"Comfortable downtown retreat"
Most impressed by costumer service: thermostat in our room wasn't working and it was very cold. Someone came up right away to look at it. He couldn't fix it so in under 5 min the manager called back and we were upgraded to a suite on the same floor and also received $10 off at the hotel restaurant. Otherwise, great location, quiet hotel. Awesome view […] of the Mississippi from the rooftop bar. Valet parking is expensive but we found street parking on the same street where you don't have to feed the meter between 6pm and 8am. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Disappointing for the price"
1. Phone didn't work. Engineer told me it was programed wrong at the factory and couldn't be changed- then why not replace it! 2. Ran out of toilet paper -had to call fir it? First hotel I have ever been in that doesn't leave an extra! 3. Supposed to get ice at turndown. On weekend did not. Week days did. Indicates poor training or laziness. 4. 6 hangers […] in closet. Guess you can't afford more. 5. Wanted to look for friend who lives there. No telephone book anywhere in hotel, asked at desk also - don't have one. For a hotel that charges the prices you do these things become annoying and very disappointing. Never to return! Bruce Nelson (room 706) Oct. 19-24, 2013 Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice hotel with an awesome view from terrace"
This hotel has a terrace available to their customers 24 hours. Its a great view of the Mississippi River and Mud Island. The hotel room was nice and clean and the staff did an excellent job. Its also a short walk to Beale St. Great place and will be staying there again!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very relaxing, upscale and and first-class service"
The room was very well appointed, the food was delicious the drinks were outstanding. The Roof top was phenomenal.Genuine Expedia guest review
My wife and I stayed for two nights. We arrived late around 9 pm. The desk clerk was very friendly. Almost too friendly, but that may have more to do with my mood and jet lag. The hotel was in nice condition. The room was nice, spacious for the size and age of the hotel, and the rooftop bar is really nice with a great view. The hotels.com price was […] very good for the quality of the room. I wish we could've gotten a king size bed, but a Queen is what we have at home. So no real loss. This was the second time we have stayed at the Madison and it will definitely not be the last. Its a short walk to Beale st and FedEx forum. We love the staff and the rooms. Great place to stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place to stay"
We haven't been to Memphis in years and wanted to stay close to the FedEx Forum. This was an excellent choice! Its only four blocks from Beale St. and two blocks off of the water. The trolley runs right past the corner where hotel is located and its easy to find. We loved that the staff was polite and helpful right from the time we pulled up. Valet […] and doorman were both welcoming. We made our way to the check in desk to again find a smiling face welcoming us to the hotel. We were starving so they put our luggage in our room for us while we went to the restaurant in the hotel. It had great choices on the dinner menu and Alex the bartender was helpful with suggestions to do for the night. I loved the room with its lush bed and big shower. Only negative I would state would be there weren't enough lights in the bathroom, but its a hotel, so its hard to place lighting everywhere. Overall I obviously would recommend this hotel and will be staying again when we visit. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great, but could do a little bit better"
Although the service was generally excellent at The Madison and all the staff very friendly and professional, the housekeeper skipped some steps sometimes and we had the feeling he/she just dashed through. The evening turndown service (including filling the ice bucket) was great but was done a bit on the late side for us.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everyone was friendly & smiling & made you feel special.Genuine Expedia guest review
pass this on to your city counsel. I have been all over the world from russia to china and NY to LA and I have never been in a city as dirty as Memphis was. If you want the tourist business you need to clean your streets every night. I have never seen that much trash on the streets in any city. You have a very historical and beautiful town that is not […] maintained. it's a shame. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to fun, great rooftop!"
It was wonderful, great, quality hotel with lots of amenities!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"OUTDOOR LOUNGE TOP FLOOR SPECTACULAR & FUN"
Enjoyed stay. No towel bars. I found that a bit inconvenient since hotels want us to reuse towels. Employees all very friendly and helpful. I love that they furnish a refrigerator in room. Nice to have a cold drink or some fruit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Exceeded expectations. Upscale and polished. Parking too expensive. Valet only, nowhere to park downtown after 8p. Downtown Memphis is a bit shabby. Seek other neighborhoods for food and dining (South Cooper). Full service gym across the street. Would stay every time I'm in Memphis!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel within walking distance of downtown."
Great staff and, overall, great amenities! The rooms are a bit on the expensive end, though, and so are some of the onsite extras (parking, breakfast, bar, etc).Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Mud Island"
All staff very helpful and very friendly!! Loved the penthouse, Beautiful viewsGenuine Expedia guest review
"Lovely modernized old hotel"
What a terrific experience! While Memphis has its bumps and scrapes, the Madison has done a terrific job of creating a modern luxurious hotel from old bones. Easy walk to Beale St that makes you feel very connected to 'all things Memphis'. Great downtown location near a MU campus and great dog park around the corner with Civil War monuments. The neighborhood […] feels very upscale despite some still vacant buildings and draws a young crown. Very accomodating pet policy. The restaurant was awesome, really cool decor and great food! My brood is still bummed out we skipped breakfast and the promising hash. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Must stay at this hotel!"
Loved this hotel. It was a few blocks from Beale street, so it was quiet. The rooms were nicely appointed. If I were to criticize, I would say that the trash cans were extremely small and there was no fan in the bathroom. Large hi-def TV well placed. Afternoon orange juice spritzer and fruit (complimentary) on arrival. Staff was very helpful and the […] temperature of the room was good. Location was close to good restaurants, all within walking distance or trolley ride. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location. Fantastic rooms. Helpful staff."
When arriving at the Madison, it was pretty clear that valet was the way to go. They were prompt to greet us upon arrival and our check in was speedy and friendly. The room was spacious and comfortable with all the basic amenities you would want in a nice hotel like this. We also used the exercise facilities one day and they were quite nice as well. The […] hotel is located in the heart of downtown Memphis, with easy walking access to Beale Street and all of the cities attractions and restaurants. Rooms were cleaned well and turndown service was provided each night. My only small complaint was that on two occasions our wait for our car was over 20 minutes. But we were on vacation, so fortunately we weren't in a hurry to get anywhere in a hurry. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This was a very nice hotel. The staff was very helpful and acted as if they were so happy that we were there. The room was nicely decorated. We would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely stay here again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"What a Memphis gem!"
The Peabody -lovely lobby, dated rooms, a lot of history but a little less luxury. The other downtown hotels -good, but the typical sterile luxury brands. The Madison -an absolute gem of culture and service with its own unique flavor. The staff bends over backwards, and every single one has a smile, from desk, to maids, to maintenance. I don't know […] what the Madison does to keep their staff both service focused and with such cheer -I hope they treat them as well as they treat their customers! I'll never stay anywhere else in Memphis! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Overpriced. The hotel does not even offer continental free breakfast or parking. Stay outside downtown for the price. We were hoping to have more amenities for the price. It was as clean and comfortable as a Marriott Springfield , but twice the price.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great hotel. Very nice looking, technology galore, and big comfy bed. Only bad thing i can possibly say is we saw a roach or big water beetle by the pool. Made us feel a little grossed out, but I guess the bugs are plentiful in the south. Overall, great stay!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Downtown boutique hotel"
Small, comfortable and clean. Front desk staff were delightful. Rooftop bar was a nice surprise but music was a little loud for my taste (but we couldn't hear it in our room three floors below.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel with night life."
Very nice hotel. We went and enjoyed going to the rooftop party. We enjoyed a WONDERFUL room service breakfast. Only negative is that we left something in the room and the "lost and found" had not returned our call about it after a week.Genuine Expedia guest review

The valet parking is on the high side but that's the case in most citiesGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I travel coast to coast for my job and The Madison Hotel is by far, hands down, the BEST hotel I have ever stayed. From the stylish rooms to the friendly desk, valet, lounge and service personnel, my visit there ws second to none. The rooms were a little pricy as was the valet/garage ssrvice, considering I never used my vehicle while in Memphis, but […] I would rather pay and get excellent overall service than have it included and the overall experience be less than expected. I would definitely recommend the Madison Hotel and be sure to stop in the restaurant/lounge and see Orlando, the mixologist. He is an exceptional and very personable individual and bartender. You will not be disappointed!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
A few steps from Second Street, which is a mall all the way (a few blocks) to noisy Beale Street. You can stroll along the quiet mall and stop to dine at outdoor cafes or hop on an antique but functional trolley for only a dollar. The hotel has a lovely rooftop open patio/bar with a great view of the Mississippi River. Staff couldn't be friendlier.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel in a safe area"
This was our first stay at The Madison - great first experience!! We will definitely recommend this hotel to other friends. Can't wait to come back for a longer stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"upscale small hotel blocks from Beale St & river"
VERY NICE! but dress shirt & loafer type shoes appropriate attire for rooftop party. could not enter unless dressed accordingly. Embarrassing to Us not knowing that info before hand... :(Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great contemporary hotel in great location"
Very comfortable room, nice and quiet. The restaurant was five stars and the rooftop lounge was very nice. Beautiful view of the river.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful hotel, friendly staff."
The Madison is a beautiful hotel! The staff were all friendly and helpful and our room was gorgeous! The bar on the roof was an excellent place to unwind after a long day and watch the sunset. Would definitely love to stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Upscale, contemporary hotel."
Great attention to detail at the hotel. The room was very good sized for a downtown property. The decor is modern-contemporary but much warmer than some modern themed hotels. Great location near restaurants and shopping but just far enough away from Beale street and the rowdy tourists.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect weekend getaway hotel"
Wonderful, professional, and friendly staff. The room was perfect! Very comfy beds! Location is amazing! We didn't need our car during our stay as we were close to all the fun downtown locales and superb restaurants! We ate brunch at eighty3 (the restaurant in the hotel) and it was scrumptious as well! We did not save room for the fried Oreos, but the […] fried green tomatoes Benedict with greens and grits was unbelievable, as was the spinach, Brie, and bacon omelet. Don't miss the rooftop bar! Lovely views of the Mighty Mississippi during the day or the cityscape at night! We will definitely stay at The Madison the next time we have a chance to spend a weekend in downtown Memphis! The stay at the Madison was fabulous. We stayed only one night because our honeymoon travels officially kicked off the next morning. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The room and its amenities were marvelous. The view from their rooftop was spectacular. Furthermore the breakfast in bed was befitting a king.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel..The staff was amazing, everyone from the front desk, to the maid working in the restroom.. Everyday heard "good morning" or "have a good evening" from at least 1 employee.. Can't wait to go back.Genuine Expedia guest review
A renovated hotel with a great roof top lounge with a beautiful view of the river, especially at sunset.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The people were polite, courteous, and provided timely service. Even though the bathroom needs to be updated with exhaust fans, the hotel was very nice. My next visit and stay will be at the Madison! I recommend it to those with high standards and great taste.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel, great staff! The valet parking for $29 a night was a bit steep, so we just found a parking place on the street (it was the weekend so no charge for the meters). I suppose during the week it would not be an option.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The real Memphis"
The Madison is a great botique hotel, which conveys a Memphis vibe. The staff is friendly and attentive. Restaurant and bar are great. The rooftop patio and bar that overlooks the MS river can compete with the Huntley in Santa Monica. Fitness center needs to be updated and expanded, while $29 for valet parking is insulting--especially in Memphis.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Slightly overpriced but very nice!"
This hotel was great, but it was slightly overpriced. The room was very nice but I'm not sure if It was worth it. Also, I didn't like how there was absolutley nowhere for us to park without having to walk a few blocks with our luggage. We decided to do Valet parking because it seemed like the only feasible option. The hotel was VERY nice though, especially […] the gym and pool. The bar was nice as well with great happy hour deals! I don't reccomed eating in the restaurant for breakfast though because I had a small, average tasting omlet for $14! That's insane. The location was great and there is a trolley less than a block away that can take you all over downtown. The trolley is $1 per ride or $3.50 for a day pass that lasts until 11:59 Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was ok. This is not a high end hotel; this is not along the same lines as a Ritz-Carlton. The desk staff was very pleasant. I felt that the hotel was understaffed and lacked security. While a few blocks from Beale street, I did not think it was safe as streets were deserted in early evening. If they had a doorman, I couldn't tell that person from […] the car valet. The Night stand was dirty. I mean not wiped as drips from a spilled drink. I did my research as this is a highly rated hotel outside expedia's forum. Not taking in the expense into consideration, I would not stay here again because I felt it was understaffed. Lack of feeling of any security, too far away from Beale street even in early evening. Unpopulated area for a city. Peabody was sold out or I would have stayed there; I've previously stayed there. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The AC did not work- only the fan option was working. Otherwise room was good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"good high end hotel"
the staff was the best room needed to be changed ac didnot work overall staff made up for inconvence good hotelGenuine Expedia guest review
"very lovely hotel"
very attractive, impressive, sophisticated hotel; friendly staff; only negatives is that bed was a bit hard and the hotel is already expensive enough without adding the $11 "service fee" and $25 valet parking, both of which are mandatory.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Clean and conveniently located"
The Madison promotes services such as free wi fi, swimming pool, etc. In fact they charge $10 to every guest regardless of whether you use it. I feel this is intentionally misleading and strongly object to this type of practice. I also feel the valet parking is very overpriced. In many cities, $25 is standard. In Memphis it is excessive.Genuine Expedia guest review
