Viceroy Riviera Maya - Playa del Carmen

We enjoyed our stayed. Very private individual bungalows. Very hospitable staff. Wifi was VERY inconsistent. No wifi at the pool, outdoor restaurant, or beach which was unfortunate because my husband had planned to work. We had a meal plan which I would recommend. The food was not the highlight of the trip for me. Excellent breakfast.

Second year in a row! Fantastic! We left one night to meet friends for diner...other than that there was no reason to leave. Very peaceful and quiet....just what we needed.

From the minute we stepped out of our cab at the Viceroy, the amazing service began. We were greeted and taken on a tour of the lovely grounds and all amenities were explained to us. The hotel occupies a sliver of jungle in between larger and less refined hotels. We didn't spend much time in our room (an older palapa) but it was comfortable. You'll […] spend all your time on the beach being pampered by the staff in the shade of a cabana or by the pool. We ate all of our meals at the outdoor restaurant or in our cabana at the beach. The service was amazing. Everybody working at this place is 100% focused on making happy guests. We left feeling like we'd made good friends with many of the staff. We had a truly WONDERFUL time at this hotel. Much different than the larger hotels...this hotel is intimate, peaceful and extremely relaxing. The food was one of our favorite parts...each and every meal was 5 star quality or better. Utterly delicious and they served true delicacies. The service was also impecable. We originally had a garden suite...but […] after seeing the ocean front suite, we decided to upgrade. IT WAS WELL WORTH IT! The gardn suites are very much in the jungle so it's hotter and much more mosquitos. The ocean front suite was one of the nicest suites I've even staying in. Viceroy Riviera Maya was a great experience, with a lovely beachfront and excellent staff. While our first room had a malfunctioning pool they promptly upgraded us to a higher level room to compsenate. We stayed in room 37. The walk to our room was disappointing as compared to the rest of the resort in that as you pass there is an unsightly area that needs to be addressed...very unkept and trashy. Every night we were kept awake by people I suppose in the hotel across the way that approximates room 37. On our 3 day I was awakened by a centipede that […] stung me as I brushed him out of my bed and a spider dining on my back and hand at 4:30 am. I really didn't sleep much after that. Housekeeping did come the next morning and shake out everything and we were told they fumigated the outside of the building. This hotel is very isolated. It is a $40 taxi ride round trip to Playa Del Carmen for dinner so most people stay on site and dine. The restaurant La Marea was closed for renovations during part of our stay so we had to dine either in our room or in the pool area where it was very windy and rained on us. For an upscale hotel I think they should have a more comfortable place to eat. The food is also very expensive and usually cold when it's served . This is not do to the service person ...they try ,but they are forced to carry it a fair distance from the kitchen to this very windy area. This place is beautiful but so are many others. Read more

GORGEOUS HOTEL, VERY PRIVATE, THE CLEANING SERVICE IS AMAZING. THE MENU COULD HAVE CHANGED UP MORE. WE GOT TIRED OF THE SAME MENU BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER. WE WOULD ORDER SOMETIMES THE SAME THING FOR BREAKFAST OR LUNCH, AND IT WOULD BE FIXED DIFFERENT EVERY TIME, YOU DIDNT KNOW WHAT YOU WOULD GET, IT WOULD DEPEND OF THE WAITER, ON HOW HE INTERPERTED […] IT. THE WAIT STAFF WAS GREAT. THEY PAMPER YOU VERY MUCH, I GOT A HOT STONE MASSAGE AND IT WAS THE BEST I EVER HAD. I ALSO HAD A FACIAL, AND IT WAS OK, I THOUGHT IT WAS OVER PRICED FOR A FACIAL. I LOVE THE HEATED POOL. WE WOULD LIKE A BIGGER BOUTIQUE, THIS ONE WAS VERY TINY, MORE THAN 1 OR 2 PEOPLE THE MOST COULD FIT IN THERE. ALSO, IT WOULD BE NICE IF THERE WERE A BIGGER LOBBY AREA THAT WAS INCLOSED. I WILL SAY MR. CORONA WAS VERY HELPFUL, HE WAS WONDERFUL. THEY WERE DOING CONSTRUCTION WHEN WE WENT, IT WAS VERY NOISEY. We were pleasantly surprised the hotel exceeded our expectations. We were greeted with warm towels to freshen up & coconut water with a slight lemon taste. We went around the hotel for a tour, which ended in our air conditioned, screened, clean, luxurious Cabanas. Private enough to enjoy the tropical outdoor shower. We can't say enough about the service and we rate it AAA. Personalized and respectful. Anything you want or don't want, they will make it happen. Staff doesn't treat you like just another guest. They go out their way to address you by your name from first to last day. Great for relaxing, anniversary, and romance. Don't miss out on Friday night "Dinner on the Beach" (really romantic and you don't have to plan for it)We had the all inclusive package and if it is within budget, we strongly recommend. Exquisite cuisine with great variety from Mexican-Mayan to International. It is surprisingly delicious for a hotel kitchen. We will be back!!!! Read more

My wife and I had a great experience at the Tides. The villas are wonderful, quaint, comfortable, and secluded. This is a great place to get away to a quiet, relaxing respite. The food was outstanding, but it was pricey. There were not a lot of dining options, but this was okay with us. The fitness facility was actually outdoors (but covered), which […] was kind of neat but also very hot. Not a dealbreaker by any means, just be aware. Service was incredible; with only 30 rooms, not a ton of people around, and one-on-one service is great. We spent a week in Mexico, and 3 nights were at Tides, 4 at another resort. This was a really neat place to stay, very different from the other resorts. Not a ton of on-site activities, so I felt like 3 nights was a good duration to stay there. Overall a fantastic resort. 허니문으로 다녀왔어요...가는 동안엔 잘못선택했나 겁도 많이 나고 했습니다. 리조트초입입구도 좁고 허름해 ... 큰일났다 싶었지요 근데,,,반전..........리조트안쪽엔 자연친화적인 풍경과 안락함..... 그리고 정말 친절했던 오스카....지금도 잊지않고 가는호텔마다 비교합니다. ㅋㅋ 서비스도 좋았고 리조트안에도 럭셔리하구,,, 리조트앞쪽 바다풍경은 정말 그림입니다. 보고있어도 이게 그림인지 실제인지 헷갈릴정도지요 아무튼 너무 좋았습니다.

Un lugar único con una atención personalizada admirable. Para quien busca un lugar exclusivo, privado, con excelentes comodidades, es el Viceroy. Para volver. Sólo la playa en ese lugar de la Riviera tiene muchas piedras, pero el muelle del hotel resuelve el inconveniente pues uno puede bajar al mar desde allí.

Très beau cadre, très calme, très propre et bien mieux que la plupart des hôtels proches ( trop grands ou très très "cheap", les alentours sont en effet loin d'être luxueux) mais pas plus de 5 jours ( ou bien prévoir des excursions "hors de prix" à rajouter à la prestation hôtelière et au repas non compris) . Il faut aimer s'isoler dans une chambre […] en pleine "jungle" sans vue mer ni lumière du jour, et ne pas craindre de se baigner dans les rochers( nous préférons la plage de sable blanc de Tulum!). Cuisine qui se veut "raffinée" mais très chère pour des rations limitées. Service : très serviable mais on comprend pourquoi 4 étoiles et pas 5. Read more
