"Great stay, couple minor problems."
Great stay. Check-in was quick, staff was friendly. Close to places we needed to go. Dana Clark was absolutely wonderful. Didn't have big towels, went down to the desk, within 20 minutes housekeeping brought up a few. Breakfast was wonderful, good selection. Bed was comfortable. Walls were kind of thin, could hear a child in the next room. The valet […] guys were quick and efficient. Would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Stay was okay"
Everything was okay, kinda wish it was a little more modernized with a refrigerator and microwave. Also the walls are paper thin. Every time the room next to us ran water in the tub or took a shower it sounded like it was running in the wall. And if course the long wait for your car during checkout. But everything is okay. Service is great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Was in a handy location. Nice breakfast, and staff very nice! Was a very busy weekend. Usual I guess for that area, so service was not fast, but they sure tried to take care of everything the best they could.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Perfect for visiting bourbon. Went there for the bowl game and it is walking distance from the dome and basically on bourbon street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Horrible customer service"
Stayed there this past weekend, service was lacking. I carry my shoes in there original boxes. When they cleaned the room the took my shoe box and threw it away. I waited 30 minutes for a manager who never showed up. Will never stay there againGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Hotel is in a perfect location. Price is great. Otherwise, old, overbooked, average breakfast, and no hot water on my last day. 2 stars at best.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel but service is poor."
Four of us scheduled to stay in one room. Only two bath towels. I called the front desk for more bath towels. They sent a guy with a plunger to fix a "bad toilet". I told him I need bath towels and he said he would get them. After 20 minutes, I called the front desk and asked once again. Still after another 30 minutes no towels. Some of us resorted […] to drying off with hand towels and wash cloths. I told the front desk about it and the guy said "oh sorry" and that's pretty much it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The Cotton Exchange Hotel was just what we were looking for: a clean place to stay with a good location. I also look for a hotel with valet parking since I do not like to hunt for a safe parking garage or lot in the city. It was not the most updated of rooms, but if you are in the city to have a good time and have a place to stay - then this hotel fits […] the bill. The walls were a little thin, but we were so tired that it didn't really matter! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"I would stay again."
The facility is average and convenient to the Superdome--nothing special. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel had adequate parking even though the hotel was at full capacity. This is an issue at some hotels in the area. Although it is not my first choice, I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location is Great!"
This hotel is within walking distance of the New Orleans Superdome, New Orleans Arena, and Canal Street. Very good location for the price. The facilities are less than luxurious, but the location factor trumps the luxury. Would definitely stay here again to be able to walk to a Saints game or event at the Superdome.Genuine Expedia guest review
The employees were friendly and helpful. The location was excellent. The only complaint that I have was the valet service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Terribly outdated but I would stay there again"
In a city whose existence depends on a plethora of overpriced hotels, the Cotton Exchange is just another one, albeit badly in need of renovation. Yes, it goes without saying that the carpet is a disgrace. While I don't watch much tv in a hotel, a flat screen is a sure test of how current it will be. You can predict that everything else is outdated […] here the second you walk in and see the big box tv. As in New York, the primary factor for the ridiculousness of hotel prices is location. As that goes, this one is great. Situated on Carondelet, about halfway between Poydras and Canal. That is a great place to be! (And Carondelet becomes Bourbon at Canal Street). You're just enough away from the craziness but it's all accessible within minutes. So, yes, you can probably deal with this place for a few days. Also, kudos on the included breakfast, which is more than average, though it will cause you to miss one of the city's treats, a full blown New Orleans breakfast. "The hotel is located within walking distance"
The hotel is within walking distance of everything in the French Quarter. The hotel is an older building, more than met expectations. Read several bad reviews, and was worried. But this was the only hotel that had a room available during our time frame. The hotel staff was great, from arriving late to having multiple reservations, to staying an additional […] night. The staff always went above and beyond. The room was always clean, bed made, clean towels, and was quite too. Breakfast was breakfast at a hotel when it's free, it met expectations. The hotel was extremely full during our stay. With a convention, and a Saints game, but the building was always clean and neat. Would stay here again, the price was great also. Comfortable bed, pleasant stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
I stayed in this hotel from November 29-December 2. My room had no heat, and I couldn't stop the vent from blowing out COLD air. This was very uncomfortable when getting out of the shower early in the morning. I tried to obtain a blanket from the front desk, but couldn't find anyone there. Also, there was no one to program a wakeup call. Individuals […] appearing to be homeless stayed in the lobby overnight, then helped themselves to the free breakfast. Several guests complained of no hot water, and stated that they heated water in their coffee makers, and shaved there. Wallpaper was coming off walls, carpet was heavily stained, shower rack was broken, toilet didn't work properly, room was not cleaned as promised, key cards ceased operating, breakfast was never available at 6:30 AM as promised, room had a strong musky odor, dressers had drawer pulls missing, television appeared to be ancient. Individuals were constantly panhandling for money in and around the lobby, especially at night. I didn't feel comfortable being around them. I can honestly state that this is the WORST hotel I have EVER stayed in. I would definitely be concerned for women or children staying in this facility. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent location, but could be loud at night"
My boyfriend and I went for three nights with another couple who are friends of ours. The location was perfect for what we wanted to do. 5-minute walk to the French Quarter, and you could catch the streetcar that went through the Garden District and back just on the corner. The rooms were clean, towels clean, no stains that I could see or smoke smells […] (which some other reviewers reported). Other reviewers complained about the lack of hot water, but we actually thought the water too hot. We were showering between 8am and 9am each day, so perhaps if you wake up much later, you won't find as much hot water, but we had no problems. Our room was located on the interior and was very quiet, but our friends' room was on the street side, and one was a light sleeper. He said it was difficult for him to fall asleep, as the noise went on all night. Cars with loud music, people yelling, etc. The worst was the Saturday we were there, naturally. If that is a problem for you, you might want to request an interior room. We parked down the street at the Royal Parking open lot for $8 a day, about a 5-minute walk away. But we messed up and mistook 12AM for 12 noon and ended up getting our car booted the last day. I'd recommend the cheap lot, but make sure to be careful when choosing times. Also, if you want to leave, you have to get a new ticket, so your spot there won't be guaranteed. Overall, this was great for the price and location, and the free breakfast was not too bad. This hotel is outdated but affordable. If you don't plan on spending all of your time at the the hotel when you visit NOLA, this hotel might be for you. "Basic non-luxurious reasonably priced hotel"
We found The Cotton Exchange to be an adequate, reasonable priced hotel. Our standard room was clean, the towels were of good quality - in short, not luxurious, but OK. Our room was on the top floor in a quiet corner, so we were not bothered by noise from the street or from others in the hotel. Overall, the public rooms and hallways were shabby and […] in need of redecorating. The hotel's location was great - one block from the French Quarter and right on the St. Charles street car line. We parked our car and didn't use it until the day we left town. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Convenient location, but has some problems"
This is a good hotel if you are just looking for a place to spend the night. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable, but it had some serious limitations. Our biggest complaint was that we ended up with an interior room without any outside windows. I have never had that happen and there was no mention of it on the website for the hotel or Expedia. […] I am not sure I would have stayed here if I had known that was going to be the case. The front desk staff could also use some upgraded training. They were not rude, but they were not particularly friendly. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"possibly the worst hotel I've been in"
This is the hotel of nightmares. The first night I got there, they told me that my reservation had been cancelled by Hotels.com. However they were able to find a room for me. It was a very old room right next to the elevator, which allowed me to hear the machinery of the elevator. I complained and they moved me to another, seemingly nicer room. It was […] more modern, but the AC was constantly blowing cold air. The duration of my stay it was 63 degrees. I had to push a towel into the vents to keep air from coming in. The first morning, the toilet clogged and then overflowed. I called the front desk and asked them to unclog it. After 4 hours it had not been unclogged. I called again and they said they'd send someone. I left to have some lunch and a couple hours later discovered nothing had been done. I went down to the front desk this time to complain. They yelled at the maintenance man who apparently got the room number wrong. I went out for an hour, came back, and the toilet was finally unclogged. However the nasty toilet water was still all over the floor. I gave up and cleaned it myself. Unplugged the alarm clock because it had a constant buzz. Last morning I wanted to shower before the airport. The water was shut off. I could not use the shower or sink. Luckily I had a water bottle to use to brush my teeth and wash my face. To add insult to injury, I found out that I got charged by both Hotels.com and Cotton Exchange. I love New Orleans but loathe Cotton Exchange. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Horrible customer service, filthy rooms & thievery"
The entire staff are rude and unfriendly. Five minutes after I walked into my room, maintenance barges in to fix the curtain that was falling off. Glad they give me a room scheduled to be repaired. And the toilet would not flush either and the maintenance guy could not get it working. The front desk clerk was very rude when I asked for a new room. I […] guess a toilet that flushes is too much to ask for. The new room had a window facing a cement wall. The carpet was gross and the shower curtain was covered in mold. The whole room was just old and beat up looking. Unfortunately, I left an expensive iPhone case and charger in my room and they actually stole it! I know for a fact I left it there, but housekeeping refused to answer my calls or respond to my voicemail. I finally get a hold of the front desk days later after they continually ignored my calls and I called from a different phone number and they tell me nothing was found in my room and they are not responsible! Please do not stay here! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Think before you book"
Walking into the lobby smelled like stagnant cigarette smoke. Our first room was 53 degrees when we walked in. I told the front desk and they sent up a maintenance man..I feel if they had another room available they should have offered that immediately being it was 10:30PM when we arrived. After about an hour of the maintenance man being unable to solve […] the heating problem, we asked if we could just be put in a different room and at that point we were upgraded from a queen to a king room with a fridge and a microwave. The rooms both were clean but smelled so strongly of commercial cleaner that I could taste it. The bed was very comfortable and the free breakfast buffet was good. Cotton Exchange was great! Small rooms, but very clean. We had everything we needed, iron and ironing board, hair dryer. The one thing we would have liked was an in-room safe. Our friends had them, not every room had one. Housekeeping timed our departures & never actually had to knock when we were there. Carondelet St. actually becomes Bourbon St. in […] 2 blocks, close to everything. Also there is a lot to do on Canal St. And the streetcar picks up out front. The staff was polite. I must mention Merlin, the valet, by name. He was awesome! We told him about places we were going and he provided directions and his personal input, from a local's standpoint. He was very knowlegeable, humorous, and just overall a warm and friendly person. When I arrived, my check-out date was wrong. Front desk said she'd fix it and she promptly did. The HOT BREAKFAST was AWESOME! Make-your-own belgian waffles, it also had little cheese omelets, biscuits, sausage, hard boiled eggs, and scrambled eggs. And pastries, bagels, cereal, coffee, juice. One day the water went out briefly, maybe like 10-20 minutes but the whole block was affected, not just Cotton Exchange. 1 block away is a 24-hour diner, Daisy Dukes, great for after 10pm when the other restaurants are closed. 2 blocks away is a CVS for incidentals; it even sells booze. Cotton Exchange is an older hotel, it could use a little touch up paint and some new carpeting, but again, everything was kept very clean so no complaints. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"The hotel is just ehhh...but in a good location"
I booked this hotel because of price and location. It was cheaper than the others in this location and I wasn't planning on spending much time in the room. The bad is that the hotel is very outdated and not well maintained. Little things like the light next to the bed didn't work unless you jiggled the switch, the faceplate was off of the alarm clock, […] one of the toilette seat bolts was broken so the seat slide left of right, there was an old worn out chair in the corner (when you sat it in your butt goes to the floor) and the phone in the room didn't work. The shower curtain was 12" too short to close so water went on the floor. My room had a view directly into a wall and partial hotel window next door 10 fee away. The good is that it's cheap and close to Bourbon Street and other large convention hotels. The staff are extremely helpful and nice. I would not stay here again. "Don't read reviews as gospel"
On our way to New Orleans, my wife read reviews for this hotel located one block from Bourbon St which we had booked 2 months in advance. People complained of rooms uncleaned, no hot water, items stolen, etc. Our experience could not have been more different. We are creatures of habit and we have found the place we will stay next time we go back. The […] room was great, the water was powerful and hot, and we came home with all of our belongings. Parking was the only issue we had and we did not pay the 30 buck a night valet service when there is a parking garage across the street for $13 a night. The hotel's location to all of New Orleans downtown attractions is amazing. Turn right out of the hotel, you are headed to the Garden District. Turn left and you are on Bourbon St at 10:30 AM on a Saturday where a full blown party has been going since 7 Am. All of this is within a mile of walking. Once our car was parked, we didn't need it anymore b/c you are so close to everything. Sadly, we cannot rate the free continental breakfast because we never woke up in time for it.
