Marriott's Shadow Ridge - Palm Desert

The location, size of room, size of the overall resort, and the activity center area were all impressive. The free movies night and activity center was pretty neat. The pool was just right, even though others have lazy river, this was ok. The golf view and lake view was outstanding. Would come back to this location again

We stayed at the Marriot Shadow Ridge to attend Coachella. We wanted a quiet clean place to come back and relax after what were sure to be long days. Overall we were disappointed. While I understand it is a time share property, this does not mean that when I pay hotel rates I do not expect hotel service. Not only were the restaurants not open for breakfast, […] they closed for anyone who eats dinner after 8 (which was us the day we arrived). There was no coffee in our room the second day, and when we requested some at the nearest "restaurant" (read: overpriced snack bar) we were told only the main lobby had any coffee. While they did deliver coffee after it was requested on the second day housekeeping forgot to leave behind clean towels. Additionally, the walls were paper thin. Finally, the hotel has a check out time of 10 am and a check in of 4 pm. Come on, after paying that much for a room I get it for only 18 hours? While generally I look to Marriott for quality after our Shadow Ridge Experience I will start looking elsewhere. Read more

We did a family trip at this location and stayed in the 2 bedroom villas. The room was wonderful, large and very clean and updated. The kitchen was fully stocked with plates and glassware. The unit even had a washer dryer so we could rinse and dry swimsuits after the pool. Unit close walk to main pool with slide. We had a great time. My only complaint […] was that they had one waitress at the pool, so it could take long making and getting your order. We went during Easter Weekend which is very busy in Palm Desert/Palm Springs area. Very nice family location and grounds were beautiful. Rooms are clean, new and comfortable. Very good value for your money. Lots of children and kids activities. There are some building that appeared quieter and I would request if we stayed there again because our kids […] are older. Requested a room close enough to pool but far away enough to avoid the noise by guest in the pool. The young gal at the desk said she had a newly renovated room with Ss appliances and granite counters for us...not so. Needless to say we were far enough to avoid the noise from the pool but right next to the street and we heard all the noise from main […] road even with the door closed. We had a difficult time getting a good nights sleep and forget about sitting in the patio. The resort was pretty full so not good option to move. My family of four enjoyed our stay. The weather was cold and rainy so I spent a lot of time in the kids rec room. My 8 and 7 year old had fun playing there and kept them busy. The next day we enjoyed the pools. Would be a lot of fun in warmer weather.

This past weekend, we noted what could & should be addressed so others looking into a pleasant and fantastic stay at Shadow Ridge are able to enjoy what is to be their "getaway"... 1. Check-In: Two attendants working. The wait was ridiculous. 2. Entry into Villas gated community: Attendant to properly instruct gate entry, which […] is not using your villa card as indicated on call box/phone. Entry code is written on bottom of parking tag in folder. Car line back-up, 11 vehicles. Went back to have new villa card programmed and was instructed to enter room # to open gate. And again, this failed. Vehicle came out, all was clear & we entered at exit gate. Following morning, site attendant opened gate using their code. 3. Families with children: Resorts i've been to have designated room locations for families with or without children and those looking to get away for special times. We were oh so lucky to have the all night slumber party / cheer squad next door, literally. Not what we were looking forward to when weekend called for well deserved getaway. 4. Check-Out time: Three were given by three different attendants. 11am person, 12pm person, then 10am phone. Chose the latter to not acrue an additional charge. Read more

Ok it's not the hotel/resort it appeared to be. They allow personal coolers and food at the pool. So people (and everyone else in the neighborhood) take advantage of this. People brought beer cans, pizza, P&J sandwiches etc. It invites a whole new crowd of people. Lots of guys with Tattos and smiw shorts pulled half way down their butt. It was a 100+ degree day and the pools were extremely over crowded. What grossed me out the most about the pool was that the water was extremely murky! It may have been everyone's sunblock/perpiration that canged the clarity of the pool. Never the less, the pool's filter should have taken care of it!

the view from our villa was amazing (2600 area), very quiet, and relaxing. I had to call the front desk about trash and linen that was piled up outside of our door, we were near the housekeeping closet, so i guess it was easier to just pile trash near that area insted of get rid of it. other than that. We are a family of 4 with two little ones ages 2 1/2 and 5. We chose this hotel for the kids pool and the Activity Center. We wanted to them to be entertained without needing us! We would be greatly disappointed in that aspect because the water slide didn't open until 2pm everyday. The water guns etc were not even close to how they were depicted on […] the website and the Activity Center was a total bust. All of the games operate with quarters. You can only get quarters from the coin machine...which was broken, along with most of the arcade games. We spent about 15 minutes in there. Very disappointing. Our room however was amazing. We had a Villa on the 1st floor. There were baby bunnies & hummingbirds everywhere! The kids spent alot of time trying to catch one! We had a full kitchen, thank goodness since all of the bar & grills closed at 6pm & the prices were outrageous. Dominoes delivers there just fyi. There is no room service either. I loved the villa it felt like home super nice and comfortable,my hoorls had lots of fun in the pools and water park. We will definitely be staying here every time we come to palm springs. The only thing that was bumer was that they didn't have nick or Disney channel, but they do have blue ray eve player so next time we will pack some movies.

When we arrived, the lady at the front desk mentioned that she was going to send a bottle of wine but that never showed up. There are no full restaurants, so you better stop at a store and bring your own food for snacks after 8 pm. Don't count on watching television as the reception was horrible. Check-in for the hotel is 4 pm, which is late as most hotels have a 2 pm timeframe. They told us they might have a room earlier, so we arrived at 2 pm. We had all our refridgerator/freezer food in a cooler in the car, waiting until we could check into our room. They told us they would call us when our room was ready. At 4 pm, they said our room was […] still being cleaned. It was not ready until 4:30 pm, and there were staff coming and going until almost 5 pm. We had planned a menu of food, which we hoped to start cooking by at least 4 pm, so we could have a long leaisurely first night vacation dinner. We book a room with a kitchen so we can make such dinners. Despite having kitchens, this hotel seems to be for a crowd that does not cook. While the size/layout of the kitchen was great, there was only 1 small frying pan, thus making cooking inconvenient. Again, the kitchen in the room seems appropriate to those who microwave prepared food. The thermostat in the room constantly reset to 70 degrees. Given that it is Palm Desert and 100 degrees outside, there is no need to have the inside like a freezer. In fact the guidelines for the room suggest keeping the temperature at 80 degrees, but yet the thermostats were clearly programmed differently. Last thing--the check out time is 10 am. Again pretty early for a hotel, when most are 11 or 12. You'd think with guests being forced to check out at 10 am, they could get a room cleaned by the ridiculously late time of 4 pm. Read more

We stayed at this hotel in June 2012. We were there with our 4 year old boy. Overall, we had a great time! There where a few downs as well thou... The ups: Beautiful, spacious landscapes. Lots of swimming pools, with a shallow one for little kids. One has a waterslide anybody is allowed to use, no height or age restriction. There is a little restaurant […] at the pool so it's easy around lunchtime if you don't want to leave. And the pizzas aren't to bad! Rooms were spacious and clean. You can park very close to your unit and there were always available spots. The downs: Very crowded and busy and loud at the pool!!! We had a VERY hard time finding available chairs at the swimming pools. The second day, we even had to share one chair, for the 3 of us!!! It's a little frustrating because we saw SO many chairs that were taken but we didn't see their "owners" at all! Food and drinks are allowed around the swimming pool and some people were eating in the pool!!! We saw chunks of food falling in the water...They even had to close one of the pools the first day, for a few hours, to clean it! We always bring a white noise machine with us when we stay at a hotel and I was really happy to have it this time because with all the kids around, you hear a lot of running and slamming doors pretty early in the morning... But I guess this is what you get when you want a "family-friendly" hotel...So yes, we will certainly go back there and I recommend this place for families with younger kids. Read more

Not at all what it represents itself to be. This is NOT a resort! It is a group of Condos that look and feel like cheap apartments. I've spent a lot of time in Palm Springs at many different places and this place was by far the worst. In fact all the others were great. This place was a dump!
