HORRIBLE!!! The room was clean but the sink and toilet didn't work. I asked for a quiet area and they put me across from the pool. The beds were like sleeping on the floor- mattresses were thin and hard! I left my pillow there and when I went back for it they couldn't find it. The hotel appeared very nice, as did the staff at arrival. The room looked good until we finally started moving around in it...dust everywhere...there was a huge jet tub that I could not wait to use only hardly any water pressure so the tub would not fill up enough to turn the jets on without the water being ice cold first...we had problems with the […] safe provided in the room. The air (no matter how many times turned up or down) remained out of my control even though we had the ability to control it!! and the noise was a constant of little golf carts all throughout the night...every noise came through the walls!! "Misrepresented- Timeshare being rented as hotel"
Resort fee gets you nothing except wireless which we did not use. Water park is advertised but is extra cost of $18 per person. Check out is at 10 am. Ridiculous. Even though we had a sick child, only got one extra hour. Where not advised of check out being at 10 am. Rooms have absolutely no sound isolation. The hotel and grounds are pleasant enough but it gives off a fairly bizarre, cult-like vibe. They bend over backwards to be pleasant _ but almost too much. After a fairly lengthy check-in process, you are then handed off to another staffer who gives your room key to yet another staffer who meets you at your car to bring you to your room/cabin. During […] both handoffs, these staffers wear very fake, weird, vacant looks on their face and wide grins, and they both spend an inordinate amount of time encouraging you to attend a "tour" to consider buying a timeshare. "Not what I was expecting."
This place is overwhelmingly large. When I entered the lobby upon arrival it was crowded and chaotic with crowd control stanchions at the front desk. The units go all the way up the mountainside with ongoing construction of additional units. My room was located on top (the drive up and down the mountain was lengthy) yet there was no mountain view at […] all from the room. Maybe for a family, the indoor water park would be a plus but a theme-park type experience detracted from the mountain retreat I was looking for. The hotel was great, conveniently located to gatlinburg and pigeon forge. The hotel shuttle and trolley is great to get you back and forth. The room was clean and quiet. We stayed on the top level. The villas are lovely small apartments, with large balconies. The pools, restaurants, water park, playground and other amenities were well-maintained and the food was great. The $5.99 breakfast buffet was declared by all four children to be the best they'd ever experienced. Westgate was consistently busy but never felt crowded. I was slightly disappointed in the stay at Westgate. 1- the walls of the room are paper thin. I could hear the microwave buttons from the room next door, we could hear the chairs scraping across the floor above us, and lots of noise outside our room. "Quiet, Nice, but Terrible Bed!!"
The staff was pleasant enough; Facility was clean. room was about what I envisioned; 3 things I did not like: 1. There is a $50 "deposit" for staying, that was not mentioned when booking room; resort fees are separate as well, and cannot be paid until at resort! 2. Food was sub-par. The server was very nice in making accommodations, which was a plus. […] 3. The bed was Terrible! It was so hard. I tossed and turned for hours before I could get to sleep! Other than that, I enjoyed myself. It was quiet enough. We were lucky to not have anyone staying above us, so that helped, as the walls are thin. Livid with our check in does not even begin to describe how we felt checking in. The staff is rude. Management is not helpful. We booked based off the photos and advertising. We had promised our 5 yr old all day the indoor water park which was closed at 7 pm when we arrived and was not included. They offered us a heated outdoor pool. This was the first […] part of April. We also have a 5 month old so that was not going to work. We did not even make it past the lobby I Was So Up set With The Service We Called To dispute charges With Credit Card We Will NEVER return to Westgate Resorts again. My parents own a timeshare that we stayed at last year and the room was not kept up broken tiles everywhere you would think with the yearly maintained fees that things would be kept up. Heck even the toilet at that particular Westgate establishment was in awful shape. I was ready to drive the 10 hours back home after a long day a fever and two young children over staying at this very very very rude resort. I will always read the reviews before I book online again clearly after getting home and reading other people's reviews we are not the only ones that had these issues. If you want to be close to the Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge without being in the midst of the amusement businesses and heavy commercial development, this is the place to be. I admit that I chose thise hotel because it was listed as a Expedia VIP access hotel and I thought I might get some perks/upgrades. That definitely wasn't the case bc I did not receive anything beyond what they give everyone else (no room upgrade, late check out, etc.) and they acted as if they didn't even know what the Elite Plus program was when I […] mentioned it...I guess because they were too busy. The resort however is very nice. I was very pleased with the condo, the cleanliness of the grounds, etc. The waterpark wasn't much to talk about. It claims to be the largest waterpark in the South but I find that hard to believe. The waterpark is NOT free, you have to pay per person/day so if you are going because of the waterpark, I'd definitely recommend Wilderness at the Smokies because the waterpark is much nicer, there is a lot more to do and the waterpark passes are included in the room rate. The rooms at the Westgate though are MUCH nicer. The location of the resort is great because you are tucked away in the woods but extremely close to the Gatlinburg strip. Take your money elsewhere...To have such wonderful amenities and perfect rooms, this place has dropped the ball on customer service. This was the worst check-in experience I've ever had, we're talking beneath a HoJo from the 90s. To be a timeshare facility, you'd think customer service would be at a premium. If you are trying to sell a fabulous place, […] don't leave your guests sitting with the other hundred or so guests still waiting for a concierge. If you choose to stay here, expect up to 2 hours before being acknowledged, never mind actually getting a key. After an hour waiting, I was told by more than one associate that, "We haven't even received your keys yet so you're just going to have to wait." The onsite water park is extra, not-included. Fine, but at least let me know up front. Don't resort to shady extra fees that aren't disclosed until check-in. I'm no world traveler but I know when folks just don't have their stuff together. It was obvious the whole scenario was chaos and judging by the conversation from one of the owners, yes an actual timeshare owner-VIP was waiting too, this was the norm. We did not get room service after thr first night but we did all the other days. The did say we could call anytime and they would bring up anything that we needed. "Somewhat of a Mixed Bag"
There both positives and negatives about my one night stay. It was part of a trip to Dollywood for my 7 year old granddaughter. On the positive side, we had hoped to arrive mid afternoon so our granddaughter could go to the indoor water park. We were delayed and did not arrive until 5:30 pm. The nice people at the water park let us go on into the water […] park without charging us since it would close in an hour. That was very much appreciated. There was a problem with the A/C unit when we checked in, but it was taken care of promptly. The room itself was very nice and modern, and the views from the mountain top were outstanding. On the negative side, I was not expecting the extra $50 "resort fee" at check-in. That drove the rate much higher than expected. There was also another $11 "resort fee". The clerk couldn't really explain either charge. The check-in process was very slow while waiting on a bell hop to take us up the mountain to our room. I finally told the bell captain that we would find our own way. We dined at the Smokehouse Grill where we found our waiter had a lot of trouble communicating with us. Had to talk with seven people before we got our room! Then too much pressure to attend a 90 min resort property sales pitch. The room could have been cleaned better. Carpet was sticky near the table. Coffee pot was broken. Lots of hills and stairs if you're not in shape.Genuine Expedia guest review

Arriving at the "Resort" we didn't know what we were getting in to. This place is a compound with a mess of things going on and people all over the place. We were directed to parking, waited to check in and told our room wasn't ready. We were 25 minutes early so that was fair but after over an hour of waiting for a call I went back up. They said it […] was ready and I should go to the bell hop to check in. They told me to wait and someone would guide us to our room. After a while I finally asked for a map to find it ourselves (which was easy). Despite the subpar check in the room was very nice. We were tire from hiking and showering in the nice shower then relaxing and cooking in the kitchenette was just what we wanted. I just so happen to come across this amazing place when I was looking for my family a place to stay for a weekend in Gatlingburg or Pigeon Forge Tn. I was so impressed by the place and the people who work there. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. It rained on us the days we were there. No problem. This place has everything..Resturants, snack bar, […] general store, spa, game room, indoor water park, playground and different activies for the kids. Our room was very clean. Easy access to it from parking. Roaring firerplace for the cold nights. Amazing view from the balcony. I definitly have been telling my friends about it and recommend this place for vacation. When we checked in told my room was upgraded. Well No! I had a view of parking lot with construction. Would have been nice to view the mountains of TN from a deck. Another surprise the water park tickets were not included had to pay more $ for that.Genuine Expedia guest review

We had a one bedroom with a pull out. The unit was on the very top of the mountain, new and clean. Great resort if your intentions are to spend a lot of time on-site. Beautiful view of the mountains. This hotel is in the absolute best location, is beautiful, and has tons of amenities our family loved. Except, that they skimp on the actual services where you need to interact with staff.
