I was not impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel elevator or hallways when I arrived at the hotel. It looked like the elevator had not been swept or hallways had not been vacuumed in days. That caused me to inspect my room with intensity. I am already paranoid because i once worked in a hotel and know what the standards of clean are so for the […] first thing to see is a dirty elevator and hallway turned me off to extended stay. And when my TV repeatedly lost sound the front desk instructed me to unplug it and plug it back in and let them know what happened. Margarita was great! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Outdated, yet clean."
It was a nice clean room, however it was much smaller than it appeared. It was hard manuevering around the bathroom door and very tiny kitchen area. Pretty well outdated and there were absolutely no frills. For example, I would think they would at least leave some dish soap under the sink. You could get it at the front desk, but would be nice to have […] at least one packet handy already. The location was superb however for where I needed to be. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"What a major disappointment."
Room was dirty, furniture was dirty. The carpet just outside our door looked like someone was shot there. Didnt provide blowdryer or enough shampoo. The bathroom floor was extremely slippery. TV was little and remote worked only half the time. Gave one packet of coffee for 2 people for 2 days. Coffee maker said it was 4 cups. We got 2. Bed was like […] a block of cement. "SUCK NEEDS A MAKEOVER"
THIS PLACE IS A DUMP! THEY LOBBY LOOKS ALL NICE RIGHT WHEN YOU COME IN BUT ONCE YOU GET OFF THE ELIVATOR ITS LIKE YOU WALKED INTO A DIFF HOTEL. THE HALLWAY CARPET HAD SPOTS ALL OVER AND IT WAS SO SICK I HAD TO CARRY MY STUFF B/C I DIDNT WANT MY BAGS TO TOUCH THAT SICK CARPET. ROOMS ARE OUTDATED AND ARE NOT LIKE WHAT THEY SHOW IN THE PICS. THE TV WAS […] THE SMALLEST THING IVE EVER SEEN AND IT WAS ABOUT 15 YEARS OLD. NO FLAT SCREEN LIKE SHOWN. THE SHEETS HAD SOMETHING YELLOW ALL OVER THEM AND HAD TO GO DOWN AND GET NEW ONES. LOOKED ALMOST LIKE SOMEONE WENT TO THE BATHROOM IN THE BED AND THEN THEY JUST LEFT IT. ALL TOGETHER I WOULD PAY MORE TO SAY AT A CLEAN HOTEL AND NOT A DUMP LIKE THIS ONE! the cleanliness of our room was questionable, the pillows cases looks yellow aand smell dirty as well the rest of the room. the coffee maker was broken.the front desk and house keeping people was very nice, but the facility needs a remodeling .A.S.A.P.!!!!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice, clean, roomy"
The room was nice and clean with plenty of room. Only 2 pillows were provided and I would have liked a third. The sink was in the bathroom but I prefer it outside so that both of us could get dressed in the morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't stay here!"
Checked in and was overwhelmed by the smell of cigarette smoke when we entered our room as it was supposed to be non smoking. There were ashes on the table and the bed was like sleeping on a cardboard box. The highlight was when my 13 year daughter found a dirty old mans sock in her bed . The bedding had not been changed from the last guests and as […] far as we know it could be the same bedding from many past guests. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
hotel is in bad shape. the hotel is very deceiving. the outside of the hotel is nice and up kept, the hotel lobby is nice and upkept and then when you head to ur room, the rugs are dirty and stained and the rooms are disgustingly dirty and dusty. the beds are so hard and the blankets feel like sand paper. you pay for what u get here.. there is a reason […] its the cheapest hotel in bloomington. "You get what you pay for"
This was the most affordable option for coming into town for a seminar that my non-profit agency was paying for and it was close to the hotel where the seminar was being held, so that's why I picked it. The lobby looked very nice, and was updated and clean. The rest of the place, however, was dingy and smelled of smoke (the hallways especially). My […] room was clean, but the remote to the TV was broken, and when I went to the desk to get a replacement, they couldn't find one, so they gave me new batteries and it still didn't work. Also, there was no shower curtain on the bathtub/shower, and the lampshades were really dirty and stained. Fridge and appliances were clean, though. Besides being close to where I needed to go, nothing desirable about the location. Only within walking distance of a Steak and Shake and a Burger King that's attached to a gas station. I probably wouldn't stay there again, affordable or not. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"poor choice for non-smokers"
We are non-smokers. The hotel reeked of cigarette smoke. This is very undesirable for us and we would prefer a 100% no-smoking hotel. The hotel appeared to be in poor repair, however, we did hear from the desk clerk that you were remodeling the hotel in the near future. This is desperately needed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good place to stay for a reasonable price"
I have stayed at this hotel more than once. The front desk personnel were helpful and friendly. I liked having the kitchenetee available to use. Wi-fi is available for a modest one-time fee.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Value for your buck"
This hotel is not the Taj, obvously. But it exceeded our expectations. For an aged hotel, we found it to be very clean, comfortable, and safe. We faced the back, and it was extremely quiet. The statff was unbelievable; particularly Lucus. We stayed at the hotel for my daughter's college visit; if she decides to go to school in this city, we will become […] regulars. If you like Mexican food, go to Fiesta's about three miles away by the Kmart (very tasty and inexpensive). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Clean hotel, fine for parent weekend stay"
Stayed here for a parent weekend. The children had no problems with the comfort of the beds but the adults definitely felt the mattresses were uncomfortable if you have a back problem. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, the hotel was quiet and located on the main street, convenient to restaurants and the two college campuses. I would recommend […] it for a short stay. "basic accomodations, nothing more"
The carpets are pretty worn out. The tv was very small and had a twitchy picture. no shower curtain. All the room lights were a blueish CFl and made the lighting very industrial. The staff was very nice though. It's a little hard to get to the hotel- sort of back behind a gas station and a burger king even though it can be seen from the main road. A […] cheap room, nothing more. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hallways smelled something awful like something someone tried to cook. The room looked old, dingy, smelly and stained carpet. I would never go back. The extra 10-20 dollars I saved was NOT worth the sleep I lost. I felt as if the bed may have bed bugs. My skin was crawling.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice for the Price"
I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions. The staff is always helpful and courteous. I noticed this visit that the stained carpet outside elevator on 2nd floor had been cleaned since my last visit. No complaints.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Average, get what you pay for"
Although the hotel did smell a bit funny in the room and on the second floor, it was clean and decently maintained. No frills, you get what you pay for. The one thing that I didn't like was the "no wake-up calls" policy since they put alarms in the rooms. The alarms were rather sketchy, as in old and not sure if they would function.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great price! Clean & comfortable."
It was clean and very reasonably priced. Since this was just a stop over in a road trip, that's all I needed. I loved the convenience of the kitchenette. I had to go to the front desk before my shower in the morning to get a hair dryer because there was only one person on duty and she couldn't leave the desk to bring it to me. So, if you need a hair […] dryer, be advised to get it the night before. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not pet friendly after all"
08/11/14 Krisha A
Extended Stay Bloomington-normal was listed as a pet friendly hotel on the internet and they themselves charge a reasonable pet free, but you may not actually be able to get a pet room. I made a reservation 2 weeks in advance directly through the hotel and had confirmed a pet room but upon arrival they informed me that they did not have a pet room available for me. Fortunately I did not need the pet room due to finding someone to watch my dog while I was away.when I asked what they would have done if I did bring my pet the front desk person reported she would have still given me the regular room and I could have had my dog in there. This is disconcerting since some people have allergies to animals so that is why "pet friendly" hotels have specific rooms that are just for people who have pets with them.
"Should not be a two star on Priceline!!"
07/19/14 cleib604 Janesville, Wisconsin
The staff was nice but the whole place just seem dirty. I think they are remodeling so things might get better. One night was ok but I wouldn't want to be there more than that. Remember to bring own shampoo!!
Not a horrible experience. It worked for a decent place to stay for a night. Nothing bad stood out. Didn't get to see if they had a breakfast or not, so I don't know if it was good or not. Staff seemed friendly. Rooms weren't dirty

The staff had attitude, the blankets were hard, the room smelled funny and there were No bathroom supplies. I almost forgot... the entrance is in the back so I had to drive an extra miles on the highway to turn around to try and find the entrance.
"Great staff and service"
03/25/14 Bea H Salem, Illinois
We have stayed at this hotel three different times and every time is a good experience. The beds are comfortable, slightly on the firm side but not uncomfortably firm like other extended stays we have stayed at. The hotel staff are always pleasant and helpful. The rooms aren't as updated as other extended stays but they are clean and updated somewhat with flat screen and nice linens. Will stay there again.
"Needs new beds"
03/17/14 Sabrina H Anna, Illinois
I was pleased with the location and the look of the hotel but as far as the room I was not really impressed. I would recommend that there needs to be some updates to the rooms, the beds need new mattresses, my husband I lost a lot of sleep and were in a lot of pain because the bed was hard and there was no comfort with the bed. The refrigerator was leaking water on the inside and could use probably use a new one. The bath and shower had little to no water pressure. There was no hair dryer in the bathroom, and to get one you had to sign it out at the front desk, which they do not tell you about at check in.
"Friendly staff, but bed bug found"
11/19/13 Joe T Wausau, Wisconsin
I'll start with the good. The staff is very friendly. The common areas of the hotel look nice for the price. And the rooms are pretty nice looking, but... We found a bed bug (which we took a photo to later confirm) crawling on my pillow and that is inexcusable.
"Would not recommend"
10/08/13 William_Faller Aurora, Colorado
I have stayed here twice in the past month and my first stay (3 days) went off just fine with no problems at all. Was greeted nicely and wasn't bothered while staying here. However, my 2nd visit about 2 weeks later (for another 3 days) was pretty awful. I was greeted by a different woman who talked my ear off and tried to get me to sign up for a $3 a day cleaning fee even though I would only be there for 3 days. I was then told I would be staying in a handicapped (I am not handicapped) room since all their other rooms were filled, which is fine and doesn't bother me. However, I was also told at the same time that if someone handicapped came into the hotel and needed the room I would be kicked out which would , and i quote "Suck for you. But it's ok, that rarely happens," Although the woman muttered it under her breath. Really awful. If you are gonna threaten to kick me out at least say it out loud instead of mumbling it under your breath. Also, I discovered during my stay that this was the time they were going to clean out all the air conditioning units in the rooms. Now, I was never intentionally woken up by this, but starting at 7am the noise from them working on other rooms was too loud for me to get any sleep, then upon going to my car to drive to where I needed to go I was confronted by a woman who was part of the A/C maintenance and basically told that they wished I had moved my car earlier. She asked me for my room number and said "Oh, we were looking for you since we needed this spot." Was never even offered a discount or even offered an apology for any of this. Will never stay here again. I am currently booking a hotel for another stay in Bloomington and it will definitely not be at the Extended Stay America.
"Better than expected!"
09/28/13 EO7777777 Alsip, Illinois, United States
Let me just say that before I checked into this hotel, I had been searching heavily for hotels at the last minute! I went from hotel to hotel online and found bad reviews for many hotels. I came across Bloomington, IL's Extended Stay America on Travelocity.com and found that this was the cheapest and best-reviewed hotel, but I was still skeptical. Nevertheless, I went ahead and reserved a room. My experience at this hotel EXCEEDED my expectations! First of all, the woman at the front desk was EXTREMELY helpful and respectful! She is certainly a first-class guest service representative! She made adequate eye contact with me, spoke in a calm tone, and offered help when necessary. My room was cleaner than I expected too! I didn't even expect to have a kitchen! The ONLY disturbance was that I found a stain on the bedsheet, but it was only on one side of the bed so I wasn't too disappointed. Overall, I recommend that EVERYONE should stay at this hotel if they want an affordable, friendly experience. I just hope that the employees make sure that they thoroughly clean their bedsheets.
