Plantation Hale Suites - Kapaa

Does not have all the other luxuries of a resort hotel, but for the price its a great place to sleep. Large and comfortable rooms, perfect for a family of 4.

Everyone was friendly. We were able to check in early and also move to a different room when we requested. Some of their rooms have been refurbished and have a nicer feel to them. It is a nice location, able to walk to the beach and along the coast. I would stay their again.

stayed here on 4/26/13 only stayed two nights and that was enough the rooms look clean at first glance but are in fact dirty on closer inspections. We stayed in the non-smoking room but our room had an over powering smell of smoke/smoking. All in all spend a little more bucks and stay somewhere cleaner. Would not stay here again

The staff on site is more than helpful. Very good location, close to everything and easy access. The room was not really clean : sticky sofa and chairs, bathroom sink and bath were cracked and stained. We found cockroaches and a huge spider in the room. The cottage we stayed in was cute. Clean and simple with all the comforts of home. The wifi would not work for us and the television volume was wonky but the simple stuff was all there. We had our own rooster to keep us company. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. The beach is a bit windy and not for swimming but the pool is nice. 1. You cannot beat the price - especially for Kauai. We spent our first 8 days in an exclusive resort in Princeville for our honeymoon, but moved to Plantation Hale for a more social environment for the last two days and enjoyed our time at this hotel as much as we did at the resort. 2. The rooms had just been modernized. So, they were, bigger, cleaner […] and more stylish than we had expected. We were expecting bare bones for the price. 3. The location is convenient for shopping, dining and Wailua activities. 4. The staff was great and recommended the perfect places to eat and drink on campus. Don't miss Trees Lounge! 5. We made no use of the pools or jacuzzis, but many did. There was a social element to the hotel with BBQs and gatherings. We did make use of our outdoor patio and kitchen. We never even turned on the TV. 6. For the first time on the island we did not have to drive all day, so we appreciated the easy parking. There is also close access to airport. For those who are used to clean, quality, affordable hotels...this is the place for you. Plantation Hale is old.... The walls are thin, mattresses thinner, and the furniture is worn out. The hotel fronts Kuhio highway which can be noisy. Our unit faced Coconut Plantation shopping center and Kuhio highway, so it was even noisier. Lots of slamming doors in the exterior hallways. Convenient location for travel up north or to the west. In the middle of the shopping area and restaurants. Older hotel with convenient kitchen. It is an economy hotel so don't expect too many high end amenities. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Not directly on the beach but a short walk (100 yards).

My Boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 nights. We had a great time and really enjoyed having a full kitchen. We upgraded to a pool view room which had a pretty view and was good because we were farther from the main road so our room was nice and quiet. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The unit was very comfortable. The only drawback is that it is close to the main road, so you can hear the traffic. On the other hand, it is close to shopping and restaurants. There is a fantastic restaurant nearby - Bobby V's Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria.

The hotel is being renovated, I Unfortunately did not get a newly renovated room, If your interested in new furniture and so forth ask for a renovated room its a little more, Everything else was wounderfull the kitchen was clean and the staff are freindly and treat you with smiles. All in a budget priced room and local. Verry happy.

BE AWARE: WiFi and Parking are not "free" as advertised! We were charged a $40 fee upon check in. REVIEW: We knew what we were getting into based on previous reviews. The hotel is perfectly adequate in terms of amenities. The pluses include air conditioning, overall cleanliness and location. Room also had a nice new flat screen TV and DVD player, which is nice for relaxing with at the end of a hot day at the beach. However, it is obvious that the hotel needs some updating. For the most part the kitchen was fine (microwave, good refrigerator, decent enough supplies, etc.). However, the stove was a bit dodgy -- looks like it was probably an original stove when the hotel was built. The hotel is close to the beach and has some nice pools (not very large, but decent) and hot tubs for those people who want to lounge at the pool with kids. Property lacked on-site food or beverage. Had to cross the street to another property to have a meal. The morning front desk does not open until 7:00 am. While I waited for the person to show up I noticed a paper sitting on the chair out front. As I was reading the paper the desk person showed up and informed me that that it wasn't my newspaper and […] I need to give it to her. She took the paper, walked around and unlocked the doors and proceeded to put it on her desk with the drink she brought to work. That's when I realized that it was HER morning opening routine I had inadvertently messed with. All the six (6) of us wanted to do was to return the pool towels and pool keys (a separate $100.00 required deposit) before we left the property. Our stay was pleasant and certainly lived up to my expectations. The staff was helpful when needed, but unobtrusive. Our condo was well stocked with dishes, glassware, etc. The bed was comfortable, we had two nice TVs and the deck was cerainly adequate.

Good: The room and kitchen were nice. The location was good. It was close to a beach (we went to other beaches to swim). The suite was nicely furnished and clean. There was ample room for two of us. There were enough dishes in the kitchen for eating and drinking. Annoying: The closet door had come off its track. Maintenance came right away and fixed […] it (but they should have noticed and fixed before we checked in). There are no pot holders, baking sheets/pans for the oven. There is an activities desk, but it was never staffed when we went by. Housekeeping came into the room even though we put the "do not disturb" sign on the door. Bad: Check out day we had a morning boat tour and an evening flight, we asked for late checkout. [Regular checkout is 12-noon, late checkout is 1pm with no charge, or 3pm with a charge but only if no one will be checking into your room. There is no hospitality suite for taking showers later in the day.] We were not allowed 3pm, so we had to check out at 6am. There was no one around! We tried calling the "after hours emergency number" and got voice mail! We tried a couple other phone numbers before we found a live person. After 20+ minutes of trying to find someone, we left our pool key and pool towels (both of which are signed out) in our room and left a message. Conclusion: Good place, nice location, OK pool, access to a beach (not for swimming). We may stay there again if we go back, but will plan better for lack-of-service the day of check-out. Read more
