desk clerks; laundry room was a great convenience and much appreciated; shuttle to the airport was very quick, driver was very pleasant to talk with (he is a Seahawks fan, a definite plus!), BUT it only runs to 8 PM....my flight into Anchorage was delayed so had to get a taxi, much to my disappointment; the room was clean and very comfortable, the bed and pillows were excellent (perfect blend of soft comfort and firm support), the heater/AC worked pretty well, and hot water in the shower really was HOT; I have stayed in 3, 4, and 5 star hotels from north america to europe to asia, and few have been more comfortable although many were more expensive; unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?) there was not enough time to see and do everything I wanted, so I will visit Anchorage again and will stay at this hotel again Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This was much better than I expected. I had read some bad reviews but we had no problems what so ever.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was horrible! The room wasn't clean! Found other peoples hair in bed & in tub. Found beer caps next to bed on floor! The mattress coverings were ripped & smelled. The only ice you could get was on the 4th floor empty on all other floors! The vending machine (the only 1) was broke, but front desk kept sending us there. There were cops & domestic violence […] @ least twice in our hallway keeping us awake & trapped to feel like I could send my GF to get ice on her own. And after enduring all the sleepless nights & filth with a awful bed, the.doors automatically slammed shut every single time someone left cuz there too cheap to invest in door hinges that would allow them to close lightly! "Ask front desk for clean towels and pick them up"
I did not know we had to get our own clean towels at the front desk. Take out your trash, fix your beds. Took forever to check in, pay for parking. This hotel's parking lot was small, had another parking lot but it was a walk away. Had to get your own self hygiene products from front desk too.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very pleasant experience!"
Room was very nice and well-equipped! The bed was one of the most comfortable I've encountered in a hotel or motel (AND it turned out to be a king instead of a queen!). The staff was polite and very friendly. We were sorry we did not have time to make use of the pool or spa, which looked very nice also. Most of all, we were very pleased to be able to […] bring our small dog with us, and she was very much at home. Down-sides: Free breakfast was pretty skimpy; we were a little put-out by having to pay extra for parking, but it was reasonable and we always got a good parking spot; one small waste-basket for a room is pretty minimal - it was full to overflowing after two days! All-in-all a pleasant experience; we would return! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was OK. My only problem was one of the beds were not right, it was slanted and wobbled. Mattresses were comfortable but bed frame was not so great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Pool was out of order. These things happen, but that was the main reason I chose this hotel, so I was disappointed. I got a room by the exit door and some kind of utility area. It was really loud. With a better room and a working pool my stay could have been much better.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Extended Stay America - Anchorage - Downtown Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I apologize that the pool was out of order during your stay. I understand that was your primary reason for booking and I'm so sorry we didn't have that amenity available during your time with us as we were performing some necessary maintenance. Please know the pool is back up and fully running now! We look forward to our next opportunity to serve you!
"Poor front desk service"
I checked it not needing a parking permit until later on around an hour later I had asked for one and he has said that he had none left to park on the road when the parking lot had lots of slots open and he was on his iPod/ iPhone. I felt like he was ignoring me.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was under construction and maintenance. Most of the hotel's parking was taken up by the construction equipment, so I had to park on the street, next to a parking meter. It was free from 6pm-9am but I had to wake up before 9am to feed the parking meter to avoid a ticket.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"GOOD CLEAN NO SMOKING SMELL AT ALL!"
We were pleased that the room had absolutely no smell of lingering smoke at all! Also, we were surprised there was a kitchenette (apartment-sized fridge, 2-burner stove top, sink, microwave, coffee maker w/coffee and tea, toaster and silverware, pots and dishes). We were on the 2nd floor and there was a washer and dryer on our floor. Front desk staff […] pretty friendly. Free breakfast included coffee, tea, hot chocolate, apples, oranges, packaged muffins, instant oatmeal and granola bars. Great for grab and go! Parking cost - $10, which is ok, but there are two small lots ... one next to the hotel and the 2nd is located after a house, located next to the 1st parking lot. Although it is a short walk, you cannot see your car from the 1st parking lot. Make sure you bring your shampoo, conditioner and lotion as there is none in the room. There is free WIFI. All in all, we got a great deal on a very decent hotel and we'll keep it in mind whenever we need to stay over in Anchorage. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Stayed in ESA- Downtown Anchorage for 5 Nights. Pros-Proximity to downtown dining, shopping and attractions was good. Got around Anchorage by foot the entire stay. Cons -Hotel Shuttle from airport was late, and overbooked. Requires 24hr notice, though it didn't make a difference we got turned down twice because the van was full. Room was clean, though […] had a musky smell. Advertised coffee/tea 24 hrs in lobby and it was out for maybe 3. Staff was unprofessional (wrinkled clothes, not personable). In room kitchenette accessories were disorganized (One plastic cup, but three mugs. A frying pan that would probably start smoking and set up the alarm.) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We stayed at this hotel twice in one week. The first stay was one night and didn't go well. The shuttle picked us up 1/2 hr late. We requested a non-smoking room and were stuck in a smoking room. If you don't smoke staying in a smoking room is awful. Our second stay was for two nights, the shuttle was on time and we were given a non-smoking room.
