The Reef Resort - East End

Great resort if you are looking to get away and unplug for a few days. It is on the other side of the island from the airport and Georgetown, so renting a car is recommended, but not necessary as the hotel has shuttles to town daily as well as to stingray city. The food we ate at the bistro was fantastic, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. […] There is a grocery store, souvenir shop and an Italian restaurant across the street, and the highly rated Australian restaurant Tukka is a few minutes drive down the road. There are some hidden gem restaurants nearby as well. Also, all the rooms face the ocean, so you dont have to worry about your room getting downgraded or anything. I would say the Reef was well worth the price, even with the drive and no free wifi, and could have easily charged more for the room. We will be back again! Read more

Our family and another family stayed at The Reef Resort last week and completely enjoyed our stay. The hotel/resort was clean and comfortable. The resort is 35-40 minutes from the airport but the location can't be beat. If you plan on snorleling, this location is perfect. The water from just west of Morritt's all the way to The Reef Resort is great. […] This location is not over populated so if you are looking for a large resort with restaurant after restaurant and crowded beaches, this is not the place for you. Here, you will have plenty of beach space, a couple of restaurants (reef and morrits) as well as a few local restaurants to choose from (Tukka, Over the Edge, Kurts Korner, Lighthouse). Great Resort to just relax and get away from it all. The East End of the island is very quiet. The rooms all face the ocean which is BEAUTIFUL. Price of food and drinks is a bit steep but that seemed to be through out the entire island not just at the resort. All in all a great vacation spot, we would go back again.

Minor complaints about the hotel: room has a 19" tv in it. it is located on the other end of the island so expect a 30-40 min drive when you go into town but the plus with that is you avoid all of the cruise people and get peace a quiet, its also only 10 mins to Rum Point. If I go back to Grand Cayman I plan on staying here again.

The hotel was great. Being on the east end is challenging unless you really just want to stay at the hotel. This end of the island is very breezy. I would not have let my children go into the water there because of the waves and undertoe. The size of the room was great and would easily fit a family of 4. I purchased my stay six months before my trip and the Internet access was 'complimentary'. It was not complimentary when I arrived and they were imposing a $30 fee. I did not get the whole product that I purchased. The location is just as windy as other reviews I've read. I drove 45 minutes each night to walk on another beach (Rum Point). It gets windy […] and the sand whips you in the face and eyes. It's uncomfortable. Waters--not for swimming. Majority of the water has a riptide. There's a small stretch where I saw people swimming. We used another beach (mostly Rum Point). There's trash and the occasional piece of glass on the beach around the channel. If you want to walk on the beach, there will be mornings where it is 1) windy and 2) you keep you're shoes on because of the things you see on the beach. The hotel was what I expected when I arrived, however it was located on the far East side of Grand Caymen. This was not indicated in the hotel description when I booked. It took over 45 min to get to the hotel and cost over $100 in taxi ride. We would have needed to rent a car to get to almost all activities. I have 4 boys and needed to be closer to restaurants and activities. The hotel charged me 3 nights which I thought was excessive considering they were not booked. This is the best hotel if you want to refresh and escape from all the noises. You can have everything to enjoy the beautiful sea, such as activities, pools and the nice beach side bar. However, it's really far from the George town, so if you want to go shopping or want to see Seven miles beach, you need a car and must drive 45 minutes.

First, as the island is known - they are friendly. The Reef resort constantly is cleaning and maintaining the site. Every morning starting around 6:00 guys are raking the seeweed by hand. They up brushing of sand from roofs. We arrive during unusually strong winds reportedly from a squall. Lot's to say about this wonderful and peaceful place.

This hotel is a huge value in Grand Cayman. My room was first floor, with an unobstructed view of the sea, jacuzzi tub, king sized bed, and small kitchenette. I was so very impressed with the quiet tranquility of the property, which was the luck of my choice of travel time-- off season. Read the other reviews, they're all accurate in that this place is not the Ritz Carlton on 7 mile beach, but then again, the prices are nowhere near as expensive as RC. The room was immaculately clean, air conditioner and ceiling fans worked very well, and just 100 feet from my sliding glass door was the beautiful sea. Snorkeling just off the shore, no more than 30 feet I saw lobster, flounders, and lots of sea grass where little reef fish were swimming about. The restaurant offered typical Cayman fare and were comparably priced to other hotel restaurants. Right up the street, within 2 miles were some very nice restaurants, not to mention an on-site Subway, and Fosters Express mini supermarket. The main downside of the hotel is the restaurant, which is at best robust and not very ambitious. Modest value for money. The wine list is a disaster, containing only nondescript […] "Merlot" and "Chardonnay" served in disposable polyethylene cups. A clear opportunity for the owners to upgrade the patrons' experience at minimal cost and effort. I would have given it a five if the owners had been more focused on the culinary part of the stay. Beautiful location. Clean resort and rooms. Amenities I am used to even at a chain hotel (Holiday Inn or Best Western), were not available onsite. From coffee for the in room coffe maker to sunscreen, a local paper, even bottled water. All requests received the same answer. "It's available across the street at the shopping center."
