Ariston - Rome

The hotel personel were very nice and helpful. The rooms were comperable to american rooms. The location right next to the terminal station is awesome. Lots of resturants nearby. Would stay there again. The only negative was the squeaky elevator.

This hotel was a block from Termini and is a perfect place to stay if you are taking the train out of town or to the airport. Also easy access to the metro for quick (2 stop) trip to the Forum and the Coliseum and on to other sites (Termini is one of the few places where there is a metro stop that has both lines).. On arriving our directions were mixed and we finally found that the hotel was a very short walk from the Rome train entrance. We could not have been a better location. The Hotel is ideally situated one block away from the Termini train station and also the shuttle buse stop that operates from fiumicino airport. Hotel is located close to Termini station a 5 min walk. Close to all attractions. You can even walk to some. Santa Maria magiorie a 5 min walk. Breakfast included was excellent. Eggs,bacon, breads, cheeses, juices, fruits etc.. Internet was not included but cost only 7 euros for 24hours. Bed are not comfortable. They do not turn on AC. Room got hot […] and it was winter cannot imaging how it gets during summer. I didn't minded. Walls are to thin able to hear every single noise if you know what i mean. The hotel is very outdated. But it is not that bad unless you are use to expensive hotel. This was a 4 stars hotel but in USA standards would be a 3 starts. I am a women traveling on my own and I felt safe walking at night from hotel to trains or bus station. Did not ate at any of the surrounding restaurant but there is plenty to choose from. This hotel is really just a block away from the metro and rail service so even if the surrounding neighborhood is not great, you are minutes away from taking in the sights of Rome. When we first checked in the first person to greet us was a little short with us for some reason. Later when we interacted with her she was fine. The place is clean and located a block from the train station. Despite this, the hotel and rooms are quiet. There is some noise from adjacent rooms, but nothing overly disturbing. The bed was rock hard, think […] box spring with a sheet over it. My GF found it ok to sleep on, but I am big guy and it was not good. Luckily I had brought an inflatable mattresses that camper use and this made the bed perfect for me.The complimentary breakfast was great. Read previous reviews and yes, the elevator was small and the bathroom was small, however, this is Europe and most places don't have the same size elevators and bathrooms as in the States. We went to Rome, Pisa, Florence and Venice and this was my favorite hotel.

The Ariston had an emergency and our room was still occupied. They moved us across the street to their sister hotel -- the Morgana -- and provided free breakfast and free (if unrelable) WiFi. The Morgana has a nice lobby and small but comfortable rooms. It is convenient to the subway and the train staion.

The Ariston definitely has put many euros into their lobby/bar decoration as they have a very sophisticated/modern style decoration as soon as you enter. But to say that style and decoration follows into the room would be an absolute lie. We had booked a triple room, and walked into a room with a queen bed and a mattress placed on top of a chaise lounge. […] Unfortunately the room design involved a chandelier that was right on top of our bed and poorly attached to the ceiling. In the room above us, some kids were jumping throughout the night, and the chandelier shook so much that it even somehow knocked out the lights in the room. The rattling of the chandelier well into the night prevented us from getting the sleep we paid too much for. I understand that kids will be kids, and they should be free to jump, but the unfortunate design of the room meant that our ceiling vibrated the whole time. The front desk was as helpful as they possible could be though, as they were completely booked. But one lie was blatant in their explanation, as they claimed they had never heard of this happening in our room before. Upon closer examination, I noticed that a couple of decorative glass pieces from the chandelier had already fallen off the whole piece, indicative of a history of this vibration in the past. Other than that, the bartender was extremely friendly, the complimentary buffet and breakfast buffet were more than enough. Just be truthful with your patrons. Read more

If you are traveling by train this is a great location. A five minute walk to the Rome Termini, the tourist buses, small market, ATM and gelato. Who could ask for more. There are a lot of tourists in the area so dining can be a bit disappointing. We tried a few places, but they were all overpriced and not very good. The offering are fairly hearty so we ended up eating a larger lunch while we were out during the day and in the evening sat in the bar and made a light supper out of the food offered by the hotel. I have to say the bartender was very nice, and welcoming, which was a plus. The hotel also offers a breakfast buffet which is not grand, but decent. The rooms and bathroom were both acceptable sized. The shower was a bit on the small side. the beds were comfortable enough and the room was air conditioned. Tiny - really tiny - room. The bathroom is so cramped. It is a real surprise that it is listed as a four star hotel. Definitely not by US standard. Breakfast buffet is good. Friendly service is a positive factor.

I tried these "mystery deal" from Expedia and was not happy with it. Rooms were mediocre, they charge for internet and then it failed, I complained and they did not charge me. The stay in Ariston was very nice, although the rooms (singly room) was a bit small but it had enough facilities to enjoy the stay. The place is very convenient to the Termini train station and other transportation in Rome, and the service and cleaness was good. I recommend this hotel for a short stay (2 to 3 night) especially for tourism purposes.

It felt like more as a 2/3-star hotel at most. I'm a sole traveller, and they gave me that single-bed room which was so tiny that there's practically no walking space within the room. The room was quite worn-out/old and only got a window that's so small that the sun can't even shine in!! Anyhow, the switch nor the temp control in the room were faking! The air-con was controlled outside in the central maintenance room!! It was convenient, clean, and staff was knowledgeable. But it was way too HOT and they couldn't seem to get the A/C working--it was blasting out heat. Opening the windows made it noisy and there wasn't a breeze, so that didn't help. Otherwise, it was fine.
