I have stayed here on numerous occasions. I have never been disappointed. The rooms are always clean & the beds are very comfortable. I will definitely be back. I didn't get a chance to have the breakfast this time but I have had it before & was pleased.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff were helpful and friendly. Furniture in room was comfortable but needed cleaned. Air/furnace unit needed some work, could not get the room to cool down.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Breakfast was poor. Light bulbs in room were not all working and only had one lamp working - and it wasn't close to the bed. Getting to the hotel is a little tricky.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Holiday Inn is clean , staff is friendly, conveniently located near I- 696 and nice romantic get away spot!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bright lights all night and noisy."
The staff was wonderful, but the room was not the greatest.Genuine Expedia guest review
I've stayed at this hotel with my family before, and I think it must have undergone a change in management. I like that the rooms are suites--with small children, it helps having a second room--and that there is a decent sized refrigerator. However, things did not seem as clean, and the breakfast left something to be desired. The price is generally […] good, but I think I would pay $10 more a night to stay at the Embassy Suites. "Nice holiday inn express"
It was nice there. I especially liked the way the room were set up we have a separate living area other than the bedroom. So we could relax while the kids played in the other room.Genuine Expedia guest review

"ok for the price"
Generally a clean property but could use some freshening up. Room completely lacked any decorating, and was not overly appealing to the eye.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Do not recommend"
This hotel is gross, with gross clientele in a gros neighborhood. Elevator was filthy and never vaccumed, the breakfast was not worth the price, which was FREE! There are no good restaurants around unless you like eating at a dirty TGI Fridays that blares loud rap music so loud that you can't have a conversation. Also, there were food streaks on our […] walls that weren't cleaned off. There were loud kids running up and down the halls knocking on doors and the walls are so thin I could hear the loud annoying lady next door screaming at the television. Overall, I highly do NOT RECOMMEND! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to class at AIAG building"
Friendly staff. Clean Toilet could have flushed better. Would have liked a regular lounge chair in the room. Kitchen was nice, but kind of don't need the cabinets waste of money and space taken...would rather have a chair or sofa to sit on. Restaurants were good and close. I would stay here again if need be.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A quality hotel stay."
The pool was clean and open until 11. Breakfast was the standard "Continental". This is one of the nicer ones in the Southfield area for bringing the family for a business trip.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent, clean, friendly staff"
We travel to Detroit at least once a month to see our college daughter. I have struggled to find a clean, comfortable hotel for a reasonable price. We definitely found it with this one. I was amazed at how spacious the suites were. They were very clean and the building appears brand new inside and out. The breakfast bar was tastefuly done and the staff […] very courteous. The only drawback we experienced was the hot tub broke the next morning and the maintenace man could not get it working. Overall, excellent stay!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The signing out procedure was a staged way to take 150.00 for room fees, its clearly was donr in my case. Holding funds on my card when I checked in and hold was put on the card for 3-5 days, there was nothing stating that wld be done.. IT shows for smoking in rm 150 will be charged. My son left a pack of cigarettes and his I.D. in the rm and had to […] go back in the rm to get it, they let him back in and never reported a smell of smoke or anything. No one every called me of a problem, when I tried to use my card I found they had held charges for the room due to smoking.. If It was the case it sld be brought to my attension, The cleaning ppl or other staff cld have been in on it, I just warning any one staying, beware of this sceme, there are cameras to see who smoke and u will be targeted to possibly get you for that 150 fee.. "good clean stay near LTU"
Went to pick up our son from LTU. Friendly service, clean rooms but pool water is cold as christmas.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Came back to Southfield to visit family for a few days. We stayed for three nights. The room was filthy. There was syrup all over the floor and sofa and the room smelled like it also. The bathroom floor was not clean. The cleaning staff did not remove the trash, the refrigerator did not cool and the miniature sink in the kitchenette had a slow drain. […] The manager's reception consisted of chex mix and a couple of two liters and the breakfast was options were poor. The fruit was old and the coffee was weak. We went across the street to a coffee shop each morning because of the poor quality. We picked this hotel for the amenities and location. Location was the only reason we decided to stay after the first night. Oh yeah...the pool was closed the first day. That night we saw them cleaning it with ajax. Never again! One gripe: the reservation was for two beds plus sofa fold out (for my two adult sons and myself). At check in we were advised that combo did not exist, either 1 King plus sofa or two Queens and no sofa. The breakfast bufet was very good especially as included in price. The indoor was was clean but the ventilation was such that the air smelt overly […] chlorinated. Overall: good stay- we stayed for 6 nights. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The room had a lamp that was missing. The remote control for the tv batteries would not stay in place and the lamp that was workin needed to be plug in and out in order to turn it off and on. Overall the stay was okay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

This hotel is prefect if you would like a suite with a queen sofa bed. If you don't need the sofa bed, you shouldn't be staying here since for the price you have a lot of other choices.Genuine Expedia guest review

We visited our son for a long week end and decided to stay at this hotel. I was quoted a price per day, but they failed to inform me that the price went up by $ 30 on monday. The room was ok, the walls thin...kids running in the corridor half the night. Revelers in the parking lot at 3 am. Loud talking in the hall ways and door slamming til 4 am.. the free breakfast was nothing special, the attendant a bit huffy. The road leading to the hotel was full of pot holes, had to let the car just roll, but that is not the hotel's fault. I dont think we will stay there again

I want to start by saying the staff was friendly but, a little indifferent when it came to certain matters. My hotel room was very dated (although I was told by the staff prior to arriving that it was newly renovated), the sleeper sofa was stained and broken. They did change my room without a problem however the new room was semi-clean corners dusty, smudges on the wall,, the bathroom floor grout was brown although you can tell by the grout around the perimeter it was originally white. And my blanket had (I believe) bodily fluids which they did apologize and changed it immediately. The printers in the business center only one of the 3 was connected correctly but no one could assist in fixing it, two of the three ice machines where out of order. I would say that my stay was a little disappointing and we left a day before scheduled.

Our stay was made very pleasant by the front desk staff, specifically Ms. Martinez. She went above and beyond her duties. We had a special convention over the weekend and they seemed understaffed and unprepared for the amount of people coming down for breakfast. The hotel was booked. Ms. Martinez jumped right into action. She not only staffed the front desk, but also took care of our breakfast needs! I needed some directions to downtown as I left my maps at home, she not only asked me where I was going, but even printed out the directions for me all with a smile on her face. She never once complained that she was there alone. We realized that there was no one there to give her a hand ( I just assumed that someone called off that day and left her short handed to deal with breakfast as well as the front desk), so a few of us helped out in removing the trash from the containers, and putting in fresh trash bags. That is the least that we could do. I want to add that she did not ask us to do this, but we wanted to offer some assistance to her. I am sure that this was quite overwhelming even on the best of days. I just want to commend her for going way beyond what was required and my stay was made better because of her. Thank you.... The only downside that I can say is that the sausage links seemed almost freezer burnt and very dry. Also we had to use the sleeper sofa for my girls and the plastic cover that they used for the mattress was very old and had been torn so many times in the past that they used TAPE to keep it together. Not a good choice. Housekeeping must have not checked this because when we opened up the couch we found not only food wrappers under the couch, but food crumbs on the mattress where the plastic cover had been torn in several places. In the bedroom only one lamp worked, the one closest to the window despite the other one being plugged into the outlet. Again, we didn't complain, but it would have been nice to have had both lamps working. Only one closet door really worked, as the other one wouldn't close unless you had to manually lift the door and try to close it. Also only one of the phones in our suite worked. (The other two: the bathroom, why would you need one there?, and the living room didn't really work unless you played with the cord on the back of the phone) Maintenance seemed to be working almost right outside our window on the roof of the second floor, as we were on the third floor, but they left tools lying on the floor a few feet right in front of the elevator doors. Again, that could potentially be a lawsuit just waiting to happen is someone trips over these. Something for them to reconsider as to safety of the guests.
"Great location, comfortable stay"

I have stayed at this hotel a few times for business and was pleased each time. My room was clean and could not hear much traffic noise despite being near the expressway. Breakfast was good, typical of the chain. I will definitely stay again next time I am in the area.
"Lovely hotel in Southfield!"
This 3 storied Holiday Inn Express has wonderful staff. They don't let anyone into the breakfast area without proper footwear and are only too happy to print out boarding passes for you at the front desk if the guests' printers don't work. The rooms are large, though a bit dreary looking (dark green is not a favorite of mine), but the amenities (such as separate living room, refrigerator , microwave and sink) more than make up for the color scheme. The breakfast is prepared fresh each morning by staff who greet you with a "good morning" and ask if they can help you. Waffles, french toast, cereals, eggs, yogurts, sausages and grits along with assorted toasts and muffins are the excellent choices to be had. This is a very popular hotel and is always filled with people entering the elevator from the swimming pool area, but the guests usually are quiet in the halls. Because the bedrooms are in the back away from the hall area, sleep is usually fine. The walls are, however, very thin and my husband was awakened every morning by the alarm from the room next door. Even with the slight drawbacks, this is an excellent choice for the Southfield area, easily accessible from the Northwestern Highway. I will be back!

Nice property. Great staff. Spacious clean rooms. A little unexpected in a positive way but wasn't expecting a kitchen with full fridge. Overall a great experience. The free breakfast was good also with pancakes made to order.
"Not typical Holiday Inn experience"
03/23/14 somemo32 Saginaw, Michigan
I guess I will get my positive comments out of the way. The property looked nice on the outside and the bed was really comfortable. However, while looking for a plug behind the nightstand to plug my cell phone charger into, I saw half a piece of pizza that housekeeping somehow missed when they where cleaning the room. When we went down for the continental breakfast an hour before it was supposed to be over, there really was nothing left and they weren't replacing the items that had run out. Though the hotel can't control the guests (I suppose) the whole environment just was ratchet. We were part of a group that had a block of rooms and some of the other group members heard people arguing for a couple of hours at night and were unable to sleep. Then they were not informed that a church service would be going on beneath their room in the morning, so they were awakened by the music and from the service. While security did come up to the room and remove the pizza (as we didn't want to move our stuff to another room), based on the entire experience, it's not a place that I would recommend anyone stay, nor would I stay there again in the future.
"Looks nice from afar but the overall an awful experience."

First I was checked into a room that reeked of smoke. The smoke alarm had been tampered with - there were paper towels stuck to it that you could tell had been wet, stuck on the smoke alarm and since dried. The smell was so obvious that I can't believe it went unnoticed. There was also one bar of soap in the bathroom that had been opened and wet so cleaning was not done very well. I changed rooms. Second room smelled better. I did notice that there was a lot of small hairs behind the faucet handles in the bathroom sink. Like someone had trimmed their hair or something. Just a small detail that the cleaning people obviously missed. The rooms are very noisy. The furnace/heater in the bedroom makes loud noises all through the night. You can also hear a ton of noise from outside on the street and neighboring rooms including across the hall. Finally, one night I came back to find every single parking space full. Handicapped parking was full. Cars were parked on the curbs and illegally everywhere, even on the snow piles left from the plows. I could barely get my car close enough to drop off my wife and 2 year old son before having to park at the shopping center across the street and walk back in sub-zero weather. There was apparently something going on in the conference room. The hotel behaved as if this was completely normal so I don't think this is an uncommon thing. I could not wait to get out of this hotel.
"Poor customer service"

On February 18th I was asked to park across the street due to the parking lot being full due to an event they were hosting. They said I could move my car to the hotel lot after 10:30 PM. Meanwhile the general manager parked under the hotel awning with a sign saying it was his car so it would not get towed for being in a fire lane. I complained to them but they didn't care. You should not host events if you don't have room for your paying hotel guests.
