Traveling with two little kids (5 & 1), we had the junior suite. It was very clean and spacious (paris hotels are notorious for small rooms). Staff were very accomodating, friendly and helpful. Location is great with the RER and metro right outside doorsteps. Starbucks just outside, two malls within blocks and a good shopping area while most major sites are within 30 minute walking. Reccomend.

The room was a little small but had twin beds, desk, chair, closet, and luggage stand. The windows opened and there was a fan available in the room if needed. Good cafes in the neighborhood. Metro station very close. We would use this hotel again.

This was our second stay at Hotel de Vendome and it topped the excellent experience that we enjoyed in November 2010. We were upgraded to a corner deluxe suite for an anniversary trip and welcomed with red rose petals in the room. Every detail of the hotel is first class with a very warm and friendly staff. Breakfast in the room every morning was a luxury followed by a walk in the Tuileries just a block from the hotel. If you're looking for the ultimate elegant boutique Parisian hotel, then you'll find it here. We'll be coming back to this one again. Bon voyage.

Good service and a decent area, very convinent location with a market of all food and goods! 2 mins walk from metro! Just a little far from center paris! Good service and polite reception!

This hotel's décor reflects a literary theme out of respect for nearby intellectual institutions and the Bibliothèque François Mitterand. Vibrant shades of violet and rose harmonize with modern furniture pieces. Complimentary weekday newspapers are distributed in the lobby Lounge. "Unexpectedly Sumptuous"
Tucked into a side street in the 13th arrondissement next to a laundromat, grocery stores, some ATMs, and three metro stations I was so surprised when I saw the quality of the room. I was in a duplex and everything from the beds to the FANTASTIC shower to the decor made me feel as though I spent twice the money. Loved it. Hope to do it again.

"Don't be fooled by the pics - WORST HOTEL EVER!!!!"
The pictures of this hotel are very deceiving. It's the worst service I've ever received. The neighborhood that the hotel was located was far from all the major sites, and the surrounding areas are very 'shady'. The room that I got initially, was not what was reserved...it didnt even have a TV! The smell was gross...like a septic tank leaked. The smell […] was all over the hotel...hallways/rooms...EVERYWHERE! I got another room - which was like pulling teeth! But the new room was just as bad. Not kep up very well, smelly, and just not worth the money. It's rated as 4 stars...a half a star is more accurate of a rating (and thats being generous). I had to stay 1 night in that hotel, but I couldn't sleep...I was scared about what would happen to me if I did. I checked out 1st thing the next day - I had reserved the room for 3 nights. Please do not be fooled by the pics or the positive reviews...this hotel is 'hostel' material. Read more
"Surprisingly Adorable"
We weren't expecting to be placed in a two story suite, so we were especially delighted when we entered the room and discovered a spiral staircase leading to a large bedroom. Even though we had seen the virtual tour, we didn't think that our room was going to be the one we saw. The front desk staff was very helpful and remembered us after checking […] in. "Great for the money"
The hotel was great if you're young and want to be close to the train. The neighborhood was safe. The beds were a little too firm and the hotel cleaning staff really pressed you to leave your room early so they could clean it rather than waiting for you to leave on your own. Other than those two things, an excellent bang for your buck!

A lovely small hotel, nicely situated in the convenient location of the Latin quarter in Paris. It is fairy close to the main atractions - normally takes maximum of 30 min with good metro connections. The hotel itself is very pleasant, clean with lovely and friendly staff. I weas pretty pleased with the Villa Lutece. I personally liked the crazy decor. The room was comfortable and pretty small, but standard in size for European hotels. It was rather far from many of the attractions in Paris, but is was very close (1-2 minute walk) to one Metro stop and a little further (7 minutes) to a Metro stop on another line, making […] it very easy to get around. "An average hotel in a great location"
Hotel was listed as four stars but to be fair I would say it should be three at best. Nice and clean but silly things let it down. Room was small, shower was broken, sink was cracked, tiles on floor were broken and they charged 18 euro as I was checking out for 'hotel tax' that wasnt included at the time of booking.

I was impressed with the reviews and photos of this hotel when I booked, but I was still so pleasantly surprised when I arrive to this gorgeous boutique hotel. It is beautifully decorated, comfortable, and the staff is friendly and very helpful. It's close to St. Marcel metro station which made it easy to get there from Gare du Nord (orange line) where […] I arrived on Eurostar. Only negative is that is not centrally located but then again that may turn out to be a positive for some folks. Friendly English speaking staff. Near Metro and Bus. Metro station (Campo Formio) is directly linked to Gare Du Nord which is a bonus for train travelers. Walking distance to the Seine. Safe and fridge inside rooms. Cable TV with 2 English […] channels (CNN and CNBC). WiFi. Overall, strongly recommended given the big difference in price compared to other 4 star hotels. The hotel is located outside the center of Paris, just outside the Saint Marcel Metro (line 5). It was convientient in the respect that you were only a metro ride from anything, thus location was good. It is not very tourist orientated, so expect to speak a little french. It was not central Paris but was right next to a metro and excellent boulangerie which had delightful pastries and lovely staff. The hotel itself is everything you want if you are in to an 'in-town-out-of-town' feel. The decor was spot on and even entering the building was a spectacle in itself. I wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else (unless I […] had a lot more money to spend obviously) as this was ideal for my girlfriend's birthday, a little weekend in a quaint and romantic little hotel and with hardly a walk at all to the metro. Definately would recommend. I didnt have the food, but was more than happy to pop over the road for an authentic french boulangerie breakfast. Free Wifi downstairs but a hefty charge for in your room (+ poor signal), and also a tax added to your stay at the end were my only negatives. Read more

"Villa Lutece Port Royal is near to metro - Compo F"
The hotel is situated near to Metro but in a silent area. The rooms are very small but the toilets are very clean. The only problem we found is the internet - Paid WIFI was not working for the eitire stay . Wonder why they charged 3.8 Eur extra per room as some taxes over and above the agreed rate booked initially.
"Villa Lutece - a bizarre experience, not 4 stars"
Let's be honest about this hotel. It's not in a library area, its in an area dominated by hospitals and medical facilities. The hotel sits on a street between a medical supplier and a funeral home. The mood of the area is sombre and depressing. The lobby of the hotel is pleasant if a little over-designed and the staff exceptionally nice. The standard […] room that we had was however not 4 stars by any scale that I have ever come across. First of all you have to go back outside from the lobby and through an open courtyard to get to the majority of rooms. Into corridors that had a trendy paint job some years ago that now look garish and worn, into a badly maintained elevator with graffiti scratched into the wood trim. Down a very long and very narrow corridor into our room (318) which had about 750mm (30") all round the bed and a very narrow entrance corridor leading to it. Not enough room for two people to circulate comfortably and little room to put anything. No clock or other alarm mechanism in the room, nothing to play music, a tv with very limited TV channels and pay channels that did not work, a safe that did not work, and a minute bathroom tiled with appaling workmanship. The room was kept clean but the carpets in the corridors leading to the rooms and in the lobby are worn and dirty which is not surprising given the appaling lack of cleanliness in the streets around the hotel. One final thing, though parisien hotels are not known for comfortable bedding, the pillows at this hotel were minute and so lumpy that it was impossible to sleep comfortably on them. This hotel does not warrant a four star rating in my view and I felt ripped off before during and after our stay. Hôtel qui se veut "chic" mais qui commence à vieillir. Pour un 4 étoiles la literie laisse à désirer (couverture en plastique, qui ne tient pas du tout chaud). Si l'on vient pour travailler, mieux vaut l'oublier! La table est faite pour poser une tasse de thé, pas un ordinateur et des livres ; l'éclairage c'est pour la décoration et surtout pas pour […] lire. Es hat ein schönes Flair wegen der bunten aber stylvollen Dekoration. Das Badezimmer war sauber, nur die Decke blätterte ein wenig von Feuchtigkeit. Das Bett war bequem. Die Lage (nach hinten) war sehr ruhig zum ausschlafen.

Das Hotel war sehr angenehm. Wir konnten unser Gepäck sowohl bei der Ankunft als auch beim Auschecken in einem abgeschlossenen Raum deponieren. Das Zimmer war sauber und die Umgebung ruhig. Die Lage des Hotels war zwar ziemlich zentral, man kommt schnell zum Jardin des Plantes und ins Quartier Latin. En el año 2005 este hotel estaba recien remozado y pasamos en el unos días estupendos. Cerca de la estación de Austerliz y bien comunicado por metro. Han pasado 6 años y necesita con urgencia una nueva reforma, se ve todo viejo y mal tratado por el tiempo. El servicio de habitaciones deja muchisimo que desear pues se limitan a estirar sabanas. "Inte ett 4-stjärnigt hotell!"
Vi tyckte inte att detta hotell höll standarden för att vara 4-stjärnigt. Kassaskåpet fungerade inte när vi anlände, och vi fick därför byta rum som vi bad om. Något som ledde till att vi gick från utsikt över gatan och kvarteret till utsikt över ett mögligt tak. Det stod att det skulle finnas badrockar på hotellet men det gjorde det inte.

Für einen Kuztrip ist das Hotel geeignet, entspricht aber nicht dem, was wir von einem 4-Sterne Hotel erwartet haben. Gut ist die Lage zu den Nahverkehrsmitteln (Metro und Bus) sowie die Sauberkeit der Zimmer. Unsere beiden Doppelzimmer waren klein, man konnte gerade um die Betten herumgehen, wobei man immer noch dem einen Stuhl, der in jedem Zimmer […] vorhanden ist, ausweichen muss. Die Möbel waren ebenso wie die die Tapeten schon sehr abgenutzt. Die Waschbecken wiesen lange Risse auf, waren zum Glück aber dicht. Die Klimaanlage - der entscheidende Faktor, um uns für dieses Hotel zu entscheiden - funktionierte nicht richtig .Als 3-Sterne-Hotel mit entsprechendem Preis völlig in Ordnung, als 4-Sterne-Hotel erschien es uns überbewertet. "Villa Lutece in Paris - an experience in itself"
When our family was looking for a place to stay in Paris for just a few days, our foremost criteria were a price we could accept and a location that made it easy to see some of the main sights in Paris. Villa Lutece fulfilled both these criteria, being within walking distance of amongst others Notre Dame and the lovely surrounding areas, and with an […] easy metro route to the Eiffel Tower. That being said, our reason for choosing Villa Lutece over the other alternatives was the unique interior design. It seemed much more interesting than staying at a main stream international chain hotel, and it proved to be wonderfully charming. Especially the rooms that had two small storeys, bedroom in the second-storey, bathroom and hallway in the first-storey (at no extra cost). Hotellet har fire stjerner - og det forstrår man ikke rigtigt. Nok er værelsen ok, badeværelset er passende med både kar og brus. Der er spændende dekorationer på vægge, men morgenmaden er luset. booked more than two weeks ahead. being a couple, asked for a king-size bed, got two queens. asked for a quite room, got the one next to the elevator. asked for high floor, got the second. in the room, the telephone didn't work. just a few 'we're sorry', but no solutions proposed. eventually, they offered breakfast on the second morning. on the 'bright […] side': rooms are not small for parisian standards (however TV is still one of those small-fat-model), bathroom is not bad. lobby is stylish enough.
