The morning of my checkout I went out to start my car and the battery was dead. I went to the front desk and the manager Margarite was working and she was able to get jumper cables from another guest and came out to jump my car. After a few minutes the car finally started and I was on my way. She was super helpful and friendly exactly when I needed […] it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Passable-But Not for Germophobes"
Staff was very helpful and polite; no complaints there. Good internet service, nice, full-size fridge and microwave, stove were all handy. But room had a mildewy odor, and the carpet was filthy. Bedding smelled damp, and blanket was torn and thread-bare. I really hate having to post a review like this, but as a former business road warrior, this establishment […] left a lot to be desired. Had there been accommodations available elsewhere, I would not have stayed here. This place needs updating, new carpeting and new linens. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"for the cost, service & accomodations: not good"
Room was clean but not great, coffee maker leaked when used and only 1 packet of coffee supplied. Good supply of bath towels and kitchen supplies overall. Staff made billing error, and came to my room at 10:30pm night before check out stating I had not paid for that day and needed to come down and pay for that "extra" night. I informed the staff person […] that I had paid until the next day, showed her my Expedia receipt from my iPad. She stated, "I'm only telling you what I've been told". I politely told her, she should return to whoever told her, and tell them they are incorrect and to review their records again. A week later I reviewed my credit card bill and found they had charged my card, without my authorization, for several nights! Thankfully, they did review their records and credited my card before I paid it. Very disorganized. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Overpriced for the experience!"
Overpriced for the condition and experience. The only reason we stayed here was because a friend already had a room there. Would not stay again - there are PLENTY of hundred dollar rooms out there in better condition with better amenities.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Left early on Extended Stay"
We were sorely disappointed by the lack of cleanliness in our room. The hotel was outdated, smelled musty and I laid awake all night after feeling something crawl over me. We left one night early without any form of compensation. Thoroughly grossed out and will never stay at any Extended Stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ok for one night"
Beds and bathroom were clean but carpet and chair could use a good cleaning. Overall not bad but if your used to a little nicer hotel you will be disappointed. Furniture is worn and rooms could use a little TLC.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Extended Stay America Bloomington - Normal Jennifer - Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay. I am so happy that you found your room to be clean and comfortable. Still, since we strive to provide guests with all the comforts of home, I am disappointed to hear that you saw different items in your room were in need of repair. In response, our maintenance staff is working to making the necessary updates to ensure our rooms are in top-notch condition moving forward. We continually work to improve our hotel, so I really appreciate you providing us with your feedback. We hope that you will give us the opportunity to provide you with a better stay the next time you're in the area.
When we walked in we were accused of breaking their door. The downstairs is painted nice, but once we got to floor two it was quite a bit shadier. It took 35 minutes to check in although we were the only ones there, and the person checking us in was rude. There was no bathroom available during the checkin process and we had just driven for 5 hours. […] I would definitely not recommend this experience to anyone. The room itself was fine. Response by Extended Stay America Bloomington - Normal The feedback provided in your review is much appreciated. I am sorry that an employee accused you of breaking into the hotel. I can assure you, as this hotel's Manager, I know you did not and have spoken with this team member about their actions. As well, I apologize for the length of your check-in process. This has been addressed as well. Thank you for your comments about the lobby and your room. We hope you will give us another chance and stay with us again in the future.
Good value for a very basic hotel. Clean. Full kitchen does not include an oven and very few kitchen items for cooking. Efficient staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Watch Out For The Noise Levels"
Great staff that are friendly and helpful. Could use an overhang in front for better loading/unloading of your car (especially in bad weather)? The room was okay but ours had the loudest bathroom fan and loudest toilet flushing I've ever heard. Definitely need to get that resolved.Genuine Expedia guest review
I was not impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel elevator or hallways when I arrived at the hotel. It looked like the elevator had not been swept or hallways had not been vacuumed in days. That caused me to inspect my room with intensity. I am already paranoid because i once worked in a hotel and know what the standards of clean are so for the […] first thing to see is a dirty elevator and hallway turned me off to extended stay. And when my TV repeatedly lost sound the front desk instructed me to unplug it and plug it back in and let them know what happened. Margarita was great! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Outdated, yet clean."
It was a nice clean room, however it was much smaller than it appeared. It was hard manuevering around the bathroom door and very tiny kitchen area. Pretty well outdated and there were absolutely no frills. For example, I would think they would at least leave some dish soap under the sink. You could get it at the front desk, but would be nice to have […] at least one packet handy already. The location was superb however for where I needed to be. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"What a major disappointment."
Room was dirty, furniture was dirty. The carpet just outside our door looked like someone was shot there. Didnt provide blowdryer or enough shampoo. The bathroom floor was extremely slippery. TV was little and remote worked only half the time. Gave one packet of coffee for 2 people for 2 days. Coffee maker said it was 4 cups. We got 2. Bed was like […] a block of cement. "SUCK NEEDS A MAKEOVER"
THIS PLACE IS A DUMP! THEY LOBBY LOOKS ALL NICE RIGHT WHEN YOU COME IN BUT ONCE YOU GET OFF THE ELIVATOR ITS LIKE YOU WALKED INTO A DIFF HOTEL. THE HALLWAY CARPET HAD SPOTS ALL OVER AND IT WAS SO SICK I HAD TO CARRY MY STUFF B/C I DIDNT WANT MY BAGS TO TOUCH THAT SICK CARPET. ROOMS ARE OUTDATED AND ARE NOT LIKE WHAT THEY SHOW IN THE PICS. THE TV WAS […] THE SMALLEST THING IVE EVER SEEN AND IT WAS ABOUT 15 YEARS OLD. NO FLAT SCREEN LIKE SHOWN. THE SHEETS HAD SOMETHING YELLOW ALL OVER THEM AND HAD TO GO DOWN AND GET NEW ONES. LOOKED ALMOST LIKE SOMEONE WENT TO THE BATHROOM IN THE BED AND THEN THEY JUST LEFT IT. ALL TOGETHER I WOULD PAY MORE TO SAY AT A CLEAN HOTEL AND NOT A DUMP LIKE THIS ONE! "Nice, clean, roomy"
The room was nice and clean with plenty of room. Only 2 pillows were provided and I would have liked a third. The sink was in the bathroom but I prefer it outside so that both of us could get dressed in the morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't stay here!"
Checked in and was overwhelmed by the smell of cigarette smoke when we entered our room as it was supposed to be non smoking. There were ashes on the table and the bed was like sleeping on a cardboard box. The highlight was when my 13 year daughter found a dirty old mans sock in her bed . hotel is in bad shape. the hotel is very deceiving. the outside of the hotel is nice and up kept, the hotel lobby is nice and upkept and then when you head to ur room, the rugs are dirty and stained and the rooms are disgustingly dirty and dusty. the beds are so hard and the blankets feel like sand paper. you pay for what u get here.. there is a reason […] its the cheapest hotel in bloomington. "You get what you pay for"
This was the most affordable option for coming into town for a seminar that my non-profit agency was paying for and it was close to the hotel where the seminar was being held, so that's why I picked it. The lobby looked very nice, and was updated and clean. The rest of the place, however, was dingy and smelled of smoke (the hallways especially). My […] room was clean, but the remote to the TV was broken, and when I went to the desk to get a replacement, they couldn't find one, so they gave me new batteries and it still didn't work. Also, there was no shower curtain on the bathtub/shower, and the lampshades were really dirty and stained. Fridge and appliances were clean, though. Besides being close to where I needed to go, nothing desirable about the location. Only within walking distance of a Steak and Shake and a Burger King that's attached to a gas station. I probably wouldn't stay there again, affordable or not. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"poor choice for non-smokers"
We are non-smokers. The hotel reeked of cigarette smoke. This is very undesirable for us and we would prefer a 100% no-smoking hotel. The hotel appeared to be in poor repair, however, we did hear from the desk clerk that you were remodeling the hotel in the near future. This is desperately needed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good place to stay for a reasonable price"
I have stayed at this hotel more than once. The front desk personnel were helpful and friendly. I liked having the kitchenetee available to use. Wi-fi is available for a modest one-time fee.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Value for your buck"
This hotel is not the Taj, obvously. But it exceeded our expectations. For an aged hotel, we found it to be very clean, comfortable, and safe. We faced the back, and it was extremely quiet. The statff was unbelievable; particularly Lucus. We stayed at the hotel for my daughter's college visit; if she decides to go to school in this city, we will become […] regulars. "Not What i was thinking"
10/21/14 Will J Thunder Bay
We arrived and did not get the room promised as they do not book rooms they only book for the type of bed we required, so we were told once we arrived. Had to ask for the coffee maker, the toaster, the dish soap (which don't forget to ask for the plug for the sink). Very disappointing since all the other hotels we had booked went without a hitch. Will not EVER stay in this type of hotel again.
Many of you probably read my review previously posted- over a year ago. It was a very positive review at the time. Since then I have traveled for my work all over the country and even into the Alaskan frozen tundra. I have stayed at places where a hazmat suit was proper attire to sleep in some of the beds I had to sleep in. Lets just say that I can write a book on traveler's horror stories when it comes to hotels. So here I am back in Bloomington-Normal this time for a year. When I stopped by to make my reservation, the staff remembered me. And my room is a corner room which is very nice and comfortable. They have since put in new carpeting in the hallways and everything is clean and well maintained. I had a small maintenance issue on checking in- which was quickly fixed. The front desk staff has been very friendly and outgoing- I don't detect any attitudes or problems. And- I have slept very very well. There isn't any noise and everything is as advertised. Since I am staying long term the staff worked out a plan where I get a discounted rate that can not be beat by any other place in town. And I can pay weekly. Since my company checks don't come the same day every time the staff allowed me to pay by the day if necessary until my big payroll check arrives. That really helps the budget! But their willingness to do this just underscores what they are all about (as they advertise): they are passionate about their customers and really care about them. It really shows. I feel like I have come back home after all... what better endorsement for this place than to actually choose to stay here again. True- no pool or hot tub. But there is a big fitness place across the street that gives nice discounts to guests. And one is only a few minutes from a large selection of restaurants ranging from fast food to elegant and the ever popular all you can eat buffets. Keep up the good work and thanks for making me feel like Im "home again."
"I enjoyed my stay here"

My mother and I stayed here for a week recently, I did not have a bad experience at this hotel. The refrigerator wasn't working at first and when I reported it someone came up right away and got it working. My mother is a very hard to please person and she said she would stay here again. We loved the coffee. Friendly staff.
I recently had a conference and a meeting following the conference in Normal. I waited to long to get a room at the conference hotel, so I asked for another Marriot in the area and was directed to this location. At first I was concerned about the distance between this hotel and the conference hotel which was in downtown Normal, but it was a very quick and easy trip back and forth. Had a great room which was nicely appointed, great kitchen, nice bath fixtures, very clean and comfortable.

Stayed here on business trip for 2 days. Could not wait to leave. Room was very dull. Small kitchen was dirty. Front desk person was very dull, unemotional. I could smell smoke everywhere I went. Terrible breakfast options and had to drive a few miles to get breakfast food. Woke up the 2nd day with the Bloomingdale fire department in the parking lot. I would hesitate to stay at any extended stays after this experience.

My friend and me stayed here for a night and I was extremely glad to get out asap! WHAT WORKS: 1. Free parking and wi-fi. 2. A small kitchen with sink, microwave oven, fridge and silver ware. WHAT DOESN'T WORK: 1. Not friendly front desk team. 2. Stuffy room. 3. Expensive for the price paid. 4. Complimentary breakfast is a Take away breakfast comprises of cupcakes, bars, coffee. No continental spread. VERDICT: Stay only if all the other hotels are booked and you are left with no other option.
"Reservation Schmeservation! Aka: you can't always get what you want."
09/01/14 Sgenseke Streator, Illinois
I reserved a smoking, king suite. I didn't want to stay in this hotel, but when I made my reservations it was one of the few hotels that offered smoking rooms. I paid 1/3 more $$$ to get this room than a room in the hotel that I preferred, but my Boyfriend smoker so it was worth it to me. I spent all of 5 minutes with staff, they were nice. The hotel was clean, the rooms were newly remodeled. That being said... I was told upon arrival that they actually DON'T HAVE SMOKING ROOMS. SURPRISE! Also, our room was a queen, not a king. So my Boyfriend had to constantly go all the way downstairs and outside to smoke...wow nothing says "relaxing night out of town" like him being inconvenienced and me feeling like a moron because I was the one who booked the stupid room! After having been in the hotel for 5 mins I had said aloud. "I'm unhappy, I made a reservation for no reason." Also, it said under "amenities" HAIR DRYER. I didn't pack one... they didn't have one. Also... no coffee pot, yayyyyy! So we had to run to the lobby every time we wanted some, and we're very early risers, and that was A Lot (I guess it came in handy since he was running out through the lobby to smoke anyways?) P.S. the bathroom door neither latched nor locked. If you don't offer smoking rooms, a coffeepot, or hair dryers... then please tell Expedia that. Talk about false advertising, I would have rather spent $40 to stay in a similarly amenity-barren hotel.
"Not pet friendly after all"
08/11/14 Krisha A
Extended Stay Bloomington-normal was listed as a pet friendly hotel on the internet and they themselves charge a reasonable pet free, but you may not actually be able to get a pet room. I made a reservation 2 weeks in advance directly through the hotel and had confirmed a pet room but upon arrival they informed me that they did not have a pet room available for me. Fortunately I did not need the pet room due to finding someone to watch my dog while I was away.when I asked what they would have done if I did bring my pet the front desk person reported she would have still given me the regular room and I could have had my dog in there. This is disconcerting since some people have allergies to animals so that is why "pet friendly" hotels have specific rooms that are just for people who have pets with them.

The staff was nice but the whole place just seem dirty. I think they are remodeling so things might get better. One night was ok but I wouldn't want to be there more than that. Remember to bring own shampoo!!
Not a horrible experience. It worked for a decent place to stay for a night. Nothing bad stood out. Didn't get to see if they had a breakfast or not, so I don't know if it was good or not. Staff seemed friendly. Rooms weren't dirty
