"Nice quiet hotel"
Hotel staff were friendly and accomadating, couldn't have asked for much more.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Downtown Value Inn"
Best feature - close to Tri-Met station. Hotel shabby and dated, with no amenities. Didn't expect much for price, but did expect a little better. The man at check-in was very accommodating about parking - one of few hotels in Portland that don't charge for parking; however number of spaces very limited. There was no way to indicate when making reservation […] that handicap access needed. I'm on crutches due to injury, and had to negotiate a flight of stairs - kind of precarious. "Great value for your money"
Everything was excellent and in great shape except for the TV, which was very old and only a few channels came in well. However, there was a fridge in each room, which is very nice. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Great location as well, right near the university. It was a bit noisy and hard to sleep at times because I think it caters to […] a younger crowd, but definitely a great place to stay if you're young and looking for a cheap place in the city. "Great Customer Service"
The room wasnt bad for the price. I loved the location and the people at the front desk. A very basic hotel, but thats all I needed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The location was excellent and the price wasn't bad. The bad thing about this place was their tiny parking lot and that there was no elevator so we had to carry all our bags up 3 floors. Besides that, rooms were clean. Would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It is what it is"
This seems like a place parents or friends stay while visiting the university. Nothing special about it at all. Could use a renovation. The price was right and the location was decent for exploring Portland. The staff were all extremely nice. Overall a 3 our of 5 for me.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, friendly staff..."
Great location and friendly staff. They also had a room for luggage storage when we checked out of the hotel which helped since we had a few hours before our flight.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Affordable place for a short stay near Downtown"
The hotel was perfect for what we were looking for: a cheap place to sleep while enjoying Portland. Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. Room was clean and the hot water and AC unit worked nicely. They did only have one key per room, though, which made it difficult since there were 4 of us. Also, the parking lot was a bit of a joke. Very […] few spots and the ramp out of the lot is so steep our car bottomed out twice. There were other (paid) parking lots nearby. The location was good, not really in the heart of Downtown, but the MAX train runs right in front of the hotel and some attractions and shopping are definitely within walking distance. Overall I would stay here again, but probably not for more than a couple nights. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great cheap motel"
This motel is part motel and part hostel. For the inexpensive rate I paid, I think it was just fine. It was right next to the Portland State campus and many bus and light rail lines. There were great places to eat nearby. The staff were nice and assisted pleasantly. Despite its proximity to public transportation, with the AC on, the noise never bothered […] me. Some things I didn't consider before going: I'd need a $5 cash deposit for key and no in-room coffee maker. Also, there was no hairdryer, but they gave me one as soon as I asked. It's not the Ritz Carlton, but then I didn't pay for the Ritz Carlton. If you're on a tight budget, this place is great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location for low rate"
Great location to downtown. Took MAX from airport and stop just a block away, and could walk everywhere. Reminds me of hostel of overseas places so not fancy, shower water pressure low, no housekeeping yet clean and front desk clerk very helpful. Lots of rooms available and near PSU and the food vendor trucks just a block away. "Reserve at your own risk!"
First time to Portland. Wanted to stay in a location that was near a train stop and walking distance to restaurants. Well, we got what we asked for: 1) Train stop was RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR WINDOW, and 2) The restaurants were all walking distance. Staying at this hotels was not worth the "deal" that we thought it would be -- Hard to close your eyes and night […] and sleep when there's rusty bathroom lights, stained toilet seats and floors and walls that smell of stale smoke. In desperation, we bought an aromatic candle to burn at night to cope with the smells. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

It was very relaxing and close to everything all in all awesome we will be back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Clean comfortable room at a very reasonable price. Located within walking distance to downtown, museum and adjacent to Portland State.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great price and spectacular location downtown"
Very low price for being in the middle of downtown. The staff was accommodating and friendly. Our room was clean, comfortable, and as requested we got to have more towels! Only con thing is that we did have trouble with our restroom (e.g. toilet wouldn't flush, and shower took a while to warm up); however, when we brought to attention to staff they […] were quick to resolve! :) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Clean Hotel with few amenities."
Room and hotel is clean. Good location near downtown and the streetcar line. Management is very pleasant. Room is for sleeping only. No a place to relax (except sleep) after a long day. A bit noisy as to be expected in the downtown area. GREAT pizza place next door. Limited parking. Next time we will stay in Vancouver at a nicer hotel, lower rates, […] and put up with the drive and parking downtown. If I had to spend the night in Portland, I would stay here. "Convenient location, low price"
I stayed here during spring break week for a work conference at the convention center. Access to public transportation is very convenient (the stops for the Trimet Max Lite are right around the corner) and the hotel is above/attached to a bar/pizza shop. The hotel staff were really friendly and accommodating providing me with a blow dryer and an iron […] to iron my clothes. I was in room 38 which is a king size room. It was HUGE and the view was really nice. It comes with a microwave and a small refrigerator too. However, it is directly over the bar so on Friday and Saturday nights you can hear the music thumping, but if you turn on the fan of your window heat/a/c unit it drowns it out just fine. Another note for room 38, the bathroom is TINY. My friend stayed in room 33 which was a decent sized full-sized bed room, and had a gigantic bathroom with a window that let in a lot of natural light. Room 38's bathroom was a dark closet with a really bad ceiling light. If you're a woman you will have an awful time trying to do your hair and makeup in this room. Hot water takes a long time to work for the shower and didn't last long either. There is a parking area for the hotel, but I can't speak to cost as I rode the trains during my stay. Overall, the room was clean and beds were comfortable. I would stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Inconsiderate and uncompassionate staff"
My son stayed two nites. On the second night he had to go to the ER with food poisoning from a local food cart. Spent most of the night in ER. The Hotel would NOT let him extend his checkout by one hour!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was small and we didnt have enough blankets to sleep with.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I stayed one night and was happy with my choice. Within walking distance to all of downtown and pleasant area.Genuine Expedia guest review
The room was comfortable and clean for a one night stay. I used this hotel to keep from traveling home during a snow storm. I was able to set the heat where I was comfortable and had a great nights sleep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was in a great location with easy but tight parking. The trolly line was right outside the window but it wasn't annoying. Added to the downtown feel of the hotel. Room was clean and had everything that we needed. Was a great place for the price.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Needs additional repairs."
Ok. Room had everything most rooms have, but old and thermostat on Air Conditioner not working. Why do they provide microwaves then only put plastic non microwaveable cups in the rooms?Genuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful location, decent in other aspects"
This Hotel is a humble hotel, but I would go there again. Its location is wonderful, close to buses to go everywhere. The cleanness was not the best (one day they forgot to do the service in the room), but the other hotel staff were kind to make their best to overcome the situation. I thought it was because I forgot to put the note to ask for maid service. Good […] that they have a service to post letters and cards Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Decent location but not great condition"
The location is decent, linens clean, no sign of bed bugs but the place is in poor-ish repair. No hot water. Windows didn't close (in < 30 degree temps) and no working remote (a minor issue in relation). Not really worth the money. On the up side they include parking and that with the location are a great sell.Genuine Expedia guest review
My heater didn't work, but I was comfortable without it on. The temperature was in the upper 30s and 40s while I was there. I'm 5'9" and the shower head was so low that the water hit my collarbone. It was okay for me, but I think it would have been pretty frustrating if I'd been much taller. Otherwise, my stay was very pleasant. My room overlooked the […] street where the Streetcar and MAX stopped, but it wasn't too loud. The bed was comfortable, and the microwave and refrigerator were useful. For the price and location, it's hard to beat. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good price for a great location."
We were going to a show right downtown, didn't wanna bother with cab rides or driving... this place was cheap and within walking distance of everywhere we needed to go. Parking was free, the room was clean, and served its purpose just fine.Genuine Expedia guest review
I needed a place to stay for 2 nights while i looked around downtown Portland so in regards to location, the motel was ideally placed. Otherwise, the motel was just what you'd expect, dirty and a bit rundown. The water took a while to heat up and the bathroom was tiny and dirty. It gave me a place to stay and at a good price though, so I can't complain […] too too much. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Basic hotel in good location"
The room was fairly basic but was clean and quiet which was nice. The location was great - just a short walk into the center of downtown Portland.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location and value combo"
Location is right across street from PSU student center, two streetcar lines right at the hotel, very convenient, interesting and safe place to be in downtown if looking for a good value. Rooms were clean, nothing fancy, but quite comfortable and quiet. Would stay again!Genuine Expedia guest review
"You get what you pay for..."
The staff was plenty friendly, but the room was unpleasant. My husband and I are not very hard to please, but this room was dirty (hair in the bedspread, dirt in the shower), needed repair (broken window, toilet paper dispenser coming out of the wall, leaky faucet), was very noisy (old windows, VERY loud bar right below our room, open until late), inconsistent […] temperature (the in-room window air conditioner/heater was impossible to regulate), old dirty furniture and had a very uncomfortable bed. Also, the "free parking" was so small and tight, we scraped the sides of our cars on cement posts trying to get in and out. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"OK motel in central Portland"
Good: Expected a queen bed; got a king; and it was comfortable. Not so good: Free parking was advertised w/the room... true but your ride better be small. The spaces are extraordinarily confined. I could fit in only 1 of the available 3 spaces left (Nissan Frontier) & it took 20 minutes to accomplish. General condition of the place: somewhat dingy […] and dog eared; staff however were polite and helpful. The price was significantly less than other hotels we'd stayed at and we were on a strict budget. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beware extra fees when you arrive!"
We were on a road trip & only booked 1 night because we weren't sure if we would be staying. I made the mistake of booking it for 1 guest, though there were 2 of us. We booked a 2 queen room since that was all that was available. We arrive, check in, park our car & as we walk by the front desk tells us that we owe them $15 extra because we only booked […] the room for 1 guest. Ok fine. We give him $15 cash. That night we decide to stay another night. I log onto the expedia app & book a room for the following night. There is a room with 1 bed available, so we book it & I make sure this time that I book is for TWO people. Oddly there was no $15 charge like the guy at the front desk said. Hmm... I call Expedia & ask about it because it's odd that we book a room with 2 queens and there's a charge for an extra person, but we book a room with one queen bed and aren't charged. Expedia calls the hotel & the person at the front explains that there's no extra charge if we have 1 bed with 2 people, but there is if we have 2 beds with 2 people. What? When I hang up w/ Expedia, I check the price of a 2 queen room with 2 people to see if I'm charged $15. No extra charge. We talk to the guy at the front the next day & he doesn't have a straight answer. Why was I charged extra?! The room was fine, the price was right, but the business practices are fishy! P.S. Don't drop your toothpaste cap in the sink, it drops down a few inches & you can reach but it's SLIMY down there. Gross. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Downtown Value Inn"
Large, clean, quiet, if but spartan rooms. Friendly service, excellent location right next to Portland State. Convenient to local eateries and shopping on the Trimet Max yellow and green line, the Portland Streetcar and the rest of SW Portland. Easy access to the Hawthorne bridge and highway 26 West.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cheap and close to downtown and the max lines"

"I Would not stay here again under any circumstance"
The hotel was dirty and in very poor shape. I would NOT recommend it to anyone under any circumstance.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient to Portland State University"
Location very close to Portland State University and this was the reason for our stay. Price was right for what you get. No free breakfast, no clock in room, negligible water pressure in the shower, didn't even have the "network" channels on the old TV and on a saturday meant no college football games. But, location and price is very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A place to avoid"
Minimal parting in a hard to navigate parking lot -- Spaces are narrow with concrete columns between each parking spot. The room itself was small and I had to move chairs around just to go from one side of the bed to the other. The in-wall air conditioner was loud, but it would have been tolerable if it at least cooled down the room. I would never stay […] there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Don't book! Nasty and creepy rooms. The fist room they gave us was collapsed in the center with a huge dip. The next room wasn't any better smelling like a mortuary. Unclean and ghetto rooms! Run!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Horrible customer service"
Booked two nights because of the location, but the customer service there is absolutely horrible. I can not recommend this place to anyone strictly on that fact alone. The guy at the counter was extremely rude.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"nice for a inexpensive motel"
The owner was so nice. Neighborhood very safe. Right on public transit line. Nice walk to the Vodoo donut shop. Lots to see. Free parking. Fridge in the room. If your site seeing and not in your room a lot, this eould be a great place to stay in downtown Portland.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Value Inn visit"
I'd read some negative reviews, but I myself was pleased with the room. It's an older building, but the room appeared clean and neat, window allowed a nice breeze, bathroom was fine, TV worked, so did the refrigerator. The beds were clean and neat and I had a good night's rest. The 'free parking' was first come, first serve, but there were a number […] of spaces and I didn't have a problem finding one, but there is also nearby street parking as well. The parking spaces were tight, but not a real problem. It's not a high priced, up-scale accommodations, but for the price it was a good deal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Come with cash"
This hotel check-in was quite something. After paying for what I thought was a full stay in the hotel, I was required to put down a cash deposit for the room key and informed that if I brought back an additional "guest" that I would be charged an additional $10 plus tax. I was then told there was one door and that they would know if I brought someone […] back to my room. This seemed like an invasion of my privacy, and frankly a conversation I am not interested in having with a stranger. It also felt a bit accusatory and unnecessary. The room was clean, but Spartan at best. The furniture was chipped and dingy. The room was fantastically noisy from the street all night and I did not sleep well. I won't be back. "Great value for a location near the Willamette"
Having only 1 unlocked entrance to the hotel was unsettling, as were the lack of sprinklers in the ceiling of my room. The garage spaces are tight and few, so I left my minivan parked from the time I checked in and the time I left. Luckily, free public transit is right at the corner. Only toiletries were shampoo and shower gel, no tissues, no info re: […] TV and limited channels, no coffee or tea. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
