My daughter and I enjoyed our one-night stay at the Clarion. The pool and spa were a perfect after dinner-before bed treat. The continental breakfast bar was adequate and would probably be especially beneficial to families.

For the area, this hotel is a fair value. VERY convenient location off the PCH. With GPS or a map, it's not hard to return to your room from Cannery Row, etc. The breakfast hours are later than East Coast typical hours, especially for East Coast stomachs on a time zone change. I guess they're not meant for business travelers. If you're looking for non-dairy protein, you'll need to grab breakfast somewhere else. Pool and hot tub hours aren't strictly monitored--nice for late night relaxing. Parking is limited but not impossible. Free disc golf course across the street. The desk workers at the front were very helpful.

room looks like fairly new renovated. Nice tiles in bathroom but bathroom roof had mold. Rest of room was clean, nice breakfast. Pool n jacuzzi nice but after seeing a kid throwup in pool changed our mind for a swim. Our room had a nice coffee maker, refridgerator n microwave. Didn't sleep well cause room was noisy inside and out. Felt like an elephant was walking on the ceiling and could hear TV, Radio, people talking from adjencent rooms. If you are a heavy sleeper would be an ok room.

The rate was a little high for what you get, and there was a little tension with the staff member that checked us in (might have been a language barrier, might just have been the late hour, but still). That said, there are many things to like about this hotel: the parking is readily available, the facilities and mini-gardens are nice, and the breakfast is nicely presented and maintained (if a little minimal in variety). There were occasional problems with internet connectivity during our stay, but nothing unusual for hotels in this class. Overall - a perfectly fair and effective stay. Lots of nice little touches, a little neutralized by the higher-than-expected rate. Might be a better deal on a less busy weekend.

I liked the fact that the pool was heated and my children enjoyed swimming in the pool. I did not like the room. It was in need of cosmetic repair. One of the doors leading to the 2nd bedroom had a faulty door lock. Once it was locked it could not be unlocked. Luckily that room had 2 entrances so we had to only use the one accessible entrance. Also there was a dead bug/large mosquito on the window valence in the room. It had not been squashed, so it took me a little time to figure out that it was dead. This is a sign of poor cleaning to me. The bed mattress was uncomfortable and I woke up in the morning with back pains. The room is in need of a new paint job. There were dark marks on all the walls. Perhaps they might think about using a paint with a 'satin' finish as opposed to flat. At least with doing that you will be able to wash smudges off the wall.

Bathroom on the small side considering it was a 2 room unit with a jack and jill set up. TV, VCR, Coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave were nice to have in the room. Room was spacious and had plenty of room for wheelchair access. Overall, descent place to stay.

This hotel was neither outstanding nor terrrible. There are about a dozen hotels in a row along this stretch in Monterey. I'm sure any of the other hotels would have been comparable to this one. I would have no qualms about returning to this hotel. But neither would I have a problem with choosing any of the neighboring hotels instead.

Yes the room had been repaired a time or two and some of the furnishings had seen better days, but the staff was great and the bed was the best hotel bed we've had in a long time! Not bad for what I paid. The first room I was in had damp carpets from having been cleaned earlier that day. They should have known that they would not have been dry by then. When I alerted the front desk, I was immediately given another room with dry carpets. The only negative was that the room smelled musty. Don't stay here if you want to be within walking distance of the "downtown/main row" area of monterey-It's a 5 minute drive.

This place exceeded our expecations for the low price . The beds were comfortable with big soft pillows, (not like some hotels with worn out flat pillows.) The room was clean, and it's great that it is a non smoking hotel. We loved the indoor pool and hot tub. The pool was really warm even though it was raining outside. That was really nice! The only thing that wasn't perfect was that it was very easy to hear voices from outside, but the heater was loud enough to drown them out.
