Really beautiful place in the old, retro manner. Large rooms. Very competent and nice staff. This is not a boutique or "special" place but is very comfortable and aptly priced. I will return.

Okay, so I haven't actually stayed at a lot of different places in Taos, so I don't have much to compare to, but I can say this, it was a great deal for the price. I didn't expect much, especially after reading some of the other reviews on this place, but I was pleasantly surprised. The beds were cozy, the room seemed clean, the interior decor was thought out and planned. The breakfast was mostly carbs, but it was fresh. The staff was very friendly and kind. It surely wasn't resort quality, but we knew that going in, based upon the star rating and the price. That said, we'll definitely be staying here again the next time we are in Taos. Read more

This facility is a true gem. The room and surrounding landscaping were professionally maintained and idealic for the surrounding town of Taos, New Mexico. The moring breakfast was well stocked and filling as well as served by the nicest hotel employee for whom you could wish. Comfortable bed, nice linens/towels/etc. We needed a late check out because we went on a balloon flight over the Rio Grande Gorge while visiting (highly reommended!) and that was no problem. Apparently El Pueblo Lodge had a recent update. We stayed in the motor lodge part where you can park your car right in front of your front door. The room is very well done with decent space and a good heater (we visited during a cold wave). Modern but with a nice southwest motif going on. And the bathroom is very cozy with an additional wall heater […] that heats up the towels hanging above it. We were very impressed by the quality of the room and the friendliness of the staff. We looked at the reviews online ahead of time and chose the hotel based on what others had said. Looking at the pictures we were a little worried that it might be a little "run-down," however, we felt like the pictures didn't do this charming little place justice. The […] accents in the room with tile are perfect. The room is completely updated with new mattresses, etc. The only thing we found wrong was the shower head was calcified and spraying all over. When mentioned to the front desk, they were very apologetic and appeared to genuinely care. The little breakfast was good and free (a bonus) and the lady working in there was so sweet. The lodge was a good value as the rooms were spacious, clean and adequately furnished. Service was very good, including housekeeping, WIFI, an above average continental breakfast (although hot items such as eggs would make it better) and cleaning snow from windshields. We really enjoyed the hotel. It has a great location within walking distance of downtown Taos and on the shuttle route to the ski mountain, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and we had a large room with a fireplace where the wood and "chem log" were restocked daily. That and a free breakfast and available hot tub made it a very pleasant stay.

My husband and I decided to try skiing at Taos Ski Valley last minute. We had no clue where to stay but found this place on Hotels.com. It had unusually high ratings for such a reasonably priced place. It really was a wonderful place to stay. The hotel is a bit outdated and old, but the rooms are huge and are kept very clean. They say the beds are […] new, and ours was very comfortable. The breakfast had a wide variety with plenty of fresh cut fruit. We opted for a fireplace and firewood was provided each night. Also, there was a shuttle that picked us up across the street, took us to the ski resort, and dropped us off at the hotel for only one dollar each way.... so convenient! We didn't use the gym, but it was being used. The hot tub is outdoors and isn't that close to the rooms, so we didn't use it because the thought of walking that far in the cold while wet didn't appeal to us. Taos El Pueblo Lodge was nice stay with an average sized room and spacious bathroom. We stayed on the El Pueblo Lodge in late November while traveling through the area. Easy to find, nice location. Check in was fast and easy. Somedays it's nice to be able to park the car right in front of the door of the room. Nice sized room nicely themed in traditional […] decorations. My immediate thought was, “how does this place get #1 on Trip Adviser?” Then I went into the bathroom. It was probably twice the size of the average hotel bathroom, with nice southwestern touches. You could tell this is where they put their money. The bed was comfortable, we didn't have any problems with noise – either outside or neighbors. We slept well and were ready for the next day. Nothing special on the outside, but what a lovely room! Spacious with all the NM touches-- vigas overhead, tinwork around the mirror, colorful tile around the sink. Walking distance from interesting stores and restaurants, about 15 minutes, on foot, from the plaza. And the price is definitely right.
