I read some of the other reviews before going to the W and I was prepared for the worst. But, it turned out to be a very pleasant experience. The room was not nearly as small as I had imagined, and the staff was helpful and attentive. The beds were extremely comfortable and there were plenty of towels. My only beef was that there was just one drawer for clothes and the bathroom was a little run down (if you looked under or behind the sink area). The bar gets very crowded at night, but it was a great hotel overall. Would definitely recommend it (although, don't stay with someone you aren't very comfortable with because the bathroom walls are just frosted glass!)

The room did not have the updated sink and shower like the other rooms iv'e been in before, this was one of the reasons I chose "W". I wanted to show the uniqueness of the faucets and neat little perks of this room. Overall, both rooms could of been more clean. The other room had left over tolet paper in the trash can...yuk! Not to mention that the tv didn't work with the remote. Also was missing a light fixture???

The W Times Square in NYC is a modern, upbeat hotel that is perfectly located if you are looking for an upscale, Times Square/theatre district experience. Staff was notably polite, friendly, helpful, and effective from curbside to room. I'll also throw in "cool." We enjoyed a corner room on the 54th floor which provided elegant midtown views and well-insulated quiet from the hustle of the crossroads of the world below. The room decor is stylish and contemporary and provided a thoughtfully planned work station if your visit is business. The overall space of our king-size bed room wasn' miniscule or overly generous for a leisure visit, and would be a bit tight for more than two people if entertaining or hosting business. The transluscent glass partitions separating the bedroom from the bathroom is a bit disconcerting if you desire a bit more privacy when performing personal functions, especially when illuminated at night. If you are conducting a business meeting with a client, you may want to refine your shadow show choreography along with the Powerpoint presentation. Thoughtful comedy and wonderment are provided in the retro-"when times were lush and extravagant" room service directory's menu and accompanying price list. (No, W doesn't quote that way, but if they Wish too, they may...at a price.) Don't be shocked, this is all of NYC. Room service prices don't become humanly feasible until you hit the burbs, ...Iowa, I think. Given the amounts, I believe the individual orders are filled there as well. I would stay at the W Times Square again in the future based on the staff's hip professionalism and the facility's tremendous location.

I live in DC and frequently come to NYC to bring friends and family who have never been. I either try to stay in Times Square or hotels on the Upper East Side (depending on that particular visitor), to give them their complete NYC experience, all with excitement and convenience. I usually stay down a few doors at the Marriott Marquis but decided to give the W a chance because it was finally at a price I was willing to pay. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed AND i was pleasantly surprised! My cousin (she is a small town girl from Georgia who lives for trends) loved it and was thrilled to be staying there too. When you walk in, it's pretty groovy! There are water walls, ceilings, and floors - water cascading all around you. There were also orchids, which are my favorite, so the W pretty much almost won me over completely. Anyway, you take an elevator upstairs to get to the lobby, which they call "The Living Room," which looks more like a lounge to me rather than a place you would check in for your room. Well, we go up to our room and we were impressed! We were digging the cool lights and modern furniture. We did not like the bathrooms though, because all the walls were frosted and did not provide enough privacy. But I did like all the Bliss products! Everything was very clean too. Other than that, everything was pleasant. The location was convenient and the staff were very professional and exhibited excellent customer service. I'll definitely go back.

The hotel itself is very nice, but we were a bit disppointed with our room. When we booked it, we asked for a non-smoking room (because my husband has asthma) and when we got to our room, it was a smoking room. It reeked of fresh smoke and I immediately called down to the front desk and asked for another room. They said they would send an ionizer to get the smoke smell out, but it would take an hour and we would have to leave the room because of the ionizing effect. We left for dinner and when we returned, the smell was just as bad. We decided not to move rooms because we had already unpacked our things, but noone from the front desk ever called to ask if our room was better. Luckily my husband didn't have an asthma attack that night.

When arrived to the hotel, it was late however, I called earlier in the day to pre-register because I knew that we would getting in late. When I got to room, it was not the spectacular room that I purchased but a corner room on the 10th floor that had no view of the city. I was very disappointed. The next day, I went to the front desk to request a move and they seemed hesistant to give me another room. The front desk agent did finally confirm that they would move me as long as my valuables were packed. When we returned later that evening expecting our new room, to much of my delight, my room was not ready. After waiting for about 20 minutes the room did become available and it was on the 51st floor. It had a better view but it was not facing time square. I just think that for the price that I paid, the customer service could have been better. I will not be staying there in the future.

The bathroom did have a kind of see-through glass which could be bad depending on who was staying there. It was really expensive, and everything cost a lot more when you got there. You have to pay a lot for internet and anything you order. I loved the hotel and would recommend it to people, but I'd probably stay somewhere else for our next trip a little less expensive. It was particularly strange that you COULD NOT see out of the bathroom (like a two-way mirror), but you could see into the bathroom.
