A short guide to Southampton

Set on a broad inlet, Southampton is the largest city in southern England and cruise capital of Northern Europe. Some of the world’s largest liners are based here and many more visit regularly. The centre is modern but retains several historic buildings, two excellent art galleries, two theatres, plus good eating, drinking and shopping. Ocean Village leisure complex at the marina features a new museum of aviation.

We have just stayed at thsi hotel for the second time and it wasas excellent as the first time last year. The rooms are spacious and spotless with excellent facilities including quality flat screen tv. The restaurant is excellent, great value and interesting tasty quality food. I would recommend this hotel to anybody, great convenient location a few miles from southampton.

The Hotel grounds are beautiful and the appearance is very pleasant. Unfortunately, the beds seem to be from the 1950's, very uncomfortable, and are in dire need of replacement. The one hotel restaurant was very overpriced for dinners and the saving grace was a complete bar menu with sandwiches. Breakfast was incredibly overpriced at 14 pounds and the food was below average and unchanging during the two day stay. Overall, the stay was a complete disappointment and I will not use this property again.

Spent the weekend at Chilworth Manor and although I did not eat there the grounds were beautiful. The only issue I had was that the rooms were a bit dated yet they had flat screen TV's and we weren't offered any information about using the Manor's leisure facilities. Apart from that a wonderful place to stay.
