"Would only go back for waterpark."
The hotel was ok. Check-in was a complete circus. Our check-in time was at 4pm and they didn't have our room ready until 6pm. They upgraded our room (i guess because of the 2 hour delay - which was nice) but the staff was NOT very friendly or helpful. The room was nice but not very inviting. And its the first hotel i've been to where they don't provide […] complimentary soaps, coffee, etc. Instead they have the "marketplace" where you have to buy everything at a ridiculous price. "Disappointed for Christmas"
My mom and I decided to spend our Christmas away this year. I was disappointed by the fact that upon arrival at Westgate we were promised that all services at the resort would be available over the holiday. However, when we tried going to the dining areas they were not open. We couldn't get any of them to answer the phones for take out or delivery. […] The "pets are welcome" policy is very deceiving! I didn't see anywhere on the website or wasn't told at the time of making reservations that there was a NON-REFUNDABLE $175 pet fee on top of the $100 refundable deposit (which is only $75 without a pet). When we checked in the first question they asked was whether we had a pet or not. Then told us about the extra fee. At that point we were there with our dog and didn't have any other choice but to pay. Also, the rooms are much smaller than the pictures on the website show and so are the T.V.s. Room was to small for 3 people. No room to open the sofa bed. If you open it no room to walk or can't open the minibar or do anything. Bed and pillows uncomfortable. Staff didn't help with luggage. "Only availability for our trip"
While the hotel was rated decent upon check in I had begun to see that I was in for a 'treat'......the check in person was more concerned about the activities of her fellow co-worker than checking me in even after I had made it clear I was in a rush to make the parade. The front desk then 'hands me off' to the bellman who will not release my key until […] he gives me the 'spill' about the hotel, I expressed my disinterest. He then proceeds to forward me to another bellman who will 'show me to my room', well I have enough intellect to follow signs to reach my room, js. Finally upon reaching my room I found it outdated but very clean. The 'highlight' of the stay was that for 2 night I got to hear EVERYTHING that went on outside, or passed by, my room. I could hear the room next door sneeze, the room on the other side proceeded to go in/out until about 1am, the sneezer room proceeded to talk/laugh until about 2am, and one night someone decided to do laundry at 1:30am (its a shared amenity). Nice. The hotel was pretty close to pigeon forge and Gatlinburg. Everything cost extra like the water park. I thought that should be included for the price of the hotel. Beds were comfortable. Didn't think we should need to gather the towels and linens and put them outside the door or empty all of the trash cans for the price we paid. Decent place, but a bit money-grubbing. The water park is pricey, and an adult is required to be in the water with kids 10 and under at all times. My 8 yr old is a fish with way more energy than me, so that was a problem, especially since I didn't plan on swimming or paying for myself. The room was fine, and even surprised us to find a FP & oversized whirlpool tub. Spacious...so all that was more than we expected. Couple of things about the room, carpet in Bedroom where carpet meets the tile was unraveling, looked pretty worn. The only other unpleasant couple of incidences was the neighbors upstairs were extremely loud...their chairs […] scraped across the tile, they walked heavy, they dropped stuff...extremely loud & rude coming & leaving their space. Don';t know if there could be away to have had more "quieting/insulation" between floors. The 1 thing that could have been a disaster, but the gentleman at the front desk when we checked in, fixed it right away...they didn't have our reservation from Expedia. Had this been a very busy time of season (even though it sure seemed packed) that could have been a mess. So whoever or whatever is in charge of insuring reservations are secure, someone may need to check on that one. For the most part we had a nice stay & the employees were very nice. Upon arrival the guest services associates made the resort seem extremely appealing talking about the waterpark, and nightly get togethers. The room appeared very nice. Once settled in we found a dead roach stuck to the "clean" bathroom mat, dried contacts from the previous guest on the kitchen counter and the garbage disposal had a very bad smell coming […] from it. The bed was not comfortable either. After reading the broshures we were given I found there were extra charges if hotel guest want to use the waterpark or partake in any other activity on property. It was cute, but I wasnt aware the indoor Waterpark was $18/person extra. They told me the free outdoor pools were heated but it was 37 degrees out when we got there. Yeah, no thanks. We had a third floor walk up, and it was like being in grandma's loft. But it was clean, and the people were friendly. I don't recommend the restaurant though. I travel a lot, and have stayed at several other hotels & resorts, throughout the years. This was the worst experience ive ever had. They border false advertisement. Its not a convienient set up. No basic room ammeneties. Poor customer service. Mold & hair in bathroom. I asked to soeak to a manager and was denied access. "Very nice hotel and city for a family getaway"
Spent a family weekend there in mid October. We had booked a "One Bedroom Deluxe King Bed Villa" and that was very nice with an open kitchen and living room area, a separate bedroom and a nice bathroom. Living room had a gas fireplace, a large TV and a separate dining area. There was also a small balcony. The hotel itself has a fairly nice restaurant […] although it seemed very small compared to the number of rooms and villas in the hotel. We had to wait for a table overtime we went there. "Unbelievable customer service."
When I booked this hotel the night before our stay, I was expecting a nice hotel in Gatlinburg. What we found when we got there and checked in was the best customer service we have ever had at any hotel we have ever stayed in. From the minute my husband dropped ,me off at the door, to the first employee that greeted me when I stepped in to the hotel, […] I knew we were going to enjoy our stay. I am disabled and the desk clerk arranged for a different room in a close building without my having to ask for anything special. They have a employee accompany you to your room, unload your baggage and walk you to your room and show you everything that it offers, and to check and make sure that everything was stocked well. Such comfortable room amenities. Wonderful restaurants on site and 24 hour staff to make sure your stay is enjoyable and that they are just a call away if you desire anything. "Beautiful Hotel Resort with a Beautiful View"
My husband and I booked this Resort and Spa for a little vacation and honeymoon that we never had together. When I booked our room I had booked a Studio Villa. Being my first time ever visiting Gatlinburg and I was so excited on going on a new adventure with my husband. When we checked in we asked the very nice lady at the front desk if there were any […] upgrades we could do. She looked at us in amaze and said you already have a Deluxe One bedroom Cabin! My husband and I were so excited! We were escorted to our room and the gentleman that helped us with our luggage and showed us everything in our amazing and beautiful room was very nice and informational. We were in such amazement of how clean and beautiful our room was. We walked out on our balcony and we had an amazing view of the Smokey Mountains! It was Beautiful! waking up every morning to that was amazing. Our first night there we ate at the Grill and Pub they have on sight and that was a lot of fun! We even went back for a night cap after spending the day in downtown Gatlinburg and met some very nice people. We did not want to go home! Perfect for children!!! We loved it so much...we booked it again for the next weekend! There is a heated indoor waterpark for winter months, arcade and playground! "Nice location but will never stay here again"
The front desk staff were extremely unhelpful and rude. First they could not find our reservation and would not call hotels.com to remedy the situation - we needed to call ourselves and told us it wasn't their problem. Second we had 2 nights booked but they checked us out before our second night. As well, our fireplace did not work in the room even […] after the service guy spent 45 minutes "fixing" it. The wifi did not work in our room and had to go to the main lodge to access it. Our bathroom had black mold surrounding the bathtub and all through the shower hose. "FRONT DESK HELP RUDE!"
Upon arriving for a weekend couple getaway, we were greeted at the door. We all walked in and greeted a RUDE lady. From the start I knew she was going to turn my day bad; she pretty much made me feel completely dumb and ruined my day in an instance. We called ahead to get close rooms with our friends, turns out that wasn't going to happen. She upgraded […] them and "said" woman rubbed it in my husband and my face that they were getting the better room. That wasn't the issue, the issue was how she acted about it. Very CLASSLESS and mean. Upon arriving to our room it was VERY small--not like the pictures. Clean, but small. If you were to blink you'd miss it. The resort itself was AMAZING. So much to do. Other workers were very pleasant and made the stay easy and nice. I would definitely remove the lady from the front desk and talk to her about her attitude.
