"weekend in NYC"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Great location just off of 8th and 51stW. Very close to everything we wanted to see and visit. Hotel rooms are small but clean and do the trick. If you're planning on staying in the room often or have a ton of stuff you might want bigger rooms, but otherwise this is as good as you might expect from a hotel in this range. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
"Close to airport"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We were on our way home and stayed at this hotel because it was close to the airport and it provided a free shuttle. We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and comfort of the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful and even provided us with a morning snack as our flight left very early. The only negative was that the hotel did not have a restaurant and there did not appear to be any restaurants in the area. We had to walk to another hotel fairly close by for supper.

"Fantastic pick for a shopping trip!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
This being my first trip to NYC, I wasn't sure where to even begin looking for hotels. My friends and I were looking for a nice hotel, with a good price point, in a central part of town. Wow did we ever pick the right choice with the Hilton on 35th. The check in process was quick and easy, and the service was fantastic. The employee's remembered us by name for the whole weekend, and provided excellent recommendations on restaurants and shopping locations. Speaking of shopping; what a fantastic area! There was shopping in any direction, lots of food, and right next to the subway if you want to take a hop to any other areas. The room itself was nice; nothing outrageous, but very clean and large for a hotel room in NYC. We were three people and there was plenty of room for our luggage and room to move around. We would 100% go back!

"Meadowlands Hotel - Great Value"
Staff was very accomodating and shuttle service to bus stops made it very convenient/inexpensive to travel into Manhattan. Breakfast included was excellent. Bit of a walk from the bus stop if past shuttle times though.
"Meadowlands Plaza"
Breakfast is THE SAME thing everyday. Other than that, it's a clean and comfortable hotel.

"Meadowlands Plaza - Pretty good value"
We were visiting the area for a Jets game, a Mets game, a day trip to Hoboken, and a few days of touring NYC. We were able to get the free shuttle (somewhat reliable, make sure it's available when you need it) to the train station, then go into Penn Station NY each day and tour around. Quick drive to Metlife stadium and Izod Center, although public […] transit from there may take a while. Took about 10 mins to the station, 15 mins to NY, and then at night we took the train back and a cab home, as the shuttle ends at 10pm. Once you figure out the transit, being in Secaucus isn't an obstacle, given the better prices compared to in NYC. Room was pretty clean, and had what we needed. Shower worked fine each day, and free hot breakfast was a plus to get each day started off. Free parking at the hotel is also great, as many I looked up had a cost. Free wifi worked fine, although it wasn't real fast (bringing an ethernet cable and plugging in might help that). Only real issue was construction starting fairly early, but was possible to sleep through it for heavier sleepers. Staff was friendly enough, but not exactly the most outgoing I've seen. I would stay there again if I was in the area, although would price out some NYC places as well, since the 2 of us spent about $40 per day on transit to and from the city. Read more
"Good, value for money way to stay close to NYC"
Lovely hotel with great breakfast. Shuttle bus to station worked well ( most times). We were in NY city within 45 minutes of leaving the hotel ( train cost about $25 for a family of four). Beds very firm. Area felt safe. No guest laundry on site, but will shuttle to laundromat.
"Good value, approx half hour in to Manhattan"
Staff helpful & friendly. Courtesy shuttle to bus stop (then jitney or NJ bus to NYPA) or rail (to Penn Stn); else $10 taxi, no shuttle after 10 pm. Included breakfast buffet of substantial quantity but limited choice. Other meals - eat in Manhattan or hotel's restu or close-by Wendys, Italian fancy restu, Dunkin, okay MiddleEast cafe, delivery Chinese. Skip […] the Outlet Mall - few bargains. Read more

"Great value for visiting NYC"
When we made the reservation we specified a non-smoking room but were given a smoking one. After complaining at the reception they changed our room, but the smell coming out of the AC unit was foul. We just turned it off and opened the window, problem solved. Everything else was good, the room was clean and spacious. The complimentary breakfast was […] excellent, complimentary Wi-Fi and parking a big plus. Best of all was the location, really hard to beat if you are visiting NYC but don't want to spend a fortune on a bedbug infested hotel room. Read more

"Terrific value in the NYC area"
If you're looking for an affordable place to stay in the NYC area this is your place. Free parking, free breakfast buffet, free shuttle to the bus to take you into the city - this place has it all. Room was very clean, staff were helpful, A/C worked well (it was over 100 outside). I would heartily recommend this high value hotel and would stay there […] again myself. Read more

"Fairly close to convention center"
I loved the hotel. They had very courteous shuttle drivers. It was a long walk to bus stop 192 and convention center. The restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced. Ron from Brasil

"Meadowlands Plaza Hotel - would highly recommend!"
I stayed at the Meadowlands Plaza Hotel for MangaNEXT 2012. The price was VERY right, and you couldn't ask for a friendlier staff! The mattresses were ROCK hard, so I didn't sleep very well, however every other aspect of the hotel made me forgive this. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the free breakfast buffet was quite yummy ( good idea with […] the vouchers! ), the cleaning staff did a FANTASTIC job cleaning up our room every single day ( thank you for the chocolates! ), the water pressure in the shower was top notch, totally free internet, free use of hotel laptops so you can access Netflix in your room ( seems that the hotel KNOWS that their limited selection of tv stations stinks, especially if you're not a sports fan of any sort, so the free offer of Netflix is VERY nice ), and the location is great! If you don't want to eat at the hotel, there are TONS of food places within walking distance, plus a small liquor store ( the liquor store closes at NINE on weekdays, which kind of shocked me, since most others close at 10 ). Soda machines and working ice machines on every floor, which is a plus, and simple one cup coffee makers in each room. It's not a big and uber fancy hotel, it's an old building, but with the renovations going on, you can tell that they are trying to upgrade as much as possible. Don't go in expecting the Ritz, it's not the Ritz by any means, it's a hotel meant for staying at overnight and doing something else elsewhere during the day, but aside from those rock mattresses, it's a fantastic hotel! I will be staying there again for MangaNEXT 2013. The daily trips over the bridge into East Rutherford and back to Secaucus on route 3 every day for the convention are worth it! Read more
"Amazing experience!!!"
I will start off by saying this hotel is a definite plus and a must stay...I will definitely be staying there the next time I visit NYC. Check-in went smoothly, room was very nice, clean, comfy. Only issue we had was leaking sink in bathroom...maintenance came in about 2 minutes to fix, but couldn't because it needed new pipe, so they asked if we would […] mind changing rooms, which I of course didn't mind. They moved us only 2 doors down, but the room we moved into was awesome....upgraded from 2 queen beds to huge king size bed, large room with sofa, tables & chairs, microwave & fridge...it was a definite plus and made our night and rest of our stay! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Free shuttle from hotel to Secaucus junction to take the train into Penn Station...not even 10 minute train ride. Complimentary breakfast buffet in their restaurant was delish....eggs, pancakes, potatoes, meat, danishes/muffins...very yummy! Location of hotel is great...very easy to find and cafe, restaurant, Subway, Dunkin Donuts all within walking distance. I can honestly say I did not have one complaint about this hotel. Read more

"Meadowlands Plaza close to stadium"
Room was clean and hotel was nice. Secaucus is a good place to be lost in because it has a small town feel and virtually no bad areas in it. Only thing...I asked for NY city view...there is none and I was booked there. I asked for a single king and got a double queen. Very close and easy to stadium-MetLife. Once you get out, NYC is right there and so […] is Hoboken, etc. Read more
"Nice people"
The staff are always very nice. Wish the restaurant had been open -on other occasions we have had some excellent meals.
very happy with the size of the room and the shuttle to train station
"I was inn hELL"
HOrrible guest Horrible bell boy Horrible checking out at the front desk
"Where East Meets West is no place for rest"
Hotel is under exterior renovation and the main entrance was closed upon our arrival. Found a way in to the lobby through a back door. Buffet Breakfast was cold and unedible and the staff was more concerned about thier tip jar than they were about keeping the dining tables clean and ready for guests to dine at. No bellman was available for portage of […] our bags to / from the lobby to the room either at check in or check out. The hotel charged us $15 per day extra (x's 2) person for our family of four to stay in one room together which really negated any savings we thought we were getting on the room rate. Overall a poor experience and this traveller would recommend visitors try one of the chain hotels in the area instead. Read more
"Meadowlands Plaza Hotel - A good compromise"
Make sure your room has wifi access when you check in. For some reasons, some can't get the wifi signal. Full breakfast. Room clean. The hotel is being renovated right now. You can take the hotel shuttle (subject to availability) to go to the train station in Secaucus ( 9 min by train from Penn Station in NYC) A good price for those who want to stay […] more than a week to visit NYC. AC didnt work iron didnt work toliet didnt woek porperly horrible place shuttle was not availble most of the time
Cleanliness and staff were OK, the condition of the hotel and restaurant was fine but the beds were ridiculously hard. I would have been just as comfortable on the floor. All else was fine but since I only came to sleep and bed was like granite, I can't recommend

"the price was good in comparison to others"
Not bad for the price. There's also a nearby gym and a couple of places to eat. When I went there was remodeling on the outside of building going on.
"Non-smoking Floor?!"
Convenience was the only great thing about our stay. Customer service was ridiculously lacking and took forever! I've never had such a lengthy check-in experience. Our non-smoking floor was a joke. Our first room reeked of smoke, so I had to go through an even lengthier procedure to get the new room. Of course that room stunk too! We had no time left […] to get a third (probably stinky) room, so we kept it. Breakfast wasn't bad! Read more

"great room and location"
fFirst time visting NY staff helpful and free hotel shuttle to and from train 8min. to madison square gardens ; the free breakfeast was the best we ever had in 30 years of traveling. you cannot go wrong staying here and it's in new jersey so the hotel rates are much lower then in New York.
"Remodel"
The hotel was a great value, with firm, comfortable mattress that the kids and the wife and I loved. The rooms were a good size, plenty of parking, only 15 mins from the Lincoln tunnel in the morning and only 10 mins from Manhattan at night. My only complaint was that the Hotel is going through a facelift. At 8am, which translates to 5am for us on the […] west coast, the workers were beating on the exterior walls removing the stucco. Even though our room was on the opposite side of the work, the vibrations carried right into our headboard. The am breakfast was quite nice for a complimentary meal. We will stay there again if needed. The only downside was the use of the computers, very expensive...so bring your own and be aware the Wifi is not dependable. Read more

"Near stadium"
Good for an over night stay near the stadium. Clean, but pillows are hard. Breakfast was very good.
"Impressive Breakfast! but bring ur own bed covers!"
CON:From the whole experience the one thing that I could not get over was how UNCOMFORTABLE, UNBEARABLE the bed covers were! This never happened to me before. It felt like wearing CARPET! (some kind of hard rough skin irritating material weighing down on you). I couldn't stand it! Each night I would strip off the first two layers in anger...always repulsed […] by how it made me feel the first time.hahaha...i don't mean to exaggerate but after a long day....i don't care how ugly or pretty a blanket looks...comfort is important. Other than that, everything else was okay.... PRO: Breakfast makes the hotel WELL WORTH IT!!! They serve a free mini buffet, giving you enough food to last you a good part of the day...(eggs, bacon, potatoes, croissants) They have a shuttle van that takes you to the city bus stop. And if you arrive back B4 10pm you can call free from a public phone to ask the shuttle van to come pick you up. I would definitely come here again. Read more
"Staff More than Helpful"
On the morning we were to depart, my mother, who has cancer, experienced a seizure soon after eating breakfast in the Hotel Restaurant. The Restrauant staff was more than helpful making sure my Mom was comfortable and that our needs were being taken care of. Because a trip to the hospital was warranted, the hotel staff graciously held our room until […] we could return to pack up our things. We can't thank these employees enough for their care and concern! Read more
"Meadowlands Plaza Hotel"
We had really good time in this hotel and I recommend it. The shuttle service worked good. In some cases you have to wait a few minutes to get the Van back to the hotel but is Ok, and the people is really friendly. Breakfast was good with different choices. The front desk was really helpful when we need information about destination or maps. The parking […] is really big and free! The only thing our bedroom was in front of the Turnpike..it was noisy. Places to eat really close (Mediterranean Restaurant, Wendy's, Dunkin Donuts). Very good option... Read more
"Guests come first!"
Excellent hotel for money, and location. Beds were hard but room was very clean! We had room 904, toilet ran water all 4 days ..very annoying but daughter slept thru it all! Breakfast was super good and excellent variety!..Get there before 10:00 AM or food is gone and they don't refill! One complaint...shuttle bus needs to be available all the time […] for guests..we were told it was being used by maintenance!!! NOT ACCEPTABLE!! Cab fare is $13 to train station you can walk to bus station it's safe and 15 minutes...bus cost $3.50 I think to terminal....train fare is $4.00 one way to Penn station...final remark,,make shuttle availabe all the time for guests!! you have a large enough hotel to warrant this accommodation.... "A good choice"
Meadowlands Plaza was a fine choice for our stay -close to NYC but without the cost of a Manhattan Hotel. The breakfast was alright - people serving were very nice - the hotel staff was accommodating. Wish the shuttle would end a little later - we went to a baseball game and a show and had to take a taxi back both times - not too convenient. The shuttle […] was alright - a little tardy but generally our stay was good - the hotel was clean and rooms were suprisingly nice. Read more
"Shuttle Service"
Don't go to this hotel expecting the shuttle to take you where you have to go or bring you back. Several times we had to take a taxi to make our appointments. The Shuttle was usually, "Not available". Check back in 30 minutes. Checking back in 30 minutes only to be told again, "Shuttle not available, check back in 30 minutes". We finally gave up on […] the shuttle service. The desk clerks were only to happy to print out a direction sheet from Google so we could use our own vehicle. That was the only negative thing we had at this hotel. Read more

"Meadowlands Plaza Hotel in New Jersey"
There was construction going on at the hotel and we were awaken early in the morning by banging noises.
"Near New York City"
The Good, front desk staff friendly and complimentary breakfast buffet was fine. Overall hotel and room condition OK. The Bad, room very noisy all day/night from interstate traffic in front of hotel, Hard to sleep with the traffic noise along with beds being hard and uncomfortable. A/C did not work well, Free shuttle to train station was convienient […] and was told just to call before 10PM to be picked up upon our return. Well when we returned to train station exhausted from a walking tour of New York City around 6PM, was told shuttle was not available and to call a cab, which we had to pay for. Hotel apologized for the inconvienence but did not offer any explanation or compensation. When we arrived at hotel, shuttle was parked in front and drove off a short time later. For the price, I expected more. Based on location (industrial park area) next to interstate, comfort of beds, noise level, shuttle dependability, rates should be at less than half what they charge. Will not stay here again. Read more
"Great place for a trip to Manhattan"
A good hotel for visiting Manhattan. The hotel shuttle will drop you at the local bus stop where it is a 15-20 minute drive to Manhattan. 1/3 of the price of staying in Manhattan itself.
"Meadowlands Plaza"
Convenient location for the Meadowlands, but the mattress was extremely hard and the pillows weren't much better. The air conditioning kept turning off and on all night (the controls did not give the option of taking it off an "energy saver" setting), and this further contributed to a poor night's sleep. The breakfast buffet was OK, heavy food like […] pancakes, eggs, and bacon and no fruit or yogurt. Read more
"Out of NYC centre, but good connections to it."
Nice hotel, with very nice rooms. Their shuttle service to Secaucus Stn is excellent and the train into NYC is fast and regular. Good fod outlets nearby and a liquor store!!!! Much better than the stress of inner city hotels.
This was a very nice place to stay for the price. Free shuttle to train depot and a good free breakfast. You get to park for free which was a plus. Would stay here again.
"Meadowlands NJ"
The hotel was fine. They have a shuttle to the train station which was very convenient to get to NYC. It cost $8 round trip per person, which adds up if you go a few days. The breakfast was mediocre. Sweet rolls were hard and overdone. If you have kids 12 or over, you had to pay extra for them to eat. However, there is a Dunkin Donuts accross the road. […] Water in room 905 started out hot, but after about 30 seconds, was only luke warm. They came up to fix it, but it still didn't get very warm (quick showers!) Really not a bad hotel. Cheaper than paying for a hotel and parking in the city. Read more
