"3rd stay at this hotel, good location"
Very nice hotel and very pleasant staff! This is the 3rd time I've stayed here with improvements every time. They really work on it! Staff is so pleasant you are really happy you stayed at the Waikiki Sunset. Everything is within walking distance even some fine dining .Of course a tour of Pearl Harbor and a luau are de riguer. The concierge is on site […] and helpful. The view to the beautiful mountains day or night makes lanai dining or just drinks quite special. The long trip from the east coast of US is wearing, more than 24 hours this time. I always enjoy the diversity of visitors to Hawaii. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A Great Stay, as Always"
We have stayed at Waikiki Sunset many times and we always have a great experience. The staff is friendly and always accommodating. The rooms are always immaculate and so convenient with a full kitchen. We were on the 30th floor that had a great view. Sunset is our favorite hotel whether we're on Oahu for a staycation or business.Genuine Expedia guest review
A comfortable hotel but a bit tired for the the price. Long ish waits for the elevators.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great place to stay!"
Very clean, new appliances in room, great service, great on site parking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel close to the beach"
This was a very comfortable and clean hotel within 2 blocks from the beach. We had a beautiful view of the lights on the mountains in the evening. The room was spacious and very nice amenities. On top of it all, the rate was considerably cheaper than many of the other hotels in the area!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Aston Waikiki Sunset Hotel"
The view was awesome from the 29th floor! We felt like we were on a white cloud, lying in bed, looking down on Honolulu! It was great to see Diamond Head Mountain surrounded in her majesty. The hotel was clean, affordable, and kitchen we had was great for preparing light meals. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would choose to stay there again as […] it was walking distance to Waikiki Beach and shopping. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quiet but not far from Main Street and Waikiki"
2 min to convenience store and 5 min to beach. Meeting points for most of optional tour also 2 min. However it was not noisy at all, so great to stay for long time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It's my second visit to Hawaii. Great hotel, close to beach. Highly recommended !!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great place with bad closet space and design."
Overall everything is nice exception to the closet. The closet has sliding door. one of the TV and a dresser are in the closet in the room with twin beds. So it you want to pick out clothes, you will slide the door the other side, blocking the TV.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location - close to all you need"
Hotel was located very close to downtown which grants you access to the local eat-outs, shopping and the waterfront. Diamond Head in the background was an awesome backdrop for pics, and sunrise/sunset views. The rooms come with a kitchen so for any supplies you can shop at ABC stores (similar to a 7-11 store). The staff is a little jaded I think - they […] probably see so many tourists come through that they're a little tired. But overall professional and helpful. The rooms are well maintained, have great amenities and are spacious for families. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"great location and good price"
Though the hotel doesn't look like much on the outside, the hotel room is very nice. It is only 2 blocks from the beach, so it is a great location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"just out of the bustling traffic"
Though my room, a 1 bedroom king with kitchen, needs a little "facelift", everything was in top working condition and clean. The sitting area was very spacious, as was the bathroom. The bedroom was a little crowded and would have been better suited for a queen bed vs. the king. The kitchen had everything I needed which was important as I prefer to make […] my meals to eating out. The staff were always very helpful and housekeeping helpful and friendly. Location of hotel was a couple of blocks from the main strip of Waikiki. For me, this is great as I'd rather not have to deal with constant foot traffic every time I leave the hotel. There was also minimum vehicle traffic. Though, in spite of the lack of traffic in that area, the noise of Waikiki make sleep more difficult with windows open; but that is Waikiki in general and you will get that anywhere you there. The hotel is good overall. The only issue we had was that when we opened the door to our room, there was this moldy smell so overpowering we had to hold our breath for several seconds. I think the carpet needs to be replaced, and kitchen needs to be cleaned out (especially the drawers.)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, close to the beach."

"OK, but definitely in need of a revamp"
The Aston Waikiki Sunset is conveniently located, otherwise I would say it is overpriced. We stayed in a two bedroom condo on the 8th floor. Housekeeping service is kept at a minimum (i.e. beds are made and towels refreshed). Bedding was sparse but clean. There is no dishwasher in the kitchen, so be prepared to do a lot of dish washing by hand (as housekeeping […] doesn't touch the kitchen), particularly since the supply of pots and pans in our unit was very limited for a family of four. Furniture showed signs of wear and tear (scratched dresser, stained dining room chair cushions), otherwise the unit was clean. The reception area also looks fatigued and not very appealing. The pool is in the back on the north side so by late morning the sun is gone. Overall I would probably rate this a 2.5 star facility rather than the advertised 3 stars. "Decent Hotel....Would be good for small family"
Went with my wife to a friends destination wedding from the east coast. We didn't want to go out to eat every single meal so we picked this place knowing we could at least cook simple food for breakfast.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Affordable for location"
I thought the hotel overall was clean, spacious for the money, and the location was good. You get what you paid for....overall we had a good experience. If we were going to stay in that area again, and want to save money.....we would return to the Aston Waikiki Sunset.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice hotel ,walking distance to everything"
The check in was very quick , it was wonderful staying in a condo with the kitchen.. 4 blocks from the Pantry Grocery store. and 2 blocks from my favorite beach. Very comfortable accomodations and it is wonderful having full kitchen facilities. The staff was very helpful, the cleaning staff did a good job, having the room cleaned everyday was nice. […] We also, noticed that they cleaned pool daily and the BBQ grills were well cleaned and maintained. The amenities fee is a total waste of $ unless you like to pay $15.00 a day for a newspaper, because that is about all you get for it. The DVDs are old and not up to date and who plays video games when you are in Hawaii. Our room was in good condition everything worked. and it was very quiet, we also, had a beautiful view of the mountains and lots of lights at night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is good to stay when visit Hawaii. The kitchen supplied all our needs. The room has good view. I took a lot of picture at sunrise.Genuine Expedia guest review
Not luxurious but clean and worth the price. At the end of our stay, the staff let us use the pool during the afternoon, event if we had to check out at noon. There are showers and a changing room. It was very convenient for us to be able to stay there all afternoon.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Old hotel, 2 blocks from the beach"
My deluxe Ocean View room had a building in front of our room on the 26th floor, partial ocean view, not the promised view. Front desk was not helpful, said we're full, that's all you get! Carpet was stained. A/C was Smithsonian, with minimal ventilation. Phones had PULSE dialing, now that says it all! Charged $15 RESORT fee per day, & $15 parking fees […] daily. "could of stayed somewhere better"
when we came our room was ready, one of staff lady started helping out with some documents and while we sat down to look over and sign she started helping another people. and when we finished I came to the desk and had to wait like 5 minutes until she finished talking about random stuff with another person. so the staff guy asked me what I'm waiting […] and I said I got all finished I just need my keys the lady turned to us and said "she just can wait for me" but excuse me we had a long flight and I wanna get to my room and not wait till she finishes talking! During our second day at this hotel we got back from the beach at closer to 4pm and the room was still Not clean! I went down to the receptionist to remind them about housekeeping and the said they'll tell them, and house keeping finishes at 5. And if I didn't remind them they wouldn't even come??! apperantly their cleaning was to remove garbage and put some coffee and couple of shower towels (and of course they made a bed). of course I went down and told them that we are not satisfied with our stay that we have to remind them to send housekeeping staff, not get half of the towels, dirty and non-vacumed floors! The next day we got to our room at 3pm and surprisingly everything was clean!! The resort fee you pay is for coffee and newsletter and WiFi. well the WiFi is amazingly slow, newsletter we didn't even use them then what's the point?! and coffee was pretty nasty! positive stuff about the rooms is of course the Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This is a very comfortable hotel and the bathroom was clean with plenty of towels and other amenities. There is an extra charge for WIFI and DVD's, even if you don't use the service. The beach is about 3 blocks away, as are the restaurants. There is a parking garage, but there is also an extra charge for this.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel at a great price"
Stayed for 5 nights in a deluxe 1 bedroom with ocean view and balcony. Thought the view was great for the price and being 2 blocks away from the ocean. Room was comfortable and cleaned up good every day by housekeeping. No problems with the stay at all.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location! Perfect for our family."
Located in a great location. Walked to beach and restaurants everyday. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. We couldn't do late checkout because hotel was fully booked, but the hotel gave us a special key to use for the pool area so we could clean up before heading to the airport!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Extremely poor maintenance and service"
We were looking for a hotel room with a kitchen facility and this was the only hotel that we could find in the Waikiki area. Our experience was nothing short of horrible. This is a poor maintained hotel with old and foul smelling carpets. The room are very small and the service is practically non-existent. I guess by the virtue of its sheer location […] (i.e. close to the Waikiki beach), it seems to be always full and a bit too crowded. I am never going back there. Hotel is in a very nice location but the condition of it seems old, outdated and without good maintenance. Will most likely not stay there again. I was disappointed to learn that the business center charge for computer/printer use.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Elevators a bit slow. Good location- close to the beach.Genuine Expedia guest review
When I checked in, the room was not what I requested, but the filled the reservation and accommodated me for a small daily amount, which was unexpected, but worth it! Very clean and comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Peaceful but crowded"
The elevators were exceedingly slow - not enough for the building. We overlooked the tennis courts and swimming pool, which made it pleasant to eat on the lanai. The kitchen was very good with the right utensils. It is in the quieter part of Waikiki. Parking was ample, and reasonably priced. At night it was quiet - which is rare in Waikiki.Genuine Expedia guest review
We were greeted warmly and were able to keep our luggage secure there until our room was ready. Easy walk to Waikiki Beach. Clean rooms.Genuine Expedia guest review
"overall it was a good exprience"
we enjoyed our stay and the staff was very helpful in changing our room once we arrived as we were a party of four but there was only 1 king size bed and a double pull out couch which was the most uncomortable bed i have ever slept in. so we asked to be moved to a room with two double beds and they moved us that day.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location & value."
We rented a one-bedroom condo for 3 of us. The bedroom was small but adequate. Sofa bed was a bit saggy. The 18th floor view towards the mountains was great and overall we were pleased the the rental.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Okay hotel for a family of 4!!!"
When I arrived at the hotel the appearance was not appealing at all.. The neighboring apartments were very shabby looking.. My biggest concern was that my room was never cleaned well... Everyday after coming back from the beach the kids would have sand in the shoes and swimming suits.. Which is to be expected, but after leaving the room and having housecleaning […] coming in and not cleaning well.. We would come back and the floors were never cleaned still covered in the sand from the night before and I had to call and have a light bulb replace that was out on the first day of arrival, I had to ask for supplies for the kitchen and the bathroom due to the fact they were never replaced when the room was cleaned.. This is just a bit much when you charge an extra $15.71 per day as a resort fee. The movies that you can rent do not and I repeat do not work... My kids were so happy to know that there was a video game in the room, but there was only 2 games and they didn't work.. I know that I will never stay here again and I feel as though the $15.71 should be optional.. I love Hawaii but I did not love Aston Sunset Resort... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good rates bring walking shoes."
It's a nice hotel overall. We had a great trip. Definitely take a Segway tour (Mike is awesome). If a clumsy person like myself can do it, anyone can. Go to Haiku Gardens for dinner. Get away from Waikiki and see the rest of the island.Genuine Expedia guest review
The room we got have beautiful ocean view! The room is very clean and quiet, the staffs are nice and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"We ask for a room over looking the Ala Wai."
Our room was on the 37th floor and the room above us was unoccupied. We had a great view of the zoo, Waikiki Shell, the Natatorium, also the ocean.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Its all relative!"
Waikiki is an expensive place. So, while this hotel seems a bit underwhelming, its probably a solid option. We spent most of our time out and about, so we really didn't focus on how cramped the space was, etc.Genuine Expedia guest review
"No-frills great value for families"
We just returned from a one-week stay here with the grandparents, hubby and I, and 9-year old daughter. One-bedroom standard on 26th floor with beautiful view of mountains/clouds/canal. We stayed here 30 years ago, and it hasn't changed much. Slow elevators, lobby nothing special, pool area basic. But it's a fantastic value for families. Grandparents […] had the bedroom, we had the sofa bed, and daughter had rollaway bed (30 bucks a night for this was an unexpected disappointment). It's close to the beach and everything else in Waikiki. Plenty of room, furniture being outdated is a good thing with kids/sand/spills. The full kitchen is fantastic and after stocking up at the Honolulu Costco for the week we were set. You will save so much money not eating out every single meal. While I highly recommend this for families, if you're a couple looking for a romantic getaway, this is not the place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
