I was originally in room 750 but it smelled of smoke and bathroom facilities did not all work properly. This was a blind booking and I believe I was put in a poor room becuase I used Expedia and paid about $100 a night for a "secret hotel" deal. I complained to the hotel staff the next morning and I was immediately moved to a new room (850) which did […] not smell of smoke, had a robe, a fridge, working bathroom facilities, and lots of little extra's such as soaps, shower cap, a refridgerator with water, and sewing kits. I am extremely dissatisfied that I was put in such a sparse and unkempt room. However, I am extremely grateful that the hotel staff immediately rectified my poor room and gave me a free English Breakfast to make up for the room problems. I would like to know if I was put in such a poor room becuase of my Expedia booking. Read more

We were pleased with out stay. Our room was nice. The staff was great. The staff was pleasant and helpful. It was a bit of a walk from the Kings Cross and we should have taken a taxi, but we rode the bus and the tube every day-very easy, We would stay there again.

Lovely hotel and staff but they charge for wifi and gym use. My family is all atheletic but even for us it was a bit of a walk to both train stations. 20 min at least at a fast clip. You are expected to pay for everything at the hotel whether it is for wi-fi or to use the physical fitness facilities. I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions - on this trip it was with my wife and two small children. We booked a room with two doubles and requested a crib; everything was delivered to our satisfaction. The staff were excellent and the location (close to Kings Cross) ideal. In addition, the hotel has 2 onsite restaurants, a grocery shop across […] the street, and several restaurants within walking distance (important when trying to get kids to sleep and simultaneously arrange for dinner). Overall, our stay with the Holiday Inn Kings Cross/Bloomsbury was OK. Rooms were up-to-date and very clean. But, beware that there are additional charges for items like pool and wireless. Things I/my family didn't like: there was an extra charge for everything! (wireless, pool - expedia didn't mention these charges and we felt a little 'nickle and […] dimed to death'); when we did try to purchase wireless - the front desk could not provide instructions on how to access their wireless service, and was unable to refer us to anyone who did have access instructions; pool/sauna hours are very limited on Sunday; 1 of the 3 elevators was out-of-service so it took longer to get around facility; pillows were very 'flat'/used. Things I/my family did like: the hotel and rooms were spotless/clean; nighttime was actually very quiet... could not here alot of hotel noises; the staff was very friendly, most of them were knowledgeable (see hiccup re wireless in dislikes listed above), and helpful; air conditioning was great, and easily controlled from our room; hotel location was pretty close to the bus line, and had pubs/eateries/grocery within walking distance (many of the pubs had free wireless), the neighborhood around the hotel felt pretty safe and was quite in the evenings, though charming may not appeal to everyone... the neighborhood is very working class and diverse. The internet fees are 5 pounds for an hour, the concierge could give us bus or travel instructions, but knew nothing about restaurants, and our room was not particularly clean. When I reserved the hotel with hotels.com I was informed that I could get a two double beds, but when I arrived it was not guaranteed and the hotel was booked ful. The receptionist took my concern to a manager and a room with a sofa bed was found. I thank them for their service. They did a wonderful job.

Inauspicious beginning: they not only gave away our room to someone else, but let that person sign my credit receipt and reservation! They were very nice about it and did straighten it out (we think), but they didn't really apologize or offer something like free breakfast to make up for the fact that they kept us standing in the lobby for over 30 minutes […] while they tried to understand what they did wrong. And it was 85 outside and no A/C in the lobby (making it about 110 inside the lobby)...awful start. Room was small but just fine for us--telephone didn't work; did not get a wake up call; no A/C-had to keep windows open and listen to the neighbors and alley people all night. And then they had a problem with the fire alarm system so we had to evacuate in the pouring rain to a back alley at night--while they determined it was okay. Newly remodeled--still has some work to do, but it was clean and convenient to Metro..I would stay again sometime, but not for 3-6 months while they get their act together. This hotel is in a residential neighborhood. Hotel is ok, but not convienient to get to from a train station. Closest train station is King's Cross/St. Pancras. I booked this hotel thru Expedia's "unpublished rate" promo - it was supposed to be a 4-star hotel at a great rate. When the hotel was revealed I was very skeptical, but hoped there was actually a 4-star Holiday Inn. NO! This was about what you'd expect from Holiday Inn - tired furnishings & decor (peeling wallpaper from the 1980's, cheap furniture, […] thin, small bath towels), cramped rooms, etc. Plus internet access was very expensive and you had to pay separately for each device. Hotel staff was inconsistent in their info regarding time of taxi rides, international traveler requirements for how early to be at the airport, etc. The hotel was barely on the fringe of the area we requested, and the area didn't seem safe enough to walk from the bus stop at night, so we took taxis after dark. Went on our tour only to find out when I arrived in Paris the next day my money was stolen from the hotel. It was in a very secured area but being in England I did not need Euros. I went for my Euros the day we arrived in Paris and found out someone had gotten into the private area of my suitcase and stolen it. I made a plan to travel to London and Paris during the Christmas season of 2010, and I reserved four hotels for this trip, including Holiday Inn Heathrow and Holiday Inn Kings Cross/Bloomsbury in London. All the cancellation policies of these hotels were that the reservations were non-changeable and non-refundable, which I totally understand under normal […] circumstances. However, there were always some unpredictable changes under nobody’s control. London and other parts of Europe were attacked by a snowstorm in the oldest December in a century. The Heathrow airport was closed, and my flight was cancelled (not by me, but by the airline company). I called several times via Hotels.com to cancel my reservations, and told the Holiday Inn staffs and managers that I wanted to cancel the reservation not simply because I changed my mind or plan, but because it was something under nobody’s control. No matter how I explained, the Holiday Inn staffs were inflexible and refused to cancel my reservation. Meanwhile, I called other hotels to cancel my reservation as well. Langland Hotel in London and The Hotel Aida Opera in Paris cancelled my reservations immediately even if their cancellation policies are exactly the same as that of Holiday Inn. They showed their total understanding of customers’ difficulties caused by such severe weather, and made an exception of their cancellation policy to help customers they really value. I appreciate their understanding very very much. Compared with Langland hotel and Hotel Aida Opera, Holiday Inn Heathrow and Holiday Inn Kings Cross/Bloomsbury showed such cold indifference to customers’ difficulties that I promise I will never ever stay in any Holiday Inn in any part of the world. In addition, according to different business management studies, on average, every unsatisfied customer tells his or her bad experience to at least five other people. Stayed there twice during a 10 day tour of England. Close to King's Cross. Hotel met all our needs, staff very helpful, housekeeping great. Pool, spa, workout area avail for a charge but very nice. Able to store luggage for a small cost. Nice Euro cafe across the street. Easy access to taxi service.

We booked a room for 3 persons. If we didn't leave a note requesting for 3 sets of towels, we got only 2 sets instead. The fridge was out of order, but was never fixed. It's about 10 minutes walk from the hotel to the metro and the Eurostar stations. It's It costs 5 ounds to take a taxi to the Eurostar. It's a very basic hotel, should not be a 4 stars […] hotel. They didn't change our bed linens during the 4 days we stayed there. The hotel is in a good location,and there are grocery stores near the stations. Even with the Air Con on full the room was boiling! For a 4 star hotel i would have expected the hotel to be a bit better looked after. The taps in our room were dirty and covered in lime scale. That being said the beds were comfy with a good choice of pillows. The hotel is right next to a bus stop with regular buses to Kingscross. The hotel room was adequate and clean, but not fancy. We ate in the hotel restaurant and the staff made a few mistakes in our order. The creme brulee wasn't set, but when we complained and said we needed to go, they sent a replacement dessert up to the room. But overall, the food was good and it was fine for the price.
