"LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
This little hotel has location, location, location! It is less than 5-10 minutes walking distance to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, & Tempolo Adriano. It is about 15-20 minutes from the Coliseum, the Forum, and Vittoria Emmanuelle, around 25-30 minutes from Piazza del Popolo, and a half hour from the Vatican. Seconds away from the main artery Via Del Corso, you can’t get a better location for a more reasonable price. The front desk staff is wonderful and Tomosso in particular will not hesitate to recommend the best restaurants and tell you how to get to all the sites within Rome. He recommended fabulous restaurants and mapped out a walkable itinerary of sites daily for us. If you don’t care to walk, the hop on hop off bus is two minutes away. What really sets this hotel apart is the 5th floor outside deck with a panoramic view which is used for breakfast in the morning and a possible night cap at night. What a way to start and end a day. It was beyond gorgeous and really a delightful highlight to a memorable stay in Rome. The rooms are big enough to accommodate two easily and are clean and neat. The only difficulty I encountered was that I was unable to connect to Wi-Fi but instead used the downstairs computer. Some of the rooms on the upper floors are only accessible by a short stairway which is difficult with heavy luggage. Other than that, our stay was perfect and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Excellent, convenience to airport was essential.

We did not get information that payment by card was not accepted. The breakfast was poor, bread from yesterday, cerials too sweet. The juice was more like lemonade than fruit-juice.
"Would stay there again"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Had a great experience. Our triple room was clean and bed very comfortable, including pillows. 40 inch hd tv with all the sky channels with the options to switch to English language. Filled a form with time and choices for breakfast . Arrived on time and plenty of food. ( Italian style breakfast) . Front desk nice and helpful. Near American embassy, hard rock cafe' , villa borghese park( very nice!) . Would stay there again and reccomand it to friends and family

Room was so small that we could barely walk around the bed and there were no drawers in which to put clothes. The buffet breakfast, however, was outstanding and the location very convenient. Front desk staff could be friendlier. The room was much smaller than the photo for that level of accommodation

The world’s smallest country, Vatican City is dominated by St Peter’s, Christendom’s largest church. Michelangelo’s humbling ‘Pietà’ and his Sistine Chapel ceiling frescos are among the world’s greatest works of art. The Aurelio area is named after the ancient Via Aurelia, the main road that connected Rome with Spain, and is convenient for visiting the city’s sights.

I have stayed at this hotel before and was very disappointed that the wonderful and friendly service that I received during my previous stay was no longer there. The hotel is alright but I would not give it a 4 star rating.

"Hotel Gran Tiberio"
The hotel itself was good, staff was decent. The restaurant in the hotel is subpar at best. Granted breakfast was free, we had dinner there on one night of our stay and the food was pricey and not the least bit tasty. The free shuttle service to rome city center is garbage because the seats fill up incredibly fast and its impossible to get a reserv […] ation. Read more
"Grand Hote Tiberio-helpful and friendly staff"
We recently stayed at the Grant Hotel Tiberio for a week. Unfortunately, our 87 year old mother fell touring one of the sites while we were in Rome. The hotel provided a wheelchair for her to use while we were there free of charge. The bathrooms and rooms were spotless. The cleaning ladies and front desk personnel were cheery, helpful, and efficient. […] The morning breakfast was the same each day but plentiful. There is a bus stop about a half block from the front door. We were close to the Vatican. The online price was very reasonable. SD Guests Read more
"Too far from center city"
Breakfast was good, place was affordable, bed was nice, hotel was clean....it just was not close enough to what we wanted to see. An FYI for anyone looking at this hotel - yes, it is close to Vatican City - but that is it! All of the other must-see-Rome locations are a trek.

"grand hotel tiberio"
Enjoyed our stay in Rome, and the hotel was very comfortable, easy to get into the center of Rome and the complementary breakfast each morning was great.
I booked 2 rooms. One was much nicer than the other. VERY nice breakfast!
"GHT: Beautiful hotel in a quiet neighborhood."
Clean, comfortable, beautiful. We had a 2BR suite with balcony, overlooking the quaint Roma(ntic) neighborhood. In addition to the free breakfast in the dining room before we set out to tour Rome, we went to the grocery around the corner for a couple bottles of wine, some cheese, crackers, olives and fruit for an evening snack on the rooftop terrace. […] You can see St. Peter's lighted dome in the distance looking over the neighborhood. We actually preferred walking the few blocks through the italian neighborhood to the metro and Vatican City, rather than take the shuttle. Grand Hotel Tiberio was perfect. We loved it; kids loved it. Fabulous hotel. Wonderful staff, service was great, rooms were nice.
"You can find better. Maybe?"
After spending time in Rome, not sure weather you would find better for the money but give it a shot. Room was small, the toilet barely flushed, bed was rock hard(like the rest of Italian beds)Not sure one can do better in Rome for the price as I'm sure alot of places have plumbing issues there. That being said, it's pretty close to Vatican city. Lobby […] is nice and clean, so was the room. Do yourself a favor and skip the free breakfast. I tried everything and it was terrible. I let the meat fall out of my mouth as I chewed. Worst meal in Italy bar none. At least the cereal was ok. Not sure what else rome has to offer for the price but it seemed like a 2-3 star hotel. "Amazing hotel manager"
Our stay was fantastic. The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly and very helpful. Angelo the manager went above and beyond to make our stay memorable and enjoyable!

"mixed. good rooms, decent location, poor service"
good if you're pretty self-sufficient Pro's: - Room was very good. A lot of room considering the european standard. - Has a small but workable swimming pool (kid sized, not lap size). small workout room with about 6 machines. - Location was pretty good. not in the center of everything, but 20 minute walk from the vatican museum. it's right beside one […] of the train lines and by the 990 bus line. - free internet. con's: service was pretty poor. - no ice machine. get it from the bar, which is open from about 7pm-12pm. and then in small bowls. - shuttle service has room fro about 6 people only. essentially it's always booked unless you plan several days in advanced. - shuttle to airport only 3x / day. - service folks are minimally helpful at best. giving poor/incomplete/wrong information at worst. other: - breakfast was included. was a small selection. only eggs and bacon were hot. everything else was cold stuff. "Great Hotel for families"
We stayed only one night after our cruise. It was a lovely hotel and provided four single beds for my husband and me and our two grandsons. The beds were harder than we are used to, but not so much that we couldn't sleep. This is a beautiful hotel that more than met our expectations and the complimentary breakfast was fabulous. It was difficult to get […] to the city center on the metro, so if you are staying for some time and want to see the sights of Rome, this might not be a good location unless you use a taxi which can get to be quite expensive. The hotel does have a shuttle (not free) but doesn't run often or late. Since most hotels in Rome are equipped for only two guests, this was a great choice for us. It is also very beautiful and clean. The staff was helpful and spoke understandable English! I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again. Read more
"Rome hotel"
This was a very nice hotel, worth returning to. They had a fabulous courtesy breakfast buffet. It is in a residential neighborhood that doesn't look so good, but was no threat. A metro stop is 1/2 a block away, but it requires making some additional connections to get to the Rome attractions. That's complicated at first, but you get to know it. The […] hotel offers a courtesy shuttle to some locations, but the schedule is limited. Bus 99 is the best way to go. The rooftop terrace is very beautiful. It's not a central location, but the price is good! Read more
"Extremely good value for the money"
Great hotel, comfortable rooms, good breakfast, and very good staff. Only downside is that it's a bit far from the center of town BUT it's well within walking distance to the Roma Metro or the FR3 train.
Too far from everything. I do not recommend it unless they start shuttle service.
"Great Hotel, great location..."
Staff was very helpful. Bus stop right outside hotel and metro station in within walking distance from hotel. Breakfast was great. Recommend %100. Loved it...
Clean, pleasant staff and good point to commute from.
"Grand Tibero"
Fantastic and super comfortable/ luxurious rooms for the price. A bit far, about 40 Euros, to the airport and at least 10 Euros to major attractions.
The breakfast buffet with marginal - poor selection compared to other hotels we've stayed in Italy. The mattresses were hard, almost like sleeping on a cot. However, the front desk associate gave us a recommendation for a restaurant which was the finest dining we had in all of Italy. The hotel staff is friendly and professional!
Umberto, our concierge, was very helpful! He recommended plenty of great restaurants, called taxis for us, told us where to go and what to do. Overall we had a great experience. He also helped us book our hotel in Florence for a great deal too. Thanks again and we loved the stay. We wish the pool patio and lawns were better maintained but it was […] nice enough. Read more

Great place to stay as long you got a car
"Clean & Spacious Hotel"
Beautiful room, decent breakfast offerings, curtious and helpful counter staff that spoke English. The only lacking part of our stay was the 7 min walk we had to take to simple buy take-out food. Otherwise, the bus that stopped near the Hotel got us to many places EASILY. And, the hotel is near the Open Tour bus line whose ticket is also good on mass […] transit buses. Read more
This Hotel was way off the beaten path. You would have to take the bus and the Metro to get to the Vatican, which is not the way it appeared in the write up of the hotel. The staff were not exceptionally friendly and the wait staff were not up to par either. I would not go back.
"Good stay at Hotel Tiberio"
The hotel was very clean and our room was comfortable. It actually llooks like the photos you see advertised. The staff here were very helpful and patient in responding to our many questions. The location is good. It's only a ten minute bus ride to the Vatican and most other attractions. Having a free breakfast each morning was also a plus; helping […] cut down the food costs of our trip. I would definately recommend this hotel and stay here again if I return to Rome. Read more
"Hotel Grand Tiberio"
Very nice modern hotel in a bit of an obscure neighborhood. Good train and Metro service to metropolitan Rome. They should, however, provide clear, step-by-step directions to the hotel. It was quite hard to find initially, and not close to the major tourist attractions.
"Good hotel - bit of a trek from central attraction"
Nice hotel and the hotel offers a shuttle service to town, but it is out of the main centre for restaurants and sights.

"decent hotel"
the hotel was nice, clean and average comfort but the tv wasnt working most of the days we were there. the breakfast could be a bit better in the sense that the milk for the cereal was @ room temperature. the rooms could use an iron and board for those travelers who have to pay for their luggage at the airport. irons do weigh some. And for some reason […] no ice bucket in the room or ice for that matter. Read more
"Grand Hotel Tiberio"
The only drawback was the location--a bit far from the sights, but the great treatment by the staff and the cleanliness of the hotel more than compensated. The tram system along with the metro made travel fairly easy. Would highly recommend this hotel.
"Grand Hotel Tiberio Rome"
The hotel did an excellent job with everything that they could control. The staff was helpful, the public areas pleasant, the rooms clean and comfortable, and the cost reasonable. However, the location is off the beaten path - about a 25 minute walk north of the Vatican, and even further to historic Rome and Trastevere. The cab ride from the train station […] was nearly 40 Euros for three people. The neighborhood around the hotel, while safe, was quite covered with graffiti and somewhat dirty. We did eat at an excellent neighborhood restaurant nearby and enjoyed it very much, but the selection was limited and there were virtually no options for anything to do or see after dinner. We appreciated the good service and nice quality of the hotel, but the location made it less than ideal for tourists. If a guest had some particular reason to be in this part of the city, the Grand Hotel Tiberio offers good service and good value. Read more

"Grand Hotel Tiberio"
Great breakfast and staff, location was a littleout of the center but very convenient once I figured out the bus and train routes. Bus and trains run very frequently so I never waited long. Close to the Vatican Musem an easy walk though the return I soemtimes took the bus, because it was an uphill walk. Staff fluent in English and very accomodating, […] cleaners we efficent and regular. I would stay again. Friends joined me mid way through the stay and they felt the same way about their room and the hotel. Read more
"Lovely Hotel but Staff a bit uncaring"
The hotel itself was super but the staff seemed unfriendly at times and were not very willing to assit with problems. They called me a cab and I left my camera in the taxi but had a very hard time getting them to help me contact the cab company at all. I had to leave before I had an answer about the camera but they never called me to tell me whether […] it was found or not. Guess it is not their problem. Read more
"Great Hotel for the Money and in a quiet neighborhood"
The Hotel was nice. It was quiet, we had a decent sized room with air-conditioning and a wonderful ristorante right down the road.....also, the Gelato was so good in that area, one of our favorite's. We felt safe walking around the entire area and we were just two girls.
"HOTEL STAFF NEEDS TO BE BE MORE HELPFUL"
hotel clean & breakfast good & complete. staff needs improvement in offering information important to tourist, most staff were unwilling to give much more than a yes or no answer. not customer service oriented.

"would reccomend"
this hotel is excellent, friendly, clean comfortable.it runs a shuttle into the city but the frequency could be better although the bus stops right outside.
"Gread Deal"
4 star hotel for the price of a 3 or 2 star in Rome. Helpful staff, very close to public transportation, parking, good continental breakfast. The map of the area they handed out was out of date and we got confused once.
"Affordable and Pleasant"
Nice staff that speaks English well, good Continental breakfast, large bathroom (which is rare in Rome). Very close to a subway station, which is just one stop away from getting on Metro Line A. Not really in a neighborhood filled with restaurants or shops though, which is a shame if you're getting back late and want a nice supper. Beds are uncomfortable, […] but I had to sleep on a pull out sofa. Seem to have frequent technical difficulties, in our first room the TV was broken, in the second room, the lights wouldn't turn on. Quiet at night. Read more

"Not a 4 star service"
1: The receptionist wiped my iPhone trying to connect it to their wi-fi. I lost everyhting; contacts, emails, apps, photos, music. Some I can't replace ever again; 2: The breakfast was not 4 star: coffee and "juice" from a machine (not fresh), eggs from a liquid (again not fresh), poor quality meats, and a service which was rushed and unfriendly; 3: […] The driver from the hotel was rude. He drove aggressively, argued and shouted at other road users, complained when we asked to go to the final scheduled stop, and leaped out of the minibus before it had stopped; 4: The location is terrible. It's a good 30 minute walk to the Vatican, and miles from the ancient city. There are no restaurants nearby, so you are stuck using the hotel's own restaurant; 5. The Hotel was being renovated, and we were woken each morning at 7am to the sounds of drills and cement mixers; 6: Summed up - expensive and aweful. Read more
