"Excellent base to explore greater Miami"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
Hotel staff very friendly. nice lobby, good breakfast with fresh fruits and no plastic dishes. After complaining about the size of suite we were sold for 5 persons (definitely too small and not a fair sale) we were given complimentary upgrade to a two bed room suite by the manager which was very much appreciated. Free parking and free wireless internet are very convenient as well as close access to highway and airport.

Pockets of nature thrive in South Fort Lauderdale. The Anne Kolb Nature Center in West Lake Park is a haven for fish, reptiles, and birds. Across the Intracoastal Waterway, sea turtles nest at John U. Lloyd State Beach Park, favored by locals for picnics and recreation. The Seminole tribe operates a zoo at the Native Village. There, visitors can see alligators and the endangered Florida panther.
see all hotels in Hollywood"they will charge you $10 fee at front desk"
everything was fine... we bought the room on Hotels.com then when we go to the hotel they charged us another $10 for a resort fee....we didn't know anything about this until we showed up. This was not stated anywhere when we paid on hotels.com so it really wasn't as good of a deal as we thought.
"Great location but very old hotel"
The location was perfect to enjoy the beaches and boardwalk but the room and hotel smelled aweful and needs updating.
"Old hotel, no charm"
If you're looking for a nice hotel on the beach... this ain't it. The room was clean, but the hotel is old, and the hallways smell musty and smoky.
"Close to the beach and boardwalk"
The hotel is a remodeled older hotel built in the 1920's. The hotel was very clean and adjoins the boardwalk and is a stones throw from the beach. It's location is in the middle of everything beach related. Signage leading to the hotels entrance and parking garage are very limited. A GPS will bring you to the door however you will play trial and errot […] finding the entrance. If you are looking for a clean centrally located hotel with shops, the boardwalk and a attached bar, O'malleys (Very nice) you are in luck. A 4 star seafood restaurant, Billy's Seafood Restaurant is a block away with seating right on the intercoastal. The staff was very helpful and polite. Good nights stay for a low price. Read more
"Pretty Old Hotel. Ocean view means ocean view."
Our "ocean view" was in room 472 overlooking the roof of lower rooms. Oh we could see the ocean, but not exactly a romantic ocean view.
Overall very good except that there were some costs I didn't expect( daily resort tax, parking)
"Holywood-Florida"
TheRoom was to rinky-dinky-shower leaked out unto the hall-way, Television was to small, no lounge area to sit and watch TV,and get to sit with other visitors, no In-Hotel Bar...It wasn;t that great of a stay...

"Great Location!"
I was apprehenisve to stay at the Hollywould Beach Resort after reading some negative reviews, however when I got there I was pleasantly surprised! The hotel was built in the 1920's so it has the older art deco feel. However, the rooms have all been updated. I stayed in the petite studio and it came with a mini kitchen with stove, microwave, granite […] counter tops, and a mini fridge. There was also a pull out couch, and a table for 2. Very comfortable. My biggest complaint would be the lack of counter space in the bathroom, however there was a medicine cabinet, and the walls are thin. I could hear whole conversations from the people next door and from the maids in the hallway. So if you are a light sleeper I would recommend bringing ear plugs. The hotel is positioned right on the beach which was great! There is also a boardwalk with shops, restaurants, and bars right behind the hotel on the beach. It was nice to walk up and down, after dinner. Overall I would definately stay here again and would recommend it! Read more

"Nice hotel with awesome location!!!"
We loved our stay at the Hollywood Beach Resort. It is right on the Hollywood Boardwalk and the beach is right there! My daughters actually loved the pool better than the beach. The hotel is older but is remodeled and has some nice antique pictures. Hotel also has security guards so you feel safe always and free airport shuttle.

"So bad, we left early"
DO NOT stay at this hotel unless you want peeling paint, missing tiles, dingy floors, and cigarette smell on every floor. Not to mention all the add-ons. By the time you pay $18 per day for parking, $10 per day for a "resort fee" (what is THAT about?) and $15 per day for a rollaway bed because the bed is too small, you really add up. Breakfast is not […] included. Seems like the ownership is trying to squeeze every dime out of this property. Lots of deferred maintenance. Yuck. Run, and run fast! Read more
"Hollywood Beach Resort, been going there..."
for years and even though its not new and loaded w/ the pampering ammenities avail. at newer places I've probably brought close to 20 people there over the years an always had nothing but positive experiences fot the most part, and any problems were always rectified quickly. Upon my most recent visit (1/28/12), I found out that they had been aquired […] by S G Resorts International, which at first didn't alarm me because this had happened a few times. Eventually though I found out that they got rid of the awsome breakfast cook who made eggs at your request for a few dollars more than the free continental breakfast that was always complimentary. That was one of my favorite parts of waking up there and he has been replaced by a sign promoting the new high standard S G Resorts n breakfast sucked and my hardworking talented cook had been dismissed. Then I went to the pool and the staff I had enjoyed for years were all gone as well! When I questioned this, the new guy said he didn't know why but they r all new employees! The only familiar face was that of the awesome concierge and the bar staff at O'Malley's featuring Randy on the dayshift and Louie at night. If not for them and the fact that the bar is privately owned I would have been truely heartbroken! The new staff was very kind and accomodating. They let us check out late (1pm) at no charge, and gave us a temp pass after that so we could still use gym n pool all day! I think they still have to work out the kinks but as long as Randy is at O'Malley's I will b there 2x a yr at least, but am also writing a letter to voice my opions good and bad. It's truely a hidden gem n I love the history of this historic building! Hopeing it not only sticks around but is returned to its former 1920's glory! Read more

"Not terrible, but not terrific"
the photos on the website are not at all what the hotel appears to be... The rooms look like they were renovated in the early 90's with the choice of decor. We had a "non smoking" room, but could smell cigarette smoke through the ventilation system... which, was very offensive, our clothing in our luggage smelled like cigarettes after we left. Dined […] at O'Malley's, which was outrageously overpriced! We had an entertaining driver that picked us up from the airport and took us to the cruise port.. the Hotel is basically in a mall, and there are security guards at the hotel entrance, where you swipe your card to get into. So, that was reassuring. The beach was beautiful, and the boardwalk was nice. Luckily, we only had to stay there one night. Read more
"Good times @ Hollywood Beach Hotel"
Great staff....loved the service. O'Malley's Ocean Beach Pub was a fun place. There was businesses that had everything we didn't pack. And, it was great to have transportation direct to the cruise ship. The minus was the the continental breakfast which fell short of good and was just medocre at best.

"Hollywood Beach Resort"
It was awesome...romantic..great restauraunts, nightlife, and beautiful views. Perfect way to end he Christmas holiday. I will certainly be back!!
"Weird smells"
There is such a powerful smell of something chemical every where you go I can't help but think they are covering up real, bad odors. The windows were so dirty it was hard to see the ocean. But the location is fabulous.
"great location--mediocre facility"
great walking--the ocean boardwalk and restaurants on the inland waterway. room was clean but noisy and with a TV right in front of the window. inexpensive but poor quality.
"John the Conceierge was exceptionally helpful"
John the conceierge was very informative and helpful in all ways to accommodate our needs and questions. He made our transfer to the ship easy and timely. Thanks to John for all of his help. The hotel's location was perfect for shopping and on the beach restaurants and fun things to do. Would select your hotel again.

"Renovated Room"
We enjoyed our stay at the resort very well. Our rm was a renovated room georgeous wood and stianless Steel. Beautifull!! However, the toliet commode was extremely low. Low toliets have all washed away. No rails so one had to hold to get down and hold to get up.
"Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port"
We stayed in a suite with an ocean view and it was great! The room was clean and included everything we needed for a 3 day stay. We arrived early so our room wasn't available but the desk gave us a pass for the pool and exercise room. The broadwalk was out the door and downtown was close and fun to walk around. We would definitely stay there again. […] The staff were exceptional. Read more

"Hollywood Location"
When I pulled up Hotel online, it looked really nice. Then when I got their it was a very old hotel and nothing like the AD. The room was very small, not clean, no soap, no shampoo, I had to call down to get those things for my room. There were little flying nats in my room. The only reason I did not check out when I saw the room was due to having to […] pay in advance online. The breakfast consisted of toast and juice in a vacant restraunt upstairs. Vallet handed me the keys and told me to get my car. Never again will I stay here on my business trips. Read more
"What they don't tell you !"
It started when we docked in Ft. Lauderdale. Called the hotel for transportation to hotel. Was informed they take passengers to the ship but not from the ship to the hotel. Parking was $18 a day for rent a car. At check in we were informed we had to pay an extra $10 a day for hotel resort fee. The next morning we went for the continental breakfast, […] was told we had to get a voucher from check in. We were told that since we booked a mini suit there was no breakfast included but we could buy a voucher for $6.95 each. The whole experience was a Total Rip Off. If you stay at Hollywood Beach Resort in Hollywood, FL. CHECK ALL THE FINE PRINT Read more
The hotel itself was great, however we were not told ahead of time that we needed a card to have breakfast until we had gotten in the dining room. The maid service was excellent. Overall it was a good experience.
"Hotel with great views, right on the Beach!!!"
Stayed to days here and was very pleased with the value and location. Staff was very pleasent and helpful. Able to rent bikes in hotel lobby, which was a plus. Ocean front Bar and Mall right on primises. No it's not a 4 or 5 star Hotel but for the price it was all anyone needs (so I think). A little noisey at night after all the bars shut down but really […] did not bother me. I felt real safe with their 24 hour Security. Only draw back was the price for parking, however being from Chicago I was pretty used to that. I give it 2 thumbs up!! Read more

The hotel is old and the room we got was very small but it was clean. The people that worked their tried to help. However we had to pay a Cab to get their as their free shuttle was broken and they charge a $10.00 fee for pool and stuff which we could not use.

"Never go there"
I was threatened at time of check out!! The guy was banging on the door yelling at me to leave the room. Very scary neighborhood!! Very dirty..

"Great Location"
This hotel is in the heart of Hollywood Beach and has lots of history. We had a nice stay and would stay again. All though the hotel is older they have modernized it as best they can. The staff was pleasent and helpful.
"Hollywood Resort"
Pool under construction never have the chance to use it. Closed to the beach.
"very dissapointed"
You guys need to make it clear to customers about the $10 Per day service fee rather than put it in the fine prints and catch ppl at check out timeI was planning on booking 15 rooms for miami carnival band but not anymore.

Been coming here since I lived here in the '90's, not for everyone, but Randy, Eddie Lou, Ray n Boomer(get wellsoon!) at OMalley's beach bar/restaurant, and awesome pool staff n concierge, keep me coming back. Grand hotel built in the 1920's, most rooms renovated w kitchens. Lacks late nite food n room service, but u can get that at Flickerlite.
