"Great for the money"

Hotel was pretty good for the price. It was a business trip so I can't really complain. I did like the fact that it's very close to the highway and surrounded by plenty of stores & restaurants.

The first time I stayed at the Microtel in Union City, the room was satisfactory. My recent stay was a total disappointmen. The room had a very unpleasant odor. I immediately went to the desk clerk and asked for another room since there were other vacancies. But I was given a can of air freshner and told that the room had been closed up for awhile after the carpet had been recently shampooed (he must have been confused because the carpet was disgusting!) and that's the reason for the unpleasant smell. He told me to use the air freshner and turn on the air conditioner to "High" and the smell will go away. To resolve my disatifaction, I should have been given another room! Also, there were some kind of bedbugs (possibly fleas) in the bed. My whole body was itching the next morning, so I took a hot shower to no relief. I have small bumps all over my back, arms, and legs. I will avoid this hotel next time.

Staff was very friendly. Carpet in my room needed shampooing! Should offer more complimentary toiletries. Bed was comfortable!
