This was my second time staying here . It’s a 15 minute walk from the main strip of hotels on Kaanapali Beach, and 30 min walk to Whalers Village (or a 5 min drive). It’s the perfect balance of being near the action but not amdist the hustle and bustle of the larger, more crowded resorts. The low-rise nature of most of the property makes it feel much […] more homey and relaxed. The staff is absolutely fantastic - the very definition of Aloha spirit. The pool is great - fountains, tiki torches, and a nice hot tub. The Castaway Cafe next to the pool is great for a quick drink, snacks, or lunch or dinner on property. There was a complimentary mai tai hour with live entertainment that was a wonderful surprise as well. The rooms are comfortable, clean and well-appointed. We love having a full kitchen! We do our own lunch and breakfast, and then dinner out at Whaler's Village or nearby Lahaina (there's a shuttle from the lobby that will take you to either location). A few other great points: 1) there's a store right off the lobby in case you need anything - sunscreen, food/drinks, etc. 2) there's a 2nd pool in the back of the property - great if the hot tub at the main pool is too crowded 3) there's a little bit of reef just off the beach a little to the right - bring your snorkel 4) there's a great shower & changing room downstairs from the lobby so you can clean up and get ready for your trip home. The resort room is clean and huge. We were at 6th floor so we have grant ocean view beyond garden through extra wide double sliding doors, even though our reservation says just garden view. We like the full kitchen which is loaded with cookware and utensils, since we feel Maui local grocery stores have more choices than restaurants and the resort even […] has gas BBQ stove and grills. We didn't have time to use the free wifi and flat screen TV much. The resort location is right at the beach. You flip-flops from your room to the sizable swimming pool, and couple more steps there is the blue ocean. Beach towels are provided and beach lounge chairs are everywhere for you to lost in the sound of wave. This portion of ocean is shadow and all sand so that you can walk into ocean pretty far but still stand up; good for those afraid of water. The neighbor beach you walk 100 feet away has deeper ocean and more color fish for snorkel but has more rocks. The snorkel gears and boogie board rental shack are conveniently located at the beach and priced reasonably. The hotel concierge activities debriefing in the morning is very informative for the first time visitors planning. I stayed the other more expensive but similar nearby resort before, so this is better for the buck, and free parking is a plus. Read more

This is my favorite place in Maui, hands down! Quiet, relaxing, low density, with a great beach and awesome snorkeling steps away. We've stayed at the Maui Kaanapali Villas for three years in a row. I really shouldn't have to say more. My wife and kids (17 and 20) love it. It's low key and the atmosphere is relaxed. This year we met people from Washington, Vancouver, Edmonton, Chicago, Sacramento, New York, and our area of Southern California. The staff is friendly and helpful. […] They now have a full-time concierge and gave a 45-minute overview of things to do while serving a continental breakfast. We didn't need the service, but a lot of guests did and found it helpful. As a treat, the staff has free mai tais (a bit strong) one afternoon a week for guests. There's also a low key restaurant/bar just off the beach and near the pool that attracts a friendly crowd each afternoon. Our room had wireless internet so we could stay connected to the outside world. It also had a full kitchen, which is good for us. We like to eat breakfast and lunch in, and then go out for dinner in Lahaina, or different restaurants on the island. In the morning, my wife and I took long walks along the beachwalk. Most days we hung out at the pool or in the hot tub, I like snorkeling and there is great snorkeling five minutes down the beach in one direction. We also walked about 15 minutes to Black Rock, but it was crowded. There are more expensive hotels in the area, with bigger swimming pools and more modern amenities. When we first arrived, I went to take a shower and there was 35+ long black hairs on the shower walls... sooo grose. The runner on the bed was wet and stained, and fake plants were very dusty. Other than the room not being very clean, the staff was friendly and stay was great.

We enjoyed our stay here at the villas. Nice for a small family getaway. Although the pool area for the children was a tad bit too cold, my son surely had fun. The room had two big beds so it was enough for my family. I was hoping for a tub but we we're okay with a shower. Just as long as my son and husband had fun, I was happy.

We were joining another couple who were staying at this hotel before and they highly recommended it. The room that we initially got almost made me cry. It was so small, outdated decor, balcony is shared with neighbors, so you couldn't even keep curtains open if you want some privacy. When we asked if we can upgrade, the front desk offered us another […] room for no additional charge. Even though decor of the room looked still old, it was a lot bigger and better then previous one. Our friend's room, who arrived few days later, looked great with beautiful upgraded kitchen and bathroom. Every room is privately owned, so you don't know what you are getting. Pictures on the website are useless as every room is different. Another complaint is that the only restaurant on the premises were closed for 2 weeks, we only got to eat there two times right before leaving. Breakfast was good, but dinner is way overpriced for the quality! We loved Maui, but next time we'll stay in different hotel. Read more

Love the MKV hotel! This is one of the best kept secrets of Kaanapali Beach. It is a great place for families or couples. Rooms are typically owner occupied then rented out so are well taken care of. Our unit, Coconut 254, had a remodeled bathroom and kitchen, which were really nice. The unit itself is uniquely situated as the lot across the street […] is empty, thus allowing an ocean view. We were originally booked in a standard hotel room but were upgraded upon arrival to a studio unit. The room was spacious and everything about the resort was fabulous. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We've stayed in many places in the islands and this is one if the best. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Maui.

the amenities are good the on-site restaurant is good the pool is great Sea Turtles just up the beach the room had nice decor compaired to the other 4 I saw The reason for so many views is because the air conditioner is more like a swamp cooler in Tucson (IT IS NOT REFRIGERATION) they only check the temp at the registers (the coolest point) and not […] out in the room it took us two days to get 3 stand fans, that helped they did take something off the room and gave us restaurant credit but it was not pleasant to deal with and they didn't believe us I didn't speak to the general manager but my room mate did and he was not so nice, the assistant manager was better there were two families that arrived after us with the same complaint the other rooms we saw were just as uncomforrtable AND the decor in one was very unpleasant and DUSTY!!!!! in one bathroom there was mold in the bathroom under the lip of a tub seat Don't go in Sept or Oct we had to keep the drapes closed to keep the setting sun heat out or the fans didn't help at all Read more

We loved our stay at the Kaanapali Villas and will certainly be returning. The front desk staff kindly accommodated our request for an updated/upgraded condo and we ended up with a beautiful suite that actually had a partial ocean view! The lanai was huge and clean with great patio furniture and the inside was very clean with newly shampooed carpets […] (a big plus for our crawling baby). The beds were very comfortable and a pack 'n' play crib was provided the whole week free of charge. The location was so close to everything and this resort had one of the three nicest pools of all the resorts along this beach (next door to the Westin and Royal Lahaina). Very quiet aside from a few rooms that were doing some renovations (but only during mid-day hours and tolerable considering they are working to improve the comfort and appeal of each condo in this resort. We were very pleased with our stay and our children loved swimming here and we all enjoyed morning breakfasts at the Castaway. My four year old was quite fond of the beach rental cabana which had sand toys to use for free and reasonable rates for snorkel gear rentals just outside the cafe too and everyone was so friendly to greet and welcome her! This location on the beach was incredible- not crowded a bit and had great sandy beach to swim with low waves plus an entire stretch of reef bottom within swimming distance of the shore just down to the right. I liked the size of the place, and that not as touristy as south of black rock. Nice pool area. Remember when you book that not all rooms will be alike since they are individually owned. There is a big difference between units and buildings.

There are so many reasons why this place is amazing ! Affordable, comfortable, clean, very welcoming and the best location on the beach ! Stores and restaurants are not far from here there are days where you don't even have to leave the resort property ! This was our twelth (12th) time staying at the Villas. We have always found that the front desk staff is friendly, helpful and prompt. Francis and Rudy at the front desk are always welcome faces when we check in. We have stayed in different rooms in both the main tower and in the smaller bungalows. We prefer the smaller bungalow's/second floor, garden […] view. Each condo we have stayed in has been clean, and decorated appropriately. We are already planning our next trip back. Definitely recommend this property as the resort is a little smaller, but you can alwasy find a chair at the beach and the beach is accessible for a swim in the ocean or a walk in the sand. We had two rooms and they were decorated and maintained differently. One was very well kept and recently renovated; the other one was avarege. We paid the same amount of money for both rooms. We had a late flight and asked for a a late check-out for 1 hour. The person at the front desk was seemingly polite but actually he was not nice. We were told […] that we could use the "hospitality shower" and there would be everything we need. So, we did our check-out at 6 am before we went on a half day snorkeling tour. When we were back we used the "hospitality shower" in which there were no towels, no shampoo etc and the hair dryer was broken. This place also charges resort fee on site, so be prepaired. If you are a smoker, you have to go to one of three designated spots. I respect that. But these spots were very dirty, filled with meal trash. Read more

My 16 year old grandson and I stayed at the Maui Villas for 10 terrific days! We were fortunate in that the studio condo we stayed in had just been recently refurbished and it resulted in a beautifully decorated unit, with a wonderful new hardwood floor throughout, and a great new bathroom, decorated with tiles and a totally new shower. The grounds […] are very well maintained, although I thought there were some areas that could use some painting. The gardens are beautiful and the pools are well equipped with chaise lounges and shade trees. The Castaway Cafe is a good place for breakfast or lunch. We did not try it for dinner. The access to the beach is easy--just a short distance from an adjacent grassy area that "fronts" the Villas. I cannot say enough good things about the hotel staff and the service we received from them. They were always friendly, accommodating and helpful. The little store in the hotel is also well stocked. The hotel is about a mile/plus from the Whaler's Village and is a good daily walk or run along the Kaanapali Beach Walk. All in all, a perfect location and accommodations. Read more

E-mailed before arrival with a request to have rooms near another couple -- never had a reply. We had a great stay at MKV! We were given a free upgrade upon arrival and our room was very nice and clean. Our studio was very roomy with an ample kitchen and bath and a great lanai. There is a really cool, laid back main courtyard with a clean, large pool, a pleasant little cafe, shuffleboard and grassy lawn with plenty of chairs and shade right on […] the beach.
