"Great choice!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Price and location were right. Grounds and maintainance inside and out were above average....flowers blooming everywhere! Front desk friendly and efficient. Room spacious and well appointed with 2 Q beds and new, big, flat screen TV (room 301). Towels were not lush, but there were 4 of them, so no issues!

"2 nights in Vancouver."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Hotel was very clean and new. Hotel is in middle of Chinatown so you won't see many chain restaurants or food other than very traditional Asian.

"West vancouver"
Clean and friendly. Wouldn't stay longer then one night. Needs better bedding and needs to be aired out. Very little light in the room: stayed in one bedroom but it's not a separate room can be separated by blinds.

"Lemons into lemonade..."
Much nicer when they took the pictures, it still holds a slight charm. Grouse chose to redo the restrooms and left the room looking and feeling dated. The location is walking distance from a couple recommened eatery's. Earls being literally around the corner on marine dr is first, next to that is some good vietnemesse food, opposite down capilano is […] a place with great donairs. Driving over lions gate bridge to get to downtown is a breeze. You just need to get used to driving in Canada. Location is very good, the inn as a whole experience is sub par.. Rooms could have been better quality with updated beds, while staff is friendly and helpful. I recommend this place to others and wish people to stop by the shell station, say hi to our buddy debbie if she's working. Friendly local mechants and attendents made our stay much better. Read more

ok hotel great price away from congestion of downtown Vancouver but close enough to see it all. Parking is free. Not a first rate hotel good place just to sleep.
"The Grouse Motel"
The personnel were very helpful especially when we asked for a downstairs room. We were quite pleased with our stay there.

"Grouse Inn- Great hotel close to public transit"
Grouse Inn is a great hotel. Clean rooms, friendly staff and great location! Close to bus stops that go to downtown Vancouver, West Van and North Van. The only things I can think of that were cons to this hotel is the breakfast they offer is very limited, though there are a few places within walking distance that serve breakfast, and the beds were a […] little uncomfortable, I was the only one out of our group that thought so though. Over all I would definitely come back to Grouse Inn and recommend it to anyone wanting to experience Vancouver. They are cheaper than a downtown hotel and much quieter. Cheers! Read more
"Hotel in Vancouver BC"
This is an older propewrty, but is very well maintained for it's age. The staff was very friendly. It was a nice place for the price paid. It was in a very convenient location for my family. We didn't use the pool, but there were many people using it so I guess it was good. The breakfast was minimal. Frozen waffles/ toast & toast. Would have liked to […] see more variety in fruits tha just apples. The suite was odd. The TV was in the far little living room where the sofa was & not in the bedroom area. We had to roll the TV over to the door to watch it. Other than that, the stay was fine. Read more

"grouse inn"
we did not stay here as the room smelled terrible. The not fitted sheet was too small for the bed. The matrass pad was stained. We lost our money on this room. Do not go there! I have never been to a dirtyier, worse motel EVER

"Basic motel, cheap and close to downtown"
The good - free parking and complementary wireless internet access! Close to downtown and stanley park if you're driving, the staff is friendly and helpful The bad - the condition of the room and furniture is old. there was kind of musty odor in the room when we checked in. if you're living on the ground floor it can be noisy. Overall, a cheap hotel […] to spend a night if you're driving. I wouldn't recommend this if you're relying on public transport or if you're expecting a great room condition. Read more
"Very good for low-cost family get-away"
We got exactly what we had hoped for in a low-cost, conveniently located motel. Traffic back into downtown Vancouver accross the Lions Gate Bridge was always heave and a bit of a drag but everything else was fine.
"Fun Playground--uncomfortable beds"
While we were only here 2 nights, the sleeping was tough. The beds were uncomfortable and the room smelled of old smoke. However, the kids were thrilled with the pool and swing set on site. The room was definitely overpriced for what we received.
"Good Value"
Very good value at a relatively cheap price. Quiet, clean, attractive courtyard, friendly staff. Accessible location, close to transit stop and easy drive to downtown Vancouver if you take your car. Complimentary breakfast very poor, but you can't have everything for that price.

"Grouse Mountain Inn Great location for the Price"
This hotel was a pleasant suprise and great location. near the Lions Gate Bridge and on a easy bus line. We were close to everything we came to see, Grouse Mountain, Capilano Suspension Bridge, Downtown, Gastown, Stanely Park. Also a Very clean and quite and location. We will stay there again.
"grouse inn is closw to all must-see sight"
Everything went well during our stay. The front desk people are all nice and helpful. Housekeepers are corteous. The location is at the middle of everything. If you like Grouse mountain like we do, well its only few minutes away. The only thing that made me give them 4 stars are the pillows. They need replacements, too saggy or otherwise just bring […] your own. Read more

"The Grouse Inn in North Vancouver, Canada"
We stayed at this hotel for a 3 days vacation. The room is small for a 2 queen beds. It is old and dirty. The breakfast is terrible, I had the feeling that the breakfast is for the home less people. It is a expensive hotel and the quality is poor. With the money you paid for this hotel you should get a better hotel some else. We will not ever stayed […] at this hotel again. Read more
"Excellent service!"
The staff at the Grouse Inn were very polite and helpful. They let us check into our room several hours early and immediately addressed the issue of an alarm going off in an adjacent room. The location was great and we were easily able to get to the surrounding areas. The hotel is rustic and quaint and I would definitely visit again.
"The Grouse Inn in N.Vancover - convenient location"
We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was, clean, quiet and convenient to where we needed to be, breakfast was great, the time frame for it was just right....if you needed to get up early or later it fitted right in. I would definately recommend this hotel for anyone who needs a nice place to stay that comes at a great price..........from […] RB in Ontario Read more

"Good location but low quality Motel"
Pros: Location is very good. Just across the bridge from stanley park. Cons : Very High Price for a average motel quality. One particular reception staff member was very rude, always. Looked like the owner of the motel. Room maintenance is quite poor. Carpet stains. Paint chipped off on the wall. Furniture was old. And a really old TV. Very limited […] choices in complementary Breakfast. It was just bread, milk, juice and cereals. Read more

"Perfect location in North Shore"
GREAT location if you want to get away from the craziness of Vancouver downtown. The Sea Bus will take you to the Quay and then you'll hop on a city bus that will drop you right off at the hotel. You don't need a car! Heck, we even were able to walk across Lions Gate Bridge into Stanley Park. Very close to Capilano Bridge and Grouse Mountain. Pool was […] nice....room was clean...neighborhood had a nice walking path near the river. The breakfast was very basic, but if you're just a cereal and toast person, then you'll love it. Thumbs up! "Grouse Inn, Vancouver BC"
Our group rented three units for four nights. The description is misleading. No units view Grouse Mountain nor any water. Interiors are dark. Many units are older.
"Great for Exploring North Vancouver"
Hotel is average and continental breakfast is lacking but the location is great. Just minutes from downtown and great hiking. Plus it's right by Inn Congnito which doesn't look much from the outside but the restaurant is worth a visit.
The hotel staff were very helpfull especially helping us to use the public bus system. Once we parked the car, we did not move it as we used the bus and ferry. Room was fairly quiet considering it was so close to a busy road but it was hard to exit the hotel at times, also due to being so close to two busy streets. Was plenty of room for the three of […] us. We enjoyed being able to walk to several restaurants nearby. One complaint would be the bathroom door was hard to open and close Read more
"The Grouse Inn in Vancouver - a convenient bargain"
We stayed here for two nights, and this was a great place to stay. Located just across the Lion's Gate Bridge, it's still easy to get to downtown by bus, taxi, or car, but also close to Capilano Bridge and Grouse Mountain. The rooms are simple and a little old-fashioned, but everything works. The free internet was a little spotty. A big plus: the heated […] outside pool was awesome for a relaxing swim after a day of hiking! And the staff is friendly. Read more
"North Van diamond in the rough"
The location of this little gem can't be beat, within 10 minutes of Capilano and Grouse Mt., Stanley Park, and downtown, but without the DT bustle and $$$. However, be prepared to deal with worn amenities. Some other rooms seemed more updated so your mileage may vary. If you're there to sight-see, and want to save some $$$ (functional kitchen, great […] local markets) this is the place to stay. Not the Ritz, so leave your bath-robe/scented soap expectations at home. Read more

"What Wifi?"
Decent hotel for a weekend stay if you need good wifi though it's a deal breaker. Had to stand against one wall of the room in order to get a faint signal. When I asked hotel staff about it I was told to restart my device so the obviously don't know anything about how it actually works. On the other hand they were very helpful with when and where to […] catch buses and any local information we needed. Breakfast is toast and cereal nothing exciting. Read more
"friendliest staff EVER"
The hotel is in a great location, just a few minutes away by car from the Capilano suspension bridge and Grouse Mountain and just a short drive over the Lion's Gate bridge to downtown. The hotel itself is a little worse for wear...a bit outdated and the room fixtures and furniture have seen better days, but the staff are so friendly and helpful that […] it makes up for the lack of finesse in the guest rooms. Comfy, quiet, good location, inexpensive and nice people--what more do you really need? Read more
"Grouse Inn- Best bang for the buck!"
This was our first trip to Canada and the Vancouver area, and the staff at this Inn are goodwill ambassadors for Canada! Stayed three nights and wanted to stay a week. Standard room with a king bed, fridge and coffeee maker was nice, clean although slightly dated. Not a big deal. The Staff, from management on down to Maintenance and housekeeping were […] all friendly and helpfull, no matter the hour or questiion. The Inn is located on 3 bus routes which makes it easy to get around the city from the north side to downtown. Vancouver has got it together as far as public transportation is concerned. Keep track of your transfer tickets! Did not miss having a car at all! Capilano Suspension bridge and preserve is a 2 mile walk up Capilano Rd. from the Inn and a short bus ride further up the road to the base of Grouse Mountain. Highly suggest making a day trip out of both locations, opting for a late lunch at the Grouse Mountain Resort. Their Nachos are GREAT! Bring your camera and take alot of pictures of the Breathtaking views of Vancouver and the Bay from Grouse Mountain and the Tram! I've rambled on long enough, Grouse Inn is the place to stay in the Vancouver area! We are already planning our next trip for a week stay, just haven't narrowed down the dates. Special Kudo's to Jeff at the front desk! He was very patient and knowledgeable about the ins and outs of the Vancouver area. Without speaking to him before our trip, I believe our experience would have been lackluster. THANKS AGAIN! Read more
"On a Shoestring Budget..."
Overall it was a decent stay. Pros: The pool was heated, which the kids enjoyed. The location was close to where we needed to be. Staff was friendly and responsive to needs. Cons: The hotel could use some updating mostly in the Restrooms. Horrible water pressure from the shower and the water constantly went from scalding to freezing. No happy […] medium between. "A lot for the money"
It was right across the bridge, so it only took about 10 minutes to get downtown. On the first day the hair dryer did not work. In about 10 minutes they had it changed out and I was good to go. Certainly faster than I have experienced in 5 star hotels. A great value for t the price.
"Gateway to Grouse MTN or Capilano Suspension Bridg"
If you're looking for a hotel near Grouse Mountain (For skiing or snowboarding activities) or Capilnao Suspension Bridge, this is a very cool hotel to go by. From downtown vancouver, 1 bus takes you to the hotel and all you need to do is cross the zebra-crossing and you're there. Grouse Mountain 2 buses but clear directions were given. The room itself […] was clean and decent, WIFI internet worked pretty well. The bed was unexpectedly comfortable (given that the price is so cheap I would expect for a rock-hard mattress). We missed the breakfast in the morning because it was way too comfortable and slept in. The hotel is pretty safe. There are restaurants around the area so there's no problems at all if you're hungry in the middle of the night. Read more
