AC Hotel Gran Canaria by Marriott - Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

We stayed at AC after coming from Tenerife by boat. The hotel is minutes away from the port by cab, which makes it very convenient if you show up late like we did. We found the hotel very clean throughout (I will admit that Marriott standards were a refreshing change after our previous nights in "three star" hotels) and the staff very helpful and kind. […] The location is OK but not ideal, there is a beach nearby (three blocks) but due to city ordinance, it is very quiet in the evenings. Fortunately, you can get a cab to take you to Aguimes (Casco Viejo), where things get a lot more interesting at night. Finally, a free shuttle takes you to LPA (Gran Canaria International Airport), which is very convenient. All in all, a great business-type hotel. Read more

However, the spa facilities were not working; when I called reception to ask why they said the steam room and sauna had not been working for two years!! Very disappointing! A central hotel well located with splendid views over the port and civic squares, and about 5 minutes walk from the famous beach on the other side of the isthmus. The hotel is in a very convenient location in the centre of town. There is a very large shopping centre across the road with a few bars there too. The hotel runs a free shuttle from the airport usually about every 1-2 hours. I would suggest checking what times these run. The bus leaves from near the cab rank and there is a large sign on one of the columns […] saying this is where to wait and it also has the shuttle times. Either way its not too far by cab. The hotel is also very close to the port with the ferry terminus only 1-2 kms away. The hotel has a very nice foyer and the front desk staff are helpful. A functional business hotel, near where the big cruise ships and only a five minute walk down one side street to the Promenade and the beautiful beaches. The higher up you are the better. Our first room on arrival was on the 13th floor. We moved almost immediately as the room smelt of damp (probably the air con) and the floor was damaged. Got moved […] straight away to the 20th floor and the "rainbow" was view that greeted us on a few days and we could see the beach clearly from our room. Pool is on the roof and a great sun trap. First of all it is surrounded by much traffic on both sides of the hotel, so if your one of those persons who needs a good and quiet night of sleep -this is not the hotel for you! Very convenient hotel for travelling around as so near to the bus station at Santa Catalina. We had a lovely room with a view of the sea which is easy to walk to. We stayed in February which meant it was Carnival time. Unfortunately the main stage is right by the hotel so it was really noisy and difficult to sleep. This hotel is great! I had a fantastic view of the harbour from the 17th floor and all rooms have a balcony which is also amazing. The room size was good and the bathroom, although a little small, had an amazing shower. The room was immaculate every day and the mini-bar is included in your tariff so you always have a beer to greet you in the afternoon […] and there is also bottled water and soft drinks. This is a first for me (outside of all inclusive hotels). As soon as you close your balcony door, there is silence which is great if you 're a light sleeper. The rooms have blackout blinds if you need them so you can really get a good night's sleep. The staff were fantastic, they all spoke English well and accommodated my every request. The gym & rooftop pool are very well maintained and very clean. The hotel suppies beach towels for a $10 deposit that is refundable when you return the towels. They will change them over as many times as you need. The location is amazing - 2 min walk from a shopping mall which you can see easily from your balcony. Also you are 3 mins walk from the waterfront. On the way to the waterfront there is a Spar Supermarket where you can get everything you need including alcohol. I had an amazing stay and will stay there in my next trip. Read more

Firstly, this was really easy to get to from the airport on the 60 bus (turn right out of departures on top floor and it's the final stop). Secondly, the free bar was excellent. This was replenished every day as were the freebies in the bathroom. Finally, the hotel has a great beach towel arrangement in that you pay a deposit of 10 euros, but can get […] a clean towel at any time and get your money back at the end. We were there for a summer break and thought the beach was perfect (particularly as there weren't many other English people there), but we were under a bubble of cloud almost the whole week and the whole city seemed to be away for the summer - it was very quiet. We did get a 30 bus down to Maspalomas on one day and found the blue sky and sunshine typically expected of Gran Canaria there,but this did take just over an hour. So, I would highly recommend the hotel, but be aware that if you're not staying there on business you might find better weather in the south of the island. Read more

Its look from the outside is perhaps a little bit strange but DO NOT let that put you off as it is so modern inside and fitted out to a very high specification, everywhere is clean and tidy and the staff are so friendly and keen to help you all the […] time it is in Santa Catalina which is right next to Las Palmas only about 5km so if you are getting the bus from the airport it is only 2.5 euros and takes about 25 minutes but remember to get off at Santa Catalina which is about 7 minutes from Las Palmas and once you come up out of the bus station you see the hotel as its 4 minutes walk away. You get a fridge in your room which is stocked daily at no cost to you, 2 beers and the other 10 items are made up of water and soft drinks which is a really good idea, and there are also fridges of water at the swimming pool and fitness centre where you can just help yourself anytime. There is a swimming pool and sun terrace on the roof (25th floor) which is a great little place to chill out at. The beach is only 10 minutes walk and you can’t get lost finding it plus there are lots of places to eat and drink everywhere, there is a marvellous square full of cafe bars and shops and it’s a great place to eat and drink, all the people are friendly and welcoming to visitors. Use the bus service as you can travel all over the island for only a few euros; prices in general are very cheap. Read more

We chose this hotel on the strength of the high average rating in reviews. We didn't want to be in the touristy hotels on the beach. This hotel overlooks the ferry/naval/container port, but don't let that put you off. Its not that bad a view. We were on the 21st floor, and had a great view of the surrounding area. Canteras beach is just 10mins walk […] away, so its close enough. The bus station is a few mins by foot away, where you can get a cheap coach to the airport. Minibar was completely free. We didn't try the food or restaurant, and drinks were typically hotel pricey. For going out to eat, then its the beach area but its very touristy and suitably pricey. Go into town proper , off Plaza Espana, or into old town from San Telmo onwards towards the cathedral.. The ebst food we had was at Canas y Tapas. Good value, good food and half the price. All locals, no tourists generally. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the AC again. Read more

We travelled to this hotel from the airport using the No 60 blue "guagua" shuttle bus - ask for Catalina Park. Emerging from the underground bus station you see this elegant tall hotel just a short distance away. The views from all the rooms are awesome. We were overlooking the harbour and enjoying watching the comings and goings of the larger ferries […] and cruise liners. Walk down the taxi rank at the side of the hotel for a great little "locals" cafe serving excellent fried eggs, toast and coffee. This hotel is so near to everything - El Corte Ingles, Shopping Mall by the harbour, beach - and loads of street cafes in Santa Catalina Square. Our room was spotless, cleaned every day and toiletries also replenished daily as was the mini bar (free). Lovely soft towels, good gym (ask for the sauna to be turned on) and small but adequate roof top pool (not heated) with sun loungers - plenty of water always available in the gym fridge and at the pool. Staff discreet , friendly, helpful and very professional. We had a brilliant 10 days here on holiday and would not hesitate to recomment the AC Gran Canaria to anyone. Flott hotell for noen dager i storbyen. Fint rom, ok trimrom, bra frokost og kort vei til stranda Las Canteras. Gammelbyen/shoppingstrøket Triana ligger en kort taxitur unna og koster 5-6 euro. Hvis du får rom høyt oppe får du en fatastisk utsikt (bassenget på topp ligger i 25. et.).

Veldig ålreit hotell for en liten ukes ferie. Det eneste jeg ønsker å sette fingeren på er frokostutvalget, hvor jeg savner flere grove alternativer av brød, samt pålegg og grønnsaker. I tillegg er treningsrommet mye mindre enn jeg trodde, så planlagte økter ble ikke like lette å gjennomføre.
