Great from start to finish - welcomed by a warm smiley face on reception and departed with the same. Nice big rooms, good bathrooms, fresh breakfast. Definitely recommended.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Lovely in-town hotel"
11/17/14 Lisa S Princeton, New Jersey
The Lane Hotel is a lovely in-town hotel with spacious rooms, very comfortable beds and a quirky but pleasant atmosphere. Although there is no restaurant on site, "Fireworks" is an adjacent venue that was very convenient and even delivered to your room upon request. Thanks to the stellar location, many restaurants are within walking distance, as well as quaint shops. The complimentary continental breakfast was wonderful, with the most scrumptious pastries! We hope to return again...if our son is accepted at one of the nearby colleges.
"Should have stayed at the Courtyard...."
It seems that everyone thinks they can renovate an old building and call it a "boutique" hotel but what they tend to forget is that it has to function like a modern property with old world charm. That means trained housekeepers who change the mattress pad with a giant stain on it and clean under the sink every now and then. Come on people, where's your room inspector?? Also the heaters are antiquated and don't have an auto setting that works so it's freezing when you arrive and 100 degrees when you return from dinner. Then there's the lack of professional service, trash in the hallways that nobody picks up and parking that's a block away in some garage with no security.
"Unacceptable and Unpleasant"
I was initially checked into a room warmed only by ywo space heaters. When I called the desk the woman didn't apologize and instead moved me to a much smaller room without a price adjustment. She seemed exasperated by her job and the guests who interrupted her -- very unpleasant. Also no room service. Not even pen and paper in the room. Won't stay here again.
"I've already booked my next trip!"

I absolutely loved this hotel! Everything about it was fantastic! It started the second we walked in- everywhere in this hotel smells AMAZING. I don't know if it's from the restaurant (Fireworks) next door or what, but who cares. It smells great! The lobby had a cute little bar and gathering area. In the morning they had a continental breakfast, and drinks at night. Everyone was friendly and outgoing Our room was enormous! When you walked in there was a sitting room with a TV and two chairs. A little table too in case you wanted to eat or just relax. The bedroom was even bigger! Great Keurig machine with lots of choices (even a pumpkin!), and the TV worked perfectly. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom spotless. They had some great little toiletries too that were refreshed during our entire stay One night we went to Fireworks and sat at the bar and had dinner. Fantastic food, and a great knowledgeable bartender! I asked her about the local gins, and not only did she know EVERYTHING about it, she even gave me a taste! Awesome! AND FREE, FAST WI-FI!!! That is wonderful itself! I loved staying here so much! Thanks again!

This hotels and it's employees, think that this is a much nicer hotel, than it actually is. While the room ( suite) was passably clean and in good repair, the employees were just meh. The biggest disappointment came when 1 hour after checking out, we realized that my son's stuffed monkey was left behind. When we called they emphatically insisted that the monkey wasn't found, despite the fact that we absolutely know that the monkey did not leave the room. They didn't check, and if they did , then housekeeping likely stole it, which is senseless. Either the monkey mysteriously evaporated, or someone decided that they wanted to keep him, or threw him away. We called a few times later in the day and the week, and they seemed to not be able to care any less about something that was a very important possession of my child's. Overall , I would never stay here again.
"Comfort, Amenities and Close to everything"
10/06/14 bikegem Bay Area, California
Our bicycle group stayed here in September and we were delighted by the comfort and luxury. The linens are top drawer and the rooms are decorated very nicely. Very pretty and luxurious. The hotel is right in the center of town so it is perfect for rambling around Keene. Free breakfast and free wine/beer in the afternoon! It is owned by Marriott and will be changing names soon, so I hope that it retains its charm and luxury. My only complaint is that the hotel was very warm and we had trouble getting the room to cool down. When we opened the window to cool down, it let in a lot of street noise.
"Very Comfortable Room, Perfect Location, Limited Services"
09/27/14 ManhattanWilliam New York City, New York
The hotel is in a perfect location, situated right in the center of town. The place is very nice and the room was very comfortable HOWEVER there should be a mini-fridge in the room since there is no room service and places in the neighborhood close relatively early. The services booklet says it can be requested but when I mentioned it I was told there were no mini-fridges for the rooms. I also noticed that the television channels are not high definition. Wi-Fi was present but a little spotty. Still, I enjoyed my stay, the bed was very comfortable, the location was perfect and the (limited) staff was friendly. I would recommend the hotel and plan to stay again in the future.
"What a beautiful surprise!"

Everything about this place is lovely! The friendly staff and the GORGEOUS rooms! I had one with a great view of the street, which is charming with a gazebo and and old fashion hometown feeling. Loved the decor- the bed was super comfortable lots of pillows and tall- good thing I am tall. Floor to ceiling windows add to the chic loft-like feel. The bathroom was clean and beautifully appointed in a updated old feel (bead board wainscoting- black and white mini tiles on the floor) We enjoyed a wonderful complimentary glass of wine in the first floor lounge before heading out to the party we were in town for. The next morning a nice continental breakfast was served there. The walk around town with quaint little shop was also a treat- loved the Knitting Knook behind the gazebo! and the old time candy store next door to the Knitting store! I will definitely book here again!
"An Un expected Surprise"

Stopped in this little town on our way somewhere else and discovered the most beautiful little town. When we pulled in we were charmed by the town, in the Gazebo in the center of town music was being played and people were walking around the square. We checked into The Lane Hotel and went to our beautiful rooms. They were well appointed with excellent linens and comfortable beds. The hotel was extremely clean and well kept. The free continental breakfast in the morning was great. Huge tasty muffins, fruit, and healthy cereal choices as well as other fresh juices and coffee. We would go back here to visit any opportunity that we will get.

The management has done an excellent job of refurbishing the rooms if ours was a typical example. It is an added perk to be able walk a block or two for a variety of tasty restaurant choices and less than a block for specialty coffee.
