"weekend in NYC"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Great location just off of 8th and 51stW. Very close to everything we wanted to see and visit. Hotel rooms are small but clean and do the trick. If you're planning on staying in the room often or have a ton of stuff you might want bigger rooms, but otherwise this is as good as you might expect from a hotel in this range. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
"Close to airport"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We were on our way home and stayed at this hotel because it was close to the airport and it provided a free shuttle. We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and comfort of the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful and even provided us with a morning snack as our flight left very early. The only negative was that the hotel did not have a restaurant and there did not appear to be any restaurants in the area. We had to walk to another hotel fairly close by for supper.

"Fantastic pick for a shopping trip!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
This being my first trip to NYC, I wasn't sure where to even begin looking for hotels. My friends and I were looking for a nice hotel, with a good price point, in a central part of town. Wow did we ever pick the right choice with the Hilton on 35th. The check in process was quick and easy, and the service was fantastic. The employee's remembered us by name for the whole weekend, and provided excellent recommendations on restaurants and shopping locations. Speaking of shopping; what a fantastic area! There was shopping in any direction, lots of food, and right next to the subway if you want to take a hop to any other areas. The room itself was nice; nothing outrageous, but very clean and large for a hotel room in NYC. We were three people and there was plenty of room for our luggage and room to move around. We would 100% go back!

Let the West Coast have Hollywood; Broadway’s lights are just as bright, and many screen actors come to the Great White Way to gain acting credibility. Area attractions include Carnegie Hall, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and the Museum of Modern Art. Resplendent St. Patrick’s Cathedral takes up a block at Fifth and 50th. Once seedy, Times Square now hosts ABC, MTV, and NASDAQ.

We booked this hotel through hotels.com about a week before going to NY. The "deal" was not as good as some other hotels but the location was great...near Times Square. My husband and I were travelling with our 19 year old son and requested a room with 2 double beds. This was confirmed. When we checked in were told they didn't have any free double rooms […] and they had make up a "day bed' for my son in a room with a Queen bed. I pulled out my confirmation and they responded that there must have been a miscommunication with the booking company. Given booking systems and my confirmation I do not believe this....They offered to move us on day 2 or 3 of our 5 day stay but by then we were unpacked . We were not happy with this. The room was nice, staff were nice, location was amazing and they bring warm baked cookies to your room around 6:00 - although only 2 even though there were 3 of us in the room. Read more
"Great location"
The petit room is tiny but if you are planning to know the city instead stay at the hotel the great location make it worth it.

"Tiny, tiny, tiny"
I have stayed in a lot of NY hotels and even by those standards, the room is tiny! Not even a regular size double bed - I'm only 5'7" (170cm) and my feet hung over the end!!!
"Wonderful Stay in July of 2011"
We stayed in this hotel from July 18 to the 23rd. and we would definately stay here again upon returning to New York city. The room was quiet, cozy and just very comfortable. The staff were more than friendly and even called right away since we had forgotten our passports in the room's safe. I would give this hotel a 5 out of 5 and the restaurant downstairs […] called db french cuisine was absolutely fantastic and not too expensive either.... all in all we would highly recommend Cityclub hotel for your vacation jaunt in New York city.... "Club City Hotel - Only request is for better beds"
Great hotel, great staff, perfect location, beautiful rooms/bathrooms...only problem were the terrible beds that they try to hide with cheap featherbed covers.
"CITY CLUB HOTEL, NEW YORK"
We enjoyed our week in this hotel, albeit we weren't there very much other than to sleep. We received an upgrade to king size bed after only booking a double bed as that was all that was available. That was a nice start to our stay. The hotel staff were alway welcoming on our return and the warm chocolate chip cookie with the bed turn down service was […] always appreciated. The rooms were a bit on the small side, but the location was excellent to start exploring New York. We love our coffee so the Gregorys coffee across the road was always welcome for breakfast. Probably the best coffee we had in New York. For position and price, I don't think you can beat it. Read more
"City Club Hotel"
A warm and friendly, quiet, intimate hotel. Easy walking distance to Times Square and overall very central location.
"Perfect location"
Perfect location for a night away. Excellent rate, friendly staff.
"City Club Hotel"
Great location; petite rooms were very small. Almost uncomfortably small. Other than that, the hotel is very nice, staff is good and helpful.
"City Club Hotel in NYC - perfect location"
The City Club Hotel in NYC is in the perfect location which makes it easy to get to 5th Avenue or ATime Square. Great hotel, friendly staff and very clean.
"City Club Hotel - Great loacation, great comfort!"
After a bad experience with another hotel the City Club was a fantastic experience. The location is fantastic - only two short blocks from Times Square and three to Grand Central Station. The room was very comfortable and quiet! The turndown service and cookies were welcome after a late night on the town!
"Personal and Professional"

"Small but FABULOUS!"
If you are used to New York small spaces and are okay with that, as I am, then you will love the quality you get from this hotel! Frette robes, nice toiletries, free wi-fi for ALL your devices, and the turn-down service with hot, gourmet cookies is NOT to missed!

"Great !"
Stayed for 1 one night only negative according to my husband was a strong smell of bug spray (I had a cold so I didn't smell it) but he said it was very strong. Everything else was very nice. Location/cleanliness/size of room/ etc.
Good location, excellent restaurant in the hotel. Nice room w/refrigerator.
"Awesome hotel!"
Upon arriving we were told that we had been upgraded to the king luxe suite. The staff was very friendly and even dropped off two cookies along with the breakfasts menu about 10 minutes after we got to our room. The room was extremely clean and neat. The location was awesome, only two blocks down from the heart of Times Square; we could even see some […] of the lights from off our balcony. All in all it was an awesome hotel, well worth the money and we would defining stay again. Read more

The area is really nice, minutes from Times Square and even closer to Bryant park which is great. The petite room is indeed petite, with not even decent closet space. The hotel staff was nice. If you are a smoker though, this should be a top pick for you, they have smoking rooms with great ventilation, so even after smoking in the room it was still […] pretty smoke free. Read more

"Great Find!"
Stylishly modern, compact room adequate for overnight business stay. Hotel is mid-block and I had a room on the side without a view. Attractive shades covered the windows and since stay was just overnight, it was not a negative for me. Very clean. Bathroom was big, beautiful and nicely accessorized. For overnight stays, I would definitely book here […] again. Read more

"Only for sleeping"
If you come into NY from Grand Central, the City Club Hotel is convenient. Rooms are very small. Bathrooms are nice. This is a bare bones hotel. The lighting is grim--none in the hallways, little on the second floor lounge, so the feeling in the hallways is kind of creepy. The front desk staff and doormen etc. are personable, but this hotel is good […] only for sleeping and spending as little time as possible in the room. No luggage rack, tiny closet with your clothes dangling over the bags of potato chips. Cheap for NY but then again still expensive for such a no-frills op. Windows open--a big plus and a comfortable bed and sheets. Read more

Sugest that Handrails be put into Shower Stall for Convenience & Safety Reasons. Addition of a Stool for placing of a Suitcase would be an additional enhancement. Otherwise excellent small Hotel and well worth to be recommended. Enjoyed our stay.
"City Club Hotel in NYC"
Amazing room. Beautiful bathroom. Bangin' mini bar. The walls are a little thin, I could hear people in the hallway at night. Overall it was lovely.
"City Club Hotel"
The rooms are very small, even for a boutique hotel. The bathroom smelled like urine. Due to construction on the street outside, the water was cut off without notice. The manager was apologetic, but offered no incentive for me to return, and did not respond to follow-up emails. Absolutely not worth the 4 star rating. The chocolate chip cookie was delicious, […] but it doesn't make up for the other problems encountered while staying here. Read more
"City Club Hotel - Neat and Cozy"
Great stay, very comfortable beds, no street noise, very spacious bathroom, stylish decor. Only downsides were the dark hallways with the wood floors - can easily see having some noise issues on weekends. Stayed on a weeknight though and no issues at all. Very comfortable, relaxing stay!
"Good location, good price, small space"
I was traveling for work and found this hotel, marking my first stay at City Club. The property had many good points: Very little outside noise in room Very clean property Very attentive staff Room rate that made my employer happy My negative was the size of the room. I was traveling alone, and chose the smallest room option. I'm a frequent traveler […] to NYC and know that rooms can be tiny but this beat everything. College dormitories are bigger. The door opened onto the bedroom which was just that - a room with a bed. There was also a built in bookshelf for things, and a half closet to hang clothes (hope they weren't long, though, as they'd drag on the fridge and mini bar that were hidden in there.) No desk, no chair. No luggage rack. Sleeping 12-inches from the A/C vent was a little disconcerting. Bathroom had no counterspace to put hairbrush, etc. The next room size up was considerably more dollars, and for that I'd stay at a property with larger rooms that was closer to the main area of midtown. The staff was terrific. Internet access was free. The hotel restaurant is very nice, if a little pricey, but there's a good diner 2 doors down for cheaper eats. The property was very clean. For those traveling on a budget who don't mind shoe-box size accomodations, I'd recommend this property. Otherwise, spend the $20 extra per night and stay at the Hyatt or Hilton. Read more
This hotel felt really luxurious. We didn't want to be in a huge skyscraper hotel. It was the perfect ambiance. It is two blocks from the middle of busy Times Square, but it was so quiet and peaceful that it was really relaxing.
"Business Trip"
Hotel was close to my meetings and very close to subway and train stations. The room was small but the bathroom was huge. Best bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel. The staff was very friendly.

"city club new york a bit worn but convenient"
mattresses were shot, and there had been a beer spill at some point that left an old "frat house" aroma around the room. staff was friendly and location was very convenient. but for the hype of a boutique hotel, I'd pass unless on a special deal (which this stay was).

"Lovely time"
I only stayed for one night, but they upgraded my room and treated us very well. Also having the ability to order room service from DB and have my breakfast in bed was quite lovely. Highly recommend City Club Hotel.

"very nice"
Loved our stay nice room, not that we were in it alot.Bed was VERY Nice...
"City Club Hotel"
While the Hotel was in a great place ajacent to Times Square, the couple 3 doors down from our room was fighting several nights in a row. After the second night of fighting we called the Hotel Manager - who really didn't do anything but knock on their door. Other than that, it's a great Hotel and so close to Times Square-we loved it.
