Great place to stay with the family! Only thing not cleaned as well as should be was one shower and the washing machine smelled, everything else was spotless! The kitchen/dining area was a little small to have a table and chairs. In one bedroon the bed was really close to the sliding door connected to bedroom. We paid 100 a night for this room and $10/night hotel fees???? For what im not sure. The pictures online show the indoor water park, but when you get there you have to pay 18.95/A person A DAY to go the the water park. We booked a one room "suite" for about $200 a night -- a pretty penny for this area. We got a basement in a unit against the hillside. No view and a strong musty smell. Nowhere on the site when we booked the room did it say we owed an extra $12 a day or convenience fees. That was deceptive. So add that to the price of the room per night before booking. My husband and I took our twin boys age 13. The boys were never bored which was a plus in my book. The resort was amazing and we will return soon. The pluses in my book, the rooms was very large and the full kitchen rocked with teen age boys. I was able to bring stuff to keep them full and out of my hair. The free Shuttle service was a great plus the drivers were the best and told awesome stories about the bears and the resort. We didn't have to go on the tour but we felt bad for the sales lady and went. The tour was 3.5 hours long, we were told 1 hour. Mo the sales guy was a blast so it was ok. "Pretty place to stay but beware of your room"
The resort overall was okay but the room was terrible. We had a 1 bedroom and got stuck in the basement. There is a long flight of steps to go down to the basement rooms, which is hard for anyone with health issues. Our room had a mildew smell that never went away. You could hear anyone walking, moving chairs, kids crying, and when the people upstairs […] turned their jacuzzi on it sounded like the ceiling was going to cave in. There were 4 rooms to a building and the wireless router for the building happened to be in our room so anytime someone had issues with wireless, their fix was to have maintenance knock on our door and ask to come in our bedroom to unplug and plug back in the router. Other than that, the furnishings were okay- a little cheap in my opinion for the cost of the room. The giant framed picture of the hotel developer and Dolly Parton in the living room was pretty tacky. It wasn't spotlessly cleaned- the jets in the tub were pretty gross and the bathrooms did not smell like they were freshly cleaned. "Pleasant Stay, But Unexpected Fees"
For our trip, we went on the weekend of 4/26. We stayed for one night and the next morning we checked out at 10 and spent the majority of the day at the indoor water park that is there. The only problems that surfaced were exclusively my fault and not of the Westgate Resort. For instance, the cost of the room was one price, and I assumed that the water […] park was included in that price. However, the water park was an additional $105, ($20 per person) and I did not know this upon arrival, but only because I did not conduct any research. There were also other fees I didn't know about, like a $50 hold on your account (that you get back after your trip) and an $11 resort fee. The hotel and grounds are pleasant enough but it gives off a fairly bizarre, cult-like vibe. They bend over backwards to be pleasant _ but almost too much. After a fairly lengthy check-in process, you are then handed off to another staffer who gives your room key to yet another staffer who meets you at your car to bring you to your room/cabin. I was slightly disappointed in the stay at Westgate. 1- the walls of the room are paper thin. I could hear the microwave buttons from the room next door, we could hear the chairs scraping across the floor above us, and lots of noise outside our room. Great hotel for the price. We skipped out on the water park and pool business but had a great stay nonetheless. Our room was immaculate with all the luxuries for a much needed vacation. We had a private balcony with a jaw dropping view of The Smokies with a nighttime mystical view of the lights of Gatlinburg down below. The check in process was a little […] lengthy but greatly appreciated with our own private tour escort to find our room at the top of the mountain.
