You may have a nice ocean view from the big resorts but you won't be steps from a great beach with few or no tourists in site like you will at the Blue Tile Inn. Beach is literally at your back porch! Amazing area to walk, swim, or just listen to the ocean. The staff made you feel like family just staying for a few days. Was there on a honeymoon and I couldn't have asked for more. Will be returning HERE sometime soon.

The Bed and Breakfast was a good experience. It was nice to have the food available, the fresh fruits, juices, beach was right next to it. I would not get the waterfall room unless you don't mind a very small room. It was decorated ok but, very small. Also the doors to this room are in dining room and right by kitchen, so you hear people coming and […] going. Bathroom was ok but small shower with no light. There is no central air, but not really needed with the weather. wifi is kind of sketchy. Yard was nice to sit in day or night to watch the ocean waves. I would suggest getting the sunset room, the upstairs oceanfront honeymoon suite, or the ground floor ocean view suite. We stayed in the Waterfall Room. It is NOT recommended. In fact, I do not think this meets the generalized characteristics that one would expect from a room intended for sleeping. First, the photo of the room was inaccurate. When we got there it turned out to be a large closet; not what we expected from the photo. In addition, it was surrounded by the […] common kitchen/main entrance, common dinning room, the laundry room and the parking lot and road. To top it off it was underneath the other rooms. We determined it was called the waterfall room because it sounded like we were going to get flushed out of the room every time someone above us flushed their toilet. Great little B&B in Paia. The road noise is a bit much in the rooms away from the beach. Beach front rooms have a great view and quiet garden serves all rooms. The shared kitchen, living room, and family room give a real homelike feel.

If you are looking for a homey atmosphere, not a resort, this is your place. While staying at Blue Tile Beach House you are staying in someone's home with other couples / families. Guests have access to the entire beach house (except other bedrooms). The atmosphere is very laid back and informal. Don't expect to be pampered, in many ways it's like staying […] with family. All guests have access to a kitchen stocked with breakfast foods, fruit, juice, milk, coffee, and basic sandwich makings. The kitchen has full size refrigerator and there is a gas grill outside. You can prepare any meals you want and there is room to store food you purchase. There is a small beach that is open to the public. Beach towels are provided in addition to normal bathroom towels. Blue Tile Beach House is on Maui's North Shore on the Hana Highway, about ten miles from Kahului (airport location), just outside of Paia. If you like surfing, wind surfing, or watching either - this is a great place to stay. There is a beach park about a mile east where there is a lot of surfing and wind surfing. Another beach park is about 2 miles west that is good for walking, finding shells, etc. Both of the beach parks have lifeguards. Read more

Beautiful ocean views off of our honeymoon suite. Nice walk into Paia. The house needs maintenance. Screens to our ocean view were rusty, torn, and difficult to open. Pillows on our bed were sour. It just needs some TLC. We had a great time anyway.

When I first drove up to this Beach House I thought -- oh no, did I make a mistake? Because there was surfing equipment around and the entrance is actually the back of the house, and it just looks like, well, somebody's house! But was I in for the best surprise... The house is incredibly open and comfortably appointed, with gorgeous wood floors and […] interesting one of a kind, rich wood furniture. Our room (I highly recommend the Plumeria Room!) had its own lanai overlooking the fountain and the ocean. The private bath was across a hall, but I never saw another soul a single time I went to it. We opened our door to the lanai at night, just leaving the screen shut and listened to the crashing of the waves and enjoyed the ocean air. I came with a cold and it was gone after the first night there. Also there is a public access to the beach right next to the house and one of the best beaches around literally right in our back yard. We watched the surfers every morning as we breakfasted in the back yard overlooking the ocean. It was AMAZING! Liam the innkeeper and Tyra, the housekeeper, were friendly and informative, and we absolutely adored them both. They are both very athletic and active in the islands' water sports as well - just ask Liam for a kite surfing lesson! The nearby town, Paia is what we liked to call "hippy dippy" which we also loved -some of the best eats on the island right there -- try the Fish Market and Ono Gelato ("sandy beach" flavor"). This hotel is located in an excellent location (on the beach!) and walking distance from Paia. It is not a 'real' hotel since linens are only changed every 3 days. The people managing it are very friendly and helpful and keep the place spotless. There is a communal kitchen for guests to use (so it's not a B&B either at this point). Opening the window is too noisy because it's on the road side, but keeping it closed made it very hot (in January), The room also did not have TV and was located next to the communal kitchen. We stayed at the beach house for 9 days and have fallen in love with Pa'ia. We went around the entire Island and the north shore was our favorite place to be. We ended up meeting several different couples and families and have made some lasting friendships. If you like a very laid back place to stay, this is it. Nice house, nice beach, good location. We were somewhat disappointed that instead of a "Bed and Breakfast" it was more of a "Make your own bed, make your own breakfast". Housekeeping came in once during our four night stay. Food was available in the kitchen if we wanted breakfast and we were asked to clean up after ourselves. Die Lage ist super und das Haus gross und schön. Leider werden keine Unterhaltsarbeiten durchgeführt und das Haus ist am verlottern. Wirklich enttäuschend war das inbegriffene Morgenessen: Selbst-Service vom Kühlschrank (Hostel-Style). Ausserdem haben sich regelmässig Freunde des eher schmudeligen "Managers" im Haus aufgehalten, was eher unangenehm […] war. Der "Manager" war sehr wortkarg, lief nur mit einem Handtuch bekleidet im Haus umher und schlief in einem der Gästezimmer, wenn diese mal leer waren.
