The rooms were very nice, and the staff was very helpful. Everything was good. The only criticism would be all the breakfast options were all carbs. Different fruits &/or yogurt would have been a significant upgrade. We would recommend the place.

Hotel was clean and well maintained. Surrounding downtown neighborhood might be a little sketchy; but I never felt in danger or concerned. Rate was good. Only weakness was the wireless Internet - moved extremely slow and was not useable for things like Facebook..

Dismal area... We stayed here on the weekend and had to pay a rediculous amount for the room....for some unknown reason everything is always sold out on the weekend in this area. The room was small and out dated but clean...our queen size bed was no more than a full .....the redeeming quality was the included breakfast. I wouldn't really have a major […] complaint because you get what you kinda expect from a two star motel but we paid a three plus hotel price but when nothing else is available it was something we had to suck up. We stayed at the Americinn over the Memorial Weekend. We booked here as it was a last minute trip and we wanted to stay near Duluth as we were going to the Aquarium and other Canal Park attractions. It was a bit of a drive from Duluth, but not too bad. The rooms have been recently renovated with new carpet, modern furniture, paint, linens, etc. It is […] a great improvement. They have really tried to freshen up the property. We had fun with the kids in the pool and the next morning, we woke up to a great hot breakfast. Choose from Belgian Waffles, biscuits and gravy, cereals, donuts, assorted danish, muffins and fresh fruit, juice and coffee. Not bad for FREE! Everyone was very nice but the hotel was dingy and did not look or smell clean/ Found long black hair in shower and on bathroom floor.Room smelled and felt dirty. Toilet ran continually, sink faucet leaked. door didn't close on it's own. Yard looked overgrown especially the back by the picnic tables. Cleaning crew needs training. Left several websites […] that will teach them how to properly clean a bathroom. I really wish I could give this hotel a perfect 5, but they lost it with old linens. They seemed cleaned but were yellowed and stained. The rooms where very quiet and comfortable, and the staff made you feel like family. Perhaps they should have spent the money on new linens instead of new flat screen TV's.

I have stayed in several of your hotels and had always been pleased with my stay. This particular hotel room was very small and didn't appear to be as clean as others. The sink in the bathroom didn't drain which made the entire bathroom feel unclean.

The hotel was very nice. The major issue was that from aprox. 9pm - 5am there was no running water through out the hotel. You could not shower, flush the toliet, or even wash your hands. When I asked the staff about the problem they said it was being taken care of with real lack of concern. This was very disappointing. I found out later the issue is […] due to the fact they have well water and it takes a long time to refill the tanks when emptied. The customer service was wonderful. However the housekeeping was bad. The sheets were not clean. Blood stained. There was a plunger in the bathroom that had fecies still on it from another guest. We liked everything but those two things.

We attended a 40th wedding anniversary and needed to spend the night in Cloquet/Carlton. The hotel was right off the freeway and very convenient to the Black Bear Casino - which had no rooms available. The room was spacious and clean although a few of the towels were old and yellowing. The front desk clerk was friendly and efficient. The free breakfast […] was very limited with no fresh fruit or peanut butter for the toast. The waffles are always a hit and were ready to go when we arrived for breakfast. Price was high for the quality of hotel. Landscape needs some freshening up and grass should be cut. This place was nice. Nothing special, just nice. We stayed here as it is close to Jay Cooke State Park. The free breakfast was excellent. Our only complaint was the pool. Even though it was supposed to be adults only after 10p.m. there were a couple families there with small, loud children. Also, the adults were drinking beer, which I had no problem […] with as I had a cocktail myself. The thing is, they were drinking out of glass bottles. It would only take one "oops" to render the area unusable due to shattered glass. I think considering you have to walk by the front desk to get to the pool that this could be monitored better. The room was so small that the tall closet type dresser was right up against the bed and bugged me while I was sleeping. On Saturday when they tidied our room, they did not leave us any facecloths.
