"Business Trip - Quality Pricing"
Overall it was a good stay. I do not have anything to complain about but maybe a couple suggestions. 1) the pool/hot tub area (very excited it was indoor) the area seemed dreary & uninviting - just having a different color paint and maybe one or two art pieces would really making it nice. 2) maybe one extra blanket on a shelf in the room to be used […] as needed. Room was right across from ice machine....could hear ice being dispensed in the middle of the night. Hotel needs more sound proofing. Could also hear doors slamming close.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Check in was painless and easy. Bed gave up a good nights sleep and the area being next to freeway was quite.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice Hotel, Not So Great Room"
Unfortunately, the hotel had recently installed security lights in their parking lot and, according to the front desk, had installed black out drapes in the rooms facing the lights. Apparently they missed our room. And they couldn't seem to find us a replacement room. The light was blinding. We finally ended up solving the problem ourselves by taking […] the dark brown bed runner and throwing it over the curtain rod holding the lightweight curtains to block the light and that worked pretty good. We couldn't speak to a manager, she didn't work weekends, and we were given a 30% discount on our next room upon checkout which is worthless because there will be no next room, we won't stay there again. I am asking the manager via email to comp the room. Another problem we had was the heater was so loud, every time it kicked on, it woke us up. We finally had to turn it off. Response by Red Lion Hotel Tacoma Please accept my sincerest apologies on behalf of our hotel. We appreciate you taking the time to post a review of your experiences at our property. We take your concerns seriously and the fact that you were not provided the proper room darkening drapes, and that the heating unit was so loud you could not sleep, is disappointing. Please be assured that both of these issues will be addressed accordingly with our staff. Your feedback is appreciated and we will make note of this situation to discuss with our team. Thank you for being a valued guest and we look forward to serving you in the future.
"A hotel with easy access to the primary freeways"
Of the limited time I spent at the hotel I found the staff dedicated to the comfort and needs of the guests. I found it refreshing to have complimentary hot coffee available 24 hours a day. The complimentary breakfast was adequate and allowed for my saving significant time each moring.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Will repeat if in the Tacoma area"
Red Lion Tacoma is strategically located for folks heading for McChord AFB; lots of service personnel staying in the hotel; felt right at home being a military retiree and current DoD civilian in the hunt for a retirement community. Red Lion hotels are reasonable and accommodations are well above average - comfortable beds, lots of hot water, everything […] is clean, free wifi, refrigerator and microwave in the room, continental breakfast: what's not to like? I joined their membership club and will seek out Red Lion hotels at future destinations; really, I'm not getting paid to say that. We also stayed in the Red Lion at Port Angeles, WA and it was just as good as Tacoma, except there was no continental breakfast :-( Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not a nice place to stay"
I was put in a room that had the elevator on one side and the stairs on the other so every single person that passed by made a ton of noise and the door and walls of the room were paper thin. I couldn't get any sleep because of all the noise plus there was some kind of party going on in the parking lot until 2 AM. Hotel management didn't do anything […] about it and someone ended up calling the police who finally came and broke it up. My room was also very oddly shaped. The bed ran into the bathroom opening and a chair blocked the passageway from the door to the bed. I ended up crawling over furniture just to maneuver around. After no sleep from the noise and being frustrated about the odd room, I complained to the front desk. They didn't care. What a waste of a lot of money. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

I really like staying in this hotel. The staff is friendly. The sheets feel wonderful to slip into. Staying in a king suite is not what we usually do but was a nice splurge. Loved the spa tub! The only real negative was the bed felt like it was broken when I sat down on it. It was still comfortable, I just had to scoot towards the middle.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I thought it was nice. No issues.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Tacoma business trip"
For the price I felt the hotel was a nice place to stay. Room was clean, but it had a funny smell to it. I opened the windows to help alleviate the smell but it didn't work. Too busy to ask to change rooms so I just dealt with it. Very friendly staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
difficult to enter and exit hotel, very busy streetGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quick overnight stay"
The hotel was close to everything, very convenient right off the highway. Not really worth the price tho, mold in the shower, crack in the bathroom sink, air conditioning didn't work very well... The pool was really nice and my kids enjoyed it. The free breakfast was very low budget, not many choicesGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Was good except for Friday and Saturday nights got woken up buy the noisy Nightclub accrossed the street. Couldn't sleep most of the night because of the loud music and people outside. Was disappointed with that.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The most outstanding part of our stay was the front desk staff. They were so friendly and helpful. I went to the desk several times just because it was so much fun to talk with them. My wife left her cane in the room. I asked the front desk if we could have a key back to retrieve the cane. The young girl helping us grabbed a key and ran up to get it. "Great hotel for anyone with good taste"
The Red Lion in Tacoma was amazing!! Friendly staff and great up keep:-) can't wait to go backGenuine Expedia guest review
Stayed on a Saturday night, night club across the street very loud about 2:00 am. Hotel staff very rude.Genuine Expedia guest review
Old old old. I stay at Red Lion's typically because of fitness facilities. This hotel is definitely not up to other RL standards. Tile in shower needs to be regrouted badly. Our daughter will be attending college close by but we will not stay there while visiting her.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to the freeway"
This hotel is very close to the freeway, so you do hear freeway noise at night. Also the room had a very strong odor and wasn't as clean as it could have been.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good hotel - we enjoyed our stay for 4 nights"
The hotel is older, but they have done a lot of updates. The room was a good size and had a new microwave and mini-fridge. The bed was VERY comfortable. I was concerned about that because hotel beds are usually hard. I slept like a baby the entire time! The bathroom was small, but manageable. The breakfast was good and the pool was nice. The only complaint […] I had was that the TV was old and fuzzy. Everything else was great. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel; but pet friendly"
Hotel was nice and clean an staff was very friendly. Only downfall hotel is PET friendly which I didn't know when I booked room. So the 2 am barking dog was a surprise.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was nice but we had to move rooms because we were initially put in a room where the ice and vending machine was across from our door and it was loud. Also the heating wall unit was really loud. 2nd room had a clog in the bathtub but when we called they came up and fixed it right away. I also left my keys behind and they called me a couple […] of hours later to notify me which was great. Over all the beds were comfy and the service was great. "POOL HOT TUB CLOSED FOR SERVICE & BROKEN DOOR"
WE STAYED AT THIS HOTEL SO OUR KIDS COULD SWIM AND USE THE HOT TUB. WHEN THEY WE TO USE THOSE SERICES THEY WERE CLOSED FOR MAINTENCE (SATURDAY NIGHT FROM 6:30-8:30 PM). THEY SHOULD HAVE SCHEDULED IT WHEN THE HOTEL WAS NOT BOOKED FULL WITH A KIDS SOCCER TEAM. ALSO OUR ROOM KEY WOULD NOT OPEN OUR DOOR WHEN WE CAME BACK FROM THE POOL AREA AFTER JUST BEING […] TOLD WE COULD NOT USE THE POOL. WE WERE STUCK IN THE HALL FOR AN HOUR WHILE THEY TOOK THE DOOR APART TO BREAK US INTO OUR ROOM. WE WERE GIVEN A NEW ROOM ONLY AT OUR OWN REQUEST BECAUSE IT WAS 9:30 PM AT NIGHT AND THE KIDS NEED TO GO TO BED. THEY WANTED TO JUST FIX OUR DOOR AND BE IN OUR ROOM UNTIL MIDNIGHT FIXING IT!?! THEY MOVED US TO ANOTHER ROOM OF THE SAME SIZE AND NUMBER OF BEDS WE HAD. THEY WERE NOT VERY HELPFUL WITH OUR INCONVENIENCE! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Ok hotel for the price"
I only paid $50 for a one night stay here and I'm glad I did! The staff was very nice and helpful, but the hotel needs a serious remodel. I felt like I was stuck in the 50's from the lobby to the room. Old elevator, old fixtures, old decor,...just very out dated. The TV was a 32 inch tube from the 80's I think. The king size mattress looked like it […] had caught on fire on a corner by a cigarette burn long ago. Bathroom was very nice, but there wasn't much for toiletries. One little bar of soap and a little bottle of shampoo. I would definitely not pay more than $50 a night to stay here. Look elsewhere in a better neighborhood. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Probably won't stay there again"
As a single traveling business woman, I was a bit disturbed to be asked for money at 9:30pm at night upon arrival by a man claiming he needed gas money in the parking lot while I was getting out of my car. Thank goodness another male guest pulled up beside me and provided me some safety. After checking in and being told that some scam artists are calling […] rooms, posing as the front desk, and asking for credit card numbers I was again a bit put off. I certainly appreciated the heads up but that was a bit strange. Then the room I was given had the double strike of the elevator and the ice machine about 10 feet away from my door. I heard ice clinking all night. The coffee maker took a half hour to brew a small pot of coffee and no replacement came when I left a note for housekeeping. My heat wasn't on in the room when I arrived and it was freezing so when I left the next morning, I left the heater on. I was pleasantly welcomed with a nice warm room when I returned that night but the window was left wide open by hotel staff for some reason. With the window open, I heard 3 "arguements" by people in the parking lot. in addition, the heater in the room was the "old" radiator type that is super loud. Overall, even though I got a great rate, I won't go back. Too many things raised a red flag with me and it wasn't a comfortable 2 night stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"great for the money"
Hotel was clean and priced right, the breakfast was good and the staff was nice and helpful. Easy on and off the freeway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Stayed three nights. Overall I would recommend this hotel. The only problem is that while we were staying, they were replacing carpeting in the halls. It was a bit noisy when hammering in tack strips in front of our door. The side entrance door was not secured (the outside was being remodeled and the door locking mechanism wasn't working). The maid […] didn't replace used towels or make up our bed on one day and we ran out of kleenex. I would stay here again, but hope some of the deficiencies above would be overcome by then. Rates were reasonable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We wanted a room close to the Tacoma Dome with a pool. Quite pleased with experience all in all. Delighted when we realized the pool was salt water instead of clorine. Lots of choices for breakfast. Enjoyed our stay!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Quick on and off of I-5"
Was a little worried when I arrived on a Sunday evening and there were almost no cars in the parking lot. Was assured it would be busier on Monday and it was..whew! Hotel room was more modern than the hall and in decent shape. Older facility.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel for family and business"
It was a geat stay for the most party. Breakfast started at a normal time but ended early each day at 9am. When we went down to breakfast at 8:30 most everything was gone already. The pool is nice. A little cold, but nice. The heating/ac unit in the room was noisy but worked just fine. All in all, a great stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't stay in Tacoma"
I would not recommend to this place to anyone and would not stay in Tacoma again. The toilet would not work, the bathroom fan made an annoying sound when it was on, the room was dirty, the TV is dated and had horrible reception and the location of where this hotel is is very scetchy. The continental breakfast was subpar and the place is under contruction […] which I was not aware of untill I arrived. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
