"Not worth what I payed."
Little disapointed for what I payed. First shock was the cost per day parking plus tax. I'm glad I only stayed 1 day or we would have left at that rate. Over all this is a nice place to stay, I would stay again. The pluming could use some work the shower leaked and sprayed water all over. I have stayed at the Vanderbilt Marriott at least 8 times and have always had excellent service to compliment its terrific beds and spotless rooms. For me, the valet service, the size and quality of the rooms, and the food are better than the Loews, and the prices are also lower. Right outside the front door is a PF Chang, and around the corner are […] lovely shops, more dining, a Starbucks (even though, the Marriott has a Starbucks concession), and a Barnes & Noble that doubles as the Vanderbilt University bookstore. The advertised daily internet charges and breakfast buffet were higher than indicted on the website. There is no longer a seafood restaurant in the hotel. My friends and I stayed at the Marriott Vanderbilt for two nights while in town for a concert. The location was just a couple minutes drive from the touristy downtown area and close to the interstate which puts you a short 15 minutes or so drive to the Grand Ole Opry area. There was a free shuttle that was offered to the downtown area, as well. Parking […] was expensive at $24/day for self parking and $26/day for valet. The staff was fairly nice, even though they were a little snooty. We arrived ahead if schedule and tried to check in at 3:30. Our room wasn't ready, so we had to wait. There were many others waiting in the lobby for rooms as well. The staff said our room should be ready by 4:00, which is normal check in time, and asked for my cell so they could call us when our room became available. We waited patiently while the lobby cleared and people who arrived after us where assigned rooms. A little after 4, I asked the staff at the desk if our room was available, and it was. We were glad to get settled, but we were a bit frustrated because they hadn't called my cell to tell us it was ready as they said they would. Over all, the hotel's appearance was nice. The lobby and little bar area are up to date, but our room was slightly dated and showed some disrepair. If had not been vacuumed well, either. Classy hotel, great staff of valet parkers who also run the shuttle service to get you downtown or wherever you need to go, airport, etc. Breakfast had made-to-order omelets and lox - very nice. "Parked, then left & returned without having to pay"
We read several reviews that warned about the expense of parking at this hotel, but we ended up parking free of charge. We arrived at 3:00 p.m. on a Saturday and found a spot in the street-level lot that hotel guests share with local retail customers. We left at 5:00 p.m. and, upon our return after 10:30 p.m., found plenty of unoccupied spaces in the […] same lot. The hotel itself was very clean, and our room and bed were very comfortable. Service at the front desk was prompt and efficient. My only complaint (and only reason for not assigning an overall rating of 5) is due to our experience at the hotel bar, where the bartender pretty much ignored us and then overcharged us.
