"Crestwood Suites was SWEET."
Excellent value. Rooms inside. Luggage carts provided. Perfect for several day stay because of large refrigerator, stove, dishes, etc. NO free breakfast. I see a lot of complaints about bed bugs and whatnot, but we did not experience any in the two nights we stayed, on the contrary, mattresses were brand new. Staff is relaxed but alert to your needs. "Oh god the smell..."
I stayed at this hotel about 6 years ago and was generally satisfied. Unfortunately, the state of the hotel has declined severely. I will say the location is convenient because it is right off of 183 N. That's the only positive thing. Check in was easy and the guy at the front was nice. The moment we left the lobby we were met with a strange smell. […] The elevator took way too long for a hotel with only 3 floors. We ended up taking the stairs and regretted it immediately. We figured out that the strange smell was URINE. The entire stairway smelled of urine and even though we only walked up one floor I still had to cover my nose. The hallway was just as bad. Add a musty smell to the urine smell and you have a nose hair burning smell. The walk to the room was 5 times longer than the stairway so that smell was just lovely as we were walking to our room. The room was generally clean minus some stains all over the counters. The A/C worked, thankfully, as well as the (surprising) flat screen TV. We ordered pizza and it came right to our room so that was nice to not have to endure that smell again. The following day when we were leaving, the hotel was pretty warm which tripled the urine smell which was unbearable until the moment you walked into the lobby. The room ended up being cheaper than I had thought so that was also a plus. All in all, you are getting less than what you pay for. I will never stay at this hotel ever again. "2 star hotel that needs new cleaning staff."
The staff was friendly and helpful, but our first room had a dirty bathroom with hair on the sink and floor and a filthy toilet. We were quickly relocated to another room that was bigger, but the couch was very dirty (we would never sit on it) and the box spring was old and torn. I thought it was curious that the gentlemen at the front counter >didn't< ask for my license plate number. That turned out to be the least of my worries. The hotel is undergoing renovations. This is a hard one to write. Firstly, it's a bit hidden from the highway, though once you find it you'll likely adapt to getting in and out pretty quickly. The lobby looked nice enough, but the hallways look pretty drab and no frills. Now the room, which initially looked very impressive, as it's large and spacious with a full kitchen, ended up being […] quite uncomfortable. I barely slept. The bed was average, but the AC unit had me up and down all night long. It was either too cold or too hot, never just right. The unit was pretty cheap-looking, and the output matched. I was only there one night, but not sure I would have wanted to chance staying longer. As I said, I barely slept. "Disappointment in Austin"
Hauled my clothing a long distance to a 2nd floor room after riding the slowest elevator since the original Otis whose key would not work in the door. Upon returning to the desk and requesting a room closer to the elevator I was given a room close by the office on the first floor. I thought things might be looking up. After unpacking I discovered the […] end table next to the bed was sticky. I spent the next half hour cleaning the room. I went to the desk to request two extra pillows and was informed there were not any but maybe in about two hours. Two hours later I was able to obtain one pillow. "What a nightmare!"
I made a reservation for only one night (thank God), because I needed to take a test early in the morning the next day. The bathroom (which was literally disgusting) was designed for a person in wheelchair, it had all the equipment and everything, the curtain was not long enough and there was no long enough and there was no bath (YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT […] THERE WAS NO BATH) and the whole disgusting floor of the so-called bathroom got soaked with water every time anyone had to take a "shower" from a dripping showerheard that came off when I tried to adjust it. Additionally, the toilet was not working and you had to actually lift the tank cover and manually lift the lever so it flushes. I asked for another room and they told me they were overbooked. Booked online, got to hotel and had to wait almost an hour because my reservation was not showing up in their computer system. Called Expedia and they confirmed that the reservation was set, and even called and faxed over info to confirm. BUT the kid at the front desk didn't care. He had no interest in helping.
