"Nice hotel in a safe area"
This was our first stay at The Madison - great first experience!! We will definitely recommend this hotel to other friends. Can't wait to come back for a longer stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"upscale small hotel blocks from Beale St & river"
VERY NICE! but dress shirt & loafer type shoes appropriate attire for rooftop party. could not enter unless dressed accordingly. Embarrassing to Us not knowing that info before hand... :(Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great contemporary hotel in great location"
Very comfortable room, nice and quiet. The restaurant was five stars and the rooftop lounge was very nice. Beautiful view of the river.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful hotel, friendly staff."
The Madison is a beautiful hotel! The staff were all friendly and helpful and our room was gorgeous! The bar on the roof was an excellent place to unwind after a long day and watch the sunset. Would definitely love to stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Upscale, contemporary hotel."
Great attention to detail at the hotel. The room was very good sized for a downtown property. The decor is modern-contemporary but much warmer than some modern themed hotels. Great location near restaurants and shopping but just far enough away from Beale street and the rowdy tourists.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect weekend getaway hotel"
Wonderful, professional, and friendly staff. The room was perfect! Very comfy beds! Location is amazing! We didn't need our car during our stay as we were close to all the fun downtown locales and superb restaurants! We ate brunch at eighty3 (the restaurant in the hotel) and it was scrumptious as well! We did not save room for the fried Oreos, but the […] fried green tomatoes Benedict with greens and grits was unbelievable, as was the spinach, Brie, and bacon omelet. Don't miss the rooftop bar! Lovely views of the Mighty Mississippi during the day or the cityscape at night! We will definitely stay at The Madison the next time we have a chance to spend a weekend in downtown Memphis! The stay at the Madison was fabulous. We stayed only one night because our honeymoon travels officially kicked off the next morning. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The room and its amenities were marvelous. The view from their rooftop was spectacular. Furthermore the breakfast in bed was befitting a king.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel..The staff was amazing, everyone from the front desk, to the maid working in the restroom.. Everyday heard "good morning" or "have a good evening" from at least 1 employee.. Can't wait to go back.Genuine Expedia guest review
A renovated hotel with a great roof top lounge with a beautiful view of the river, especially at sunset.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The people were polite, courteous, and provided timely service. Even though the bathroom needs to be updated with exhaust fans, the hotel was very nice. My next visit and stay will be at the Madison! I recommend it to those with high standards and great taste.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel, great staff! The valet parking for $29 a night was a bit steep, so we just found a parking place on the street (it was the weekend so no charge for the meters). I suppose during the week it would not be an option.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The real Memphis"
The Madison is a great botique hotel, which conveys a Memphis vibe. The staff is friendly and attentive. Restaurant and bar are great. The rooftop patio and bar that overlooks the MS river can compete with the Huntley in Santa Monica. Fitness center needs to be updated and expanded, while $29 for valet parking is insulting--especially in Memphis.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Slightly overpriced but very nice!"
This hotel was great, but it was slightly overpriced. The room was very nice but I'm not sure if It was worth it. Also, I didn't like how there was absolutley nowhere for us to park without having to walk a few blocks with our luggage. We decided to do Valet parking because it seemed like the only feasible option. The hotel was VERY nice though, especially […] the gym and pool. The bar was nice as well with great happy hour deals! I don't reccomed eating in the restaurant for breakfast though because I had a small, average tasting omlet for $14! That's insane. The location was great and there is a trolley less than a block away that can take you all over downtown. The trolley is $1 per ride or $3.50 for a day pass that lasts until 11:59 Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was ok. This is not a high end hotel; this is not along the same lines as a Ritz-Carlton. The desk staff was very pleasant. I felt that the hotel was understaffed and lacked security. While a few blocks from Beale street, I did not think it was safe as streets were deserted in early evening. If they had a doorman, I couldn't tell that person from […] the car valet. The Night stand was dirty. I mean not wiped as drips from a spilled drink. I did my research as this is a highly rated hotel outside expedia's forum. Not taking in the expense into consideration, I would not stay here again because I felt it was understaffed. Lack of feeling of any security, too far away from Beale street even in early evening. Unpopulated area for a city. Peabody was sold out or I would have stayed there; I've previously stayed there. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The AC did not work- only the fan option was working. Otherwise room was good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"good high end hotel"
the staff was the best room needed to be changed ac didnot work overall staff made up for inconvence good hotelGenuine Expedia guest review
"very lovely hotel"
very attractive, impressive, sophisticated hotel; friendly staff; only negatives is that bed was a bit hard and the hotel is already expensive enough without adding the $11 "service fee" and $25 valet parking, both of which are mandatory.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Clean and conveniently located"
The Madison promotes services such as free wi fi, swimming pool, etc. In fact they charge $10 to every guest regardless of whether you use it. I feel this is intentionally misleading and strongly object to this type of practice. I also feel the valet parking is very overpriced. In many cities, $25 is standard. In Memphis it is excessive.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel for a romantic weekend."
Room was small but clean and well appointed. Bathroom appered to be recently remodeled, and was pretty good-sized for an older hotel. Hotel lobby bar had a good wine list and decent wines by the glass. Wait staff was friendly. Rooftop bar was still under construction, but the view of the Mississippi River will be great.Genuine Expedia guest review
Outstanding hotel. Downtown Memphis always has been rough around the edges but don't hold that against the Madison. Besides nothing tops the rooftop bar that overlooks the river. Fitness center needs an update. Indoor pool is great and works fine for laps.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Choose a different hotel"
Although this is supposed to be one of the best hotels in town, the level of service was really poor - and the hotel was almost empty at the time. We had to call to complain about the housekeeping service three times in a 3-night stay. And once we called to have our car brought from valet parking, and they ignored us. They're all very friendly, and […] good at apologizing, but not good at providing even the basics of services. It looks quite nice, but looks can be deceiving! Mattress was stiff, but everything else was wonderful. Great staff, location and amenities.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Doormen were awesome! Front desk staff very friendly and accommodating. Bar/restaurant staff Top Shelf! Great place to stay in downtown Memphis, rooftop patio with great view of the Mississippi River. Will stay there again and again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel room was not big as I expected. Poor customer service. Called down to get some towels and waited for an hour. Walked down to the lobby area to get the towels and the lady said someone would bring them up and had to wait another 20 minutes. No one stated anything about the $10.95 charge extra until I was billed the next day after staying in the […] room. Tried to talk to the manager on duty about it and she continued to call me a liar. Worst experience at a hotel that I have had and will never stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Be prepared for service fees and tip for service"
The hotel is nice and the staff is relentlessly upbeat. The rooms seem a tad on the small side compared to other luxury hotels we have stayed in, but they are well-appointed. However, the system under which it runs will keep us from staying again. Immediately upon arrival, we were informed at the desk that we would be charged an additional $10.95 per […] night "service fee." The clerk told us, "all our guests pay this," but it instantly added 5% to our already-settled Expedia tab (not at the lowest room rate, either) for the three-night stay. We were then asked if we would like to have valet service - for an additional $25 fee. When we needed ice, the only way to get it is in a small bag brought up by staff, and the staffer bringing it of course angles for a tip for performing a basic service unobtainable in any other way. While their demeanor was always pleasant, once the doormen saw that we had brought our own bags in, our door opening services were very spotty at best. The friendliest staff were housekeepers, who did not require tips for service. I do tip for excellent services rendered, but we began to feel that the system was set up to extract max dollars, a feeling we have not have at other luxury properties. If dollars did not come, service was curtailed, except for the housekeeping staff. This hotel would be best for business expense account travellers and the extremely well-heeled. For a pleasure stay like ours, I expected more service inclusiveness in the price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Fantastic spot in Memphis"
Very modern, fun spirit to hotel. Helpful staff is ready to please. Easy to ride trolley on Main Street or on loop past river.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great location. Nice size bathrooms. Mold in shower. Stain on curtains. Rude front desk staff. Not worth the cost.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The Hotel is impeccably manitained and decorated. The staff, courteous and congenial. The room was comfortable and very clean. The Hotel Bar was friendly and welcoming (bartender Ashley was amazing).Genuine Expedia guest review

"Heart of Downtown"
The Hotel staff was very courteous. The room was clean and after being out all evening, our beds were turned down upon our return. The hotel was within walking distance of Beale street. I would recommend this hotel to others. Even when I called down for my car, they always answered the phone by my name. I was never just someone that stayed there, they […] talked to you as if they knew you personally. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel with hidden fees"
Hotel staff was very friendly. They added a $10.95 per day "service charge" to the bill. Valet parking is a little steep also at $23 a day. Probably would not stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"IT WAS OK"
The room was very small. Nice sized bathroom. Clean, nice and new. Over priced food and parking. Also there are "extra fees" for use of stuff in the building. I probably would not stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best in Memphis"
Great hotel. Best hotel in downtown Memphis hands down. We will only stay at the Madison when in Memphis from now on. Modern, clean, friendly staff, turn down service and much more. I have stayed all over the city of Memphis over my lifetime and in all of the nicer downtown hotels and by far the Madison is at the top of the pyramid.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was very nice. We stayed in a King Suite. The room was a little pricey for what we got, but we did enjoy our stay there. The staff was great and very helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not sure if I'll stay again"
We were checked into a room that had other people in it. Very unsafe. Took 45to minutes to get checked and get or car. Rooms were awesome. Room service took 50 minutes to get two drinks from the bar to our room. This isn't good if you pay $$$ for a room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Many hotels in the imediate area of equal or better quality for 30% less. was charged 10 per day for Internet I never used. Definately would not stay there again. Maid did not clean the room twice out of six days.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Would stay here again."
Beautiful hotel. Extremely friendly staff. My first time in Memphis and the staff was very helpful in pointing me in the right direction of some delicious BBQ and nightlife. The bartender, Orlando, was super nice and funny. We could've stayed at his bar all night chatting it up with him!Genuine Expedia guest review
My brief stay at The Madison was enjoyable. The hotel was clean and artfully furnished, the staff was courteous and helpful, and they had a great selection of amenities, even though I did not get the chance to partake in all of them. My only gripe was how small the room was for the price I paid, but I got over that quickly.Genuine Expedia guest review

Location, very friendly staff, hotel is beautiful!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My boyfriend and I recently took a rather lengthy road trip and this was the final hotel we stayed in, and we wish we could have stayed here the entire time. Granted, it was a splurge night for us. The valet was awesome. The front desk was very informative upon check in. The lobby was clean, the elevator ran smooth and really quick considering that […] it's a 16 story building! We didn't get there until around 9pm, and the turn down service already happened. We walked in to a lit room with the radio on, the bed turned down with chocolates on the pillows :) They were hosting a roof top event with a band, drinks, and small plates that was no cover for hotel guests. It's a beautiful view up there! Our room had a separate shower and tub. The tub was awesomely deep! Which was helpful for soaking since we walked 37 miles in 6 days. Oh, and the water pressure in the shower was perfect. I have long hair and was having a hard time washing and rinsing it at all the other places we stayed at. The mini-fridge was stocked with goodies, which meant no room for anything we wanted to add to it, but I guess they figure if you're willing to drop that kind of money for a room that you wouldn't be the type to bring your own drinks and food :) oh well!
