"better than other reviews say"
staff was friendly and helpful, particularly the night auditor. room was fine for the price, as long as you aren't too picky the location is great and it's totally worth it.Genuine Expedia guest review
I was happy with the location as it was close to activities we planned. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The room was clean, the beds comfortable. Overall I would go again next time I' m in PortlandGenuine Expedia guest review
"OK motel in central Portland"
Good: Expected a queen bed; got a king; and it was comfortable. Not so good: Free parking was advertised w/the room... true but your ride better be small. The spaces are extraordinarily confined. I could fit in only 1 of the available 3 spaces left (Nissan Frontier) & it took 20 minutes to accomplish. General condition of the place: somewhat dingy […] and dog eared; staff however were polite and helpful. The price was significantly less than other hotels we'd stayed at and we were on a strict budget. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beware extra fees when you arrive!"
We were on a road trip & only booked 1 night because we weren't sure if we would be staying. I made the mistake of booking it for 1 guest, though there were 2 of us. We booked a 2 queen room since that was all that was available. We arrive, check in, park our car & as we walk by the front desk tells us that we owe them $15 extra because we only booked […] the room for 1 guest. Ok fine. We give him $15 cash. That night we decide to stay another night. I log onto the expedia app & book a room for the following night. There is a room with 1 bed available, so we book it & I make sure this time that I book is for TWO people. Oddly there was no $15 charge like the guy at the front desk said. Hmm... I call Expedia & ask about it because it's odd that we book a room with 2 queens and there's a charge for an extra person, but we book a room with one queen bed and aren't charged. Expedia calls the hotel & the person at the front explains that there's no extra charge if we have 1 bed with 2 people, but there is if we have 2 beds with 2 people. What? When I hang up w/ Expedia, I check the price of a 2 queen room with 2 people to see if I'm charged $15. No extra charge. We talk to the guy at the front the next day & he doesn't have a straight answer. Why was I charged extra?! The room was fine, the price was right, but the business practices are fishy! P.S. Don't drop your toothpaste cap in the sink, it drops down a few inches & you can reach but it's SLIMY down there. Gross. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Downtown Value Inn"
Large, clean, quiet, if but spartan rooms. Friendly service, excellent location right next to Portland State. Convenient to local eateries and shopping on the Trimet Max yellow and green line, the Portland Streetcar and the rest of SW Portland. Easy access to the Hawthorne bridge and highway 26 West.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cheap and close to downtown and the max lines"
It is what you pay for but the staff is very kind and attentive. It is close to downtown.Genuine Expedia guest review
"I Would not stay here again under any circumstance"
The hotel was dirty and in very poor shape. I would NOT recommend it to anyone under any circumstance.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient to Portland State University"
Location very close to Portland State University and this was the reason for our stay. Price was right for what you get. No free breakfast, no clock in room, negligible water pressure in the shower, didn't even have the "network" channels on the old TV and on a saturday meant no college football games. But, location and price is very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A place to avoid"
Minimal parting in a hard to navigate parking lot -- Spaces are narrow with concrete columns between each parking spot. The room itself was small and I had to move chairs around just to go from one side of the bed to the other. The in-wall air conditioner was loud, but it would have been tolerable if it at least cooled down the room. I would never stay […] there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Don't book! Nasty and creepy rooms. The fist room they gave us was collapsed in the center with a huge dip. The next room wasn't any better smelling like a mortuary. Unclean and ghetto rooms! Run!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Horrible customer service"
Booked two nights because of the location, but the customer service there is absolutely horrible. I can not recommend this place to anyone strictly on that fact alone. The guy at the counter was extremely rude.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close but in poor condition"
The motel is in a really good location, but I found the cleanliness and condition of the hotel to be very dissatisfying.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice for a inexpensive motel"
The owner was so nice. Neighborhood very safe. Right on public transit line. Nice walk to the Vodoo donut shop. Lots to see. Free parking. Fridge in the room. If your site seeing and not in your room a lot, this eould be a great place to stay in downtown Portland.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Value Inn visit"
I'd read some negative reviews, but I myself was pleased with the room. It's an older building, but the room appeared clean and neat, window allowed a nice breeze, bathroom was fine, TV worked, so did the refrigerator. The beds were clean and neat and I had a good night's rest. The 'free parking' was first come, first serve, but there were a number […] of spaces and I didn't have a problem finding one, but there is also nearby street parking as well. The parking spaces were tight, but not a real problem. It's not a high priced, up-scale accommodations, but for the price it was a good deal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Come with cash"
This hotel check-in was quite something. After paying for what I thought was a full stay in the hotel, I was required to put down a cash deposit for the room key and informed that if I brought back an additional "guest" that I would be charged an additional $10 plus tax. I was then told there was one door and that they would know if I brought someone […] back to my room. This seemed like an invasion of my privacy, and frankly a conversation I am not interested in having with a stranger. It also felt a bit accusatory and unnecessary. The room was clean, but Spartan at best. The furniture was chipped and dingy. The room was fantastically noisy from the street all night and I did not sleep well. I won't be back. "Great value for a location near the Willamette"
Having only 1 unlocked entrance to the hotel was unsettling, as were the lack of sprinklers in the ceiling of my room. The garage spaces are tight and few, so I left my minivan parked from the time I checked in and the time I left. Luckily, free public transit is right at the corner. Only toiletries were shampoo and shower gel, no tissues, no info re: […] TV and limited channels, no coffee or tea. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This place was OK. Based on the reviews you can imagine what it was like. But to save $50 or so and for one night, it was fine. Great location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Rooms stunk. Fridge was set to warm and they removed knob so it could not be adjusted to cold. Parking was always full. Window would not open to let out stink. Overall gross hotel and about as nasty of place as I have ever stayed.Genuine Expedia guest review
"not a value"
I will never stay here again...it is not worth the savings...the staff were NOT friendly and we did not feel welcome or comfortably...barely toleratedGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The window fell out when trying to open it and it would not lock. The blinds were falling apart, people could see in (maintenance did replace them for us). There was no hot water to take a shower, after a long day at the Blues Festival. We ended leaving the hotel at 1am in the morning to find a different hotel. Horrible experience. "Front desk staff was very nice, but......"
The room was alright and comfortable enough for our 2 night stay, but there were a few inconveniences. The microwave was sitting on top of the mini fridge and the cord was not long enough to plug in to the nearest outlet. It would have needed to be moved to use it, thus making it difficult to warm leftovers if needed. The TV reception was good if you […] could get the cable to stay in just the right position, otherwise the picture was fuzzy. The room was on the corner, so noise from the crowd at the restaurant just below (outside dining and drinking) was hard to ignore. The room was pretty clean, though could have used a bit more vacuuming and a bottom sheet big enough for the bed. We did enjoy our stay in downtown Portland and the location did offer a few nearby places to dine. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Location Redeems Motel"
If it wasn't for its excellent location downtown, and reasonable price, I would not have stayed at this motel. Room cleanliness was the issue. It was obvious that the sheets in one of the beds had not been changed. The motel was not busy, but we were given a room with excessive street noise. There is no elevator so we had to carry heavy luggage up 3 […] flights. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was very comfortable. I slept very well. Area was quiet. Hotel staff was helpful in recommending places to eat in the area. Location was excellent for walking to the downtown area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I booked a room for one bed and got two. Had another person stay in the other one and they charged me 45 dollars. Were unclear about their policies. Also refused to tell me how to get to my friend's room that I arrived with. Over all unfriendly service.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Would NOT stay here again!"
The room and bathroom were dirty so I kept my shoes on at all times. My room had a broken window that they used clear tapped to fix. It also wouldn’t shut all the way letting the street noise come right into the room. My “king” bed was two old twin beds put side by side. They didn’t even prove soap… not even for washing your hands. Oh, and it smell […] horrible at this hotel… the room, the hall leading to the room… everywhere! Parking is bad too; get there early if you want a spot. Would not stay here again even if it was free!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A roof over your head..."
Front desk employees are very courteous, which was nice. The place is just an old shack compared to modern hotels though. Lots of maintenance required. Little things can be annoying too, e.g. you get to your room and everything is unplugged, (to save on energy bills for sure), but when that includes the refrigerator, etc. it makes you roll your eyes. You […] are essentially paying for a roof over your head and what I hope are laundered sheets. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good place for exploring downtown of Portland"
I had a nice clean and quiet room. There are 10-11 parking spots, so if you get lucky to get one you might want to leave your car there while you are there. Fast wireless a fridge and a TV.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient location, parking tricky"
Great location, downtown Portland, great for those without car. Double-check parking though, their "free parking" is a bit tricky, ended up parked in the street, vs under their garage...as garage was full when I arrived.Genuine Expedia guest review
When I book this one, the guest rating was 2.9, so I thought it might be bad., but actually it is different from my expectation. It is located in really good place. The room was big and very comfortable. I'm really satisfied. If I go to the Portland again, I will stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Fine Location, low Portland Price"
Never received room service and had to pay extra for our room key. It was a fine place to stay for its price. Parking is pretty terrible too. The only thing that made this work the stay was we split the room three ways. It isn't expensive by any means but it also isn't worth what they charge. I guess I didn't get stabbed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Looking past the the old and trashy rooms, this hotel offers nothing! The staff was extremely rude. The front desk attempted to keep most of my deposit because another person exited as the same time as myself so the clerk argued and argued that I needed to pay for an extra person. "Domestic abuse & drunks"
In the room, one floor above mine, there was two hours of domestic abuse that kept me awake all night. In addition to that, there were drunk people kicking my motel room door because they couldn't remember which room was there. None of the lamps worked, the power outlets weren't working, and one of my pillow cases had lipstick stains all over it. Not […] a good experience. All night in that motel I wised all the transient people outside my window would stop cursing at eachother. Not worth saving all that money for such a run down motel. The room was very spacious and included a pantry area complete with fridge, microwave, counter and cabinets, table and chairs. There was a person at the front desk 24 hours a day. "Fine for the price"
There were no towels in my room. I discovered this getting out of the shower. The front desk probably would have given some to me, but it was a little annoying. "Budget hotel, good location"
This hotel is located right next to the transit lines, easy to reach from almost anywhere. Good pizza place next door. Housekeeping did not make up our beds, which I thought was weird. But it was a fine place to stay for a few nights if you're not expecting luxury.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This place was one of the worst I ever stayed in. It was filthy, bedsheets were stained, bathroom was unfit for human use and there was a kitchen adjoining the bedroom that looked out on the adjoining street with no curtains. It looked like a crackhouse but I am probably insulting crackhouses. No TV or hair dryers. Closet doors had no doorknobs and […] the original lock was replaced with an insubstantial lock. Other guests complained of no electricity and showers that would not shut off. The place would make a great location for a "slasher movie". After one nite they moved me to an affiliated hotel which was marginally better. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable and well-located"
There seemed to be a lot of young people staying here and maybe making a racket (we saw signs to this effect), but we didn't notice a lot of noise. We did see a beer can in the hallway, and it had a little bit of a roughness around the edges, but at that location and that price, it was a very good deal and quite comfortable. The folks behind the counter […] were very nice and helpful. "Lots of Stairs, but good overall"
booked because it was downtown, affordable & had a restaurant/bar attached. We were traveling with children and wanted to be able to unwind safety while they went to bed. Downfall, no elevator...I'm big on taking the stairs, but when hauling up super heavy luggage (I made a stop in Portland after a month long vacation, so between me and my daughters […] luggage, I had to haul about 70 pounds up three flights of stairs) good work out, but dangerous.
