It should only be a little bit more pricey than a hostel but still had the price of a 2 or 3 star hotel for some reason. And there was some sketchy-acting guy who left his bike blocking the entire hallway after coming in late at night.

I needed a cheap place to sleep that felt clean and safe, and this place was that. The temperature was good, the bed & pillow were comfortable (but not luxurious), and I didn't hear outside noise or my neighbors. My room contained a sink, fridge, desk and bed. The TV occupies 75% of the desk. The space between the bed and desk is just wide enough to walk. This is all the open space in the room, so don't come here if you are claustrophobic. I was able to borrow an iron and ironing board. But, since only the housekeeping staff had access to the board, I had to wait until the next day. They put both in my room while I was out the next day. The staff was friendly and helpful. Bring flip-flops or sandals for the shower in the shared bathroom. There are a couple/few per hallway and are single person occupancy. The subway is about 2-3 blocks from the hotel, and it only takes 20-30 minutes to get to Times Square via the subway.

Its a very small room, literally a Big Closet but almost what you need if you are out in NY for the day and hit the hotel just to sleep. If you want anything more, dont even look at this... but to keep your luggage and roam around - this cannot be better for the price paid. Only problem was the Restroom needed some [plumbing] maintenance. They were clean but taps werent functional. very close to central park and the Subway. I enjoyed my "Sleep" there and was out the next morning. Would recommend it for some one who just wants to keep their bags in a roam and roam the whole of NY ! FYI - even if you dont get street parking, there is a parking lot on the other side.

I've stayed here about fives times. I'm on a budget and the location is great, you can't find another place near Central Park, shops, and the subway lines for the price. This is a hostel, meaning that you share a shower and toilet (there are sinks in the room though). You can have a private twin or standard bed as well. The other reviewers obviously are looking at their wallets as well, otherwise they would stay at the Ritz. The rooms are clean, the service is nice, and it serves its purpose. If you're traveling to NYC, I'm sure you're not doing it to lie in bed all day. A good night's rest, clean bathrooms (but being in the bathroom early couldn't hurt). Basically, if you can afford a fancy hotel, then do that and stop trashing this place. If you're on a budget and don't require a lot of frills, just a clean and quiet room to get some sleep, then this is a great place.

It was not terrible, considering I knew I was paying for the cheapest hotel I could find for that date without going to a hostel. Bathrooms were shared, and not like public bathrooms- there were 2-3 individual bathrooms on each floor, some with showers, some were just showers. The bathrooms were NOT well maintained. It could've been much worse, but it was still pretty bad. The room itself was not noticeable dirty, which I was thankful for. There was also a sink in the room, but no shampoo or anything like that was provided. Just 2 very small bars of soap, and there were none in the bathrooms (or paper towels for that matter). Overall: it was fine for my purposes; staying in the cheapest hotel in an expensive city for one night. I'd go there again, but I'm not picky.

The two separate beds in our spacious room were big and clean with working A/C, fridge, and television. Above all, the neighborhood was amazing. We got into town around 2 a.m and I was very nervous about our location, but it has to be one of the most beautiful, peaceful, and calm spots on the Upper West Side for this price (although our window was facing the highway, the traffic noise wasn't terrible). Subway station is about 4-5 blocks away, which wasn't the most convenient but it was terrible either. A+++
