"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.
""Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.
"Nice hotel in the theatre district"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel in the theatre district. Friendly and helpful staff. Basic room accomodations but very clean. Would recommend.

"great stay"
Staff was very helpful. The umbrelas offered were a very nice touch and much appreciated. Afra was very friendly and professional and George as porter and bellman was attentive and helpful. Please thank them and all the staff for a nice stay.

"Hotel Chandler in New York - A Simple Good Hotel"
Hotel Chandler is newly renovated, so it is good shape. Our room, was small (which was fine, no surprise), it was clean, nice decor. We arrived to a hand written note, small bottle of wine and a piece of chocoloate. There was turn down service, valet parking, and a really comfortable bed. Only negative was that we were given a handicap accessible room […] (without being told that by the front desk). All in all, a pretty great hotel -- solid 4 stars. Read more
"Everything you want in a hotel"
Great location. Attentive and friendly staff, Clean, comfortable rooms. We were here for a romantic weekend, and the hotel was ideal. We will definitely choose this hoel again.

"Central - very close to the Empire State Building"
The hotel is all in all fine, partly aged which is not necessarily a bad thing as it gives the hotel a certain flair. The room was quite small with the window heading to the backyard, which means no view, but quite quiet for such a central location.
"Cozy rooms, great service in a fabulous 'hood"
As expected of most boutique hotels in vintage NY buildings, our king bed room was... cozy. :) The room had good upgrades and was very clean. The staff was extremely prompt, kind, and helpful. The neighborhood itself was spectacular. A quiet street right off 5th in midtown??!! Great neighborhood feel so close to countless amazing restaurants, bryant […] park, the public library and shopping. Only complaint? The painfully slow elevator. Small price to pay for a reasonably priced hotel in a great location. We would certainly stay there again. Read more
"Nice room, friendly staff"
I was altogether pleased with Hotel Chandler. The staff was friendly, and the room was nicely appointed. It was within walking distance of the office at which I was working, as well as some great restaurants and theaters. If I had a complaint, it's that my room tended to be a bit too hot, and the breakfast offerings were lackluster. But overall I was […] quite happy with my stay. Read more
"Comfortable, Great Location"
The Hotel Chandler seems to have been recently renovated, the rooms are small but cozy with top of the line amenities -- Aveda toiletries, decent towels, comfy beds, enough pillows, and nice bedding, flat screen tv. It's a great location, near the New York Open Center, and Empire State Building, walkable to Penn Station. Staff were friendly and professional, […] and I got an especially great rate through Hotels.com which made it even more of a wonderful stay. I would definitely stay here again. Read more
"Good not Great, worth staying at"
This hotel is in between a holiday express and a boutique hotel. Don't expect the design elements to compete with some of the other boutique hotels in Manhattan. Things we loved...The oversize towels and bathrobes, the extremely comfortable beds, the hotel staff, the shower head, great minibar, awesome bell hops. Was great to stay here and then walk […] over to the Ace Hotel about a block or so away for better ambiance. When the bar is done, the Chandler is supposed to have a killer happy hour...$3 beers...which is pretty hard to find in NYC. This hotel is extremely cozy...better for the business traveler than a honeymoon getaway or other special occasion. The staff upgraded our room when we arrived..that was lovely. Read more

"Fine location, interesting and quaint"
A comfortable and lovely boutique hotel. The room was small but nicely appointed in a nice and convenient location. Can quibble that the placement of shower controls don't make sense and other small items, but overall a very pleasant NY experience.
"Cozy"
Room was very clean, cozy and comfortable!
"Stay at Hotel Chandler"
Great hotel. The lobby and lounge/bar was under construction but the rest of the newly renovated hotel was fabulous. Great, posh room and friendly staff. Close to the metro and within walking distance from Penn Station. Will stay again!

"Hotel Chandler is conveniently located"
Small pleasantly furnished accomodations conveniently located for shopping and theater district
"good but not great"
Staff is great, but 2nd visit not as good as first. Seal on shower door didn't work, and bathroom flooded. AC/heater fan didn't work so no air circulating in room, and they didn't fix it during my 4 day stay. Red light behind TV would suddenly come on and flash in middle of the night. Breakfast was in a converted room during renovs, and smell of brewing […] coffee was overpowering when it drifted thru the vents at 5am. No place in room to hang winter coat (chiffoniere only hangs short items like skirts). Read more
"It was like a war zone!"
This whole booking was a disaster as was the hotel, neglecting to inform hotels.com or prospective guests that they were currently undergoing considerable renovations. The Benjamin and hotels.com saved the day!
Thank you for your review. I wish to confirm that notifications regarding the now completed remodeling were posted on Hotels .com website at the time of this booking by the hotel and by Hotels.com. Thank you!
1 response by Hotel Chandler"Great hotel!"
We found the best deal on this hotel and could not have been happier. If you have children, it is probably not the best place because of the room size. Perfect for 2 people who will just be sleeping there. There was a nice & spacious bathroom in the room, which I have heard is not something you can always count on in NYC. Rooms were neat, quiet, and […] comfortable. I will definitely stay there again! Read more
"Hotel chandler new york"
Nice furnishings. For a "deluxe" room it was very small.could barely walk around the bed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again if rooms were bigger.

"Repeat customer"
I stay at the Chandler a few times a year and always have a great experience. The staff is exceptional, the rooms, although small (this is NYC!), are clean and comfortable. I only rated the condition of the hotel as a 4 due to the ongoing construction in the lobby, which is nearly finished but in no way will interfere with your stay.
"Gracious Staff & Well Appointed"
The hotel is lovely and the staff was very pleasant and attentive. I just still haven't acclimated to how small NYC hotel rooms have become. Not being one of the rail thin beautiful people of the metropolis I need a little more breathing/walking space between the desk chair and the bed... my leaping days have passed. Other than that it was great and […] I'm sure it will be even more beautiful once the renovations in the lobby are complete. Read more
"Nice Space - But Noisy"
The hotel was well kept and the room comfortable and nicely appointed. The biggest issue was noise. Being on the 3rd floor put us near the street where the noise incredibly intrusive. Other than the noise it was a great value for a night in NYC.
"Clean & convenient - a good value"
A comfortable boutique-type hotel within 3-4 city blocks of Penn Station/Madison Square Garden. Rooms are small but immaculately clean and well-appointed (Frette linens, etc.), though you may have to search for some amenities (e.g. hairdryer in drawer of wardrobe). Immediate surroundings are average for this part of midtown - not an attraction, but […] not a problem for a single woman either. Undergoing renovations to the lobby on recent visit, but there was an unadvertised complimentary continental breakfast on second floor. Overall, a very good value in NYC. Read more
"Lobby under construction-still good option"
The room floors were clean and quite. The rooms were well maintained with flat screen HD TV's and wireless access which worked. Entrance was under construction during my initial visit; however, the experience was positive so I returned.
"Hotel Chandler in NY"
stayed here over christmas holiday. alot of construction in lobby, but room was decent
The hotel was wonderful. It had the largest towels I've ever found in a hotel.
"Hotel Chandler"
Very nice hotel.Room was a little small, but comfortable and clean. Lobby was being renovated.Complimentary continental breakfast and wine and cheese in the afternoon were nice touches. Would stay here again.

"Great hotel"
Room and service was great, just the showers were a bit of a pain because the water kept leaking out onto the floor. Other than that, great service and stay. Everything was easily accessible.
"Good clean hotel undergoing renovations"
The Chandler is a good quality hotel in a convenient location. They are redoing the lobby area but compensated with a nice and free buffet breakfast . Rooms are good size for NYC
"The Hotel Chandler in NY"
Very nice hotel, paid extra 30$ get a room up gread for two beds, nice room and very quiet. The doorman are also sweet.
"Chandler a find"
I was very happy with my recent stay at the Hotel Chandler. I was concerned at first when I arrived and found the lobby area still under reconstruction from renovations. But the staff was friendly and efficient, and the room was clean and nicely outfitted.
"hotel chandler - lobby is under construction"
As of December of 2011 their lobby was under construction. It looked like it would continue to be for quite some time (they had already been working on it for months). It was a shock to see when we first got there and the whole place (including the room) has at least a slight smell of dust/plaster.
"Hotel Chandler is charming and convenient"
I was looking for a small hotel, centrally located, with excellent service and and a few conveniences in the area. I found it all at Hotel Chandler. The people were extremely curtious and kind -- that goes for the employees and visitors. Although the lobby and restaurant areas were being renovated, there were sufficient areas to lounge in front of a […] fire, tables to work at, and chairs to read by. The complimentary breakfast and wine & cheese was very gracious of them to offer. The room had all the amenities (loved the Aveda products), plush bedding and super shower head. We were only there for a one night stay yet felt at home immediately. Thanks for a lovely stay. Read more
"Great location, easy subway, train access, midtown"
Loved the neighborhood restaurants east and west, hotel staff VERY helpful, temporary construction not a problem for us.
"Pleasently surprising"
Even though they had renovations going on in the lobby, the rooms were not affected at all. Unlike many other 4 star hotels, they offered complementary breakfast and large rooms. I was surprised to see the size of the room they offered despite being in NYC. The prices are very reasonable. Half or third of what you would pay for staying at Times Square […] for much smaller rooms. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful, something very hard to find in NYC. Just a block away from the Empire State building, 2 blocks from Madison Square Garden and 7 blocks from Times square, the hotel is in a perfect location. Close enough to easily walk to all desired places and far enough away from constant noises of time square. There are restaurants of every variety and price range within 1-2 block distance of the hotel. We were very pleased with the experience. I would definitely stay there again. Read more

"Chandler hotel..."
Very clean, sweet, and pretty hotel that I'm sure will be even better once the lounge and entryway are finished with construction. The room felt like a bedroom and not like a hotel room. I was very comfortable and enjoyed my stay. I will be back.

"Excellent but under construction"
When we made our reservations, we did not know that the hotel is in the midst of a renovation. The reception area is under construction (as of 19 Dec 2011) and the lounge and bar are closed. Despite the renovation work, we had a very good stay. Everything else, including service and the room, was excellent. We will probably return to stay in the renovated […] Hotel Chandler. Read more

"Construction almost finished !!"
The lobby was still under major renovation. The new lobby was uncovered during my stay. It is going to be really nice when it is finished. My room was great. The staff was really friendly too. They were so nice about a late check-out for me. I enjoyed the continental breakfast which was included with my room rate because of the construction. The location […] was great-- very convenient to many places in NYC. I hope to stay here again during another visit to the city. Read more
"Heavy Construction, Small Room, TINY Bathroom"
I'm sure the hotel will improve once the construction is completed, but it was a huge nuisance during our stay. Buzzsaws, sawdust... the whole nine yards. They made a lounge on the 2nd floor with comp wine & cheese which was a nice touch considering... but the very strong smell of toxic paint in the hallways was almost too much to bear. The room was […] very small, but adequate - but the bathroom was way too small! Not even any sink space to place a couple toiletries. Very annoying! And with it so close to the bed, if there are two of you, you'd better be comfortable with being very close to the other one on the bowl. Also, we could hear very loudly anytime someone else somewhere was taking a shower. I have stayed in at least a dozen hotels in NYC this year alone, and I would never stay at this one again.
