"Central location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
The Convent Hotel is located on one of the main streets in Amsterdam and within easy walking distance to the Centraal Train station and Dam Square-so public transportation is a snap. The hotel is well kept and the staff is very friently. The one complaint about the staff is that they do not seem very knowledgeable about typical tourist activities in Amsterdam and we didn't find a concierge staff member to help with some of our questions. Our booking through hotels.com did not include the breakfast, which looked wonderful and was expensive, so we found a lovely little care within a block or two from the hotel for our breakfasts. Lots of tours seem to use the hotel, so the staff is very comfortable speaking in English with everyone. The entrance to the hotel faces the very busy street, but the rooms are all in the back of the hotel and are very quiet. We enjoyed our stay. I would suggest trying to get the breakfast included in the hotel price.

"Easy walk to must see sights"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The hotel was clean, nice, the staff friendly and helpful, especially the Concierge. The location was great, within walking distance of many restaurants, and things to see in Amsterdam.

excellent location to the airport, service was excellent. Great to have a real "walk in" shower!

Amsterdam’s international airport, Schiphol is 14 kilometres south-west of the city centre. It’s a modern efficient gateway, well signposted, boasting good shops and the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Schiphol, which houses a small number of works from the Rijksmuseum. Within the terminal a train station provides a fast frequent service to the city centre and outlying areas. Taxis and airport-to-hotel shuttle services are also available.

The hotel itself and faculty was really nice. When we looked it up, it mentioned it was close to amsterdam. well it wasnt as close as we thought. parking to stay in the hotel was pricy. I should have read the reviews a little better so that was my fault. we got double charged for some reason. we have older kids that thought it was boring because the […] internet in the room was a land line not wifi. you would have to pay for that too. wifi was free but in the lobby area only. we ate out most of time because the resturant was pricy too? it was reasonably close to the keukenhof gardens. "Far out of the way and Expensive!"
This is your typical middle of the road hotel that is claiming to be 4 star without the service level expected from such an establishment. No wireless in the room and only a wired connection that was like an extra charge. We were a group of 3 and booked the room as this was the cheapest option at the time with no extra person charges. Low and behold […] here come the hidden costs! There was an extra person charge, no free parking and a City tax. Total for all the hidden costs added about 35% to the costs!!! For that I could have stayed in the city center with parking. I can stomach the City Tax as that is normal, but charging for the Parking is just plain price gouging and not mentioning the extra person charge at check out or on Hotels.com is ridiculous! Enough is enough with that stuff! When I book on this site(hotels.com) I would expect everything to be in the price, not just the booking of the room. Are you with me here? I hope some of you take heed of this and let Hotels.com know that we're sick of hidden costs and fees! As far as the hotel, it is about 20 KM outside of Amsterdam which makes it quite far from the City Center. The hotel staff were helpful in that they recommended the park and ride, which was only 8 EURO a day for 24 hours of parking and a free round trip into the city. This was probably the best deal in Amsterdam as this city really knows how to squeeze out everything they can! As a world traveler this has to be the worst experience thus far in a hotel booking and I've had some bad ones. This was not my first trip to Holland but it was probably my last. Bottom line, if your looking for a cheap option, this isn't it. If you want a decent place to stay for business in a quiet out of the way area this might be the place for you as long as you have a fat expense account from your company. Read more

"Courtyard Marriot - Comfortable but Inconvenient"
Like all the other Marriot hotels I've stayed at, the rooms here are clean and comfortable. All of the employees speak English and are willing to help. However, the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Expect to pay $30 to get to the airport. There is an airport shuttle that comes once an hour.
"great location near the airport"
Very quiet, but still close to everything for a good price.
"hidden costs"
This hotel was very American in many ways but it had many unnecessary hidden costs. It is in suburban Amsterdam with ample property surrounding it. However, they charge 20 euro per day to park a car. We never paid that fee because we found a way around it. They also are called Airport Marriott, but they are about 15 minutes from the airport and charge […] another 20 euro to use their shuttle to the airport. Other hotels in the area showed that their airport shuttle was free printed right on the side of the vehicle. Dinner in the Hotel was nice but VERY slow service and also quite expensive. Read more
"Would love to go back!!!!"
My family and I really enjoyed this hotel. The staff was friendly, the ambiance was nice, and there were other facilities in walking distance that we enjoyed as well.

"Very nice airport hotel"
Needed a night to stay between flights, and the Courtyard by Marriott was just perfect. The hotels own shuttle bus picked us up at gate A9 at the airport in the evening and delivered us to the departure wing the morning after. Shuttle took about 15 minutes. Very quiet and comfortable rooms. The hotel is situated in an unexpectedly rural surroundings. […] Some simpler restaurants are located nearby. We took our breakfast at Shiphol. Read more
"Decent hotel if you can compromise on convenience"
The hotel is up to good Marriott standards, so have no qualms in recommending it as an airport hotel. It's quiet, comfortable and the staff are friendly. The setting next to a park allows an escape from the bustle of the airport and city. On the downside, the hotel shuttle is fine for a one-off return to airport/Schiphol train station, but would be […] expensive for a group planning day trips into Amsterdam. We stayed three days and found it was easier to take the very frequent No 300 bus from Schiphol (Stop B) to the Overbos stop (an easy walk to/from the hotel). Pay on board. Details can be found, ironically, on the hotel's shuttle bus timetable via the hotel's website. The bus takes about 20 mins to the airport. We explored nearby Haarlem taking the 300 the other way and made the sub-hour journey in and out of Amsterdam (via the bus and train) part of the enjoyment of our trip! Don't count on good choice of restaurants at the hotel (esp. for vegetarians), but you shouldn't starve. Maybe plan to eat before you retreat to the hotel. Wifi is only available in the lobby, as is coffee (and that is only complimentary between 6-9am, which is a bit mean). Overall, we enjoyed our stay - it was cheaper and quieter than staying in city centre Amsterdam! Read more

"Far from City center"
This hotel is far from the city . the restaurant is closed and we ended up eating in the bar some snacks with out any dinner and moreover there are no restaurants near by, overall not satisfied.
"Enjoyed it"
Came for 2 nights. The first night in order to go on a Crouse the next day and the second to fly, the next day, from Schiphol Airport. Wonderful modest hotel with beautiful surroundings, good service, large and conformable rooms and a very rich breakfast, All for a reasonable price. 20 minutes by shuttle to the airport and about an hour to Amsterdam […] via the shuttle and train. "Hoge kosten"
Read more
